Saturday Stuff

The Eagles were awarded 2 Compensatory Picks on Friday.  Both are 7th rounders.  Normally that isn’t a huge deal.  7th round picks don’t have a huge success rate.  This year there is some uncertainty about UDFAs  (undrafted free agents).  If there is no CBA resolution, teams won’t be allowed to sign UDFAs.  Picks at the bottom of the 7th round will have more value because of that.  Comp picks can’t be traded so the Eagles will have to use them.

This isn’t a good year to be an ex-Eagle.  Chuck Bednarik is now in the hospital.  Word wasn’t released about why, but when you’re 85 going to the hospital isn’t good.  Hope for the best for Concrete Charlie.

Buddy Ryan is battling cancer and we also found out that Kevin Turner has ALS.

I haven’t commented on Leonard Weaver’s comments comparing players and the lockout situation to slavery because stuff like that just doesn’t get me very fired up.  Players will say dumb things.  That’s just a fact of life.  Weaver has since retracted the comments.  He seems like a good guy.  One bad comment shouldn’t change that.

Now LeSean McCoy is mixed up in some bizarre situation.  He failed to show up for an autograph signing that his brother set up.  Can someone please tell Eagles players to quit doing business ventures involving family.  Vick’s brother set up the infamous party last year that almost ended his career.  Players are trying to help out siblings by getting them involved with offseason appearances and things like that.  I’m not expert, but it is probably better to have professionals handling these matters.  They know what to do when things go wrong.  They know how to handle the athletes and businesses.

I can’t wait to actually talk about some offseason moves.  Please owners, players…figure something out and do it soon.

A least you have more time to think about the draft, right?
We have been doing a good job / been lucky in the 7th round in recent years, hopefully that will continue.

I was really surprised by Weaver’s comment, that was not a thing I would expect him to say.

What’s up with news that Jason Peters got busted for being a public nuisance?

Well, my first comment on the new site… and I put it in the wrong post.

Anyway, I was very glad to find this today. The site looks great. The easy access to stats and information should aid in quality discussion, and the clean design is sharp.

If you are still working on fine tuning, a link to comments at the end would be nice. Also, I know you are a fan of the “RE:” thing, but I came to prefer the reply option on the old site.

    Regardless, you have been missed!

    RE: Jason Peters

Knucklehead. When the cops ask you to turn down the music, you do. When they drive away, you turn it right back up. Doesn’t he know how to be a public nuisance?

    @ ATG…

I read the comment on the other post. Thanks for the nice words. Glad you found us. You’re one of my favorite commenters so I’m looking forward to you bringing your A game. In case you’re unsure what that means, think about the way we played vs the Vikings and do the opposite.

I will see if changes can be made to the way comments are done. I know many of you strongly preferred the IgglesBlog way. I’m not sure if that is a simple widget that can be added or if it is complicated.

I’ll also see if it is possible to have recent comments show on the front of the site.

As far as the Blues Brothers thing…I’ve got the goofy fat guy role. It’s up to Sam to be tall and skinny. I’ll gladly eat 4 fried chickens while he nibbles on his white toast.

It’s definitely a sharp looking site. As for the reply thing in comments, I know Disqus, http://disqus.com/

I think it’s a great comment system, with reply option. Though I’m not too familiar with it from an admin’s point of view
