PHI at SEA – 2nd Half

SEA 17, PHI 7.

Vince Young is getting outplayed by Tarvaris Jackson.  Ouch.

DeSean Jackson is doing his diva WR / headcase thing.  Great.

Marshawn Lynch is running hard and breaking tackles.  Our defense is playing sloppy and missing tackles.  Ugh.

Does Kafka play?  Any other changes coming?  Reid has got to be livid.

    Tommy,
I know Juan wanted to simplify this defense, but it seems like there is ZERO creativity 90% of the time. If the Eagles even got creative 25% of the time it would throw offenses off more. Our secondary looks lost when the slot receiver goes in motion.

  5. 5 Anonymous said at 10:17 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Juan is too simple to run a simple defense. Seriously I would question handing him the keys to a high school defense.

  6. 6 Anonymous said at 10:29 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I wouldn’t hand him the keys to a defense in Madden with “ask Madden” calling all the plays.

I want to see Kafka, maybe Hunt. Hell, I wouldn’t mind seeing if Mathews learned anything in his dinner conversations.

  8. 8 Anonymous said at 10:07 PM on December 1st, 2011:

If Patriots get the ball at own 40 yard line, 16 secs till end of half, they are throwing quick outs. CB:s were giving up 10 yard cushion and we only needed 20 yards to at least try a field goal. Unacceptable!

  9. 9 Zachary Kaplan said at 10:08 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Why don’t we run the ghost reverse anymore? Feel like we use to run this 2-3-4 times a game.

About the dumbest thing Mike Mayock has ever said? the season is going to come together or fall apart? The season fell apart week 2 and the players stopped caring right around then too.

    Good night chaps.

  57. 57 Brian Winings said at 10:24 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I don’t understand why the announcers/analysts keep saying stuff the Eagles’ season is hanging in the balance, or is “on the verge” of falling apart. Hasn’t that been the case for weeks now (months even)??

  58. 58 Anonymous said at 10:26 PM on December 1st, 2011:

They have to give people a reason to watch the rest of the game. Somehow I think a “This game is over and the season is done for the Eagles, may as well watch that Office you DVRed” wouldn’t go over well with the producers.

  61. 61 Brian Winings said at 10:26 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Well according to Mike Mayock, LeSean McCoy reminds him of Barry Sanders. I wonder if that has more to do with McCoy’s abilities or if it is because McCoy is on a terrible team.

The great thing about baseball is that when you’re a lousy team, you dump the dead weight 2/3 of the way through the season and play the young guys to see what you have.

In football, coaches — even when 4-8 — play every game to win.

    That’s insanity.

Don’t be so sure. First Andy would have to burn a timeout, then they would take a penalty, and Riley Cooper or Vince Young might just hand you over to a stranger. You might never get in the ground. Also, Desean would most definitely be late and Steve Smith would be hitting on your wife.

Honestly. if i met VY in person tonight, I’d kick his ass. Can he even tell Eagles form Seahawks? Someone should test his eyesight.

  137. 137 Anonymous said at 11:09 PM on December 1st, 2011:

    This is beyond pitiful.

  138. 138 Anonymous said at 11:10 PM on December 1st, 2011:

C’mon Seahawks. Run it up. This bunch of losers deserves no less.

  139. 139 Anonymous said at 11:10 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Tommy…..please,please,please,please…let’s just talk draft pick scenarios the rest of the season…we can get you some PBR to keep your strength up while you watch the college film

  140. 140 Anonymous said at 11:11 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Were I shady, i would take less money on my next contract just to play for a winner

  141. 141 Anonymous said at 11:12 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I’ down with bringing back DMac………..
    And T.O
And Westy and Buck while we are at it……..
    LOL!

  142. 142 Anonymous said at 11:12 PM on December 1st, 2011:

We should get a tackle credit on the guy staying in bounds with a slide.

  143. 143 Anonymous said at 11:12 PM on December 1st, 2011:

    BELEAGUERED.

That’s the only word I know that describes Juan Castillo . . . that camera shot of him w/ about 3 minutes left. Wow.

  144. 144 Anonymous said at 11:12 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I think VY can put up 5 picks if we hurry

  145. 145 Anonymous said at 11:14 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Was it laws who said we should blow out the Seahawks?

  146. 146 Anonymous said at 11:15 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Yep. This team is full of idiots.

  147. 147 Thorin McGee said at 11:24 PM on December 1st, 2011:

This is a team full of soon-to-be-unemployed players. I.E. BUMS!

  148. 148 Anonymous said at 11:35 PM on December 1st, 2011:

He was misquoted – he said we should blow the Seahawks. Sorry if I’m making this an R-rated board.

  149. 149 Steve H said at 11:15 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Well, can anyone really say this game unfolded in an unexpected manner?

  150. 150 Anonymous said at 11:16 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I wonder if we can take Vince’s plane ticket. Make him walk home. Give him a football. If he doesn’t lose it before he gets back to Philly, maybe we will let him be on the practice squad.

  151. 151 Brian Winings said at 11:17 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Who would have thought this team was capable of turning in an even worse effort today than they did in the first Giants game or the Cardinals game.

  152. 152 Anonymous said at 11:17 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Perfect Seattle. Punch it in. Rub Andy’s face in it.

  153. 153 Anonymous said at 11:17 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Really? Really? A pass on 4th down, up by too much? When do we play them again?

  154. 154 Anonymous said at 11:18 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Ah well next year. Been saying that for too long now.

This has been the most unlikeable Eagles Team since 98. Only bright spot is Shady and the offensive line. A solid run game is a start though. We need a good draft, a couple of winning vets, plus a complete defensive coaching change. Marty needs to go. Any thoughts on bringing back Chilly?

  155. 155 Kammich said at 11:19 PM on December 1st, 2011:

This feels so much worse than the constant struggle of the 2005 season or the complacency of the 2007 season. There’s too much talent on this team to have just performed like that. I’m stunned. It seems like everyone, from coaches, to players, to ownership… has given up. The only ones who haven’t are the fans(like the many of us here) who continually show up every game day and pour our hearts and souls into it.

Ugggh. Is it almost April yet? We need the Draft to hurry the hell up. G’night fellas.

  156. 156 Anonymous said at 11:19 PM on December 1st, 2011:

If I were Andy I wouldn’t return to Philly.

  157. 157 Thorin McGee said at 11:20 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Tomorrow they have to fire Juan and Young. There’s just no reason to keep them on the payrole any longer.

  158. 158 Zachary Kaplan said at 11:20 PM on December 1st, 2011:

There is no way anyone can convince me that someone should not be fired after tonights efforts. Reid also needs to shut his fucking players up. I mean these ass holes keep talking like they are a good football team. They are bottom of the league bad. Bad. No one should be safe and honestly if it was blown fucking up I don’t know that I’d be upset…

  159. 159 Thorin McGee said at 11:21 PM on December 1st, 2011:

This team quit on everyone. Andy, Juan, Tommy … everyone.

  160. 160 Anonymous said at 11:23 PM on December 1st, 2011:

These last two home games are going to be ug- leeeeeeeee

  161. 161 Brian Winings said at 11:24 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I am definitely a glass half empty kind of fan, but I would have bet anything that this season was not going to go even close to the way it has.

  162. 162 Anonymous said at 11:28 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Andy Reid doesn`t deserve effort like we just saw. I know he has his flaws, but it he is not throwing those two picks Vince threw. Or dropping a ball to an another pick. Or missing tackles.

    And please no Fat references.

  163. 163 Anonymous said at 11:37 PM on December 1st, 2011:

What part of the team and the leadership is Andy not responsible for?

  164. 164 Anonymous said at 11:47 PM on December 1st, 2011:

He is not responsible throwing awful pics. We can talk that maybe Vince should not be on the field but he cannot make decisions on the field on Vince`s behalf.

I hate Michael Irvin with all my heart.

  165. 165 Anonymous said at 11:49 PM on December 1st, 2011:

He brought Vince in, he refused to feed the ball to Shady. He promoted Juan, and went to wide 9 with scrub linebackers. Andy is ultimately responsible for everything as head coach and president of football operations. It’s his show and the Eagles are 4-8.

  166. 166 Anonymous said at 11:54 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I agree on that. I was just talking about the effort that some of our players gave. Of course everything eventually is traceable to Andy.

  167. 167 Anonymous said at 11:38 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I agree, a coach can only do so much. A coach can’t tackle, catch balls, or make throws…he has some responsibility in that, but not that much

  168. 168 Septhinox said at 11:43 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Actually the missed tackles can be directly attributed to the coach.

  169. 169 Zachary Kaplan said at 11:31 PM on December 1st, 2011:

I just want someone fired. I don’t care if it’s the assitant to the traveling secretary, but someone needs to be punished. They aren’t played hard, they aren’t giving a good effort on the field. The play calls are often shitty. And the roster they put togehter is full of garbage. People should be fired.

  170. 170 Thorin McGee said at 11:49 PM on December 1st, 2011:

“What do you think of the team’s execution?”

“I’m all for it.” n fact, I’ll buy the bullets!

  171. 171 Septhinox said at 11:50 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Dan Graziano From ESPN has this game summed up perfectly.

“The Eagles are losers. It’s as simple as that. One more loss will ensure a losing record for a team that does nothing as well as it does losing. There was absolutely no excuse for the defense to come out the way it did in this game, playing soft, missing tackles and watching Marshawn Lynch, who they knew was Seattle’s only real weapon, run over them at will. There was no excuse for DeSean Jackson, who’s still moping about his contract after insisting he wouldn’t, to be giving up on deep routes when he’s the only deep threat the team has. There was no excuse for the penalties, for not calling timeout after a third-down stop with a minute left in the first half, for sending 12 men onto the field for a punt return and having to call another when they were still in the game and looked as though they might need them. These are the careless, lazy, undisciplined acts of losing players and losing teams, and whatever the Eagles might have been or should have been, this is what they are. They are 4-8. They are the most disappointing flop of a team in the entire league. They are losers. ”

  172. 172 Septhinox said at 11:52 PM on December 1st, 2011:

    And another from Graziano

“And[sic] Reid is coaching like a guy who either doesn’t know what to do or is trying to get himself run out of town. I still can’t figure out why a guy who’s legitimately trying to win a game wouldn’t call that timeout with a minute left in the half. “

  173. 173 Anonymous said at 12:26 AM on December 2nd, 2011:

This was inexcusable. I don’t see what could have possibly been his excuse.

  174. 174 Septhinox said at 11:53 PM on December 1st, 2011:

Lost is all of this is Colt Anderson tearing his ACL. That’s horrible. He had 200 people in attendance.

It’s a shame that Mccoy’s incredible season will be forever stained by the complete failure of the whole team around him.

I would like to think it’s not the alcohol, but in all seriousness:

Football is just a sport, but for those of us who need something to look forward in life, we live vicariously through those guys… when these guys win, we all win. Don’t just play to win a Super Bowl, win for us fans that feel like we are losing in life, and make us feel like winners.
