ATL 24, PHI 7 – 2nd Half thread

Speechless. The Falcons are playing their best game of the year.  Fletcher Cox had a chance for an INT early on, but couldn’t make the grab.  It seems like the Football Gods have been punishing us ever since.

This game isn’t over, but it’s headed in that direction.  We must score.  We must get stops.  Simple as that.

I know you’re all pissed off.  So am I.  Ranting is okay, but just keep it in good taste.  Let’s hope the Eagles actually give us something to cheer about.

I’m not pissed off. I’m exhausted. The offense and ST has been bad all year, and the DC change has seemingly destroyed the one functioning unit the team had.

It’s hard to look at this as anything other than a bad-to-mediocre team.

Maybe the Eagles are not as *talented* as we’ve all been saying for the past two seasons.

Nnamdi . . . oh, boy. He didn’t bump J-Jones and then just was badly out run.

D-Jax and Maclin . . . they’re pretty good. But not Jones and White.

The D-line? I really do believe age has caught them.

FINALLY . . . this team is the product of some mediocre to bad drafts.

And, as Austinfan rightly noted, when you don’t have a *Disaster season* — like the Colts did last year — you’re not going to get a TOP NOTCH QB to build around.

    All very frustrating.

By the way . . . Reid’s got a job coaching the Chargers next year if he wants it.

The Eagles are 3-3 in a dogfight to make the playoffs.

Which team was more prepared to play today?

I swear if I have to hear about how much talent this team has one more time. Neither Jackson nor Maclin are special players, Vick is average, maybe, Oline sucks with no peters or Kelce, Celek and shady have game, that’s it on offense. Just accept this and move on. Cole and Babin have taken a step back, Nnamdi is sooo overrated, Coleman is average at best and Allen is nothing special. All this ‘talent’ doesn’t exist. This team has speed, not football players

Can we fire our equipment guy? Our guys are always falling down…ON OUR HOME FIELD.

    Re: Jim Johnson’s legacy

Finding a great H.C. is no less hard than finding a great D.C.

The Eagles had JJ for 9 years and were great.

The Eagles had Bud Carson for couple years and set records.

Marion Campbell led the Birds defensive resurrection under Vermeil from ’77-82 and, like JJ, they were great.

Guys like that have two things in common . . . well traveled, very experienced, and creative.

Again, hard to find those guys.

  135. 135 Corry Henry said at 3:50 PM on October 28th, 2012:

I know Rex Ryan is not a popular guy, but I would love to have him as a DC. HC, not so much, but he’s a great defensive mind IMO.

    Very true.

We do pay Maclin to catch the ball, right?

  138. 138 Corry Henry said at 3:55 PM on October 28th, 2012:

Casey Matthews making the most of his opportunities.

Herremans has been having a crappy year.

I lost a ton of respect for him after this game. Some of the players were still trying, and technically we were still in the game, yet this guy’s effort shows otherwise. That was just an abysmal effort on that last drive. I mean, did he even put forth 1% effort??? Really, really frustrating to watch.

    T-Law:

What’s the longest pass you think Vick attempted today?

I’m not sure it was more than 20 yards.

  142. 142 TommyLawlor said at 4:00 PM on October 28th, 2012:

    Something like that.

  143. 143 Doctor Claw said at 6:21 PM on October 28th, 2012:

That short game was moving the chains and not turning the ball over. The defense just forfeit an entire quarter and spotted the opponent 14 points in that time frame.

  144. 144 Corry Henry said at 3:59 PM on October 28th, 2012:

That was an awful series by Herremans.

That’s how we are going to end it? I am going for a walk in the downpour. I hate this team.

    Bad, bad series.

8-8will be a successful year with this team and this staff.

  149. 149 ACViking said at 4:01 PM on October 28th, 2012:

WOW . . . those last 2 plays by Vick.

Shows a lack of good instincts.

    Just saying.

  151. 151 GermanEagle said at 4:08 PM on October 28th, 2012:

In hindsight we maybe shouldn’t have extended Cole’s and Herreman’s contracts. And I sure hope we won’t give Maclin another rise.

I’m beginning to think that last year was no fluke.

    ______________

    T-Law:

I saw no difference between Watkins and Kelly.

Offensively, the Eagles were out-muscled and out-schemed.

Vick looks lost. Nothing else to say.

Defensively, the Falcons out-muscled and out-schemed the Birds.

The D-line is a liability right now.

Nnamdi is a question mark against top-flight talent.

    DRC . . . maybe he’s going D-Jax / Samuel on us.

The safeties are, as remarked earlier, inconsistent.

    Very disappointing all around.

  153. 153 Doctor Claw said at 4:19 PM on October 28th, 2012:

    Defense. 100%.
When you let the opponent stay on the field for the majority of the 1st quarter and score 2TDs, you deserve to lose.

And the way the Eagles moved the ball on offense until they were forced to take 4-down shots only proves that had the Eagles started with that in game 1, this game wouldn’t have been so critical.

Amazing. I was expecting the offense to be a turnover machine and let us down, not the defense being a goose egg until the last minutes of the 4th quarter.

  154. 154 GermanEagle said at 4:22 PM on October 28th, 2012:

  159. 159 ceteris_paribus1776 said at 4:36 PM on October 28th, 2012:

The faster the giants win the division the faster those who still have hope can move on…just sayin

    David Shaw. Stanford Head Coach.

I think T-Law is one more loss in the next 2 weeks from throwing open the topic of who’s to follow AR.
