Here’s hoping some young players make some plays. Curry, Hunt, Johnson, Brown, I am looking at you guys. Vick, let’s see some magic one last time.

  • ACViking

This year was what Eagles fooball was all about from ’62 – ’76.

No saying it’s not the start of a similar cycle.

    But this is dreadful . . . .

Tommy, I’m sorry you never got that shutout.

Ok what would Miracle at the Meadowlands III look like?

      Andy keeps his job.

Re: Firing a Coach in Mid-Game

It has happened in the NFL.

In game 3 of the 1974 season, the Colts were beaten at the Vet by the Eagles.

Colts owner Jim Irsay Sr. came down to the sidelines and fired head coach Howard Schnellenberger in middle of the game.

    So it’s happened.

    It just won’t happen today.

  • lilmc

Way to take out the ref King.

  • shah8

I would like to see more Bryce Brown blended in the receiving game…

    • shah8

Not to say McCoy isn’t effective, but BB is more of a take it to the house threat–he makes clear that Shady is a bit closer to pedestrian speed.

      • scott_mather

That’s just silly. Brown is probably a bit faster, but not nearly the threat Shady is in the open field.

        • Neil

No, he’s right. If you give Mccoy a guy to get around, he will probably get around him, but he doesn’t have the straightline speed to outrun a whole defense for a td

          • scott_mather

Do you agree with him that Shady has pedestrian speed?

          • Neil

He’s really, really not a fast running back. I’d call him firmly average

  • NoDecaf

Any guesses how many current Eagles won’t be playing for anyone next year?

    • ACViking

Do you want to go the other way . . . the list may be much shorter

      • http://twitter.com/Khidr9 Khidr9

That’s a little harsh, I don’t see anyone who wouldn’t be a passable backup in the cfl.

  • shah8

And Riley Cooper is not that good.

    • http://twitter.com/daniel_suraci Daniel

No idea what he was doing there. Looked like peewee.

  • ACViking

Riley Cooper has trouble tracking long passes . . . not as bad as Nnamdi.

But he’s not the answer to our “Big WR” prayers.

    • TommyLawlor

Riley’s development has been hurt by erratic QB play. I’m not sure what to think of him.

      • shah8

He doesn’t have good ball instincts. Virtually the only time he ever had a good non-bangbang pass play was that catch from Kolb vs the Titans… And not to be all Al Davis, but the boy ain’t fast enough. The combination of low speed and poor ball skillz is a killer.

        • Baloophi

          …And poor QB play.

  • ACViking

Shades of the Old Redskins Counter Trey

  • scott_mather

At least we get to end this sweaty nightmare of a season listening to Brian Billick & Thom Brennaman.

    • Crus57

Not great, but imagine how bad Joe Buck would be with the Giants winning big.

    • TommyLawlor

That’s like going to hell and finding out that dinner is veggie meatloaf.

  • shah8

Got switched to the Detroit/Chicago game, soooo…mebbe dat Cleveland game?

  • eagles2zc

Fox switched over to the Bears Lions game. I’m actually glad

  • Gregory Post

Tommy, where do we go from here? I thought we were going to lose but…oh boy. This Giants team scored 14 points over the last two games. They have 35 in the first half.

    • TommyLawlor

Gotta be careful about making too much of a season finale. Brutally cold. Season is over. Coaching change coming.

  • John Ormond

Fox just switched ro Chicago vs. Detroit, and the game is blacked out on the season ticket. I guess I’ll miss the end of the AR era. Even though the game (season) was terrible, I’d still like to see it.

  • http://twitter.com/Khidr9 Khidr9

so when you write your detailed retrospective of the Andy Reid error and what went wrong – do you start with the 2009 moves, focus on playing fantasy football in FA two years ago, or did the seeds of this collapse start earlier, the loss of jj?

  • John Ormond

    It’s back. meh.

  • Crus57

3 headed monster at RB when the game is basically over?

    • TommyLawlor

      Why not in Week 3?

      • Crus57

It’d be kinda cool if Andy just decided to run it on every play for a drive or two, just for a finale.

  • xeynon

Was Vick doing his best Foles impression with the underthrown deep ball there? That wasn’t good coverage from Corey Webster, guys. A well thrown ball there is a TD.

Last quarter for Andy Reid. I’m shocked he has two time-outs left.

    • Baloophi

15 minutes until the time’s REALLY ours.

      • Arby1

Nice! You were saving that one, weren’t you?

        • Baloophi

          For about three years, sadly.

  • http://www.insidetheiggles.com/ CalSFro

After reading all about Chip Kelly the last few days, I started to wonder…what if he turned down the Tampa Bay job, and in turn would be more interested in the Philly job, because of the running back situation?

I mean, we’re putting all this emphasis on the QB situation. But last year, Tampa Bay was pretty mediocre in the RB area. Chip Kelly loves to run the ball. Maybe our stable of running backs will be what he finds most enticing if he comes here?

Dunno, just trying to keep my spirits up during the game.

    • TommyLawlor

I think the Tampa situation scared Chip and he also wanted to stay at Oregon with all the talent he had coming back. Was hoping for a National Title.

  • Baloophi

Nnamdi’s really played his way into a contract renegotiation, huh? What’s the league minimum next year?

  • Baloophi

Eli’s really done a fantastic job of loudly and clearly calling out the Mike on every play. Hats off.

  • Baloophi

Kurt Coleman takes crazier angles than Fox News.

    • TommyLawlor

How long have you waited to use that line?

      • Baloophi

        Too long.

        • Julescat

if Coleman were like Fox News he would be all pro. Check the ratings.

    “Automatic First Down”

I think that’s how I’ll remember this defense.

    • Crus57

      Along with King “1st & 20″ Dunlap.

      • Baloophi

        His fiefdom is vast.

  • ACViking

There is NO ONE I really want to watch on this defense.

  • lilmc

We have the worst tackling secondary I think I have ever seen

    • http://twitter.com/Khidr9 Khidr9

      and that’s AFTER trading asante

  • ACViking

Marsh has shut down the passing game.

Since he’s come in, the Giants have been scared to throw the ball.

  • Baloophi

The Philly fans in New York have started the “Eagles Suck!” chant… about 12 games too late.

  • ACViking

Trent Cole . . . haven’t heard his name today

    • TommyLawlor

      Very quiet.

  • Arby1

    Nice Rhino dance!

    • TommyLawlor

      That actually was kinda entertaining.

250 pound fullback who was an UDFA, rarely touches the ball, and hasn’t scored a TD all year. Let’s not undersell DRC’s progress here.

Lurie could have improved both public relations AND the defense by allowing one lucky fan to play safety today.

    • Crus57

Remember when fans would offer to pay to be hit by Dawkins? I think they’d pay to tackle Maclin now.

      • Baloophi

They’d make enough $$ to offset his contract…

        • Crus57

I dunno, you’d want to get your money’s worth, and he’d just tackle himself after 2 yards of RAC.

          • Baloophi

You’re right… plus, he’d be injured after the first hit.

  • ceteris_paribus1776

    Hey, at least they’re talented!

  • Steag209

Andy Reid goes out with Trent Edwards at QB. That’ll be an impossible trivia question in about 3-4 years

    • ACViking

Edwards sort of reminds me of Pedersen.

Out the way he came in

    • Baloophi

Fantastic observation. If there’s some sort of crazy halfback pass to end the game, the answer to “who threw the last pass for Andy Reid” could be Dion Lewis…

    Titans v. Jax

The Titans have 38 points on 28 offensive plays.

    2 punt return TDs

    2 INT returns for TDs.

    Both PRs by Reynaud

    Both INTs by Zach Brown.

Do the Eagles have any points off of a turnover this year after Game 1?

    • Steag209

Isn’t this also the year that has set a record for INT returns for a TD, yet we have 0? wtf? I hate this year so much

  • TommyLawlor

If Trent Edwards leads us to a comeback win, that would be the greatest Miracle of the Meadowlands ever.

    • Crus57

Frankly I would class that as the mass hysteria induced hallucination.. of the meadowlands.

  • Arby1

6 and a half minutes. When do the frequent sideline shots of the doomed coach show up?

  • Baloophi

JPP runs down Bryce Brown. That’s about right.

    • ACViking

But you have to like MM calling the runs

      • Baloophi

The last time MM saw runs like this was the morning after an all-you-can-eat burrito party.

  • xeynon

Soooo… the Bears commit an EXTREMELY stupid unnecessary roughness penalty by hitting Matt Stafford after he slides six yards short of a first down on 3rd and 10, allowing the Lions to continue a drive which leads quickly to a TD. Please tell me the Giants aren’t going to get into the playoffs again like this.

  • BobSmith77

This secondary is shockingly bad and it wouldn’t stun me if they have 4 new starters (2 safeties and 2 CBs) next year.

Defense is by far and away the biggest challenge the incoming coach will have to fix because there isn’t a lot of young building blocks there (besides Cox and Graham and maybe you throw in Kendricks & Boykins) and little holdover veteran talent capable of playing at a high level next year. Nnamdi’s gone. Ditto Jenkins. I expect they don’t bring back DRC after his play and effort this year. Cole had a really down year.
