PHI at DAL – 1st Half

This is a crappy year, but we can salvage a little respect with a win in Dallas.

Other than winning, the primary goals are for Nick Foles to play well and the defense to hold Tony Romo to a QB rating of less than 120.

Vick, Shady, Polk, Menkin, Salas, McNutt

We’ve got 2 RBs and 4 WRs.  Hope there aren’t any injuries.

    Bryce Brown needs to be more careful with running forward. I was not a fan of him running backwards on that play. He should have gone forward and at least minimize the loss on that play.

    Foles actually looking decent. Hopefully he keeps calm and makes some good decisions. I’m sure the defense will get him some more possessions by giving up some quick scores.

    I’d like to see Foles make a few 15-20 yard throws. His deep balls look questionable, but if he can make those medium throws, it should keep the defense more honest. Foles can’t just constantly hit the short routes and check downs.

    Brown having a good game so far. I didn’t like his one run where he ran backwards, but he ran tough on the long run and scored the touchdown on that drive (not much he had to do on the TD run, but still got it). Definitely a good sign so far for next year.

    Cole is having an absolutely horrendous season, but AR should have absolutely no ability to cut a starter at this point. Those decisions should all be made with the new coach and Howie Roseman together. I was not a fan of Babin, but I still think that was a wrong move in the sense that the new coach should have been the one to make that decision, not AR right now.

    That’s the type of throw I want to see from Foles. I need to see him making less check downs and quick slants and more throws 10+ yards. Those are not deep balls and at least pushes the defense away from simply covering all the short stuff.

    Foles has been pretty conservative with his passes. I wonder if this is by design, people aren’t open (likely), or if he’s waiting for someone to be open (the old McNabb “hold n’ throw”).

    I think it is partially a rookie being nervous about throwing the ball down field after being picked a few times in the last couple weeks. He has used the check downs a lot in the last two games. I do think we need to see him get some more balls down the field. It doesn’t need to be a bomb (although I would I certainly not be against Foles connecting on a bomb), but he needs some balls over 5-10 yards or else the defense will start to cheat up and making plays on those short balls.
