PHI at TB – 1st Half

Posted: December 9th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 175 Comments »

So…who is fired up for this game?  Tampa just isn’t a team that I dislike.  Or really care about.  I can’t remember the last time I was this ambivalent about a game.  I guess being 3-9 does that to you.

I am looking forward to seeing the young guys.  Big test for Bryce Brown, as he faces the #1 run defense.  Can Nick Foles have a good game for the 2nd week in a row?  Colt Anderson gets his first start of the season.  Should be interesting to see how he does at S.

You know my primary goal is to hold Josh Freeman to a rating of less than 120.  That streak has to stop.  Right?

Inactives:

Vick

McCoy

Salas

Polk

Kopa

Patterson

Coleman

I hope the coaches at least let them split time as safety. Sims should see the field today on defense.

  38. 38 Baloophi said at 1:40 PM on December 9th, 2012:

  39. 39 onemorebop said at 1:40 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Gotta work on his deep throws – he had McNutt there.

  40. 40 TommyLawlor said at 1:41 PM on December 9th, 2012:

    Pressure was the problem there.

  41. 41 ACViking said at 1:41 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Foles moves to the left and throws really well.

McNabb rarely moved left — only time I remember is the playoff game against the Bears in 2001 when he hit FB Cecil Martin for TD.

  42. 42 Baloophi said at 1:41 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Was that only the first “he’ll be sought after by many teams” comment re: Reid?

  43. 43 ACViking said at 1:42 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Interesting how the Bucs run between the tackles and get yardage.

    Hmmm.

  44. 44 Baloophi said at 1:43 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Must be some sort of fluke. Don’t worry, we’ll keep attacking the edges whenever we get the ball back.

Stop running toward the short side of the field. geez

  46. 46 ACViking said at 1:44 PM on December 9th, 2012:

    Re: Short-side runs

Anyone who watches Oregon and Chip Kelly know that his offense is explosive, in part, because he exploits the college game’s wider hash-marks.

He won’t have that wide field in the NFL.

  47. 47 Baloophi said at 1:45 PM on December 9th, 2012:

He would in the CFL. Just saying…

  48. 48 ACViking said at 1:48 PM on December 9th, 2012:

It’s like watching Arena League football on a huge field

  49. 49 Baloophi said at 1:50 PM on December 9th, 2012:

And how many guys can you put in motion toward the line of scrimmage at once? I also like the “import” “non-import” rule… I think your roster has to be at least 50% hoser…

  50. 50 ACViking said at 1:46 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Re: Eagles v. Bucs – old school

The Eagles routinely beat the Bucs by big scores in the early ’00s.

    Except once.

So Dick Stockton . . . please stop saying this is like the games from 10 years ago.

  51. 51 Baloophi said at 1:47 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Yeah, but it’s not like that was the only important game or anything…

    Randall Folesingham?

  143. 143 shah8 said at 2:34 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Watching the Vikes game, but just saw the highlight of Foles’ run. That was slower than Byron Leftwich’s touchdown run!

Holy Crap. Maclin threw a nice block

  145. 145 Thorin McGee said at 2:24 PM on December 9th, 2012:

How many rushing TDs did Vick have this season? Also, great block in the end zone on that.

  146. 146 Baloophi said at 2:24 PM on December 9th, 2012:

I think we start running the option with Foles…

  147. 147 A_T_G said at 2:25 PM on December 9th, 2012:

As long as one of the options is an end around, since every defender on the field will have a chance to get over to the play side.

  148. 148 eagles2zc said at 2:28 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Bucs are respecting Brown so much that it just might work

  149. 149 Baloophi said at 2:25 PM on December 9th, 2012:

There’s your answer on Curtis Marsh…

  151. 151 Baloophi said at 2:27 PM on December 9th, 2012:

    I can’t believe Andy didn’t take a timeout after that sack…

  152. 152 Baloophi said at 2:27 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Oh… he waited 7 seconds to call it. Sure.

    Foles bootleg sneak! Come on!

  156. 156 Dragon_Eagle said at 2:29 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Take the knee. Mostly bad things can happen from here

  157. 157 ACViking said at 2:29 PM on December 9th, 2012:

    T-Law . . .

You have to like what you see today from the defense.

Seems like we’re getting lots of zone coverage.

  158. 158 Daniel said at 2:30 PM on December 9th, 2012:

    Wow. Maclin blocked!!

  159. 159 Steag209 said at 2:30 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Tommy, if the defense looks like this the last 3/4 weeks do the chances of Bowles staying get pretty high? I think we all underestimated the effect of Wash vs. the world had on Bowles perceived ineffectiveness

  160. 160 Dragon_Eagle said at 2:30 PM on December 9th, 2012:

Nice throw from Foles even though it was just off.

  161. 161 eagles2zc said at 2:31 PM on December 9th, 2012:

    Oh man so close

  162. 162 Baloophi said at 2:31 PM on December 9th, 2012:

We had a 63 yarder made against us on this very field…

  163. 163 Corry Henry said at 2:31 PM on December 9th, 2012:

This is like bizzarro world Philadelphia Eagles. Maclin is blocking downfield. The secondary is playing fairly well. The D is tackling. What the hell’s going on out there?!

  164. 164 Daniel said at 2:31 PM on December 9th, 2012:

So would the defense always look like this without Coleman?

I haven’t yelled at the safeties all day.

Plenty of leg… would’ve been good from 65ish…

  168. 168 A_T_G said at 2:36 PM on December 9th, 2012:

That hit high on the upright. And whoever false started owes Henery some slippers, or whatever kickers like.

  169. 169 mawst95 said at 2:39 PM on December 9th, 2012:

One of the announcers said, would have been good from 70. Wow, he killed it. Missed it by 8 inches.

  170. 170 TheRogerPodacter said at 2:33 PM on December 9th, 2012:

AHHHHH FG hits the upright from 58 yards. damn!
i wanted to see his streak of consecutive FGs keep going.

  171. 171 Brandon Gleklen said at 2:34 PM on December 9th, 2012:

He’s so fucking good. Never thought a 4th round kicker would be worth it.

  172. 172 TheRogerPodacter said at 2:33 PM on December 9th, 2012:

did anyone see if his ‘practice’ kick from 53 would have been good or not?

  173. 173 ACViking said at 2:34 PM on December 9th, 2012:

OK . . . penalty on Mathis on a FG?!?!?!?!?!?!

    Now I recognize this group
