TB 17, PHI 14 – 2nd Half Thread

Frustrating half. The Eagles exploded at the start and looked ready to build a big lead. Then Shady McCoy fumbled to kill a drive and the Bucs turned that into a FG. That play changed things and it has been back and forth ever since.

Tampa has 10 points off the short field. They are not going to consistently drive a long field. You must play the field position game with them.

The Bucs blitzing has affected Nick Foles and the Eagles. The OL has made some mistakes. Foles has been inconsistent with his reads and has made some poor throws.

Bill Davis and the defense must play better. Glennon is 12-18-107 with 2 TDs. They are making things too easy on him. We’ll see what kinds of adjustments get made at halftime. I’d like to see more blitzing. Glennon is just too comfortable right now.

The Bucs have normally been a 1st half team. They led their last game at halftime and have led 3 of the last 4 at the half.

I still think the Eagles should win this game, but this has played out differently than I expected so far. We’ll see what happens.

I certainly am not calling that a “bad” throw. It was a good throw, but definitely not “great”. A great throw would have led Cooper better and allowed him to catch the ball without having to fight off the defender he had already beaten.

When Foles had time he’s been deadly, but I root for the jersey, so it doesn’t matter to me who wins the qb position. It’s a love him or hate him thing for a lot of fans. Meaning Vick or Foles. Been an Eagles fan since around 1976 and I’ve rooted for Jeff Kemp, among others. So there’s that.

Based on that defense’s raw talent. Gerald McCoy is great. Goldston is great. etc, etc, but alot of the Eagle’s successful plays have been based on these talented players being schematically out of position. That long TD was based on an all-in run defense look, for example–that’s just way too easy on the offense.

Tampa is discombobulated. I’ve not seen their games before today, but the defense doesn’t look like a great one this game. A lot of this is because Schiano isn’t doing what the previous coaches have done with press man, and Kelly is killing their zone defense.
Definitely a less bit of respect for Carson Palmer. No way he shouldn’t have been carving a defense like this…
