Today is going to be very important for Nick Foles. He is coming off the best game of his career. That didn’t fully erase the Dallas nightmare, but it did bury it for the time being.

The challenge for Foles today is to build off last week’s great game. He isn’t going to throw 7 TDs or have a QB rating of 158.3. That kind of stuff is a fluke. Realistic expectations for Foles? Play well. I can’t put specific numbers out there. We’ll know what a good game looks like. He’ll move the chains and lead the team to points. He won’t turn the ball over. Foles will make smart decisions and good throws.

A bad game would show a lack of consistency and be a big hint that Foles can’t be trusted on a weekly basis as the starter.

A good game will help the argument that he can be a good starting QB. As I’ve written before, we need to see Foles play well for 6 or 8 weeks to start to really feel comfortable with him. Good QBs are consistent. They might have a bad game or two, but you know what you’ll get on a regular basis. Foles has shown that he can be good. He must now show that he can be consistently good.

Inactives:  Vick, Tucker, Knott, Tobin, Kelly, Cunningham, and FLETCHER.

No Bradley Fletcher today.

The Packers normally run a lot of 3-WR sets. With Wallace in the game on Monday, they went to the I-formation more and just 2 WRs. If they stick with that, Boykin can shift outside with no problems. If the Packers go with 3 WRs, Roc Carmichael or Curtis Marsh might get lots of PT on the outside.

Jeff McLane wrote a good piece on Chip Kelly and package plays.

The thing that makes Peyton Manning so special is his ability to change plays at the LOS and avoid bad situations. Kelly has taken that idea and changed it. In his offense, the QB is essentially audibling after the snap. At that point, you know what the defense is doing. There is no guessing. The QB can hand the ball off, keep it or throw a pass. No matter what the defense does, there should be a safe option. So simple. So brilliant. But it does take proper execution to make it work. We saw that in the DAL/NYG games.

Michael Vick told Albert Breer that he is still a week or two away from returning.

Does he return as starter or backup? Nick Foles performance today will heavily impact that.

100% agree, I (along with everyone else) want to see Nick string the good performances together. Last year’s games are long gone, the Dallas game is behind him now, and so is the Oakland game; he’s finally earned a chance in the spotlight to prove why he should keep the starting job going forward, no excuses.

It’d be nice to put this whole QB situation to bed for a while, but until we see consistency from Nick, I think it’s all people are going to want to talk about (then again, it wouldn’t be Philly w/o QB controversy)

Keys of the game, actually pretty simple:
FOles get into a Rythm so we can rev up the tempo and wear down those huge Dlineman and Clay who won’t be in game shape..
    ….
Shut down the GB run game…

Let’s get it done today. I hate these trap games…They are dangerous, and you get little credit for winning

Coming off such a huge game, the pendulum has to swing back the other way. Hopefully not too far. I don’t expect a big statistical day, just looking for him to be “ok” and build from there.

I just can’t shake the Dallas game. That was such an awful performance, and then to turn around and have a historic game like he did is mind boggling. I just need to see some consistency from Foles.

  25. 25 GEAGLE said at 1:02 PM on November 10th, 2013:

You have already seen consistency in FOles…I would call a 3-1 record pretty damn consistent…he consistently doesn’t throw INTs, he has had 3 stellar games, and one terrible performance that didn’t even resemble anything close to the QB he has been these past 4 years…just go look at all the STINKER games Brady is having…throwing a football is like shooting a jump shot, some days you just aren’t going to have your stroke…I’m banking on Dallas being an ANOMOLY, but I guess we are about to find out..

  31. 31 GEAGLE said at 12:53 PM on November 10th, 2013:

Yes sir….I just don’t want to see a letdown performance after last week…the rainmaker isn’t going to hang another 7 on the board today, but I want to see this offense build off of last weeks game, the way the defense has been doing from one week to the next since the broncos game….I don’t want to see a team overconfident that overlooked the veteran packers

  32. 32 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:00 PM on November 10th, 2013:

Agreed. Going into the season I was expecting about 7-9. What I really want to see is steady improvement over the season, enough to give us hope that the Eagles will be in the serious playoff conversation going into next year – QB decision aside.
