MIN 17, PHI 9 – 2nd Half

Last week they outscored the Lions 34-12 in the 2nd half. I think I could deal with another explosion like that this week.
The Vikings offense hasn’t been stopped. Missed FG, TD, FG, TD. The Eagles defense must stop them on 3rd down. The Eagles are moving the ball. They just aren’t getting enough possessions.
Eagles get the ball back to start the 2nd half. Really important to go get some points, preferably a TD.

This has been a frustrating game.
An aside . . . Kaepernick moving left threw 65 yards on a line to Vernon Davis for a TD.
Impressive.

On that double reverse, someone has to have told Foles “Do Not Block Low”. If not, that’s a coaching failure. Just my opinion.
Have to give Cassel some credit here. He’s moved well, made some plays, took some hits, and kept them moving the chains.
That said, some professional level safety play from the Eagles would be nice.
His completion percentage went down a lot after the Logan hit.

Hell, if I am the Vikings I max protect if necessary and continue abusing these safeties over the top. See if Davis and the scrubs at safety for the Eagles can stop me. Keep them honest with a couple of bubble/WR screens and plays out of the backfield.
We kicked one FG in the first quarter, 2 FGs in the second. It’s pretty obvious we will kick 3 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th.
Need to see more twists up front from the D-line.

Love to see what this offense could do with a real threat out of the slot. It is painful to watch Avant who has nothing left from a speed perspective.

Looks to me like Foles is sitting back there for at least four seconds, which is plenty of time. So either they’re not open, or he’s indecisive. Or both.

I guess we’ve been beating bad teams. To be fair Vikings have been really close in most games and had the refs rip a game from them last week. you know they are pumped up — we probably aren’t matching that intensity.

Smith is historically a better KOR and Boykin has offered little to nothing as KOR over the past 2 years. Cost benefit analysis and I see absolutely no reason to have Boykin back there.

Foles has had happy feet today and he is isn’t planting and driving forward. A lot of stuff off-target and sailing.
In his defense, the O-line has generally been average to poor in the terms of pass protection he has gotten. Peters has struggled and so has Johnson who I have still have yet to see where people think he is competent in pass protection.

Oh believe me, Foles doesn’t escape getting his share of the blame. He was bad to below average for most of the game and his statistics for the day don’t really describe it that well, but you have to expect a better performance from the D when facing the likes of what’s-his-face the RB and Matt Cassel.
The whole game was a cluster-fuck. Piss poor game planning and management. Starts from the top and rolls down hill to everyone.
Oh, the D sucked royally, I don’t think anyone questions that. It’s just that the O wasn’t so good either.
So we’re in agreement then: Everybody sucked.
He wasn’t perfect, but I think he was a lot better than the emotion of a loss is telling you. He missed some throws and made some wrong decisions, but what quarterback doesn’t over the course of a game? Overall, he did enough for us to win.
Agreed but in the first half he didn ´t have a lot of help from the teammates and coaching. We can ´t expect manning play from him. It ´s just a shame that we were once again a good half team. But there is a lot to like about our offense reaction.
No kidding. I can’t believe McCoy only got 8 carries. That’s inexcusably bad coaching imo.

And both of their QBs are probably better.
I am in awe at the lack of execution by O and D. NFL = Not For Long…..
I know that philosophically the “every game is the Super Bowl” should keep them from having a letdown game, but it’s easier said than done.

As of today, extremely dissapointing across the board, with the exception of:
Heremans,Mathis,Kelce didn’t give up much pressure, OTs were bad
Kendricks was strong
Benny Logan best Lineman today

Offense showed some nice things, but it’s hard to get excited when my defense looked like Dallas last week giving up points on every drive for most of the game

Really disappointed in effort by the team. Many did not seem to have their head in the game.
even being a fan….I wasn’t that much into this game…and not really feeling that bad now.
Strangely, I’m not anywhere near as disappointed as I was after losses earlier in the year. Most of my ire is directed at Kelly for the non-stop passing. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss?

Including, sadly, the head coach. Blowing the timeout because he didn’t realize they needed to go for two… the non-challenge on the crappy spot before the 4th and 1 attempt… which then forced him to challenge a basically unchallengeable play on the next play… refusal to stick with the run. Weird game for Kelly.
And all that squib kicking. That’s coaching from fear.

Pretty crappy day of play-calling.
This truly was a rough game, but lets take a second to look on the bright side. Did we ever think we would be in the playoff hunt at all this season? Chip is still a rookie coach in the NFL and has shown the ability to learn from his mistakes. Nick Foles is still playing pretty damn well. Our defense obviously still needs some work but at least we were still able to hold opponents of under 21 points for 9 weeks! In summation, this game really really really sucked but things could be worse. Did you see Eli throw 5 ints? That’s right 5!!!
One small practice suggestion for this week: “Throw the ball away rather than take the sack” drill.
And step up and make a fair catch
