Its pretty obvious that the delay of game call on the Pokes was bogus, which means the zebras actually threw zero (nada, zippo, zed) flags at America’s Team. Bias anyone?

  12. 12 Teehee said at 11:34 PM on December 29th, 2013:

Seems like Riley Cooper was getting held pretty bad on that last 3rd down too. A win is a win though, go Eagles!

Yeah, pretty obvious. But I’m glad Dallas got that Td so they can’t whine about the stupid clock mistake. We clearly won this game period.

Great win, but a little too close for comfort. I was worried Dallas would march up the field, kick 3, and win. For whatever reason, that “sucky” Dallas d seems to play us pretty hard. Great team win, looking forward to you picking this one apart Tommy.

  24. 24 DarthBanner said at 11:38 PM on December 29th, 2013:

  66. 66 Maggie said at 1:58 AM on December 30th, 2013:

Not sure I get it. TV is all about ratings and Philly is a major market. Strange. But that’s ESPN for you.

  67. 67 BlindChow said at 11:47 PM on December 29th, 2013:

I’m just glad the “Orton leads the Cowboys to the playoffs” storyline was eliminated. I think the reason the announcers seemed to favor Dallas was they really wanted that narrative to come to fruition. I don’t expect them to be so unbalanced next week.

  68. 68 Crus57 said at 11:55 PM on December 29th, 2013:

I said in the first half that that phantom holding penalty we got was for defying the narrative.

  69. 69 laeagle said at 12:01 AM on December 30th, 2013:

We’ll be on the other side of that kind of narrative this week. “Last to first beats the Saints”. That’s just how the game is played. The game of dumbass journalism.

  75. 75 TheRogerPodacter said at 11:52 PM on December 29th, 2013:

yea, i really hope Tommy and the other writers really focus on this during the week.

  76. 76 Stephen Stempo said at 12:06 AM on December 30th, 2013:

It looked to me like they were blitzing a lot and clever blitzes that seemed to be knocking down the screen routes. Not sure why we didn’t adjust though we did hit some deep passes. We also started running it more in the 4th quarter and they couldn’t stop it for the most part. Wonder if we’ll see more teams doing that in the playoffs. It felt like they were blitzing every play.

  77. 77 theycallmerob said at 11:50 PM on December 29th, 2013:

  83. 83 Iskar36 said at 11:56 PM on December 29th, 2013:

Passer rating title, not QBR. He is 4th with QBR.

27 TDs and 2 INTS is the best TD:INT ratio all time.

I haven’t seen the updated stats, but I can’t imagine that he didn’t end up with the highest yards per attempt in the league. He had over 9 yards per attempt. Not sure if that is a record, but it is a crazy impressive stat.

  84. 84 TheRogerPodacter said at 12:00 AM on December 30th, 2013:

iv’e been wondering this for a while.
what is QBR vs QB Rating? does the R not stand for Rating? lol

  85. 85 ICDogg said at 12:02 AM on December 30th, 2013:

QBR is a recent stat created by ESPN

  86. 86 Stephen Stempo said at 12:04 AM on December 30th, 2013:

and to be clear a touch subjective in it’s application.

  87. 87 ICDogg said at 12:06 AM on December 30th, 2013:

It includes running and some other stuff that isn’t in passer rating

  88. 88 Stephen Stempo said at 12:11 AM on December 30th, 2013:

There’s a part of it that accounts for like game winning drives and 4 minutes or less passes and stuff like that. Makes it kind of subjective in that regard.

  89. 89 Iskar36 said at 12:12 AM on December 30th, 2013:

Yea, and to my knowledge the way it is computed is not fully known outside of ESPN. To me, that destroys the credibility of the stat.

  90. 90 Andy124 said at 12:13 AM on December 30th, 2013:

it’s terribad. i’ve looked up some performances where espn’s QBR ranks a qb who played like bantha poodoo ahead of a qb who played mediocre. it’s garbage and does not deserve to be acknowledged. the theory is ok, the execution is broken to say the lease.

  91. 91 BlindChow said at 12:03 AM on December 30th, 2013:

A lot of people still use QBR to mean passer rating, which makes it pretty confusing. I assume they mean passer rating unless it’s actually a ESPN article.

  92. 92 ICDogg said at 12:03 AM on December 30th, 2013:

The passer rating (not QB rating) is an official NFL stat

  93. 93 Iskar36 said at 12:10 AM on December 30th, 2013:

QBR is a rating system ESPN made in 2011. It is a rating system out of 100 that ESPN claims rates the QB’s contribution to the team scoring points. My understanding is that there is no publicly available formula for it, so a lot of people are skeptical about how bias or not it may be.

Passer Rating is a statistic that is based specifically on a QB’s passing numbers. There is a very specific formula for it. So things like fumbling or sacks would not contribute to passer rating.

  94. 94 TheRogerPodacter said at 12:02 AM on December 30th, 2013:

in this game, 263 yards on 26 attempts per nfl.com. the yards per attempt is only going to up (a little)

  95. 95 theycallmerob said at 12:18 AM on December 30th, 2013:

thank you my apologies, i shorten it as qb rating. Realize that is confusing, considering espn’s QBR

  96. 96 Iskar36 said at 12:20 AM on December 30th, 2013:

Not an issue at all. I’m not a fan of “QBR” at all, and honestly, to me the only thing it does is confuse stats.

  97. 97 theycallmerob said at 12:24 AM on December 30th, 2013:

Yes, he took 1st in YPA at 9.1

  98. 98 theycallmerob said at 11:59 PM on December 29th, 2013:

and, at age 24, best for such a young QB by a significant margin; next closest was 23 yr old Marino in ’84, with a 108.9.
    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_rating_single_season.htm

    2) MULTIPLE hits on Foles after he slid.

    not one flag.

  112. 112 P_P_K said at 12:00 AM on December 30th, 2013:

All those running plays on the last touchdown drive were a thing of beauty.

  113. 113 A_T_G said at 12:25 AM on December 30th, 2013:

In the post game, Chip said, as politely as possible, that they could sense the Dallas players getting tired and he told his players that they were going to take it to them. That must be such a good feeling to be in that position late in the game.

I also wondered if this is why Chip defers the ball to the second half, to force their defense to play more in the second half.

  114. 114 SeanofDead said at 11:58 PM on December 29th, 2013:

  117. 117 Crus57 said at 12:00 AM on December 30th, 2013:

because he doesn’t play for Dallas? because Shady was busy being tackled?

  118. 118 Stephen Stempo said at 12:03 AM on December 30th, 2013:

well he kind of did spike it like straight down. while Shady was facing away from him engaging a blocker. I mean yeah he was in the area…

  119. 119 TheRogerPodacter said at 12:04 AM on December 30th, 2013:

is that the one where Ware more or less bear-hugged Shady in the backfield?

  120. 120 Stephen Stempo said at 12:09 AM on December 30th, 2013:

I don’t think so he was around the line of scrimmage. I mean I didn’t hate the flag but I don’t think they HAD to throw it. The refs weren’t great but for the most part they let them play no ticky tack pass interference calls.

  189. 189 SteveH said at 12:35 AM on December 30th, 2013:

  191. 191 BobSmith77 said at 12:40 AM on December 30th, 2013:

‘Boys outplayed the Eagles tonight on both sides of the ball. Turnovers just absolutely killed the ‘Boys.

Even on Boykin’s INT to seal the game, a good throw there on that slant is huge and goes potentially a long way. At least to the Boys 45 and potentially a lot more because there was some open space.

This really was ‘Escape from Dallas’

  192. 192 SteveH said at 12:42 AM on December 30th, 2013:

Turnovers are part of the whole “outplaying” equation you know, its not like those things happen independent of everything else. If you want to tell me that we lost in the trenches on both sides of the ball I will absolutely agree with you there.

  193. 193 BobSmith77 said at 12:43 AM on December 30th, 2013:

Not really on turnovers especially the ability to force and recover fumbles consistently.

  194. 194 A_T_G said at 12:52 AM on December 30th, 2013:

That just isn’t true. The two teams played incredibly evenly. Both got some good runs and got stuffed, both got some big passes and third down pickups, both stalled a few times. Turnovers helped us, officiating hurt us, and red zone production won us the game.

  195. 195 BobSmith77 said at 12:58 AM on December 30th, 2013:

Up front on both sides of the ball I thought the Eagles were outplayed and badly in the passing game.

Boykin made a great INT on that last play but he was beat on that throw too and all Orton had to do was not put the ball behind the WR for a big gain.

  196. 196 TheRogerPodacter said at 9:48 AM on December 30th, 2013:

  205. 205 BobSmith77 said at 12:54 AM on December 30th, 2013:

    Under-appreciated tonight:

Fletcher: He was matched up on Austin almost all night long and Austin basically had 1 catch all night long that mattered. Been the most consistent player in this shaky secondary all year with the exception of the Vikings game.

Barwin: His play on 4th down tonight was huge as was his tackle on Murray to prevent a 1st down in the 4th quarter. Not the most physically-gifted LB but an intelligent player who is fundamentally sound & almost always in the right position. Really come to appreciate watching him.

Brown: He has been a punching bag of my all year long but he ran hard tonight and with conviction. Even though he had 2 carries tonight they were both important ones including his TD run in the 4th qtr. Wish he wouldn’t try to bounc every run outside of the tackles but he did lower his shoulder tonight & power ahead. Nice to see.

  206. 206 A_T_G said at 1:14 AM on December 30th, 2013:

  207. 207 BobSmith77 said at 1:20 AM on December 30th, 2013:

Chung was credited with 10 tackles (5 solo) tonight but will get all kinds of grief for missing Bryant on that tackle where Bryant waltzed into the end zone.

Was Chung really that bad in coverage tonight? I couldn’t tell since I was watching more of the line play.

I have no idea who the Eagles stop all the weapons the Saints have though on offense especially over the middle of the field especially Graham and Sproles.

Hopefully get 1-2 errant throws by Brees who is slowed by what is forecast to be very cold temperatures and hold the Saints to a few red zone FGs like tonight.

  208. 208 anon said at 1:36 AM on December 30th, 2013:
