Taylor Hart is the Early 5th Rd Pick
Posted: May 10th, 2014 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 307 Comments »The Eagles have a pair of 5th round picks. They opened things by taking DL Taylor Hart. I love this pick.
Hart is 6-6, 281. He can play DT in the 4-man line or DE in the 3-man line. I’ll need to study more tape on him to see if he could handle NT in the NFL. Hart is fun to watch because he squats into this odd 4-point stance. He then uses his hands to battle blockers. Hart is athletic enough to shoot gaps and make plays in the backfield. He’s strong enough to be an effective 2-gap defender. He also has a great motor for an inside guy and does an excellent job of pursuing plays from the backside.
The Eagles needed depth on the DL. Hart will battle Joe Kruger for a backup DE spot.
Yes, Hart is an Oregon guy, but this kid is a good football player. He fits the scheme and is very good value at this point. Excellent pick.

Welp, I like it. You know what they say about birds of a feather…
I like to joke about it, but I see no problem with Chip taking guys he is very familiar with.
takes some of the guess work out of it.
It makes “projecting” a player pretty easy. Think that alone adds a lot of value. Jimmy Johnson also took that approach and it worked out ok for him.
I’m way more comfortable with him picking ducks now that he has had a year to see what works and doesn’t work at the NFL level. He now knows for sure what it takes on this level, and he knows ducks better than anyone…so when he deems one worthy of a draft pick, I find that extremely exciting!!
I really wanted Jordan at 4th and Kiko in the 3rd round last year and this year I really wanted Hart and Mitchell
Lol I wanted Dion and thought we could get Long in round 2 and Kiko in round 3…pipe dream that turned out to be…
..
I want Hart,Mitchell, Lyerla, Lokombo(UDFA), I’m ok with huff….and wouldn’t mind Avery Patterson going Undrafted…..if we believe in Chip as a coach, why wouldn’t we believe in guys he believes in and has developed already…
I agree. But yes, I will be loading up on joke attempts… it’s a fertile area!
Here was my trained scout’s take on Hart’s stance:
“Taylor Hart really sits back in his three point stance. He looks like a catcher going through the signs, or my dog expecting a treat, or a guy trying to use an airport toilet without contacting the seat…”
Azz always liked Hart at Oregon. Guess who is coaching Hart at Eagles?
I wanted Telvin Smith, but he gone…
I really like the 3 defensive players we added. All 3 are longer versatile and tough players.
Agreed– also, they aren’t being counted on to produce significant snaps this year (barring catastrophies of course)— spot duty, get stronger, learn the scheme and produce full time year 2. Big fan of letting rookies learn from vet’s at first, then compete for starting spots year 2

@ Ark87
I saw your “Mighty Ducks” VCR post from the last post. Very nice.
I have no problem with any of the eagles’ picks so far; I’ll defer to the more informed, but they all seem to be good players and good fits in the system and culture. That said, I’m concerned that they haven’t added an OL yet. That unit had irreplicably good health last season, and there’s not great depth. I’m all for BPA (or picking from the tier or whatever) but I’d be willing to force things a little with the next pick if there’s a versatile OL left who fits the system.
Have been thinking about that as well– thinking maybe they are comfortable with what we have “in house” right now, guys might be developing behind the scenes and the coaches are satisfied with their progress? Can always add UDFA, FA’s, trades are possible still, and other teams’ cuts as the offseason goes along. At least that’s what I’m thinking.. ….(hoping?)
Very nice pick…but he can’t play NT…
…
Hart and Kruger will both make roster, but compete for which gets to dress as Thorntons backup(5tec)..Curry will backup Cox(3tec) and be a crucial part of our Nickle rotation, flying off the snap with Maaaaarcus daaaarling.
.so the DL roster is:
Thornton, hart,Kruger at 5tec
Cox and Curry at 3tec
Logan and the NT we get late(Deandre Coleman,Shemar or baeu Allen I guess)
…
7 DL, probably dress 6
…
Man we are building a nice Front!!!
Billy Davis and Chip know what they are doing in this draft. So happy to see emphasis on D rather than padding O. We all knew this needed to happen but things don’t always work out. Very happy today about draft.
and we still added two recievers, which makes perfect sense consider how much 11 personal we played last year
Very good dedicated receivers at that. Guys who will work their asses off and do anything to win for Chip. Love it.
but do they have the talent to win in the nfl?
I love Huff, he has some Randell Cobb to his game. He is a perfect slot WR for Kelly.
Im not a Matthews fan, but he do have the potential (I wouldnt have minded him in the 3rd)
Lol how will teams and their 5’9 nickle CBs defend a 6’3 215lb WR In the slot? Lol
don’t throw stones when living in a class house.
The Eagles 5’10 slot CB have showed he can cover 6’3 guys in the slot
We talking about the best Nickle CB in the NFL aka the bOy KING!
Sure, but how many teams have a slot CB as good as Boykin(g)?
I just want them to replace Square in the rotation. He was a disaster wherever he lined up. I don’t care how great your technique is if you don’t have the lead in your pants to keep from getting blown off the ball on a regular basis.
Was a rookie, can compete for a spot this year– we have upgraded the talent pool significantly this year
Shemar or Coleman would be perfect backup NTs. Coleman has crazy long arms and big hands.
Yup, 6’5 310…Chip tried to recruit him..plays in the PAC… I have assumed we would draft him for month…fingers crossed.. Perfect 2gapper.. Many view him as a DE(5tec) so a little more mobile than typical overweight NT…like Logan, really long arms, and Frame to easily pack on more LBs….
I think he is one of the few guys who can actually 2 gap already.
Absolutely…ideal two gapper. Makes too much sense for us…we better get him
As a NT? Any thoughts about using Cox as an emergency backup NT? (Just a question, looking for reasoning as to why or why not– not actually suggesting we do it)
Like the players they’ve been getting today, but really surprised they haven’t tried at all to address OL.
If we really want to go all out taking Oregon players, we could take Josh Huff with one of our next two picks.
Oh wait…
Who’s the Duck’s Kicker?
I don’t care but we better trade up for him.
Duck’s have lousy kickers and I don’t believe one is in the draft. One cost us two PAC12 championships. Bums, all of them.
Long snapper?
Long snapper in next year’s draft. Name escapes me but he is good.
Now the Bryce Brown trade makes sense!
Haha can’t wait to talk shit to Dorenbos on twitter 🙂 your days are numbered magic man…. I asked him if it was true that he makes Amish mafia gang signs after made field goals, he laughed and said it was classified intell.. Cool dude
no wonder ck didn’t fire henery
Probably a webbed foot issue…
Just grabbed another shot of Howie from the webcam in the Eagles war room…
Is Roseman the creator of Wally Gator?
That’s DAT flying away to KC…
so epic
God… I hated that dog. Laughing maniacally as I missed everything.
why cant i see photos?
refresh
thanks
worth it, huh?
yup
For those concerned about oline depth: Geagle and I have talked about the Eagles may already feel good about the depth they currently have. We have Kelley and the other massive individual (Tobin?). The coaching staff probably feels good about what we have.
Not sure Tobin, Kelley, Vandervelde, or Barbre should be in your long term plan for your aging OL. Bamiro has upside, but man he looked raw last year.
Only Tobin is up there in years, and he has limited tread on his tires. Everyone else is under 26. I like our depth, and while Billy Turner might have been nice, he’s raw like Bamiro.
Tobin is 23 you’re thinking Barbre, he’ll be 30 by training camp
Why? Yea he looked raw, but isn’t that what the season, and offseason are for with players in a similar situation?
Chip wanted Hart 1st in the 4th;Howie said he`d be there in the 5th
Good thing he listened. Shows Chip`s not the `I know it all`,and is able to defer when presented with informed ideas.
Also shows Howie has a great fell for the draft
Has been for a couple of years running.
Ravens got bent urban great pick?..did Josh mauro get drafted yet?
glad he learned after overdrafting huff
This swow`s that Howie was also in favor of drafting Huff.
Sounds like this is a group effort all around, not with Chip only calling the shots.
I think not waiting til first pick in round 4 to draft Huff was our only mistake..BUT the kid Watkins we took with the first pick in round 4 IMO was worth a mid to early third round I pick…so I just pretend we took Watkins in the 3rd and Huff in the 4th and this draft is PERFECT!!
haha i think we could have traded completely out of 3 picked up another late pick, but whatever. think norwood and huff are similar guys.
Right now would be a great time for a Brandon Graham trade announcement…
Seriously.
player for player trade maybe?
Who would you like?
Dion Jordan??
Sure… does seem like that would happen after June 1 (correct?) when the cap hit is less nauseating for our flippered Floridian friends…
I’m sure that’s the holdup.
A 5th this year, or conditional next year? Would you take a 6th this year?
The Eagles should take a conditional 2017 pick.
The condition is Graham is still in the NFL somewhere.
If he is, we get a 1st? If not, they get Shah8?
Jordan Tripp please
for a 6’3″ kid, his arms are nearly as short as the 5’11” Borland . . . who’s arms are shorter than mine. And I’m 5’7″
I really like how smart he is. I’m watching him against Oregon St, and St invites him in the backfield on a couple of screens, and he does not bite. He feels that he’s being set up, drops and blows up the screen.
I noticed when looking at Marcus Smith that Smith sniffed out a PA outside zone read. He was the unblocked man, he stayed at home, looked off the rb, then charged at the QB and batted the pass down. It seems like we’re putting a premium on smart defenders in this draft.
there was a quote about smart players being able to play fast, forget who said that but he was an EAGLE.
ILB Avery Wiliamson off the board to the Titans.
ILB Telvin Smith to the Jags.
Christian Jones must have tested off the charts.
Why do you think they call it dope?
Did the Pierre Louis kid from Boston College get drafted yet?
What about Tripp? Powell? Lokombo UDFA?
KPL is gone to JAX.
Thanks…damn it and they got Telvin smith..pigs having a good draft
KPL gone to Seahawks, Smith to the JAX
Took my up vote away from Tommy, gave it to you instead
I feel like this is what I’m told what an airline loses my bag…
Spadaro really grilling Hart on the mothership:
“Did you have a favorite Oregon uniform?”
Journalism 101
You could hear the sweat in Hart’s voice
I hope Merrill Reese isn’t supposed to be the “bad cop”…
Totally trapped him into confessing his love for the “all black” uniform…mmm hmm, it was the black huh? Dave and his gotcha’ questions
http://media.katu.com/images/131017-pink-oregon-uniforms-660.jpg
I believe that’s Donald Sterling’s least favorite uniform.
You can practice in it, work out in it, but don’t wear it to the game, that’s just not classy.
I am starting to wonder if Christian Jones is going undrafted…
7th rd. mettenberger isn’t getting drafted
So you didn’t go today, bud?!
GermanEagle –
What would “Mettenberger” roughly translate to in Deutsch?
One who sells insurance, right?
Sounds like a sausage to me.
nope, didn’t think it was worth it after yesterday. Was going to go w/ my brother but he bailed, so i bailed.
I went to Ikea instead. lol
hah meatballs alone are worth the trip
Ikea is probably only slightly less frustrating than attending the draft… especially on a weekend.
I’m still hoping we take him next lol
Some scouts had issues w/ Jones’s instincts.
That is, CJ had none for football.
T-law and Kempski like.
I don’t remember what D3FB said.
____________
I’m curious what Baloophi’s scouting report is on Christian Jones.
NT . . .
Spadaro’s talking up D-Square. Says Sq’s added 20lbs
Unless he’s roid raging, I don’t see him as a viable player. Played on roller skates last season.
Dave needs to be informed that Square didn’t get pancaked on a block, he got trucked
yeah madden style. but if you can bounce back after that good character
Sure, that’s why we all love Kurt Coleman, right? Oh wait.
Give Kurt credit, he got the tackle
Yup. Nnamdi would have cried, and pointed at T.Rich as he ran for a TD…..
Jeffcoat is still available. Get that talent.
I’d prefer Dufflecoat.
During T-Hart presser, CKelly called Villanueva, “Villanova”.
he said both lol, just to be safe!
he was translating for the english-only speaking audience
Dion Bailey and Ladler are there as well. Dion used to play linebacker.
Don’t think we have interest in those guys.
But we might.
Maybe as UDFAs
Sam’s dream might have to wait another year.
https://twitter.com/shlynch/status/465201004242169856
We can pick up Jordan Lynch in UDFA
Maybe he’ll put together a Lynch mob
We can’t make this pick…unless we will take Christian jones talent, I beg them to trade back and get more picks. We can’t not have a 6th round pick again!! Last year was unbearable….please, someone give us something for BG..we NEED MORE pics!!!
What would you pick now? I’m okay if they take someone now, and wait for someone to drop for our 7th…..
A LB..Powell, Jones, Tripp…but I really want a 6th to secure our NT Deandre Coleman
I’m worried….. Colt Lyerla is at bat. Ohh baby.
Geagle would lose his mind if we picked Lyerla. He’d be sending fruit baskets to everyone in the front office.
😉
..
NEED MORE PICKS!! Still need Lyerla,Deandre Coleman, ILB, Kevin Pamphile OL, Storm Johnson RB
Drafting Lyerla would undo all the positive feelings I’ve been having about this draft. Even when I think they’ve reached, they’ve reached for good citizens who can flat out play. Lyerla is a tool.
I honestly think we go NT or OL. Lyerla and Harris are now on the side of the road with their thumbs out.
“at bat” or “holding a bat”… ?
Holding funny looking pipe.
Caller on the mothership: “Excited about the draft. Just had a kid the other day.”
#priorities
He got his wife in the draft
Hopefully not a reach…
I’m thinking we pick up another Canadian guard. Come on, LDT. Welcome to Philly!
Bienvenue!
Lions take Princeton DT Caraun Reid w/ a 5th.
Highest drafted Princeton player since the Redskins selected soccer-style kicker Charley Gogolak with a 1st Rd pick in 1966.
CGogolak is the brother of Pete Gogolak, not only the 1st soccer-style kicker in pro football history with Buffalo. But PG was also the first AFL player to jump to the NFL.
When does AC get his own History Channel show? Maybe he has to drive around the country “picking” football related memorabilia… that’s “hot” right now…
I feel like it has to involve some absurdly dangerous blue-collar activity…tail gating?
This is a good pitch. Maybe he takes his acquired wares to pre-game festivities and tries to sell them there…
I don’t understand this comment from a BPA / Board perspective:
Zach Berman @ZBerm 1m
Chip said Eagles wanted Hart in the 3rd, said Howie had sense of where players will go, “guaranteed” Chip that Hart will be available in 5th
Confirmed Oregon bias. That Huff story about Chip nabbing him in the 3rd is also proof.
“Bias” is the wrong word.
Oregon is a successful program with good players that Chip knows well.
Not sure why you’re so bent of out shape about a single pick possibly being a reach in the 3rd. Watkins & Hart are great picks.
Let me ask you..how many modern Oregon players have succeeded at the next level compared to the number drafted?
add two more to the list
Consider hardly any have been drafted super high, I will say Kiko, Kyle Long, Byrd, Chung for a few seasons, Thurmond.
Forgot to add Stewart when he is healthy and Blount has been in the NFL longer than average.
lamichael james ain’t bad either
true, he has been a good returner, not sure why the Niners drafted him consider he do not fit their running scheme
I was going to say just Byrd, Ngata and maybe Ward. Stewert and Blount have some arguments.
Ngata was before Kelly.
Still went to Oregon though.
yea but Ngata was way before Oregon was a good team.
Chip has a high value on guys — higher than other people in the league obviously. I think that’s why we had day 1 and two overdrafts. If we used a third on Hart i would have had a heart-attack
I might be more happier with drafts in 2 years since Chip won’t have any inside sources at Oregon.
sounds like they had 3rd round grade, but other players also with 3rd round or higher grade (including Huff apparently) and Howie felt Hart would drop.
I have no idea who the Packers are going to take, but I know I’m going to wish we had gotten him. Jerks.
Maybe not!
Cardinals just took Ed Stinson…GB next, then our turn…PLEASE TRADE BACK!! Need more picks
kinda hard to trade back at this time in the draft not as many players teams wann go up ad get
Not to pile on . . . but I’d bet about now that Christian Jones is getting stoned.
I’m sorry. But that’s my informed opinion.
I would be together with Mettinberger and Gordon and Blackmon, damage is done.
exactly
OGs available?
Had Lamin Barrow — ILB from LSU who wore No. 18 last year — lasted 6 more spots, he’d have been an Eagle.
On the clock! Predictions?
someone I never heard of
NT=Coleman
Trade up to the 3rd round?
Take Huff again! Make it right!
The doubledown! They said he should have been picked later. Chip’s a man of the people.
Let them eat crow!
What Ducks are left?
Terrance Mitchell-CB, Colt – Drug tester
Shamar Stephen still available? Too high for him?
pick is in… Ed Reynolds, S, Stanford
Ed Reynolds – S – Stanford
How is he? Stats?
Someone on here is hot on him… D3FB? Insomniac?
I liked him but he’s inconsistent. He has upside and athleticism. Ran in the low 4.4s at his pro day.
Gotcha! In the recesses of my mind I knew you liked him!
Solid FS
doesn’t matter, quality name
When he tackles we can call it the Reynolds Wrap. So we’ve got that.
Is he a wrap up tackler?
I like Reynolds. He reminds me of Nate Allen a bit pre-injury that is.
Same
Things I don’t want to read about a draft prospect: he reminds me of Nate Allen.
I get y we took Reynolds. Really good value in 5th, but we had way bigger needs than safety…and we really needed to trade back
We have 1 sure player at safety.
I actually think Nate was ok by the end of last season. Wolf has potential, but he’s not there yet. I’m all for bringing some competition.
I like Jenkins and Wolff…doubt Reynolds will take their spots..he will battle with Nate, because I think Maragos is a lock for ST as our Colt Anderson 5th safety…Watkins can even play some…..I don’t not like Reynolds, I’m surprised he made it out of 3rd or 4th…just thought it was important to trade back
Its late 5th round, you do needs at this stage just BPA
Good gravy what a great handle!
Really didn’t want to pick anyone…wanted to trade back..,and I’d rather have spot smoking Christian jones..but I view Reynolds as a 3rd or 4th rd pick so it’s good value for sure.l.i just really wanted to trade back
He was projected in the 2nd round 2 months ago. Good value, good pick.
Wait, good value?? The Eagles can’t have picked him then!
These are what they are, but here it is…
found a pic of Ed, http://cdn.prettybirdus.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/7BurgerKing_TinyHands-256×256.jpg
So he’s basically running around with nubs out there, huh?
Might as well tape them into clubs….are pirate hooks legal?
Priceless
He has pretty good hands. He wouldn’t have had 6 picks in 2012 if he didn’t.
Ew
Heard he really wraps things up, clings.
http://confessionsofacouponclipper.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/mg_4786.jpg
we have literally addressed every level of defense except for ILB. I guess that’s why the 7th round it for. Maybe Jones lasts till then. There are still gonna be a ton of good UDFA in this draft.
Biseko Lokombo? Skov? As UDFAs.
I’d take Skov as a UDFA. He’s gotta prove he’s healthy.
Skov is really tough to place… I could see him getting chosen at any pick from here on out…
Aaron Murray is a great fit in KC.
Chip’s getting feisty with the press…
“Chippy” – duh. Fail.
Maybe Eagles think that Demeco has another London Fletcher in him…?!
Unfortunately, Demeco was resembling Fletcher by the end of the season. The current Fletcher that is, not the one from three years ago.
What DeMeco does on his own time is his own business.
Chippah begs to differ.
I know the coaches are very high on Goode and Knott
Chip specifically mentioned needing ILB depth tho…but I like both those kids
I think he will be here two more years, while gradually getting less and less snaps
The Eagles has selected 3 PAC-12 players.
Graduation for Oregon and Stanford is mid-June.
That means Huff, Hart, and Reynolds will miss all MTAs — just like Ertz last year.
hurts Huff and Hart less than Reynolds, I’m guessing.
Reynolds is a senior so might have graduated already
Not a junior?
Senior
Okay… confusing because he declared for the draft – I think he had another year of eligibility for whatever reason… injury?
He’s listed as a junior on some sites (CBS).
Had an ACL injury in 2011 so that might be it?
Must be. I read “4th year junior” somewhere… I just don’t understand the official redshirt designations…
Anyway, he’s ours now!
I believe Hart has already graduated…
Was reading somewhere that all have graduated already?!
Huff and Hart have already graduated, so can attend
And Reynolds is a junior…?
ER’s a rJr.
Had a redshirt-injury season.
But according to his bio, he’s a few credit shorts of graduating.
Found an article listing “gut classes” for athletes at Stanford. Let’s get this done!
DRAMA 103: Beginning Improvising (3 credits)
DANCE 156: Social Dances of North America III (1 credit)
PSYCH 125: Beyond Stereotype Threat (3 credits)
PSYCH 135: Sleep & Dreams (3 credits)
DRAMA 20: Acting For Non-Majors (1-3 credits)
SOC 120: Interpersonal Relations (5 credits)
ENGINEER 103: Public Speaking (3 credits)
CEE 64: Air Pollution (3 credits)
MS&E 47 : Financial Literacy (1 credit)
CS 547: Human-Computer Interaction Seminar (1 credit)

POLI SCI 2: Intro to American National Government (5 credits)
http://www.businessinsider.com/stanford-list-of-easy-classes-for-athletes-2011-3
Huff, Hart already graduated I believe!
Question:
Is that an exception to the (stupid) rule regarding players from schools that haven’t held graduation.
I’d think so.
But I’m not sure. (Should have said this earlier.)
Thanks for making this point.
Didn’t realize he was the son of the other Ed Reynolds, former Giant and Pat.
Patriots 1983 – 1991
Giants 1992
Kicker in round 7.
AJ “I’m to good for the senior bowl” McCarron goes deep in the fifth round to the Bengals. Karma.
He’s not a leader in the locker room or the field according to some reports.
This should play well in the locker room, though:
Cincy likes mediocre QBs so much that they need two of them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC08ByFV5Jw
He catches passes thrown right at him so he’s an automatic Chung upgrade…
He jumps some routes which I like. He’s what Kurt Coleman would be if he was bigger, faster, and smarter.
Eagles selected Stanford S Ed Reynolds with the No. 162 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Reynolds (6-foot-1, 207) earned first-team All-Pac 12 honors as a
redshirt sophomore and junior before turning pro, finishing his career
with seven interceptions. He played free safety for the Cardinal.
Reynolds ran 4.57 at the Combine with a 32 1/2-inch vertical and
9-foot-9 broad jump. Reynolds is not an overly athletic or physical
safety, has very little experience in man coverage and missed too many
tackles in college. Despite his decorated résumé, Reynolds will likely
max out as a third safety/special teamer in the pros.
Back-to-back 5th Rd safeties.
Both guys can lay the wood.
I think this guy’s gonna be a pleasant surprise — even missing MTAs
good instincts, we can teach him how to tackle.
Depends on who you ask. Rob Rang thinks the opposite.
STRENGTHS: At 6-2, 205 pounds, Reynolds possesses the lanky build scouts are looking for at the position. Physical and instinctive. Demonstrates good agility and acceleration to handle covering athletic tight ends out of the slot as well as supply deep help over the top. Reads the action and moves fluidly, showing a nice late burst to close on the ball and terrific vision and open-field running ability once he possesses it. Understands his role as the last line of defense and generally takes excellent angles in pursuit.
Force in run defense. Savvy defender and reliable open-field tackler. Breaks down well in space and delivers a pop on contact, often driving ballcarriers back.
WEAKNESSES: Missed 2011 season due to knee injury (ACL). Aggressive nature can be used against him at times, getting burned on occasion by cut-back runs from quicker ballcarriers. Ejected from one game in 2013 for targeting, displaying bad habit of leading with his helmet, which will draw personal fouls in the NFL.
Only one highly-productive season in terms of creating turnovers while playing on a defense with dominating front seven, and must prove he can make impact plays on consistent basis.
Saints got Ronald Powell.
Re: Jaylen Watkins
Meant to say last post . . . JW is earmarked for the slot.
The Eagles will not pay Boykin starter-money. JW’s the insurance.
Sorry if I’m repeating another’s comment
Why wouldnt they pay him starter money consider they keep saying the slot is a starting position?
For that matter, what’s the incentive for Boykins to stay with the Eagles if they won’t pay him or let him play outside because he’s 2in too short by their standards?
Super Bowls!
wow, comp pick!
I know Boykin’s doesn’t fit the Eagles master mold for outside corners, but @ some point, doesn’t talent outweigh preconceptions?? Flat out best cover corner on the team, and it isn’t close.
He’s a slot corner.
Will the Eagles pay outside-starting CB money to a slot corner.
That’s all I’m wondering.
The answer may be “yes.” I haven’t a clue.
Just projecting that JW’s the possible successor if things go south with BB
Think it’s if they value the position. He seems very concerned with how guys like Welker can hurt you.
Boykin will get paid..when it’s time to pay him we cut our vets and pay rookie contracts to the outside,CBs….
..
We look at it as how much we are allocating to a certain position. If you paying cheap rookie contracts to your outside CBs, doesn’t matter if you have an expensive slot…
JW’s a small 5’11.
He’s not what Kelly’s said he wants outside.
You banking on CBs in next year’s draft?
Maybe Fletcher gets extended, too, if he stays healthy
Love this kid!
wow
That’s a Chip guy!!!
No one watches more film than T-Law.
So, regarding Matthews, can he play?
______________
I don’t think there’s a higher-character, more motivated player in this draft that J-Matt.
If he’s not very, very good, it won’t be for lack of preparation, commitment, and effort.
Plus, I’ll wager he’s lucky . . . in the Branch Rickey-sort of way.
Luck being the residue of design. And Matthews does everything to put himself in the best position he can.
Love it.
Welcome to the Eagles, Mr. Matthews. You’ll fit right in here.
And there goes Jordan Tripp.
Rank these attributes as Chip would:
Hard working
High football aptitude
Size
Good Teammate/Culture fit
Versatility
Time’s yours…
Let’s add “Attended Oregon” to the list, too… for fun.
Or we can just add PAC 12? Either way I think it should be #1 or #2
Can we add High-motor, just so people can pretend Chip *hates* high-motor players for contrast sake.
Versatility,High football aptitude, Good teammate/culture fit, Harworking, size
BIG PEOPLE BEAT UP little people
“Character” — teammate/hardworking/committed — may be first.
If a player doesn’t have “Kelly character,” I think he’s off the board — even if he’s as talented as Clowney. Especially if he’s as talented as Clowney.
Then “athletic,” including measurables.
then “football IQ”.
then versatile.
It[s a trick question. They’re all equally important. CK probably spider charts based on these.
Character (hard working, good teammate, culture)
Versatility
Physical Attributes (size, strength, speed, etc.)
High football aptitude
As they relate to availability. HUGE.
As they relate to learning and following technique. HUGE.
As they relate to work ethic. HUGE.
All the talent in the world means nothing if you don’t have heavy doses of character.
When do we pick again? This sucks,,,trade BG please!! Need picks!!E
Looks like a BG trade is not happenning. Maybe for Dion Jordan trade plus picks after June 1.
BG is untradable….backup, first round salary, for a one year rental? Rather have the 7th round prospct on a cheap on year deal…sucks..hopefully we can keep him and let’s him leave in free agency
Over/under on long snapper 7th round? We have 0 depth there!!! Well maybe Celek, screw ILB depth I need more magic baby
TRADE BRANDON GRAHAM!
Need a 4-3 team with a 3-4 LB sitting around on the bench. Not going to get anyone who’s highly regarded though.
GEagle asked when the Eagle draft again.
They select 9th in Rd 7 (I believe, after swapping spots with the Bills as part of the blockbuster Bryce Brown deal).
