Obviously the Eagles will go after a PK aggressively. I don’t scout PKs so I’m not sure who the key targets are.

u want colt lyeria? as a player for sure!! but that kid has character issues. just cant see chip giving him a chance after all the stuff he did, the biggest being quiting on the ducks.

esp considering all the guys he drafted that graduated because its good to see them set and accomplish goals

  2. 2 TommyLawlor said at 8:31 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Lyerla is a major talent who functioned well under Kelly in the past. If he was a totally unknown problem child, I wouldn’t have interest.

  3. 3 Charlie Kelly said at 9:45 PM on May 10th, 2014:

he def is talented, and id be excited to have him, just dont think chip is trying to bring guys like him in the locker room. havent signed/drafted any character problems since chip has been here.

Carey Spear: “Carey Spear made Vanderbilt kickoffs a must-watch exchange. While the NCAA’s new kickoff rules made touchbacks more common in 2013, Spear was an absolute animal as a junior, launching himself like a missile at opposing ballcarriers. No one at Dudley Field would have batted an eye if James Franklin had found a way to sneak him in for a few plays at safety against Austin Peay last fall.” http://www.anchorofgold.com/2014/5/2/5669248/2014-nfl-draft-capsules-carey-spear-god-of-destruction-kicker-vanderbilt-football/in/5417501

Watch the size of the DL that Kelly recruited. Kelly wants LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG guys on the DL

  56. 56 Jernst said at 8:37 PM on May 10th, 2014:

I’m a fan of what we did this week except for trading Bryce. We got good compensation for sure, but who is our backup RB now? After watching McCoy writhe around on the ground like he had a season ending injury a few times last year, I’m well acquainted with the crippling feeling that accompanies feeling like we lost him for the year. If he goes down this offense becomes a shadow of what it is with him. And, with as much as we run the ball, for longevity sake I’d prefer having someone there to spell him occasionally.

  57. 57 Anders said at 8:37 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Kelly really talked Tucker up and we just signed 2 more in UDFA and we still have Polk

  58. 58 Jernst said at 8:45 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Yea I respect the replies guys, but Polk had about 24 non inspiring rushes and one untouched 50 yard run in the snow. And, Tucker and some UDFAs don’t necessarily inspire confidence. And, Sproles, while great in the passing game and with screens barely functions as a RB these days. I’d be surprised if we sit tight at that position. Especially for a team built on the run. The drop off from Shady to Polk is substantial and we are now set up to have Shady get 350 carries again while crossing our fingers that he gets up every one of those, because if he goes down were toast. Do not like that situation as it stands now. If Andy was the HC…fine. But, Chip needs more runners.

  59. 59 anon said at 10:20 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Bryce had solo much talent, but he wasn’t doing the little things, blocking, studying honing his craft. I loved watching him run, but it was sort of clear that he was losing his spot.

  60. 60 oreofestar said at 8:39 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Polk, Sproles plus gotta hope an UDFA ends up being a decent backup I mean a 3rd/4th for a backup you drafted in the 7th was too good a deal

  61. 61 Greg said at 8:40 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Christian Jones signed with the Jaguars…

Oh well. I’m sure there’s a reason he went undrafted, besides the positive drug test.

  62. 62 TommyLawlor said at 8:49 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Catch 22. He’s undrafted so you really want him…but he went undrafted for a reason.

  63. 63 Greg said at 9:27 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Like Chip said, if you really like the guy you go get him in the earlier rounds. Seems Chip had a lot of interest during FSU’s Pro day but either it was a smokescreen or something came up that made them change their minds.

  64. 64 mksp said at 8:44 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Jags always seem to get the best UDFAs, but I assume thats bc higher probability to make team.

  81. 81 Patrick said at 10:45 PM on May 10th, 2014:

Yeah, it surprised me a little too. I guess that the Eagles really are satisfied with Jason Phillips, Casey Matthews, Jake Knott, Emmanuel Acho and Najee Goode battling it out for the backup spots behind the obvious starters in DeMeco and Kendricks.
I would speculate that they were interested in Mosley and Shazier because from day one that could challenge for a starting job, but in my opinion, those two were the only dynamic options available. Maybe the Eagles were only interesting in upgrading the starters, not backups.

  82. 82 SuPaFrO said at 11:24 PM on May 10th, 2014:

U can argue both Telvin smiths flying ability and Jones versatility as play makers but u can’t help to wonder if the potheads thing would have given them a chance to have gotten drafted by Kelly
