Shady Love

I don’t know if Shady is going to play at this level for one more year, two more years or five more years, but he is one special player. Just sit back and enjoy the best of Shady from last year. Amazing stuff.

One side note…I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of watching the snow game. So friggin’ cool.

My favorite shady moment was in the second game against Washington. I’ll never forget the drive when he hurt his leg actually (and I nearly had a heart attack) he was just ripping off consecutive 15 yard runs. John Lynch flat out said he was as good as Sanders. I’d love to think the McCoy era last longer because he isn’t a between the tackles running back, Philadelphia pessimism tells me that isn’t true.

Sometimes he looks like someone is controlling him in Madden and just spazzing out on the juke stick

  3. 3 TommyLawlor said at 11:29 PM on July 4th, 2014:

He is freaky. Don’t know how he makes some of those moves.

  4. 4 Jernst said at 10:24 AM on July 5th, 2014:

I don’t know how the ligaments in his joints don’t explode sometimes when he plants at full speed and stops on a dime while accelerating the opposite direction. Sanders was short, low to the ground with thick legs and he bent his knees so much he was almost a foot of the ground when he’d make some of those cuts. Shady is tall with longer legs and seems to cut while being straight up sometimes. The forces being exerted on in his knees and ankles must be super human.

The best move I ever saw Shady spring was actually in the preseason game against the Panthers last August. He didn’t seem human for a moment.

My favorite? When he busted open the Giants and sealed the deal. Oh and..Kenny Philips getting his knees blown out.

Delmas in the snow game. He just juked him out of his jock strap.. And not just one play, he was destroying Delmas all game, jumping over him, shaking him.. It was a massacre. The funny part is Delmas trains with shady in the offseason. They are friends. Shady probably can never again look at him with a straight face without laughing hysterically at what he did to Delmas that game…just running back domination.

This should be a spectacular year for RBs. I don’t think Marshawn or AP will start slowing down yet. I feel like Jamaal and Shady really came into their own last year and this year coming up will be their biggest season(yes I know last year wasn’t their first big year). They were always explosive backs but last year I feel like they really matured and reached that elite level. Tho Charles rarely even runs the ball any more. I feel like everything he does is off a screen or a swing pass. I wonder if he evolves under Andy and develops into that Westbrook/Sproles type who will also line up in the slot, or out wide ..
I love shady but I will always admire the bruising backs. AP and BEASTMODE should have another big year in then. I look forward to see Lacy’s improvements. Thankful that the Giants didn’t draft him(they could have used a back going into that draft)….. Then you got your “space” backs, shady is the King, followed by Forte. Spaceback who I expect to really improve is Giovanni Bernard..
    ..
Think this was a nice rookie class of RB even if they were devalued in the draft. I expect Tre Mason to win the Rams starting RB spot at some point this year. Rams had one of the best drafts I have ever seen, thanks to RG3, the gift that keeps on giving. Thank God we play them in week 5 with Lane coming back…Rams are a dangerous young team and their draft was absolutely sick!! Tho they failed to get some WRs..
    LT: Greg Robinson
    DT Aaron Donald
    S/slot CB Lamarcus Joyner
    RB Tre Mason
    DB EJ Gaines

    OFF TOPIC!

I had forgotten how much my dog hates the 4th of July. It’s right up there with “Rabies booster day” and both Cowboys games in terms of toughest days to be a pet.

Some dogs detest fireworks. Others can seem to ignore them. Kinda weird.

My dogs were going crazy all night…the idiots next door to me had like professional fireworks going off like 50 feet from my yard…my dogs were flipping out all night. So annoying

So stoked to see Foles and McCoy in their prime next season.

  14. 14 GEAGLE said at 7:38 AM on July 5th, 2014:

Did you see what shady said about FOles this week? Exciting stuff

  15. 15 GEAGLE said at 7:34 AM on July 5th, 2014:

Best QB/RB combo in the game?
    FOles/shady?
    Wilson/BEASTMODE?
    Alex smith/ Jamaal cHarles?
    Rogers/Lacey
    Cutler/forte?

  16. 16 RobNE said at 9:20 AM on July 5th, 2014:

This is tough b/c in reality QB is worth so much more. So would you take Rogers and (almost any decent back) over most other combinations? Look how the Pats threw in Blount etc. who had a couple nice games (granted, against bad defenses).

I would have said you just don’t need a running game (see Pats last decade), but looks like the former college coaches are proving that wrong. Maybe it’s an inefficiency, where the passing game got so over done, D’s adjusted and became softer against the run. Or maybe better to say D’s can’t stop the run without selling out more.

I don’t think Carroll and Chip are trying to do it “their way” I think they see an inefficiency in the game. At least I hope so, b/c that would give hope for longer term success.

  17. 17 GEAGLE said at 1:01 PM on July 5th, 2014:

Good point…have to agree, probably have to go with the Pack..not to mention Lacy should be a monster this year. Love the young players they are grooming. Not sure if they can retain both Colbb and Jordy,. Big fan of both of those WRs..Packers signed Colt Lyerla and didn’t have to spend a draft big on him. Tney also got WR Jeff Janis who is said to be making some noise, but it’s not easy to make the roster as a WR on that team…one of my fav young players,Datone Jones is a beast who should have a breakout year on that defense. Clinton Dix should help. Curious to see what Clay Mathews and Julius Peppers give them,,,

bears also did a lot to boost their defense. They added lamarr Houston who is one of the best young defenders, and Jared Allen who is one of the best old heads in the game.. Added some quality youth to a secondary that needed it(William fuller and fBrock Vereen)

A lot of improved teams….fair share of underwhelming pffseason like that of the Atlanta Falcons, cowboys, KC had a crappy offseason

As way of advice, I would suggest watching the highlights with your volume muted, which seems to be where the volume was set during the editing process.

  19. 19 GEAGLE said at 10:04 AM on July 5th, 2014:

Ok…the hate for the Eagles is getting a little out of friggin control..
    ..
First FOles gets ranked as the 15th best QB with Andrew luck at #5

Now a bunch of experts were polled to see who is the favorite to win the NFC East:
27 “experts” have the Giants winning the division
18 have the skins winning the division
18 have the cowboys winning the division
0 have the eagles winning the division
    ..
Like am I being friggin PUNKED? Cowboys/redskins will finish in the bottom 5 worst defenses in the NFL and 36 people have one of those two winning the division and not a single person took the Eagles? What a joke

  20. 20 Brian McGaughan said at 10:57 AM on July 5th, 2014:

The division predictions list was Jimmy K reviewing the predictions prior to 2013, not for 2014.

That was from last year – same stats. What ESPN poll were you looking for re 2014?

In that snow game, Shady must have had 6″ cleats because he was excellerating away from people.

  24. 24 JakFTW said at 10:46 AM on July 5th, 2014:

That is the greatest spelling mistake ever.

  25. 25 Jernst said at 10:19 AM on July 5th, 2014:

Injury to shady is my biggest fear. Not convinced Polk and Sproles can carry the load in the running game alone if he misses extended time. Probably not gonna fix the depth issue this year. Looks like were just gonna cross our fingers. But, next off season, better depth behind Shady should be a high priority, in my humble opinion.

  26. 26 GEAGLE said at 12:26 PM on July 5th, 2014:

I used to not worry about it when we had Bryce….It’ def worries me now….I don’t even want to think about that,,,

  27. 27 Dominik said at 7:45 AM on July 6th, 2014:

What’s the status of LMJ? Still think we’ll pick him up as FA. Think the 9ers will cut him and due to his production so far, why should someone trade for him?

Of course, there are RB needy teams, but LMJ doesn’t fit any offense. Giants run a power offense, f.e., I don’t think he’ll be useful in that scheme.

But in our spread offense? Why not. It’s the NFL, the Front Seven is far superior to College football, but I think he could be a very solid addition for us.

If he’s on the street, why in the world wouldn’t he want to sign with us and reunite with Chip? With all due respect to Polk, he can beat him out as #3. And he definitely has a shot at the #4 RB spot.

Those are some huge holes and some great down field blocking

  29. 29 Sokhar20 said at 1:57 PM on July 5th, 2014:

Seconded on the snow game. I think that game is one of my most cherished Eagles memories, up there with the 44-6 dismantling of the Cowboys where Dawkins was completely dominant. Its still amazing watching Shady’s highlights from the Snow Game though, he still looks like he’s the only person not running on snow and ice on the field. Wonder if he walks on (unfrozen)water too?
