Sloppy 1st half. Bad Red Zone offense. Bad Red Zone defense. Stupid penalties. Poor tackling. And on and on.

The Eagles can win this game if they do 2 things:

1 – Score TDs

2 – Stop the Colts run game

We’ll analyze the RZ offense after the game. Combination of bad scheme and bad execution. Stopping the run is more about execution than anything. Players aren’t getting off blocks quickly enough and guys are not tackling well. Trent Richardson is running with conviction. You have to wrap him up and take him down forcefully. Reaching and grabbing won’t get it done.

Let’s hope Chip Kelly can work his magic. A takeaway or two by the D wouldn’t hurt either.

    This is like the Saints game. Had opportunities early, didn’t capitalize, now have to be even better in the 2nd half.

    Riley dropped a TD.

    Nick under threw Mac a bit, and Mac didn’t make a strong play on it.

    Gardner is getting killed.

    Still right in it though.

    Defense has been encouraging.

    I was starting to have faith in Bill Davis towards the end of last year…but yech. The defense is undisciplined and the play calling doesn’t seem to be very good.

    We need to get our TEs and WRs (other than Maclin) more involved in the offense. Can’t keep relying on hand/dumping off the ball to Shady/Sproles because that won’t lead to TDs in the redzone.
    Defensive side of the ball…Stop biting the play fake and stay in your lanes. Hit and WRAP up the ball carrier and stop going for the strip. Stop blitzing A gap on short yardage plays…Or if you do, make sure there is someone responsible for covering the flats which have been wide open all game and led to two easy TDs….

    OK. So let’s assume this game plays out as it looks like it will. I’m not terribly upset. Most of our issues are self-inflicted – some missed plays, bad execution. These are correctable. We’re not getting dominated and just outplayed. We execute better in the redzone and we’d be right in it.

    Pros: what I like most about this team is the ability to keep playing and eventually get things working. Foles wasn’t great, the defense wasn’t great, Sproles, Cox, and Fletcher were the only guys who played really well all night and they managed to get a big victory on the road against a quality opponent.

    Cons: I think they were really hampered by the injuries on the Oline (this could actually be viewed as a pro given that they managed to win the game!). The new guy out at RT really struggled. Kelly was ok, but the holes were lacking on a consistent basis. Foles also needs to be better for this team to make a serious title push. I still don’t think they are good enough defensively. The colts are a horrible running team that could run the ball tonight and the lack of premier pass rusher can’t be covered up.

    To me this looks like a good team as they were down the stretch last year, but still lacking in key areas defensively to be considered a favorite to win a SB. Still a long way to go…
