Wow, that was fun. I think I spent time on every piece of furniture in the room.
My favorite inconsequential moment: near the end of the half, Mathews caught a pass near the sideline, knew he had to get out of bounds, but drilled the defensive back waiting for him to step out, then stepped out.
The clock ran on that one.

i fucking hate it too, but i understand that the refs are going to err on the side of player safety so theyre going to call that.

but Sproles was pulled down on the 5 two plays later on a real horsecollar that wasn’t called !!

I’m sure theres a lot of penalties never called that aren’t shown on TV. Sour grapes!
Yeah, we had some bad penalties last week. They only focus on them when it affects the losing team.
Seattle had a touchdown yesterday that should’ve been called back because the receiver went out of bounds, but the play was never reviewed. Luckily they lost, so no one is talking about it now.
Next week no one will even remember the questionable calls, and we’ll still be 2-0.

Great comeback. This offense has had some hiccups but it’s clearly just as explosive as last year’s even without Jackson and with Foles being merely above average rather than otherworldly.

I feel ya — I’m a Big Bear Eagles fan and was down in the inland empire today…my sympathies for dealing with that heat!
Watching the Luck press conference makes me respect him more.

He took responsibility for the pick wouldn’t blame it on the refs. It was more the way he carried himself.
Glad we got the win, but also glad we will only see him once every 4 years. He’s going to be a top 2-3 QB once the Brady/Manning/Brees crowd retires. May be there already.
I can’t believe there was a time I wanted the Colts to take RG3 so we wouldn’t have to play him twice a year.
Uh, no he’s not there yet. He’s been very uneven so far in his career. The hype machine is out of control on him. He may get there eventually, but a huge percentage of his comebacks were caused by his tendency to turn the ball over.
He wasn’t impressive in this game. Most of their offensive success came from their RB’s, and the only time their drives stalled was when they put it in Luck’s hands. He had wide open receivers on his completions, but did have some good throws under pressure.
No, I heartily disagree. With a makeshift O-line, he consistently kept his team in it with clutch plays on third down, in the face of pressure (the few times we offered it). Guy played well, and I was commenting on that with friends during the game. He also had the bad plays, which I’m happy about, and which are inexcusable if you’re a Colts fan, but he was very impressive in this game.
Give credit to the Colts, they came in with an good and unexpected game plan.
i didn’t hear the question, but i’m pretty sure they asked him something like “what are your thoughts on the non-penalty on the interception”
his response was “it doesn’t matter what i think. at the end of the day its an interception and thats what matters.”
Terrific player and seems like an even better person. Indy is lucky to have him.
Luck is a class act. But, at least tonight, our guy is the winning qb.
Almost as lucky as we are to have Foles.

Umm, no. Steve Young was making a point to him about how hard it is to account for anything with the speed of the Kelly no-huddle, and Lewis’s response was, “how can you not account for them?” Umm, Ray, for exactly the reason Steve was just explaining to you, but you didn’t hear because you were too excited about making your own point.
Indy’s offense seemed to be like bleeding from 1000 cuts. Took all kinds of time but kept going down the field. Really glad they didn’t do that at the end.
I was wrong about Sproles. I wondered why the Saints let him go. That guy is unbelievable in the open field.
With how clutch Jenkins was with that INT and how terrible their D has looked so far, I think it’s fair to say the Saints’ FO might not be doing such a great job. They have Brees, and they beat us in the playoffs, so everyone wants to assume they’re a better overall organization, but I’d take Roseman over Loomis any day.
Chip is turning the game into a marathon of sprints. I watched some Australian Rules football this summer and the pace is very reminiscent of that game.
Um that’s b/c Foles was terrible in the pocket today. Probably got 200 yds on screen plays but missed most of the NFL quality throws he was asked to make.
Glad Mac finally got a chance. Could you imagine this offense with a guy like Luck??
Because the recievers could not catch! did you see the gorgeous td pass he threw to Cooper? the pass that Mac didn’t even turn and fight for? The Screen pass that Mac hesitated and didn’t catch it?

lots of dropped balls, not ideal throws, but this is the NFL, hits your hands, you gotta catch it. Even Bradly Fletcher got in on the act…looks like he was playing volley ball out there.

Some of them were just getting broken up by contact, Jordan Matthews had 2, Cooper had 1, and a lot of missed opportunity. Can’t get em all, but you got to get some.
He under threw 2 to Maclin. One behind a wide open Ertz. The Celek one.

Unfortunatley (I think) I watched it on ESPN Desportes. I didn’t hear Gruden. Maybe that is a good thing? Yeah it looked like it twisted him up and had no touch. I’ll have to look at it on Rewind.
Gruden loves to talk good about everybody. Always looking for positives in everyone’s game.

He was running a crossing route it was clearly behind him. It twisted him up. I’m not saying lay it in there perfectly in stride but bro…behind him. He almost broke his back trying to get hands on it.
Did you see him leap up and snatch that last one that Foles threw about 3 feet too high? The boy can catch footballs.
That’s not what I saw. I would call that a fairly easy catch for any NFL receiver, plus by “turning him around” he put him in good position to get extra yards. Maybe I need to watch it again because it didn’t look to me like Ertz needed to break his back.
I agree on every single one of those BUT there were a bunch of bad passes too.
It was a combination of him being slightly off on some, and receivers not making others. He wasn’t great, I give him a C+. But he wasnt’ terrible, either. People need to learn perspective.
Listening to his press conference i think he knows he’s fucking up. But he’s trying to stay positive which is great. McCoy is also upset with how he’s playing. Wil be nice once all those guys get it together.
I think the really scary thing is that neither he nor McCoy have really played their best yet and we’re still putting up points. If/when they get it together, it’s going to be frightening for the rest of the league.
So about Riley Cooper: great stat line tonight! 1 catch for 8 yards! What does that put him on the season? 2 catches for 20 yards?

Foles and Mac need to go on vacation together. Foles looks bad throwing the ball. The problem is we run so many screens maybe he doesn’t get enough practice passing downfield in practice. Makes you wonder if Djax was making Foles look good.
Honestly, i think by game 6-8 Foles and Mac will be connected and it’ll be over. Just gotta be happy we have the best offensive mind in league — by far. And a defense that can look ugly but generate turnovers.
That defense held Luck to 172 passing yards. Let’s see who keeps Luck under 200 for the rest of the year.

I dunno that fade TD to Cooper would have been a TD both times. one time cooper dropped it and the second time he was literally held. Give Foles those 2 catches and he’s over 400 and 3 td’s.
Honestly it was a combination (Key drops and some missed passes), but I thought Foles looked much more decisive this week (still not as good as last year) and hopefully he builds on that.
The receivers were the bigger problem in this game. Way too many drops.

Unfortunately, I missed a bunch of the game. Commentators were saying the Colts had no pass-rush, but the Iggs didn’t get any
sacks and had one less QB hit than the loathsome Colts D. In the previous thread someone mentioned this could’ve just been a credit to Luck getting the ball out. Can anybody add to this? And is Kendricks ok???

Actually, I thought they did alright – doesn’t show up in terms of sacks, but they did hit Luck a few times and definitely forced him to move. Not a dominating performance by any stretch, but not awful. Luck didn’t have worlds of time to pick us apart.
Got the last play which was the biggest play of all.
Practically nonexistent. We kept blitzing the A gap but couldn’t get home.
There were some plays where Luck had about 57 seconds to throw. Good coverage considering.
Gruden sounded like a schoolgirl when he talked about Andrew Luck. Especially about AL’s “hard count.”
Remember the Omaha fiasco last year when playing the Broncos?
Since that game, “Omaha Omaha” is a joke when we play touch football.
Eagles got 2 turnovers. Not much else good to say about the defense. Colts ran us for like 200yds but luckily they went away from the run when it mattered most.
Darren Sproles is a better back for the system than Shady is. It’s going to be interesting to see how that works.
Foles was a mixed bag. Lots of bad passes but no bad mistakes, few sacks if any. Mac looked terrible dropped a lot of balls.
We play GREAT in the second half of games — and we win games. I couldn’t be happier. Hope Kendricks is ok otherwise it’s going to be tough on D.
Yeah, I felt like Kendricks was starting to hit his stride. Eating up tackles today before going down. And can be a good threat for that pass-rush.
Shady is hampered by the state of the OL. when Johnson and Mathis are back, I’m sure you won’t be saying the same.

Colts ran the ball too many times especially in the 2nd half and too many touches to the throughly mediocre Richardson. Glad they did. Didn’t challenge this secondary nearly enough.
Thing that really aggregated me about the eagles were the penalties. Too many and too many dumb ones tonight.

McCoy made a lot out nothing tonight. Oline run blocking was pitiful. They had a few plays where they got just enough of a space but got no push and missed a lot of assignments tonight.
I agree. He made magic. However I get sick of seeing the dancing every play. Sometimes you have to take the 2 or 3 yards you can get going forward.

We got some bad calls. We went in to stop Luck… achieved. Iffy calls by refs and coaches went both ways. What’s your problem again?
I’m glad we won. But we looked incompetent for huge stretches of the game. You’d have to have your own head up your ass not to see that.
that’s ok. We got 2 turnovers when we needed. We have playmakers and a coach that can call an offenive game.
The team has yet to play a full four quarters of quality football under Kelly. But they’re winning.

Eagles are 1-1U-0-0. Does that still put them in first place?
An ugly win over a likely playoff team is something we couldn’t manage against the Saints in January. There were some BS calls on us in the Red Zone too (Kelce’s non-contact on a hands to the face penalty even got Gruden to say something), but we came back with a 19 yard Sproles TD. Bottom line, bad calls and poor scheming by the opponent are going to happen. I’m just glad we have a coach that can get a below-average day out of his QB and turn it into a win. Doesn’t hurt that our two major offseason additions basically sealed this win for us.
Kelly Green is my favorite flavor of Kool-Aid.

Defensively this felt like the Saints game. Focus everything on the elite QB just to hold him in check, not stop him, and let an unremarkable run game beat us up a bit. Thankfully it wasn’t enough. They basically ran at will between the 10’s and had luck punch it in.

it’s coming. Colts are probably the 3rd best team in the AFC. They could easily be in the AFC championship game. Big win tonight, especially given injuries and everything else.

there were a few times where Davis schemed a GREAT blitz. we had guys coming through the middle in waves on one play. the last guy coming up the middle unblocked and got the pressure. it was great to see
I did hear them mention that Davis kept dialing this up. Apparently the Colts’ interior line is pretty bad, so it’s good to see our coaches attack there. I’ve seen it said elsewhere, and I agree, Chip’s good at scheming (and I mean in the over-arching way – not that he’s calling Davis’ formation on D or anything)… It’s so refreshing!
the blitz that i’m thinking of was actually a variation of the one they kept calling. they had the two guys up the middle like they were doing a lot of that game, but then i think Barwin looped around from the side and came up the middle with no one to block him. worked really well
I noticed that too. the first two were just decoys that would essentially engage the O-linemen just to take them out of the play to create space for the 3rd rusher. I liked that.
Westbrook – Kelly preached all offseason about size but it is the smallest guy on the team making the plays.

3-1 into the bye and beating the Skins was about as good as I could have expected.

Too many touches to Richardson. Bradshaw is a much better back overall but I do wonder how many touches the colts were willing to give him.

About the INT. Reading several posts, especially at BGN, that Boykin got away with one. I fully disagree. During this play, watch Hilton’s right foot (not good with video yet), TY is trying to cut back to the right, and you can see his right foot slip on the turf. Brandon was playing tight, but, to me, it looks like Hilton was on his way down and tried to draw the penalty.

I liked Deone, but Chip knows him and obviously didn’t. Su’a Filo would have been nice, but had Mathis not got hurt, wouldn’t have played much this year. Lee? Meh. KVN, you could make the argument but once again he wouldn’t have likely seen much in the way of snaps this year other than rotationally or in packages.

Guys, we just beat the Colts in THEIR HOUSE, and we didn’t even bring our A-game. Everybody just take a breath, and enjoy the W. Stop worrying, we’re 2-0 and we haven’t seen the best of this team yet. Oh and our O-line is a hodge-podge of back-ups, the starters will return.
If you don’t like the way the Eagles looked in that win, get excited because we snuck out of Indy with a tough win on a tough schedule at well less than 100%. Let’s see how the rest of the NICE handles Andrew Luck.

The Eagles will be one of the best teams in the NFL this year, but what people need to understand is we need to still grow into that team. It wasn’t realistic to expect that team to show up in September, I think we picked up where we left off at the end of last year which is a good sign, but we will need 4 to 8 games to really grow into the powerhouse we are capable of being….of course OL injuries set us back a bit….but this group will grow into one of the top teams this year.. To see them learn to overcome rough time and learn to find a way to win is HUGE for a growing team… It probabky better off for team building that we are forced to overcome some adversity now….it will come in handy down the road much more than if we were just rolling over teams without a care in the world right now…

Every win should be celebrated. Ugly games happen, but it’s HUGE for a young team to learn to overcome these rough times and still find a way to win when things aren’t going smoothly for us….

I am one who thought Colts would score over 30. I didn’t think our offense would struggle that much. I expected a passing game from the Colts, not a running game. Interesting that the Colts felt the need to try and trick us… They abandoned what they do, didn’t see much airing out to the 3 WRs, didn’t see many passes to the two tight ends…they attacked us with a gameplan we would have never prepared for. No chance that we expected them to run the ball out of unbalanced lines all night.. We had plenty of struggles which I didn’t enjoy, but we buckled down, got it together and showed mental and hysically toughness.
