Good Win For Eagles
Posted: November 23rd, 2014 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 400 Comments »The Eagles beat the Titans 43-24 to improve to 8-3 and remain atop the NFC East. The Eagles dominated much of the game, but made enough mistakes to keep the Titans in it longer than they should have been.
It was good to see LeSean McCoy have a big game. He was 21-130-1 and sat out most of the 4th quarter. The line blocked well and got McCoy to the second level multiple times. That’s where he can be special, with his ability to make guys miss.
Mark Sanchez threw 2 INTs. One of them was a mix-up between him and Riley Cooper. The other was a terrible throw over the middle. He did have one beautiful TD pass, a throw on the move to James Casey. Sanchez mostly played well, but still has to clean up his game as the Eagles get ready to play some tough teams in the coming weeks.
The defense was fantastic for most of the day. They stunk in the 2nd Qtr, giving up 17 points and big plays. The defense did come up with 5 sacks and 3 takeaways.
STs went back to being a good thing. Josh Huff ran the opening KO back 107 yards for a TD. Cody Parkey was 5 of 6 on FGs, with his only miss hitting the upright.
Any concerns about the Eagles having a letdown performance went away pretty quickly. Huff took the opening kick back for a TD and the Eagles quickly built up a 17-0 lead. There was a lot of fan and media talk about the Packers game from last week and the upcoming Cowboys game, but the players stayed in the moment and gave their full attention to the Titans.
This wasn’t the most efficient or clean game I’ve ever seen, but the Eagles played like the better team. Compare this to the opener vs JAX when the Eagles were sloppy and got down 17-0. There was none of that today. The 2-8 Titans had one good quarter, but the Eagles were in control throughout the game.
The Eagles seemed to come out of the game healthy, which is critical with Dallas being just 4 days from now.
Go Eagles.
Dallas sucks.
_
Life is good.
why didnt huff return any more kicks after the TD?
to keep his game clean. build confidence with the power of time over matter.
lol… ok.. but why didnt he return any more kicks after scoring the longest KR in eagles history doe? lol
It’s a short week leading up to dallas. have to keep him fresh.
Sounds like they only have him running back a few play calls. According to Chip, Fipp just dialed up returns that Polk has practiced for the rest of the game.
Scanning down the page real fast n i thought u said Go Ducks.. lol..
nah..
Go Eagles.
Dallas sucks
Dallas sucks.
we may be down on smith..but we have our ROY in Parkey. Good find by the FO. just look at the lions kicking game which is a mess right now. let’s give howie and company credit for a great find.
The only person I’m down on is Cooper.
Yeah – its bad that he can’t catch those horrible passes that Sanchez lobbed his way!
There were some super shitty passes out there.
Was Cooper`s initial block that sprung McCoy for his 50 yrd. run.
On this year’s team, I wonder if any of the WRs could have been plugged in and made the same block?
Or the nice SL catch inside the 5 yard-line?
One thing’s for sure, Cooper’s not catching long passes — whatever the reason — like he did in 2013.
Gotta say though, I LOVED the play when he caught the screen then absolutely trucked the DB. Wish I could find a gif of that.
Maybe yes , maybe no…but he made the block that let Sproles waltz into the endzone against Carolina.
Seems like Kelly works his blocking prowess into the game-planning, which adds points on the board.
Why doesn`t he use someone else, since obviously others are better at running routes and catching the ball?
There is nothing to be down on Smith about….. Their isnt a rookie OLB in the NFL that is going to play instead of Barwin and COLE when they are putting up two sacks each playing at a probowl level, with beastly randon Graham taking whatever scrap snaps are available……?
…
Are people that nuts that a kid who never played ILB can’t learn a new position in the middle of the season, in one months time well enough to play at a NFL level? Lol
…
We use 3 special team players with his body type. How can you play Marvus when Braman, James Casey and Burton chip called some of the best ST. players in the NFL
.
There in no reason to be down on Marcus. It’s like if we draftf taylor Lewan, would we be down on him because he sat on the bench all year because jason peters was healthy?
I appreciate your optimism, but frankly, he should be earning at least some playing time beyond what he has so far. OLB is a position where players can get rotated in and as a first round pick, you should be impressing the coaches enough to justify that playing time. Furthermore, Chip himself said that he expects Smith to be doing more, so this isn’t simply a matter of the guys in front of him being too good to take off the field. The coach himself is saying they want a reason to put Smith on the field but Smith isn’t providing one yet.
It is still early in his career, but there are plenty of reasons to be down on him so far.
philly.com didn’t agree with you today .. I cited your insights in the comments. ive read pretty much all your analyses so im cool with it this season.
and might as well own up to being happy that Josh Huff STFD’d me quite nicely!
way to go Josh Huff indeed!
Shame that the defense wasted holding them to 2/12 on 3rd down conversions giving up to many big plays… I assume we would respect and fear the Cowboys passing attack much more than we did today so hopefully we can keep giving ho the big playes to a minimum…
…
Was nice to see our front 4 generate so much pass rush without having to blitz. People wonder why the first round pick doesn’t play when our starting OLBs notch two sacks a piece and BG airs Beasting off the bench? Cox was Dominany….
…
No point in harping on this win, dallas is around the corner
After last week, a little harping is good for the soul. Barwin, Cole, Graham and Kendricks and the DL are playing great and that may have been the OLs best game of the season.
Def some good to take from the win. We got pressure on the QB today without having to blitz. That’s extremely important if we have to go up against top QBs in the playoffs who pick you apart if you try and blitz them…. Also nice to see our tun game going, Tho it shouldn’t be a surprise. We weren’t getting Kelce and.mathis playing at an elite level so there was no reason to be concernd about the run. We just needed them to work their way back to elite level after the injury, and we definitely saw the best LG In the game back at it tody when we trampled the left side with our run game all day…
…
Plenty of good in a big 40 point b
Double digit win….. but we need to be sharper and play a cleaner game to beat dallas
Yup. Hopefully this configuration of the OL stays healthy and builds that continuity over the next few weeks. You need that as much as you need talent. Get that, and stay committed to the run game and we’ll be better off.
I hope we can cut down the turnovers. But at this point in his career, I’m not optimistic enough to expect Sanchez to fix that part of his game.
I vote to keep Garner instead of putting Tobin back in. Think back to all the times we ran the ball well this year, bet a big percentage came with Garner in the game. Some players just can’t switch side with ease. I don’t like Tobin at RG anywhere near as much as I do at LG.
Agreed.
The Titans seemed to use a lot of man-to-man pass-protection schemes.
At least two sacks for sure came from Barwin and Cox twisting late and not getting picked up by TN’s LG (Andy Levitre).
On another sack by Cole, in the gap between LOT Lewan’s and Levitre, Lewan seemed to be expecting help from the G.
That said, compliments to Davis for what I’ll assume was his game-plan to try to exploit what — to this layperson — seemed like a poor TN O-line’s ability to pass rushers off to blockers next to them.

Frankly, though, this is a job for D3FB.

Must dissent.
While Cooper seemed to run a sloppy route given where the pass was . . .
Sanchez seemed to throw an even worse pass.
He never looked left before throwing the ball — which is fine, since he was reading the safeties and expecting Cooper to be in a spot.
That spot was where Sanchez threw the ball . . .
But the only player breaking hard on that ball was the DB.
Cooper seemed a step-and-a-half from the pass.
Sanchez and Cooper have had about a month to iron out those sorts of timing problems. (I didn’t see any timing problem on the roll-out TD to Casey . . . and he gets less reps than Cooper.)
I think Sanchez just missed on the pass.
If he didn’t, then Cooper must have run a lousy route.
_______________
As for post-game explanations from the any team source, I don’t buy any of them.
Kelly won’t tell you what time it is if he can avoid it.
I think Cooper could have shown more effort on the play, but I agree. Sanchez either should not have thrown that ball at all or put it in a much better spot.
Sanchez should have thrown the ball to the outside when he saw the DB undercut the route. Instead, he threw it underneath right to the DB. Cooper would have had a TD if the ball was over his outside shoulder.
I love where Sanchez put the ball for Shady ..he had that same angle on Celek TD last week. that’s a nice veteran throw that we haven’t seen Nick make.
“Kelly won’t tell you what time it is if he can avoid it.”
But – unlike his predecessor – he does actually know what time it is.
Are you making this deduction entirely based on time out usage?
Because I think that’s entirely valid.
Sanchez said after the game that he and Cooper weren’t on the same page on the play. I’m trusting his explanation.
Tommy Lawlor once said that players are the worst source of information. I agree with Tommy Lawlor. 🙂
Tommy Lawlor is an even worse source than players!!!
^^Every once in a while, Tommy says something I disagree with.
Thus proving Tommy is unreliable
T-Law:
If you’re satisfied, then I am.
You’re a much better barometer than I.
Cooper didn’t locate the ball until after the DB had already broke on the pass and cut off Coop’s route. Still looks like a bad result based on anticipation. Problem was the DB was reading him the whole time.
Re: Cooper . . .
That’s happened a couple times this season — on this pattern, I believe.
Once earlier with Foles.
Now Sanchez.
At this point in the season, Cooper surely shouldn’t be having that kind of problem if the QBs are throwing on time.
If he is, that would suggest — and only the team knows — that the QBs are in error.
Clearly, though, something’s not working with this play-call . . . or at least with Cooper running this route.
Good win, its a testament to how high our expectations are that a win to improve to 8-3 barely moves the needle and concerns still linger for the games vs Dallas & Seattle coming soon…but those 3 games will decide our season; we’ve beaten many bad teams like TN, but we need 2 wins vs good teams in these next 3 games IMO…that would likely secure us the division and a good playoff position; if we fall into the wild card mix things could get ugly.
The Eagles are good team, at home against a retched Titans team with a rookie QB and lousy defense.
Yes, the Birds should have won.
That’s what good teams do.
Couldnt see game. On the KO for TD was it really good blocking or remarkable play by Huff? Really rooting for him and want him to do some good. What was the injury to Acho? We are already thin at ILB and we have some really good RBs coming up. Im more worried about Lynch then Murray.
Good blocking, good return. Huff hit the hole and fought off a few tacklers in the open field.
One was the kicker, so I am not sure that one counts. But the other, grabbing Ghee’s arm, moving it to where Ghee couldn’t grasp him, then tugging on it enough to unbalance Ghee, was masterful.
Yeah, but you see guys get pushed out or slowed enough by the kicker to get caught all of the time. Huff was having none of it.
Both. Lots of good blocking. Good reads by Huff. Good speed and two great stiff arms at the end.
Yes, I loved seeing the stiff arms. Been on the other side of that too many times. Without those he doesn’t score.
Huff receives the ball about 7 yards deep.
It’s a right return. So Huff starts bending right at about the 10 yard line.
A lane’s created at about the 20 just inside the numbers — but Huff had to make a cut to hit just right.
Then he was just about off to the races.
Still, once he broke through he out ran one defender and broke tackle of Brandon Gee — the Titans safety on the kick — at about the 20 or so.
_____________
That’s how I remember it.
I’m sure I’ve missed a bit on the description.
But think back to his pre-season KO return for a TD.
Very similar, but on the other side.
Nice detail.
Thank you for such a detailed response.
The 2014 Eagles season will be defined by how we handle this next 3 game strench.. I’m glad that our older QB with back problems isnt traveling to play a night game against rival Giamts in cold weather that could tighten his back up…hopefully for the Giants “last stand” the game lives up to the physics nature of NFC east rivalry games. Doubt count on Giamts winning but I wouldn’t mind seeing Romo get banged around tonight, have to travel home late tonight, sore,…keep in mind that old man romo doesn’t even practice on Tuesdays and Wednesday’s normally to manage his back, while we enjoy chips world class recovery at home right now, romo has to rush his entire week. He has no time to recover, he is forced to practice, and play on the day that is usually his first practice day of the week..gotta take advantage and put the Heat on Romo Thirsday.. Taking 3 recovery days away from an older player trying to manage a back injury and play thru it is not insignificant,,.
,,,
Big big game Thursday. gotta win this one on the road. Put our top ranked run defense to the test against the highly regarded OL and Demarco Murray.
…
Whispers of Nick FOles coming back to save the day in the second dallas game. Exercise the daemons of his ugly concussion game last year at home against Dallas…surprisingly he will be back to lead us to victory that day and the Linc will go wild on our way tp a win, then Nick has two more games to knock the rust off before he leads us to playoff glory!!
I think Dallas II is Game 15. No?
EDIT:
WRONG!!!
Move along. Nothing to see here.
Game 14. finish up against NYG and WAS on the road. Can’t remember the order of those last two though.
EDIT: finish up @Was then @NYG.
I realized that after firing off the comment.
Should’ve know better.
It will be our 14th game but played in week 15 of the schedule. Perhaps that was what you saw.
In other news, Robert Griffin III still looks terrible.
BBs:
Are we at the point with Griffin that you’re describing the status quo. And therefore no longer worth noting?
When’s he played a good game? I honestly can’t remember . . . besides prior to that 2012 playoff game.
I truly think his mediocrity rests solely at the feet of Dan Snyder. He’s the boss, and the foremost duty of the boss is to develop the skills of their workers so they can create a better product. Short of that, the boss needs to foster an environment which allows their employees to excel.
Snyder hasn’t done anything close to that.
Sure, you can’t blame other people for a QB’s poor play BUT Griffin has enormous talent. Something’s wrong with the situation if he’s consistently looks so bad.
Eagles are getting a 7.5 hr. head start against Dallas.
99.5 hours vs 92 hours from gametime to gametime.
More than 8% of a rest advantage.
Dallas gets to make up for it with more prep time.
And no flight.
That’s what they’re telling themselves, at least.
Why more prep time?
No airplane flight.
So if nothing else, Dallas could do a walk-thru while the Birds in the air.
That’s been a complaint by teams in the past.
Same objection about Thursday night games.
Home team has a bit more time to prepare.
I’ve not checked the data on how home teams do on TNF.
__________
That said, Dallas is about .500 — SURPRISE!!! — on TGD games the past several years.
Once upon a time, Dallas really took advantage of its opponents in that game.
Maybe with every coach getting jammed on TNF games, the Dallas advantage has dissipated.
ASIDE: TGD games were never much of an advantage for Detroit.
They do have a flight as well after the Giant’s game tonight. Hopefully after an embarrassing loss 🙂
I dont want an embarrassing loss I want a hard fought physical game that is lost in the last minute of overtime
Dallas has to fly home from NY tonight.
Dallas won’t likely get back until 4 or 5 am.
YES. Great point. (And in character.)
Had forgotten they were on the road — at night.
___________
How much of a prep problem does that present for Dallas?
Somebody call in a bomb threat to their air port before they take off.
Somewhat. I’m sure their coaching staff has done most of their homework (this morning, in spare time the last few weeks) and probably has the rough outline of their gameplan for the eagles in place. They’ll probably release some rough version of it tonight on the flight back. I imagine players will be allowed to go home and report back to facility at 10 or 11. By then the coaches should pretty much know exactly what they want to do. The short week just means that they may not get to practice for every little wrinkle the Eagles can pull out. The biggest challenge for both teams is how to effectively run a practice while simultaneously allowing the players to heal up from playing and game and having to play another in 72 hours.
I love how our D is creating FF this year. They are really concentrating on stripping the ball instead of just getting them on big or lucky hits which is even more impressive.
Before the game the Eagles had a 12% chance for a wildcard game. I don’t think that likelihood didn’t improve today.
Let’s beat Dallas and win the division.
So you think it’s more likely now?
Are you good at Maths?
Very. Good enough to recognize an unintentional double negative. 🙂
Blame it on Siri. 😉
Yeah, Siri is one sneaky chick.
Actually it did improve a little. IF GB wins the divisions, Lions are a major wildcard competitor and they lost. Seattle beating arizona wasn’t good, niner losing to skins would be great. GB squeeked past the vIkings
AZ might take another 3-4 losses this year. They have to go on the road to play StL, SF, and Seattle.
Edit: They did just lose in Seattle.
Seems like you’re misrepresenting the stats on that one. That stat implies that we don’t win the division, not that there’s only a 12% chance that we make the playoffs at all.
I didn’t misinterpret anything.
In other news . . .
Josh Gordon picks right up where he left off in 2013.
And Aldon Smith, in game 2 of his season, continues dominating.
Proving that training camp is way over-rated — perhaps — for other-wordly players?
Well those are some of the best players at their position hardly surprising
I mention training camp only because Gordon’s had very little practice to get his timing down with Hoyer. But they produced big time.
When Sanchez took over, “no practice time” was used to explain a number of missed timing routes.
Just a curiosity item.
Interesting point that deserves a mention.
Well Sanchez isn’t one of the best at his position so some more time may help with him
Sanchez and Hoyer are comparable.
That would mean the difference is Gordon?
And therefore the Eagles have no one in Gordon’s class.
You’d get no argument from me.
Other may disagree.
Just playing devils advocate
A welcomed exercise.
Thanks!
Unrelated but I’m trying to create the best 140mil roster possible not counting rookie contact s what do you guys think is the best bargains at OL
WTF is going on in San Fran? How is it that the lolskins are keeping that one close?
U. Com. Plain. Ing?!
Not at all. Just a bit stunned that the dumpster fire of our division, the same team that got rocked by Tampa friggin’ Bay, is hanging with SF on the road.
Nfl. Do you know?!
Heard of it.
SF didn’t come ready to play, and when that happens in this league you lose games.
The Washington team lost to the Eagles by a FG — and, with better FG kicking, might have won that game.
Gruden’s not a bad coach.
And the defense has some very good players.
Snyder’s just a horrible owner.
I’m rooting for the skins ruin their draft pick while setting back San fran
OFS wrote:

Excellent.
OFS? Interesting.
So, is it Oreo fe star? I thought it was Ore of Estar. Or is it Oreo festar?
Packers squeeked past the vIkings. Denver might lose its second game in a row
I love how this team under Chip Kelly consistently wins the games they are supposed to win. I would have been happier with a more complete win, especially if Sanchez had shown he could avoid bad turnovers, but under Andy Reid, poorly played games like this are losses.
Clean it up and we can challenge the best teams in the league and have a legitimate chance at finally winning our first Super Bowl.
EDIT** games like this WERE losses.
Someone mentioned this in another thread, and this week is a great example. Reid goes out to Oakland and loses a winnable game.
Let’s have Chippah win 10 playoff games first before we compare him with Andy.
Hopefully he gets 3 this year. 🙂
3 or 4/ do not care.
I really liked Andy. He did a superb job of building a team. Unfortunately, he was never able to improve his weaknesses. His poor clock management and unwillingness to run the ball never changed in his decade plus in Philly. Watch KC and you see the same issues. I wish him the best, but I doubt he’ll ever win it all.
Under Andy Reid . . .
That was not always the case.
Especially his first 6 years — when the Eagles played in all those (gut-wrenchingly disappointing) NFC title games.
In Reids last 4-5 years, the Eagles weren’t that good.
And they lost games like this one.
Anyone else looking forward to the game tonight? Dallas is coming off of a bye week, so I expect them to look sharp against a bad Giants team. Though, I’m hopeful that they look crappy as we head into Dallas on Thursday.
I hope the Cowgirls fall flat on their faces. I hope JPP actually shows up and that Dallas’ OL continues their inconsistent ways. I hate both teams, but the Giants are already out of contention. Here’s hoping they shock the Cowgirls 😉
My feeling too. Even though I hate the Giants more, I’m tired of all this Cowboys talk.
I hope it’s a brutally physical game that goes into over time.
The 49ers are injury ravaged on defense — although Aldon Smith’s back.
So maybe San Fran misses the playoffs.
Regardless, my take-away on this season for the 49ers is:
1. Kaepernick’s exactly what each of Foles and Wilson is . . . a young QB finding his way.
2. Harbaugh is G-O-N-E.
That’s a shame. 2 NFC Championship games and a Superbowl appearance, and they’d be ready to move on from him.
Seems like his public persona is also his locker-room persona.
Lombardi was tough. For sure.
But he dialed it down plenty of times.
I just don’t get the sense that Harbaugh EVER dials it down. Ever.
Do you think he’s lost his locker room or a lot of the players?
The rumor mill says so.
We will know for sure when JAY GLAZER says he has
I don’t think he has lost either. I do think his act is wearing thin for management though. He also reminds me a little of Ray Rhodes in his flogging of his players. It does wear them out.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
A lot of change could be coming to that franchise. Young LBs Boreland, and Lynch looking good, see a youth movement coming and all kinds of veterans getting waived like Ahmad Brooks, either Navarro or Willis, if not both…Vernon Davis is getting waived, they will let Iupati walk… That team is probably going to have to take a step back, before they can start moving forward again….. Seahawks will look different too…. Those two Juggernauts are out of the way…
Pre-season, you were on SF as one of the teams that would be taking a step back this year. Injuries hurt for sure. But you talked about other problems, too.
So far, you’ve been right.
T-Law . . .
This is the best danged Eagles site in the whole danged blogosphere.
THANKS FOR KEEPING THIS PLACE SO INTERESTING.

Thursday can’t get here soon enough for many, many reasons.
1. Dallas Sucks
2. T-Day food is the best.
3. Bears v. Lions for the appetizer.
4. Dallas Sucks.
5. SF v. Seattle for dessert.
6. Day off from work.
7. Dallas Sucks.
8. Eagles v. Cowboys for the main course.
9. 3 more days off after that!
10. Dallas sucks.
The Decafecta.
Compliments!
Speaking of Thanksgiving poultry, looks like Miami’s goose is cooked.
I haven’t seen the game . . .
But based on the numbers, how the heck did Miami put up so many points, get ahead, and keep it close?
Tannenhill has been playing better lately.
I don’t get it either. I thought maybe big returns or turnovers or penalties, but none of them looked particularly impactful.
Tannehill scrambled quite a bit. The early scores for Miami off of two big pass plays, which skewed the scores quite a bit. . Otherwise, Denver’s offense had a really rough first half.
Those Rams keep showing up. Thought the clock struck 12 on Cinderella but the showed up against the Chargers who barely squeeked last them
..
Big bad Greenbay continues to be suspect on the road squeeking past the VIkings by 3. lions got handled by the Patriots which helps out the wildcard hopeful from the NFCeast…but we are winning the division so that doesn’t concern us
Romo is a 36yrnold QB trying to manage a bad back throughut this season. In order to manage that back, he usually doesn’t practice on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Thursday is usually his first day of practice to manager his back to play on Sunday….. How is this schedule going to effect him? Play a physical cold weather rivalry game tonight in New York, travel home late, cut down on his recovery time drastically, practice much earlier in the week to be ready to play on Thursday? For a player managing an injury trying to play thru it, taking 3 preperation days away is not a minor detail.
…
This schedule sucks for us, but it must be horrible for Romo…. Hopefully the Giants bang him around tonight
Amen, GEAGLE. Not a big fan of Thursday games, but at least the Cowgirls should have a tough time with the turnaround even if they drill the Giants. Hope Romo gets beat up this game.
You make a good point, love your insight. Lets hope for a nice physical game tonight. Playing on the east coast on a sunday night and then in Dallas on thursday has to be a nightmare for a guy with a bad back.
Thanks mate. Cheers… Dream scenario Giants win and put a beating on Romo
Dolphins lined up Dion Jordan on offense, Phylbin is such a shmuck, who is he kidding
He caught it for a TD. Too bad a Time Out was called. 🙂
See how Miami scored their 2-point conversion?Hopefully Kelly was watching and took notes.
Wow, never seen a kicker attempt a rabona onside kick like Miami just did.. didn’t work but points for innovation.

8-3 with mostly andy reids players still on offense, his starting qb playing opposite of a chip Kelly qb and his defense humming along like his vaunted Oregon defenses..Kellys is doing one hell of a job in only year two.
whos watching DAL-NYG
here
cool was hoping for a game thread…
I’m surprised we didn’t get a thread for it… It’s a division game!
not a big fan of the BGN threads.
So painful to watch ODB make plays for the Giants.
why? we had no chance to get him
and we got a pretty good WR ourselves
Yeah, it’s not like we passed over him. Matthews has been terrific.
Oh, Mathews. Sure, he looks good too.
Was just one of my favorite players in the draft to watch. Phenomenal WR, and fun to watch him work from a technical level. So disappointing from a fan’s perspective.
I like JMatt, but ODB is on another level.
So yeah…that’s why.
Maybe. but tonight I hope he goes off for 200+ yards and 5 TDs
I don’t that would contradict the hard fought 6-3 overtime win for the Giants I was going for
Nah. I want the Giants to build a huge lead, force the Cowboys to throw and expose Romo to some TLC from the Giants D-line.
That’s 1.
That’s 2.
and when did scandrick become good… he was mediocre for so many years
nice drive by the giants here.
So far so good!
This is where Eli throws his interception, though.
almost….
he tried.
beautifully designed/executed screeen earlier
lol the one guy they have to cover…
sit down in that zone baby
picked up eli off waivers to play tonight. do me proud.
read the comment you just posted and the words “picked” and “off” and “eli” popped out
lol. i think thats reasonable word association
im praying the Giants take down Dallas.
Don’t stop now.
boy the giants bit hard on that play action, and now dallas is driving
I enjoy rooting against Eli. I don’t enjoy rooting for him. You get the feeling that every good play or series is just a set-up for the upcoming goofy interception, including Super Bowl wins. How this guy can play all those years in the league and.. Sort of like Mark Sanchez I suppose but with less of a cap hit.
come on int that
excellent, FG time
Now we’ve finally beaten the Titans since they moved from Houston. We now have beaten every team in the NFL once again. #thankgod
Dan Bailey got rocked
Wow
WHAT A CATCH
He caught the back half of that ball, and it was coming in hot.
ODB is sick
holy smokes
Good lord.
HOLY SHIZZLE!
Holy shit. I take it back. Matthews couldn’t do that.
OH MY GOD
OMG ODELL BECKHAM IS THE SECOND COMING!!!!!!!!!!
THAT IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS
WE JUST WITNESSED THE GREATEST CATCH IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL
usually id say cool it with the hyperbole, but that was a really good catch. def up for best catch of the season.
That play is under review just so the officials can watch it a few times.
That was insanity
we’re going to have to play that guy for years to come…
On the other hand, so will Dallas.
ODB is Allen Iverson.
I’m having a hard time breathing.
the nbcee it angle you can see the ball was past his hand when he caught it
So how do you stop Beckham?
Hit Eli
you can’t stop him, you can only hope to contain him
I heard the way to stop ODB is to give him a lot of money and access to coke.
no way that would work, he’s a pepsi man
As an aside, they are working ODB at corner too. Reports are he got burnt once, but that was only gonorrhea.
He literally caught that with 3 fingers
Great catch, but from the first angle I thought he pushed off on the defender, not the other way around. Still an awesome catch.
Carr had a fist full of jersey AND an arm bar.
I didn’t see the jersey grab, but Beckham used the arm bar to get his own separation. Like the old wrestling axiom–him holding me is just as good as me holding him.
The flag was thrown with the hold on the jersey, all the other contact happened b/c Carr slowed him down enough to maul him.
I hope they just keep showing replays of that catch all game. Have never seen anything like that in my life.
I bet you see it enough that you are tired of it by next week.
Impossible.
I’m still not convinced it actually happened.
Giants: *choke*
glad dallas is pulling all the trick plays for this game
there are already debates about who had the better catch; david tyree or ODB
let’s put it this way that tyree SB catch had a lot of luck involved in it. ODB’s catch was pure skill and silky smooth
Yeah not even close.
Yup, Tyree was pure luck. Beckham is just effin’ awesome.
I hate watching ODB excel for the giants and hearing Giants fans continually talk about ineed more Pugh’s less Beckham’s
http://i.imgur.com/rIlKH2J.gif
Stop it hurts
Just remembered I have ODB on my FF team. On the bench.
I’m starting him in two leagues
Ouch. I’m sure your other guys had two TDs and a couple hundred yards before the half, too.
He’s already outscored the 3 starters combined.
I’ve had my worse season ever this year. My top two RBs were Peterson and Martin. One got in trouble for a switch, the other switched to a slug.
guess who
That is an interesting tidbit: the Cowboys like to sub on defense a lot. That might be an issue for them on Thursday.
the new york football odell beckhams
The NY FOBs?
You said the Eagles came of the game healthy? Acho was hurt and did not return. So we may have lost more depth at inside LB. We may have to sign an inside LB this week. Jake Knott available? 🙁
I don’t think that’s correct. I think Jake Is available.
The position of doom this year for the Eagles. Meco, Goode, Long, Acho, and Kendricks at one point. That position is cursed I say!!!
when it gets cold, the boys look old
So, oreofestar, I was intrigued by ACViking’s abbreviation on your name. Can you explain?
OFS? Uuuh idk
Is it Oreo festar? Ore of Estar?
Neither lol its oreofe star
Mind blown
Oreo Fest AR (Andy Reid), obviously.
More of that please Mr. Giant, sir.
Beckham would have caught that, Dez.
Outside, I can hear the sound of an implosion from the north east. Sack, dumb timeout, false start, sack, punt.
Wow, what a display of ineptitude crammed into these final two minutes of the half. Too much for any one team alone.
Justs woke up. What’s with all this ODB talk other than dallas is doing what dallas inevitably does? Has Romo been getting hit?
http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s–Vsz1zacc–/c_fit,fl_progressive,q_80,w_636/onoqunbrvxyzhqwrddok.gif
http://losthatsportsblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/jason-avant-catch.gif
That was a great catch as well.
I thought they were very similar catches, which is why I brought it back up. Watching the cowgirls fail miserably is icing on the cake tho.
Couple of sacks. Nothing serious yet.
Beat him down JPP
CarDinals got a drew Stanton reality check today
…
Hopefully Eli can come fhru for us and the Giants Defense batter Romo and give him an epic 2nd half Beatdown. If Giants win this game I’m buying an ODB jersey tomorrow lol. Be so great to have a game on dallas so when we go two games up Thursday their world can start to crumble because of us and national everyone start talking. out December implosions LOL!!! Let’s go Eli!!!
ouch
OK, time to pound the crap out of Tony Romo
Have to say, that back injury doesn’t look like its bothering Romo much. Appears to have most of his mobility back.
Tomorrow he probably feels it
Eagles become first team in NFL history to win 10 in a row at home after losing 10 in a row
Parley set franchise record for most 50plus yard FG in a season
We’re a 2 to a game team? Is that ok. Can we play around it. Can we use mediocre qb play as a way to get qbs on the cheap and spend money on the secondary, ol etc.?
Blount is a beast, tired up the lions d. Gotta wonder why chip doesn’t go back there.
Someone beat me to jonAs gray on the waiver claims. Blount signed, I picked him up right away…Jonas wakes up late and get sent home from practice. Lol
Thanks for rubbing it in.
I was so upset about not getting Jonas. Cuz I ready have Ridley. When Blount signed wugh them my eyes lit up and it was later in the week so he didn’t have to go on waivers. First come first serve. Literly jumped on him like 15 min after the signing broke lol
yeah i sat him a today, that was dumb.
We need the Giants to score more points and JPP to hit romo hard
https://twitter.com/EricStangel/status/536722637888974848
#ThingsOdellCouldCatch
Epic shit. Just ask DeSean.
Damn it…somehow I blame DRC
https://twitter.com/GeoffMosherCSN/status/536724027759685632
B dot Grizzle. Have to extend him and renegotiate Cole… Them having more than we thought in the tank is a good thing, allows us to focus resources in DB talent
Who’s #28 for the giants? Really poor effort.
Jayron Hosley, CB
Uh oh. Giants coming apart.
Encroachment by Cockroaches
If the Giants were smart they would jump on jim harbaugh. He might even think he can get a few more years out of Eli
Yes!!!!!
ODB with the catch and a personal foul on Dallas
WTF
Paying 50 mil for Carr is absurd
Not quite on that one
ODB is human.
barely
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFf
fucking eli
Bad Eli
leave it to eli to fuck it up, he was wide open
Set it up like a volleyball shot
#ManningFace
ODB would have caught htat.
Painful. How can anyone be an Eli fan?
F Romo
F Murray
F Dez
F Dallas
Having to root for Eli tonight blows. Don’t know how Giants fans tolerated him So long. He belongs in Trent differ club of super bowl willing QBs
Because he was at the helm when they won 2 superbowls with their defense.
So Ravens didn’t pretend Dilfer was anything special. Nice having that last name
You’re right. Unfortunately for us, he was the one at the helm.
And now Dallas took the lead. F’ers
Giants: *choke*
14 point swing with that int, bullshit
GO SHELI
i might have had too much to drink, bc he/she is looking pretty hot…
you had way too much to drink
great now i have to stay up and see if the giants can pull it out
ODB ODB ODB
goddamit i wish he was in green
ultimately players like evans, barr, and odb were pipe dreams for the eagles, they were too good to fall in the draft
yeah, but seeing that catch he made in the first half makes me wonder how many records he could have broken w/chip
man if odb were on the eagles, holy shit, our WR corps (assuming we still drafted matthews)
odb
maction
matthews
cooper
You had me until cooper.
hey coop as your #4 is really fucking good
Your logic is good, but I don’t want to agree with you. I’m still a bit mad at him this year.
coop as 3/4 WR, excellent
coop as a #2, not so much
just wait for matthews next year to move up and put coop back in the slot where he belongs
I’d rather see Huff there. Coop gets way too much money for not enough production.
idk huff still seems a long way off, but you def saw his potential on that KOR
I like how violent he is as an offensive player. I’m willing for this season only to chalk it up as rookie mistakes. Next year I need to see a more polished player.
odb action matthews djax would be insane. even now i’d replace coop w/ huff.
I’m pretty sure the league will set up a new rule to prevent just like they did with the Sixer’s lol
jarvis landry doing his thing too. tds every week plus return yards.
A couple of weeks ago it was Donnell. Let’s not get too carried away.
can odb play qb because eli can’t
eli fucking missed wiiiddddeee oopppppeeeennnn odb, what a fucking piece of shit
How did the Giants win 2 super bowls with Eli again?
Defense wins championships, so says the sage…
defensive line play, running game, and brett favre
Justin Tuck and JPP and because Brady+Welker decided to choke
https://twitter.com/RVacchianoNYDN/status/536729589314519040
yep, even collinsworth saw that
get it together refs
All that talk of whether Coughlin will/should retire…meh. They should be discussing whether to go in a different direction at QB.
They have Nassib
I hope they keep Manning for a long time
wtf is with that guy dragging his ID on ODB’s face?
Beckham is up and walking off the field without help.
Wtf come back and win this damn game please
I hate some of these commercials. Bud Light is not a good beer, and it doesn’t mean you’re up for anything. It means you’re up to save money…
Someone had to say it…
Come on Eli, dont Eli/Romo this.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3La52QCIAE0QwL.jpg
kudos to the DN on that title
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3LbByZCYAAToCN.jpg
and that ced, fletcher, and bennie bring the stuffing (the run)
odb keeping it og, is back in the game
It’s really weird rooting for the Giants.
But its perfectly normal to root against the Cowboys. Focus on that.
yes!
nah, there have been so many occasions over the years where i’ve had to pull for the skins/giants/even dallas a while back to win to help out the eagles. look at it this way, you aren’t rooting for the giants, you’re against the cowboys
I’ve been doing it for weeks is hard
and you’ll make up rooting for a NY team on fri when the flyboys play the blueshirts in that thxgvg classic thing
I’m calling it: Eli throws another interception.
fuck you fuck you not listening not listening
Well aren’t you just a bundle of joy tonight. Think positive thoughts, like Stuart Smalley on SNL.
gonna be a lot of time left for romo
to throw an INT…
Brilliant. Chew up the clock.
Whew…TD
yes sir!
Woo!
That was an impressive drive by the Giants.
the drive before that was impressive until eli threw a crippling int that changed the whole complexion of the game
The best part is remembering we shut the Giants out.
Need one more stop….then I can take a bath and wash off this Big Blue stench.
pro tip; that shit never comes off
the best you can do is shit your pants and hope that masks the smell
oh somebody get a screen shot jerry jone’s face up on here, that shit was funny!
Why isn’t ODB covering Dez?
DRC just got physical with Dez. Now I’ve seen everythin.
Oh wait. Just realized. We are in one of my favorite non-Eagles football situations….
Tony Romo in the 4th Quarter. The gift that keeps on giving. Go Tony!!
so excited for thursday! if they lose tonight and thursday it’s over in the division.
Giants realllly want to give this one away.
Losers gonna lose.
Yep.
F.
Wow. That Giants pass rush is awful.
don’t worry guys, it just gives eli a chance to pull one out of his ass, per usual
Lol giants.
that pass rush is not even trying
They’re gassed
ODB for the win?
ODB for the win!
only decent skill player on that team.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3LhRmJCMAAvFX5.jpg
i guess it is dallas week!
Did Dez just do the diamond dallas page hand gesture?
that was dangerously close to not going out of bounds.
OBJ is an amazing talent, and that scares me long term, but he is also going to bee very fragile.
eli u piece of shit
That’s game.
Bad teams find a way to lose.
Rodgers-Cromartie keeps hurting the Eagles
come on t-day!
I hope we destroy Dallas. It’s amazing how every time Dallas wins, Jerry has to hug everyone because he knows it’s a Damn miracle they won.
I’m going to make an admission about Tday. I’m a little worried about a short week and traveling to Dallas. Maybe because I know how important this game is, but the cards are stacked a bit against us.
Yeah, it’ll be a tough one. If Bradley Fletcher is playing, it’s going to take a miracle to win it.
LOL – or Cary Williams. I’m hoping our front 7 carries the day.
said Barwin. “As a group defensively we’ve really grown so much, the back end. I think that’s why everybody up front is getting sacks.”
He’s being nice to his teammates. They’ve had their good moments, but our secondary is our achilles heel. Williams avoids contact like leprosy. Fletcher doesn’t have the speed to stay 1-on-1. Boykin is hurt and Nate Allen is really a backup. It is what it is, and it’s okay to realize your weak point. Our secondary is our weak point.
omg man, a miracle? I assume some sarcasm there?
I cannot WAIT til Thursday. We’re gonna crush Dallas. I cannot fuckin wait.
lol
While McCoy had a better game I thought the O-Line was rather average in terms of run blocking (from my first watching of the game). They really weren’t able to get much consistency going in the run game. It seemed like there were a lot of plays that were just totally bottled up.
It was good to seem them get something working in the run game, but I just wouldn’t (personally) take it as too much of a sign that they’ve fixed the issues.
yeah bell hit them for 200 yds last week.
I think the oline needs to gain that consistency. That’s imperative in the run game. These guys have been together for only 2 weeks after everyone is back from injury. I think we’ll see improvement every week, but it seems like it’s a slow process. I think by time we play Seattle in a couple Sundays, we’ll look a lot more dominant. We just need to figure out this week to make it there.
Jurrall Casey is a monster tho. Might be the 2nd best 3-4 DE in the game after Watt
