Busy Tuesday
Posted: September 8th, 2015 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 411 Comments »The Eagles don’t play a game game until next Monday, but that doesn’t mean things are quiet on the Eagles front. Nothing huge happened, but lots of little things.
First up…OG Andrew Gardner was given a 3-year contract extension. Chip Kelly still doesn’t seem to want to publicly commit to Gardner as the starting RG, but he’s willing to commit to Gardner financially. Odd. Maybe now that the season is upon us, Kelly will finally refer to Gardner as the starter at RG. I don’t really get why he’s been so reluctant to do that the past couple of weeks. It has been clear for a while that Gardner won the job.
What about money?
Andrew Gardner's contract extension is $500K to sign, $1.4M per "new year" average ($ he gets on new years on deal), upside based on PT.
— Jimmy Kempski (@JimmyKempski) September 9, 2015
That makes sense. Gardner isn’t a guy you commit a lot of money to. And I don’t think you can look at him as a 3-year answer at RG. In a fantasy world, you find someone better for RG and Gardner is your top OT/OG off the bench.
Gardner had a solid showing as a starter last year. He’s played better this summer, as he’s gotten a chance to embrace the role of being the RG. Kudos to Gardner for taking advantage of the opening at RG. Matt Tobin is the guy the team wanted there (he’s younger). Gardner outplayed him and won the job cleanly. Beyond that. Gardner has played well. Even PFF gave him a good grade for his work this summer.

Sadly, the Chris Pantale era is over. Apparently he never signed with the Eagles.
They did add TE Andrew Gleichert to the practice squad. He spent the spring and summer with the Eagles. Has some potential as a blocker.

The Eagles tried out QBs Josh Johnson and Thad Lewis. We can’t make too much of this. Could be simple information-gathering since both players are on the street. Could also mean the team has a very tenuous commitment to Stephen Morris.
Johnson played well against the Eagles in the preseaon finale. He is a very good athlete who makes plays with his legs. He has some throwing ability, but is not a polished passer. Johnson has five career starts, having played in the league since 2009.
Lewis has been in the league since 2011 and has six career starts. He played for Pat Shurmur in Cleveland back in 2012. Lewis went to Duke, where he was groomed by QB guru David Cutcliffe. Lewis isn’t special in any way, but is fundamentally sound.
Morris is a better developmental prospect than either of these QBs, but they do have starting experience if the Eagles ever get to a position where they need that.

Weird news out of Pittsburgh.
Brandon Boykin has been passed as #Steelers slot CB. Cortez Allen to play slot, Antwon Blake & William Gay outside: http://t.co/eAqT2fINrL
— Nick Mensio (@NickMensio) September 9, 2015
Boykin is a good slot corner so this is highly surprising. Maybe the Steelers are just using Allen inside due to his size…this is a matchup thing. Or maybe Boykin just didn’t play well enough for them.
I want Boykin to do well in Pittsburgh. First, he’s a good guy. I want him to succeed. Second, it benefits the Eagles. And I’m selfish for wanting the higher pick.
This isn’t exactly validation for Chip Kelly. Boykin would be the slot corner if he were here and that position would not be such a mystery. Still, Kelly caught a lot of flak for the perception that he didn’t give Boykin any chance to win an outside job. Boykin obviously didn’t light it up for the Steelers and is taking a step back rather than actually pushing for a starting job.
This is just the start of a long season so Boykin has plenty of time left to win back the job and show he deserves to keep it.
_
Boykin News… WOW! Steelers gave Cortez Allen a gang of money last yr, only to bench him for terrible play by mid season, which really makes this move even more crazy. With the new DC out there dealing with the pressure to live up to Dick Lebeau, he may be panicking ahead of his debut on national tv against angry Tom. He needs to chill out and stick Boyking on Edleman.
I had heard Boykin was up for the Outside job. Maybe they told him they wanted him in the slot, when he thought he was finally getting his chance Outside, and he reacted badly and got demoted even further… IDK, but it sucks for the kid
IMHO – I think Boykin is highly overrated. He consistently got beat in the pre-season on the outside by guys who were eventually cut. I think most of his interceptions were QBs throwing it up for grabs under pressure to whoever the short guys was covering.
Appearantly William Gay won the slot job over Boykin, which is inconceivable to me. No way this is a whole season thing.
Depth charts right now are basically useless, except for establishing who gets into the games first.
The first 4 games of each season are all about last year. Starting week 5, teams begin to adapt to what’s actually happening, and how it differs than the old off-season plans…
totally new scheme, probably backup until he learns playbook, and scheme becomes natural (hopefully).
I’m going to disagree here(and with all posts) about “totally new scheme, playbook etc etc etc.
…..
Boykin has been there long enough to know what’s expected of him. I’ll give him credit for being not being a slow learner. If a coach knows what kind of potential he has(in what is pretty much a veteran), sitting him on the bench at this point doesn’t help. He’s not going to get better in practices and he doesn’t have preseason games to ‘get better’. CK made him expandable for a reason. Steelers coaches are dropping him on the depth chart.
…..
There are reasons why coaches from separate teams are seemingly having the same opinion of Boykin.
…..
Is the Eagles compensation dependent on the percentage of play by Boykin? Just something to think about. Although, I doubt it’s that…
Boykin has to play more than 60% of the snaps for the pick to become a 4th. That’s not it though. Coaches want to win and win now. If Boykin was the best corner on the team, he’d be starting.
Agreed 100%.
Related to Morris not looking to buy a house just yet, the Giants have already cut both of their waiver claims, Nix and someone.
Guess those knee issues are no lie. Think given time it takes to get used to practice and character reasons it’s hard for us to just cycle through guys.
Giants keep bringing guys in and cutting them a day later… They did it with safetie stevie brown too
Eagles didn’t just get rid of Barkley + Tebow as the backups, they got rid of GJ Kinne as their practice squad guy and might just need to replace him ASAP for however they run their practices.
“I doubt Chip wants to change that” — CK is always evolving. CK isn’t A, B, C my way. It’s A, evaluate A, B, evaluate B etc. If Kinne etc aren’t here, it’s because CK deemed them not needed…
Chip said in his last presser he wanted three QBs tops. I assume he wants to keep the coaches focused on fewer guys.
Oh that’s interesting. I’m used to seeing the warmups where it seems like they get everyone with any arm strength on the field to try to toss a football to someone but it makes sense that they wouldn’t want to confuse things with a practice squad guy thinking they are competing with a 3rd string QB on the roster
If that’s all they need, they can just hire an intern to do it
Wow. Didn’t see that coming out of Pittsburgh. I really thought with their cover scheme he would win one of the outside spots, especially with their lack of CB talent. At worst I figured he would without a doubt win the slot job. Really surprising.
Like Tommy said, it’s very early in the process. He could be in the slot or even outside after week 1. That being said you can’t help but wonder if as a fan base we had him over rated.
I’m pretty sure he will win the job at some point and start for them for the rest of the year. Matter of time to me.
New guy, new scheme, and it is natural that the new coach will first give a chance to the guys who were there before
I like him too, with patience he will thrive.
Yup… I wouldn’t make a big deal about him not starting for them, Steelers corners are trash, Boykin will be starting soon.. After what Brady will do to the steelers candy bar secondary, Boykin will be starting in no time
Probably right after he can’t get to the 60% of snaps portion of the trade 😉 Might even help his case to not have tape of him getting burned by Brady. Maybe he just doesn’t know their schemes well enough yet.
Off topic***
Any of our cuts make active rosters elsewhere?
No. Though that olb has a workout in Tennessee
Rasheed Bailey had a work out for Jacksonville as well.
So…do the sealers want to undo the trade? Everyone wins?
Lots of talk about the two players targeting the referee in that Texas high school football game but perhaps the real tragedy is how the QB didn’t keep the ball on the read. Looks like he would’ve had a lot of room on the right side of the field. I’m looking forward to the Chip Wagon breakdown of this failed inside zone read and D3FB’s thoughts on the O-Line performance…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNCrs63JeuM
To me, this was just the next logical progression following the Suggs hit on Bradford. It is not the safeties job to determine if that official has the ball or not.
Are we sure Boykin was agreeable to the slot? Is it possible that part of the trade was Boykin saying he wanted to play outside, and therefore didn’t practice the slot?
Boykin has 3 years of NFL experience and a couple of years college experience there, he shouldnt need it
I read ATG as questioning Tommy’s assertion that Boykin would have addressed the mystery at slot for the Eagles right now, not whether Boykin knows how to play slot. But it is ATG, so I might have missed a joke/sarcasm.
No, no jokes this time.
I actually assumed that your interpretation was true, and that it prompted the trade. I was wondering if that extended to his new team.
Is it possible that Boykin made clear to the coaches in Pittsburgh that he wanted to compete for an outside job and was not interested in the nickel spot? As a result, he overplayed his hand (kind of like Mathis) and now is in the doghouse with his new team?
The experience factor is certainly in his favor, but as a coach, would you give the job to a guy from another team that came to you because he was unhappy with the nickel job, used #justanickel, and wanted to go to a new team rather than accept that role?
Boykin’s highest value seemed to be on special teams, but he shouldn’t be missed there. Third string QB is usually for emergencies to keep us in games when the first two are out – not a developmental project, but is Chip’s approach different?
For most teams the 3rd QB is a development guy because if you are down two, no crappy third string veteran will help you anyway
Boykin will be starting shortly for the steelers. That steelers secondary is trash? Won’t take Boykin long to win the outside corner job, especially after what Brady is going to do to Cortez and the other Pittsburg Pigeon Corners.. And even if he only settles into their nickel role, steelers Nickel played 60% snaps last year
..
Wouldn’t over react to Boykin starting off as the #4. Won’t take him long to climb gnat depth chart. The steelers secondary is trash
Steelers nickle CB last year played less snaps than Boykin last year
Also if the CBs are so trash, why havnt he beaten em out yet?
Lol as if boykin will remain the #4 all year… Get real
here did I say that? I just said that if he was as good as people pretend, he wouldnt be the 4th guy
Lol ok… A 4th -5th round pick for an expiring contract says the valued him like a GOOD player…
We got a 3rd from our 4th last draft. That’s at least something.
Yeah that’s the most we have gotten from a mid round pick in 3 years… Hopefully next year we,find a gem in rounds 4 or 5
Kind of mystified that Gay has managed to stay in the NFL this long and maintain a starting job.
I think you are missing one thing: Boykin isn’t very good. He had one decent year and then got overhyped by Birds fans looking for anything positive about their secondary. Unfortunately for Boykin, he bought into that hype.
The Steelers are also switching to more cover-2 looks, so Boykin could be struggling with that after playing mostly man. I think Boykin is talented enough that he’ll be able to take a starting job or at least move up to #3.
I’m not sure I’ve seen so much hub-bub(technical term) about a 3rd string QB. Egads. If we’re watching a 3rd qb play, we’ll be guessing which top 5 pick we’ll be getting in next years draft. Hopefully with the start of the season this week we can move on from what garbage 3rd string qb is/isn’t here…
If we’re watching a 3rd qb play…
Ugh, I keep hearing this bunk repeated ad infinitum here.
We saw our 3rd QB play in 2013. It happens. If Barkley had played one extra game, we wouldn’t have made the playoffs. A 3rd string veteran might have given us a chance in the one game Barkley did play.
Plus, the Cardinal’s 3rd stringer played last year, didn’t he? A more competent QB and maybe they make the playoffs themselves.
If you don’t like talking about a 3rd QB, just skip the article. But don’t talk like it couldn’t possibly make a difference during the season.
Huh? Eaglesyanksfan is right. All 3rd QBs suck and will torpedo your season, unless you get TomBradyintheSixthRound lucky. While you’re at it, don’t let your kickers all get hurt and have your linebacker kick extra points, either. But if your QB has a good leg, you can let him punt.
This is the Eagles so there’s always qb hub-bub.
Aren’t there any new model Detmers coming out?
Joe Banner: “Boykin does not even win job as 3rd corner for steelers. Increasing evidence that Chip Kelly’s is a really good talent evaluator. Watch out NFL”
can we get him back for a 7th? haha
Works for me, I was against the trade,,l would have rather kept him as insurance and loose hm in free agency next year, and I felt that way before JaCorey got hurt and Watkins was cut
Personally, I am more interested in Banners assessment of Chip the talent evaluator than Boykins status. Banner has no reason to give undue praise, and considering how he left the Eagles/lost out on the Kelly lottery, I take his words to be an honest opinion from someone who ran the scouting department of a Super Bowl bound team… In other words, it reinforces my confidence in Chip the GM.
I don’t know if we can consider Banner to be an impartial observer. I’m pretty sure he hates Howie Roseman for taking his job in Philly. And he hates him even more for winning the Chip Kelly sweepstakes which pretty much ended Banner’s tenure in Cleveland. His praise of the Eagles post-Roseman may be genuine, or it may just be a way of taking shots at Howie.
I am a far too trusting individual… I never thought of that.
Don’t know if anyone has been watching Hard Knocks, but I’ve been pretty emotionally invested in watching some of those guys from the Texans get signed by other teams. Really happy for Kortnei Brown and Charles James got signed else where.
Interesting hearing coach Obrien and the GM talking about the disadvantages of 5’9 corners (Charles James)… Made me think about chip and Boykin
..
Seeing Wilfork kick Field goals against Carly Lloyd was awesome… Decade later and it still eats at me that we passed on Wilfork for shawn Andrews..
..
Still can’t stop laughing over Wilfork showing up dressed like a cowboy, with overalls and no shirt underneath, cowboy boots and hat,,, wish he would have worn that cowboy outfit to kick FGs against Carly Lloyd
..
Really hapoy for the Kourtny kid, getting cut 6 times is ROUGH!!!
Shawn Andrews was a great pick. He was immensely talented, and no one knew he would have mental problems.
Wrong!!! Going into the draft Andrews hard the “he doesn’t love to play football” tag… Surprise surprise his career lasted like 6 seasons and Wilfork was still helping Pats win superbowls last year….
..
Andrews succumbed to his pre draft warning label…. What did he play, 6 seasons? Terrible pick!… His talemt was a great pick, but his lack of longevity was bad, especially when people had those same exact concerns about him going into the draft?..
..
I
Have you guys considered the possibility that the Boykin move is temporary, to have someone else cover Gronk?
That secondary sucks! Every move is temporary because none of them are good enough to hold on to their starting spot all year.,.boykin time will come, the question then becomes can his play bring stability to the position or will he struggle and force the DB game of musical chairs to continue,…
..
And if we get a 5th instead of a 4th, we’ll live…
teams scheme like that on a weekly basis per match up. You don’t announce demotion/promotions for it…
I was comparing Johnson and Lewis around a week or so ago and Johnson has the deep arm, while Lewis’ arm is limited but he excels at the crossing patterns and the wheel routes. They can both run the read option draws. Johnson is 29 and Lewis is younger.. both you’d think are entering their prime. I decided I preferred Johnson.
It would not be a totally unreasonable theory to think that that Steelers would not rush Boykin into their system precisely because it would push them below the 60% playing time number.
People below saying that the Steelers only played 60% snaps in nickle last year. Seems to me that the trade is basically saying that if he’s an outside corner, he’s worth a 4th. If he’s a slot guy, he’s only worth a 5th.
This is an interesting point. Let’s hope he gets some time on the outside when they play against smaller receivers, but splits time at the nickel on obvious passing downs.
Hey there, I haven’t posted in a year maybe but I want to thank everyone, specifically Tommy for keeping this blog and giving us something to read. Also want to thank the community because the insight and opinion everyone has makes you learn something or question yourself in football stuff every now and then (and also on miscellaneous things such as ‘is a hot dog a sandwich’)
Aside from that, I’m I’m Europe for the moment and have never expected I would have to watch an NFL game through a link on my phone. So anyone knows any Web page that will do for tomorrow’s game and obviously the Eagles on MNF?
Thanks!
There are lots of streaming sites. They’re not really legal and linking to them here might cause some evil bots to mess with Tommy’s site, but if you just google say, First Row Sports, you’ll get a bunch of .eu sites that stream just about every major sport in the world.
Thanks will look after that tomorrow and MNF. Hope I get back to Mexico soon.
After seeing some preseason highlights of Bradford what’s the over/under of superbowls in the next five years? 2?
I think we all here expect to take at least 4 out of 5.
If you believe some of the hype elsewhere, it’ll be 2. This year. Minimum.
Or at least 6…to be honest I’m sure Chip will find a way to get the extra one
Definitely install a good anti-virus before you do this, and then run a Malwarebytes scan afterwards. Hopefully that gets rid of most of the spyware, at least the stuff not installed by the US government.
Can’t overstate this. You might have to delve into some seriously sketchy websites to find what you’re looking for.
You could get something that allows you to stream it via NFL.com, but not sure the cost.
NFL gamepass, pretty expensive, but very good quality and can be watched on phone and tablet as well
6 bucks a game
Hey welcome to Europe dude. Where are you at? You know, there are a few Eagles fans here in Scandinavia of you ever stop by.
Thanks, I’m in England because a relative had a severe accident and I’ve been here for a month already. Things are pointing in the right direction fortunately. If I come back to Europe or to any Scandinavian country will gladly have a beer.
Thats great, let me know! And best of luck with your relative, I hope everything turns out alright.
A not so crazy idea: they could sign Lewis or Johnson next Thursday, when their salary won’t be guar. for the whole season, cut Morris (probably no one will claim him, most of the roster moves are done then) and sign him to the PS.
Eagles wouldn’t be the first team to do business like that with veterans (the longer you’re in the league, the higher the vet minimum is, afaik). And I know I’ve seen that on Hard Knocks a few times, with the GM telling the veteran player exactly why they cut him and try to sign him after week 1, if he’s available then.
Entirely possible.
We can almost be guaranteed that there will some sort of roster shuffle next week.
PS is full isn’t it?
That would be like the least problem, I think.
Eagles just signed Dennis kelly to a 1 year extension. $760k base $30k workout bonus
Yeah, that’s no money whatsoever. I think they had to have gone to him and said you’re only going to make the team if you sign a 1-yr extension, otherwise you’re looking for a job on the street.
Boykin and his brother need to get on twitter and win that starting job!
Man, the CBS PFT power rankings just reminded me of why I avoid that drivel.
I think Prisco listed the Cowboys in 4th place and the Eagles at 11th…im pretty sure that’s not how things will work out.
Exactly, and the explanation praises the Cowboys for letting their work horse RB leave as “proof” anyone can gain yards (clearly he doesn’t understand what the word proof means). And criticize the Birds as too many holes on offense? Seriously made no sense. I’m not sure if I am more upset about him insulting my intelegence or me wasting my time looking
Prisco or PFT. That sounds just PFT. Don’t read prisco. I generally don’t read any national media. Somehow they never seem to have a good grasp of things. They are always on flavor on the month team bandwagons.
So many people are predicting a huge year for Baltimore. I just don’t see it.. Steve Smith has already announced his retirement in 2016, their top two draft picks haven’t played all summer , and continue to not play. They got rid of Nagta who has been a force when healthy all through his career. Tory Smith walked., Denniis Pitta is made of glass, Forsette is sure to regress to the mean at least some. Suggs is still out of shape. Their secondary is already hurt. Kamar Aiken with a whopping 267 yards in a 3 year career is their number two wide out.
I’m just a schmuck but I feel like Cleveland has as good a shot at that division as any of the teams in it.
PFT, though they all seem to be written by the same people. And they all seem to just grab whatever the latest headlines say.
Phil Simms NFC ranking
1) Packers
2) Cowboys… What a joke!
3) Seattle
4) Eagles

Boomer
1) Seattle

That’s one of the great things about football, you can prognosticate for months on end, but eventually the games are played and you see where things really stand.
One of the lame things about football, or at least football journalism, is that people who are comically, hilariously wrong rarely own up to it.
Good point. Prisco is very stubborn and more often than not a price to people on Twitter. Although I appreciate his analysis, I hate that when he is wrong he just says that other people are wrong as well.
The first month is always a complete crapshoot including the lines in Vegas which really don’t settle until mid-Oct (week 5 or 6).
If you are going to make money for the year gambling, you have to have a good/very good Sept or you have little chance.
I always look at Vegas lines being more geared to what they think they can get people to bet since their goal is to make money, not predict games… I never put much stock in them.
That’s certainly true and exactly what they do but it also tries to mirror what the general public is thinking.
Just take the odds on the Eagles which notably jumped & improved after this preseason game especially the 3rd preseason game.
Nevermind there is actually a slight negative correlation between scoring in the preseason and regular season scoring & that there is almost no positive correlation between preseason records and the regular season.
Mike Florio confirms. 8-8, it’s over gentlemen.
experts are prediction Julio Jones to have a monster game on Monday night because the Eagles secondary was brutal last year and “nothing was done” to fix it…(according to fantasy experts on nfl network).
Well researched!
don’t worry no matter what we might have done Julio can have a monster game against anyone any time.
That is awesome. Certainly it could be argued that it is untested, since none of the changes are proven commodities, but saying that 3/4 new personnel and a new coach is nothing is just wrong.
Jesus christ, its like they’re not even trying. Heres a couple of logical arguments to be made for Julio to have a monster game.
Julio is a monster, Maxwell will not be as good without the Legion of Boom, Jenkins is overrated by Eagles fans, Thurmond and Carroll haven’t proven themselves to be the answers leaving out secondary with 2/4 players OK, it takes time to get a good secondary together, it takes time for players to know each other. All are good arguments that you can’t really make a big fuss about. Julio Jones could very well have a monster game against us.
Heres and argument you cannot make: The team that signed the no.1 FA cornerback who just happened to be a great scheme fit and signed a injury prone but formerly very skilled CB, then drafted a CB in the 2nd round, all while finding a new DBs coach and moving on from 3/4 players in the secondary. That team has done nothing to improve their secondary.
One could also mention that we were in the mix for McCourty at safety, but well just short.
LOGIC MOTHERFUCKERS! Start applying it and good things will happen. Stupid fucking analyst, its not that they’re not even trying, its that they are actually trying to be stupid on purpose.
Ha! a couple weeks ago on NFL network one of their fantasy guys said he doesn’t expect much from the career of Nelson Agholor because USC receivers never pan out….brilliant analysis (and i could tell he was smart because he was wearing a bow tie)
Secondary is better, but I’m inclined to agree! I have visions of Julio Jones running all over the field with ball in hand and Eagles chasing him
yea…we replaced 4 of the top 5 guys in the secondary, signed the best FA available, drafted a guy in the high second round and replaced the DB coach….or, I guess, you could say, “did nothing”…thanks NFL network, you nailed it!
Dennis Kelly just extended.
He’s already 6’8, how much bigger can he get?
Lol… slick.
Wow, Shady’s still at it.
yep, Ryan lets Shady be a man and forego all those things that could make him better. Who needs that stuff? not real men.
Yeah, that’s taking it a bit too far.
he was “better”last year? Not ever situation is right for every person. Reggie Wayne hated playing for pats, doesn’t mean Wayne is bad, doesn’t mean pats are bad.
…but the Pats are bad, right? RIGHT?!
I don’t understand your point. I said that doing certain things like taking care of your body “could” make you better. How is not taking care of your body better for some people? Like Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle?
Shady bitching about a coach wanting him to sleep 8 hours to become great… Yet NO ONE has to ask JJ Watt to do whatever it takes to be great. Best defender in the league yet WATT makes sure he goes to bed at 8pm so he can get 10 hours of sleep because that’s what Olympic athletes do..
.,
No one has to ask Watt to wear a sleep monitor or make it mandatory that he gets his sleep.. This man does it on his own because he leaves no stone uncovered in his hunt for Greatness,,, This is the type of attitude you want from your best players, clearly shady will never GET IT!! I’d bet Shadys greatness ends a year or two sooner now that the bills will łet him be a man and let him do whatever he wants Lol Hee Haw, HEE Haw,l
..
Even worse, shady is running his mouth about how Demarco isn’t great LOl… he sounds like an obsessed, scorned, jilted ex-girlfriend.. NOTHING very MANLY about this scorned woman behavior he is exhibiting, when no one on the Eagles has cared to say a word aboutnShady this offseason… Pathetic, Cox and Kiko better light shady up when we play them in December, hold shady to 40 yards on 20 carries!!
Bradford is looking to get paid. Gentlemen, get ready to be amazed.
https://twitter.com/Edwerderespn/status/641627186470985728
Better hope his knees hold up then.
yeah no wonder they are signing people to these cheap deals jenky legs could be looking for that $20m/yr deal.
With the salary cap scheduled to rise for the next few years, we might end up remembering fondly when $20m/yr sounded like a possibility.
More like, get ready to get FRANCHISED or in this case, SAMchized!!!!
..
This is actually common sense for SAM.. I’d be more worried if he did trust his knee and took the money now for the security… Bradford betting on himself? EVEN BETTER. Makes it easier for us to bet on him…

Marcus Smith (Smitty) is in like flint with a nickname like that.
Wow, Vinny is now fully an OLB but still can play on DL because he has experience there. He will be only in OLB meetings from now on. So really they do not feel comfortable at all in where MSII is at.
surprised they didn’t make that move before. same weaknesses are same weaknesses
This feels strangely vindicating. I remember the winter when we learned about the 3-4, another commenter and I (Tumtum, maybe?) having a long discussion about how obvious it seemed to have Vinny slim down a bit and play OLB, and how dumbfounded we were when someone (Anders, perhaps?) shared that the team was making him bulk up for the DL. Eventually, I convinced myself that his coach from Marshall probably knew best.
Clearly I was mistaken. It is now apparent that I knew best all along. I will be making my career counseling services available (for a fee) to readers. I will talk to Tommy about putting a button up there next to his Donate button.
By the way, with the season quickly approaching, it wouldn’t be a bad time to consider clicking that button, too…
He did pretty damn good as a 3-4 DE. Ultimately, Vinny dominates wherever you put him. The next move is to get him some reps at OG and see if he can become the next Chuck Bednarik.
Shh, young businesses like mine are fragile. Save these unsupportive facts for once I reach roughly Amazon size.
I have some sad news to report. G.J. Kinne is now a member of the Giants’ practice squad.
That is strange. We used to have a GJ Kinne who was a quarterback and another who was a WR. They are dead to me now.
(Actually, he seemed like a great guy and not much of a threat to ruin our SB hopes. I wish him luck.)
yeah i’m sort of interested that we don’t take more people from other PS for intel purposes.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What about intel he could provide them? Was QB in our system for some time…
With Victor Charlie’s move to Romeo Oscar Lima Bravo . . .
my bleating’s been answered.
jason Garrett had a press Confrence where he had the audacity to talk about why having these 3 backs instead of murray is a good thing… Trying to sell dallas media on the merits of losing Demarco for these average backs…
Surprised the media łet him get away with that ridiculuos response without pointing out that they were allowed to have and use 3 RBs with Murraybeing one of those backs… How do you justify 3 average RBs instead of Murray, when your Rival is using Murray as part of a 3 back Attack? LOL what a clown
Word is they ate starting McFadden Sunday night
..
Any Chance ODB steps up Sunday night and gets the Cowboys off to a 0-1 start? Unfortunately the Giants run defense is probably worse then Dallas average RBs….. But Dallas secondary is Putrid, hopefully ODB can win the Giants a shoot out…
dallas has no corners
Their safeties are probably even worse… When you see the all22 of ODBS putting up 10 catches and 2TDs against Dallas in the game he made the crazy catch… Most of the secondary breakdowns was the over the top safety help playing too far back, and not being where they were supposed to be to help the cormers on ODB… Eagles fans can identify this problem easily since we have had plenty of practice with our inadequate safeties not being whete they were supposed to be to support the corners,.
..
Brandon “USED” Carr… MOrris the bust Claiborne,,. Not sure WHATS worse, them or the safeties
I can see the Giants pulling off the victory. They almost did it last year on Sunday night when Odell made that insane catch.
although Dallas seems to always choke at home on primetime (last year against Washington) I think they handle NYG pretty easily. Giants defense is really weak and so is their o-line. Matchup ill be checking out is if Gregory gets lined up to rush against Erik Flowers, Gregory destroyed him when the Huskers played Miami in college
Eli and ODB would have to carry Dallas to a shoot out win…
..
Problem is not only does Giamt OL suck, but their DL won’t easily shut down the dallas run game… And without JPP! It’s up to ayers and Moore to get pressure on Romo…. But ODB is great and Dallas secondary is putrid so who knows, maybe we get lucky and Giamts pull off a 34-31 win or something like that
Giants do pretty well in Jerry World usually
It would be awesome to be in position to give dallas an 0-2 start, they have to play the Pats week 4…
EXACTLY
I know everyone is hype for the Monday night opener, but This time NEXT WEEK we will be getting ready for the dirty stinking Cowboys!! What a treat from the schedule makers… Not having to wait long to kick some cowboy ass…
..
Hype to have both ERTZY and Maaarcus Daaarling back at practice. Don’t care if they play Sunday, being back in Practice is WHATS important
cardinal mistake to look past the first game.
sorry, an eagle mistake.
Doubt you have to worry about players and coaches overlooking the season opener.,.no matter who you play, everyone is all jacked up for the opener.. I’d worry about this type of dynamic during the year tho…
..
We get to play Cowboys next week… And the 2nd game against Dallas, we will be coming off a Bye, while the Cowboys have to play the seahawks the week before me we come to dallas fresh off the bye..
Let’s hope the Seattle game is a physical one. But getting up for a PHI/DAL game isn’t going to be an issue on either side.
Yes sir…. Especially when you know those silly Undiscaplined Cowgirls can’t help but run their mouth that week
I’m sure Logan will say something on twitter like he did last year. Or was it Thornton. Trash talking among the division is nothing new, and it doesn’t bother me.
It’s the out of division talk (re:Seattle) that bothers me. I want to beat them in the playoffs this year, as revenge for the trash talking they did last year.
Cox talked about how he was sick of hearing about their OL and he went on to back it up and Dominate the Thanksgiving game in what was an epic Thanksgiving day performance..
SICC EM’!!!
I will be in Dallas for the second game 🙂
Wow, that’s bigtime…one of these years Ill get around to making the trip to enemy territory so I can waive the eagke flag inside Jerry world. Love traveling to Eagle away games..
Uggh picked last in my league (10 people)
QB Sam Bradford
WR Keenan Allen
WR Jeremy Maclin
RB Matt Forte
RB Latavius Murray
TE Jimmy Graham
W/R Darren Sproles (late pick, but he’s got opp. in both offense & st)
K Phil Dawson
Def Arizona
Bench:
QB Ryan Tannenhill
WR Allen Robinson
RB Joique Bell
WR Marques Colston
RB Isaiah Crowell
TE Antonio Gates
i have a team that looks eerily like this. you might need to trade for some rbs but i think it’s a pretty good team.
thanks, a bit worried about the wr position, because i’m not sure how mac is going to do in kc.
i’m bettiing on joique bell getting back, and that will make my rotation there decent (I think).
i have MAC on a team (wth sammy b and tannehill and sproles) i think Mac will put up good numbers, i think andy will feed him the ball, he’s gotta earn that money.
Mac gets to finally play the Z-receiver spot in the West Coast offense (that’s the spot that gets the free release because he’s off the ball and gets to motion all the time), he played X here when DeSean was here playing the Z spot. That means he’s already a lock for 120 targets in an offense that doesn’t have many other receiving threats, particularly at WR.
All reports out of KC have Andy going bonkers trying to come up with ways to get Maclin involved in the game. They’re even putting him in the backfield at RB. They’re running reverses with him, they’re motioning him all over the place and making him the focal point of the offense.
Everything is pointing in the direction of him having another big year. The only possible downside is that Alex Smith sucks. But, I guarantee he won’t go another year without throwing a TD to a WR. You can bank on that.
Start Crowell in that flex spot over Sproles.
Really? This is my 2nd year doing this, so I’m still trying to figure out the nuances. I think Sproles can have a big game against Atlanta – like a 2 TD game (1 receiving, 1 punt return).
Cleveland is also playing the Jets, who are going to have a pretty decent defense. Is he a power back or a workhorse type guy?
I don’t know the Browns RB committee but if Crowell is their first back you should definitely start him over Sproles. Besides you should check how your league works in terms of scoring. For example, in mine punt and kickoff TD are not given to the specific player, just to the defense/St
In my league, players get points for both. I’m in a yahoo league with some work guys.
yeah I’m with you, I’m actually considering starting Sproles in my flex spot over Alfred Morris vs the Miami D
look real good in pre-season
Meh. Crow isn’t promised work. Sproles is a lock for 2 catches at least.
I would suggest getting a RB when/if one of your Wr or bench players has a good week 1 performance because otherwise I feel it will lack points. Which were your first four picks?
I picked 10th, so I picked Bradford and Forte first (10,11). I knew neither of them would be there later.
Then I took Graham @30
Then Murray @31
were you in a league of eagles fans? I’ve been in a couple drafts and sammy b is going basically undrafted.
No, but there was a run on QBs in the late teens and twentys. Because I pick so much later, I wanted to make sure I got him.
Another guy took the Eagles defense simply because they play the Skins twice a year (I’m in DC). That was in Round 10, when I was going to pull the trigger.
yeah i didn’t take eagles d b/c i was woried abot having too many players on one team, but think they’ll be studs too
Going in, the only ones I really wanted were Bradford, Sproles, and the D.
I still think they overdrafted QBs in your league but it all depends if they have different scoring rules.
That’s a pic of my leagues draft. I was the third pick (hope you can see the picture well when zooming in)
Jordan Matthews is the steal of that draft. Greg Olson TE 2, in the 5th round… interesting. Sammy Watkins 5th round too lol. Over all looks like a solid league with halfway knowledgeable GMs.
that’s the worst need one or two dummies at least.
It is a tough league to be honest. All of them are pretty knowledgeable since it’s been the same guys since 4 Years ago. Fortunately there’s always someone that makes bold moves in the first rounds.
I was getting Jordan Matthews but lost it to the guy who picked two spots before I did.
I work in DC… how about that.
What are you doing for the game? Monday, I’m making pulled pork if you want to hang out.
in a smoker? what time?
The plan is to take it out @6. I’m buying the meat on Sunday so I don’t know the cook time yet. If it’s larger than 4 lbs, I may work from home and start tailgating at 4. If I work from home, I’ll throw wood chips in the oven, if not, then the meat goes without the chips, and I’ll use liquid smoke.
nice work. I got a Weber vertical smoker that works pretty well but smoking pulled pork has taken me 12 hours, and it’s an all day affair. When I get impatient I finish it in the oven, but then last time it leaked all over and took me a week to clean and I got in “trouble”. So I’m taking a break until I have a really free day again.
I want to get a smoker, but at least in the oven it stays a steady 225 degrees without having to add wood.
I will get a smoker at some point, because I love BBQ.
trying to keep the temp around 225 can be a challenge. pain. But like if the wife/kid are away, at my age this is what is exciting for me. I think the Weber vertical is one of the cheaper smoker options. Check it out.
I’ve def got those in mind. I will. I finish school this Dec, so I don’t know that I’m going to go back anytime soon. This means lots of grilling / smoking after the month of December.
Monday I am DVRing the game and taking my lovely wife out to eat for our 1 year. Will she appreciate the sacrifice? Probably not 🙁
Congrats!!! I’ve been married 8 years, so my wife is conditioned that during football season I have to see the game (our anny is in Nov).
Lucky man! Maybe if she wasn’t a Ravens fan I would get a little more leeway. Honestly though, for this, I didn’t wen mention the game.
Bradford 11 holy lol
Well remember, I don’t pick again until 30. He’d be gone in my draft before that.
All my drafts were horrible his year so don’t feel bad. Forte last pick is good value even though I’m way down on him.
Decent Team, I hate having last pick…
just had my second and last draft of the offseason. this is for another money league, 12 team, IDP. bonus pts for 100+ rec/rushing. 300 yrds passing, and pts for kick/punt return yardage
QB – Ryan Tannehill, Matt Stafford
RB – CJ Anderson, Jeremy Hill, Alfred Morris, Darren Sproles
WR – Antonio Brown, Golden Tate, Julian Edelman, John Brown Markus Wheaton
TE – Martellus Bennett, Jordan Cameron
K – Matt Prater
DEF/ST – Eagles
DL – Khalil Mack
LB – Mychal Kendricks
DB – Jonathan Cyprien
you stomped that draft, nice job, though not sure how you got 3 top 15 picks on your team.
sorry, I just realized that I didn’t include that it’s a 4 player keeper league..lol. my keepers from the previous year were: Antonio Brown, Jeremy Hill, CJ Anderson and Alfred Morris.
so usually 48 of the top 50 players are off the board for our draft. Our first round is essentially the 5th round.
ahh makes way more sense.
yea I was thinking the same thing. Antonio Brown, CJ Anderson, Jeremy Hill in a 12 person league. How many people took kickers in the second round?
We don’t have defensive players in our league, and I’m glad. Just sucks that someone got the Eagles D/ST before I did.
Dhalsim Bradfords press conference is about to air on Sportscenter
..
Adam Shefter and Joe Banner both picking Eagles to win the Super Bowl…. Sal Pal compares Bradford to JOe Montana,.. Analysts and media members are getting crazier then eagle fans… We might have to build a few extra bandwagons to fit all the people that jump on board after we open the gates of hell onto the Falcons Monday…
yikes I don’t like the sound of that before game 1 is even played.
not at all.
joe Montana? Bradford has a better arm BTW. and we do have rice’s nephew, but seriously folks, lets beat the falcons, then go to the superbowl.
Yeah it’s getting friggin crazy… Boomer was all Eagled up, even friggin PHil Simms was talking us up, as the 4th strongest team in the NFC..
..
Us fans always get carried away, but this year the media is getting carried away more then us..
You know that Irvin is on the bandwagon too. He seems to have a decent pulse on all the teams as well.
everyone is jumping on board with the exception of Heath the irrelevant fullback
He’s such a clown. Took a shot at Eagles fans and said the Eagles won’t do well in December because of their fast pace during the year. And he uses last year as his proof. But what he forgets is the year before where they went 4-1 in Dec.
Yeah surprisingly he has actually been able to turn up his absurdity level this summer which I didn’t think was possible.. He sounded like a fool when Misanelli tried to debate him… As an analyst he is about as valuable as a fullback is to a chip kelly offense 😉
a couple well placed balls in GB and now we are the talk of the town.
Boomer Esiason? he usually never has anything nice to say about Chip
can’t wait until someone says “dr… t…”
Dont count Mike Florio among them.
I try to avoid seeing what that donkey has to say…
I put him and Boomer in the same category. Both major donkeys
He’s a biased moron, showed it in his Suggs reporting.
Probably because he gets no scope from chip ran eagles
so based off pre-season sam wants to wait to get more money?
he’s getting 13.1m this year i think
I mean for next contract, he doesn’t want to sign anything now they say
yeah no reason, his numbers could be gang busters, even mark sanchez put up good numbers in the offense.
No, that’s not it at all…. He wants More Money because of how well he plans on performing for fans like you and I… He isn’t asking for anything now..all he is saying is im going to light up scoreboards and lead this team to a big year, and we can go back and talk contracts after you watch me carve the NFC up…. Nothing to complain about … I hope he gets 20mil a year in his next contract because that means he had a MONSTER year and The Eagles were successful… Basically he is saying, put the contract talks on hold, sit back, and “WATCH ME throw Fireballs, like “Yoga FIRE!”
nice take
Time to sell your Eagles’ stock…
Think the bandwagon really takes off after a week 2 slaughter.
The No Vaseline Bowl..
Gotta tip our hats to chip Kelly, Hulls, all our trainers and sports science department…. The Season is here, we are getting ready to play Monday. And our entire roster is healthy with the exception of JaCorey, on the field practicing… When you look around the league, having a healthy roster is not some small feat to be taken for granted.
ERTZ and Ms2 are practice…Only big injuries we had this summer were JaCorey 6th round rook, Travis Long who has been here 3 years and has never played in an NFL game, and Earl Wolff who’s injury we been dealing with FOR YEARS….. Most teams and fanbases would give ANYTHNG to have to this type of roster health.
..
This doesn’t happen by accident. takes a lot of work to have. Healthy roster. A lot of Hydration tests, dealing with the absurd media when you listen to the data of your hydration tests and hold guys out to injury prevention precaution..Takes a lot of work to maintain this level of health.. We are lucky fans
I’m still pissed about that Jacorey injury…Sproles popped him unecessarily and Jacorey fell on his leg awkwardly
He can make up for it by having some big games this year.
Crappy way to lose a player to injury, but Sprolesy is known for two things, being a class act, and being one of the most hardworking men who is so competitive that it borders on insanity.. Very unfortunate but this isn’t a common occurence with Sproles.
yeah i don’t mean to necessarily “blame” sproles….if Sheppard doesn’t get hurt it’s meaningless obviously, just a veteran chin checkin a rookie, i thought Jacorey was the steal of the draft for us though. Guy can’t tackle, but he can cover very well
That was during an open practice at the Linc, too. I wonder how much of that was Sproles showboating for the crowd. If it was, I wonder if that’ll effect whether they continue to have those practices…
it happend right in front of me, looked like he was running out of bounds but decided to stay in at last second and give Sheppard a pop…problem was that Jacorey eased up and wasn’t expecting it….just the way he fell down on his leg
What was the event that ended Stewart Bradley’s career, essentially? Fight Night?
Flight Night.
I mean yeah, but at the same time it’s just a freak thing. In a billion alternate dimensions that doesn’t happen when sproles hits him. We just happen to be in the dimension where it did.
There’s also the dimension where it gave him the ability to read women’s minds and he went on to write a series of books aimed at educating men on sexual stereotypes. So we’re also lucky that didn’t happen.
Not sold on the sports science stuff yet… need lots more time and data
I think its pretty sound science that hydration and sleep are key factors to an athletes success.
yours and mine too really.
I think there’s more to it than that
Wait, are you implying I am not an athlete? You sound like my wife. And my former coaches. And my children.
I don’t think it’s anything crazy. Most teams do this kind of stuff, so do most world class athletes. Chip is just far far more meticulous about it than most I think. You know, maximizing the effects of things they already do. Like if you make a protein shake they are going to be more exact. Or with sleep it’s going to be more precise. It’s an evolution not a revolution.
Call it what you want,,, if it’s just a coincidence that we have been the healihiest team this past two years, and now we started practicing for the season with 63 of 63 players being full participants, hopefully we can have that coincidence again next year… I’m sure every team wish they had 63 players practicing today… According to players, we do more for their recovery, shady brags that other teams don’t have to wear sleep monitors, no other franchise gives players daily hydration tests… Heck, not all teams rehab players the same way. We seemed to have planned Bradfords rehab/recovery perfectly, he was scheduled to be back August 1st and he hasn’t had any setbacks.. It’s amazing that Demeco will be on the field Monday, much quicker then his first ACL surgery/recovery…
..
Call it sports science, call it normal NFL training staffs, but not all pro training staffs are created equal. For example in basketball, the Suns training staff is one of the gold standards…. The Trainers of this current Eagle regime have been doing a fantastic job according to our health compared to that of average NFL teams… Hopefully we remain at the top of the health curve, whether it’s luck, sports science or black magic
I hope you’re right, and I’m fully supportive of the effort – gotta get an edge where ever you can find it. I would submit, however, that most of us can only sight anecdotal evidence in support of the program. Until I see a real study complete with comprehensive stats, etc, I with hold my official seal of approval 🙂
Like I said though, I think it’s the right thing to do, and I hope it proves (conclusively) to be a difference maker.
In response to ACV’s earlier comment, I wonder if this means MS2 is not coming back from injury fast enough.
https://twitter.com/EaglesInsider/status/641640646596542464
I think he is just outplaying Smith II, and is the only real threat to rush the passer from that ROLB spot.
Can he cover though? Because then it seems like you know they are coming after the passer if he’s in.
Or I should ask, can he not be a liability in coverage?
Plenty of very good OLB in the 3-4 can’t cover. May not be the preference of Davis and Kelly, but can certainly work, esp situationally.
Okay, that works. He def needs to get a decent amount of snaps this year.
Marcus is back at practice if im not mistaken. This isn’t just about improving our OLB depth, part of it is also about finding ways to get such a talented player on the field more then past years… He can handle the OLB 3rd down responsibility easily, because they usually become 4-3DEs… He just has to grow into first and 2nd down OLB role….. But come 3rd down, I’m sure we will continue to move him around attacking numerous offensive lineman with his explosive pass rush
,,
Adding OLB to Vinnys resume makes it easier to pay him what it will take to keep him in philly..
I think it has more to do with the DL.
They’ve got 6 guys who are really solid and are all 2 gappers. They have all earned PT. They’ve got Mikhalik on the PS who they can call up if we get dinged up.
There is no longer a need to have Vinny moonlight as a 2gapper. He’s a pass rusher that you can line up anywhere across the front. He’ll get more work on his pass rushing at OLB than DL.
OLB doens’t have anywhere near that depth. MSII has probably earned reps, but not so much so that you feel supremely confident with him as the only backup. Braman is ST only, Jones can do it but doesn’t offer much more than a warm body.
I don’t know that they want Vinny out there dropping in coverage for a ton of snaps, but a combination of Vinny/MSII would be capable as a replacement if one one of the starters goes down. Vinny can still be used as a DL in sub packages.
But won’t they miss Vinny as the 5-tech pass rusher? Do you think they still line him up there occasionally?
“Vinny can still be used as a DL in sub packages.”
I was just thinking about what Kelly said in the PC per two posts up “Kelly said that Vinny Curry is at OLB full time now.”
When we go nickel we line up 4-2-5 and the OLB become hand down rushers. That group will likely be mainly Graham, Cox, Logan, Barwin, but Curry can play either one of the DE spots or Nascar DT.
He’s still a full time OLB but like I said they can kick him inside on rushing downs to get mismatches.
*rubs hands together*
I can’t wait to see this D on the field in the regular season
But why male models?
olb rush from everywhere, be interesting to see if he can be effective w anything other than speed. that said vinny jumps off the tape on his speed rush, he’s at the qb before the ol gets set.
You say Bramen is special teams only, and he is, but there were some questions during the preseason about him. When he is on the field against the scrubs, he is a monster. Do you see enough there to give him a shot against starters?
Maybe, but I don’t think it would be much more than a small handful in an emergency situation.
I think they want him fully rested for the 35-40 special teams snaps game.
He’s 28, 6’5 250lbs and physically gifted, so you have to take him trashing UDFA rookie camp bodies with a grain of salt. You’d imagine that if they felt the reps would translate somebody would have played him more in meaningful minutes before now.
I don’t think they will use him much if at all on actual defense this year because he probably is much more of just a warm body against NFL starters and you worry about it affecting his special teams.
Also thy just NEED to get Curry on the field more and who on the DL do you really want to take off the field to do that?
“It’s still kind of like reading Chinese right now. They’re already full into everything (game planning),” Barkley said. “It will take me a while to get the hang of it but it reminds me a lot of my college system and even what I did in high school. The last few years have been a little simplified in terms of protections and how the quarterback would handle things. I’m excited to get back into that mindset of a pro style backs and calling plays like that.”
ha thats cute barkley.
real cute.
Silly boy
yeah so chip is a college coach but arians offense reminds him of high school, classic
And if chip is a college offense, what’s this say about this noodle arm, 4th round scrub that he couldn’t master chips “college offense” in 3 years? Lol
..
Good Riddens.
can’t believe he was throwing shade after chip was nice enough to trade him instead of getting straight dropped. though how we get more for matty b than we did for Mathis or Djax…
Right… And we traded him to the Westcoast where he prefers to be.. Ungrateful prick, wasted Like two draft picks on that scab
Not to nit pick, but that border along the bottom of Arizona is Mexico, not the Pacific Ocean. It’s west…but not really Westcoast.
Can’t find the video from the movie “Outside Providence” that this reminds me of, but enjoy this other stellar scene from the movie in its place:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgMOrdfDUYU
LOL… There would be no bigger gift then Carson having to miss a game or two with a minor Injury and we got to Face Bruce Arians with Barkley starting at QB
..
That would be a true gift from the footbakl Gods.
“it [the Card’s offense] reminds me a lot of my college system and even what I did in high school.”
_________________
So is Barkley saying that Arians runs a college offense?
Or a high school offense?
Help me out here.
touche
no a high school offense actually
Yes, but a college offense taught in Chinese.
I don’t get that. Is he literally saying that Chip streamlined playcalling and made things easier for the QB and what the QB would do and that he’s looking forward to going back to complicated huddle play calls and audibles.
It’s like if a Farmer said “Man the last few decades have been a bit simplified, you know with all these crop harvesters and the like. I’m excited to get back into the mindset of old time farmers when they would plant crops and harvest them one at a time.”
I am glad to be away from that dishwasher, cleaning all the dishes better, faster and easier. I’m excited to get back to carrying water from the hand pump and trying to get the dishes just clean enough to prevent sickness.
“Chip simplified things so much for me, but I still looked like garbage trying to perform in it.”
Barnwell doesn’t have the Cowboys in today’s 8 teams on the upswing article, so he must have them in tomorrow’s 8 teams that will vie for the title article. What is he thinking?
Drinking the ol kool-aid
I don’t understand how you can think their ability to keep the D off the field is sustainable. Health alone, but then add that their RB left and was replaced with no one.
I think he’s buying defense much improved: Lee healthy, Hardy eventually, and Gregory and Lawrence = QB pressure. I guess we’ll see soon enough.
Gregory = 200+ rushing yards, against either JP or LJ. He and Lawrence should both get plowed in the run game.
Basically!! Vic Bealey won’t be any better. He should get trampled too
Not to take issue with a scenario that could make me ecstatic, Marinelli will have Lee and the other linebackers, whoever they are, swarming. I Don’t expect them to be easy targets for Kelce and Co. Not saying they’re unblockable, but it will be a challenge. I hope that Gregory is on the field for running plays, but I don’t expect to see too much of that. I am trying to maintain an even keel. Comes from years of gut-wrenching disappointments.
Even keel is good. Marinelli is an excellent coach, helped save the Cowboys butt last year. I look forward to the Eagles putting an early end to 2 straight Cinderella seasons for those boys.
Feel confident we will outperform them in the run game, significantly. They have a target this year, and not just against us. Don’t think they’re up to handling the pressure.
LOL – I love the fact that this offensive line is so good any RB can play back there. They are going to grind it out with RBBC – yet they can’t seem to be happy with any of their backs.
I can’t wait for Week 2.
Just because Barnwell uses a lot of fancy numbers doesn’t mean he isn’t subject to the same biases as the rest of us. The dude is a Giants fan, so his opinion on the Eagles is skewed negative.
That said, I like to read him to get an idea of what’s going on nationally, but that’s with the assumption that he’s going to occasionally be wrong in the same way as the rest of the national media.
What? I thought he was an Eagles fan.
he saving them for the team that employs the most parole officers
I like Joe Banner better as an analyst. He tells it like he sees it. I like that he thinks the Bears are going to be a mess. Doesn’t bode well for Forte on my Fantasy team (or maybe it does).
https://twitter.com/JoeBanner13/status/641654825680306180
sounds like eagles will have a target on their backs this year
I like that. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Let’s beat everyone’s A-game this season as we roll through the playoffs.
Is that an A minus? Lol! I kid, I kid!!
I will be satisfied if he goes 4 for 4.
I like how CK picks on Les in those conferences…”when you were confused”…lmao!
Does this mean Rowe is getting snaps on the outside? I don’t think he’s ready yet, unless they think Rice or Biggers is going to be there.
https://twitter.com/Jeff_McLane/status/641676713873801216
Hopefully its more of a matchup thing, by that I mean if they go B-Max shadowing Julio all game then when ATL goes into 3 or 4 WR sets maybe Nolan covers the slot and Rowe can “hopefully” handle Roddy White or whoever else is in front of him.
hopefully biggers is outside and roddy doesn’t play
Well if that’s the case then I would think they leave Nolan outside and let Bigs handle the slot. Obviously I am no coach and they clearly see something we don’t but I really don’t want to rush Rowe’s development or hamper his confidence by sticking him outside too early into his rookie season.
I don’t think we will see Maxwell shadowing in week 1, but who knows,
..
ideally the Falcons line up Julio in front of Nolan That way we can stick a safety over top and Bracket Coverage Julio, while Maxwell takes on Roddy man to man …
..
The Falcons OL is a mess, so they probably can’t go 4 wide against us which im sure teams will try to test our Nickel and Dime corners… But Atlanta won’t be able to test us much that way because their OL can’t block our front. they will need to keep Tight Ends and RBs in to block so that Matt Ryan doesn’t get killed… I expect to shut down those average at best RBs, make the one dimensional while our offense keeps scoring, pressuring them to throw 50 times, so I think our Defenses will do great against them, but when we get a big league and go to prevent, Julio will get a bunch of yards in garbage TIme
It likely means that Carrol kicks inside in nickel sets and Rowe comes on.
It would be in third and long situations and he’ll be have the advantage of knowing where the sticks are. Plus letting him play outside plays to his strengths. He can either get up in the WR face and play him in press knowing he had S help or if he’s in off he can sit at the sticks and force them to throw short and then make the tackle.
6 more days bitches. Just in Ibiza and soaring like an Eagle.
This makes me imagine you stoned out of your mind with a bunch of ravers trying to get them to sing “Fly Eagles Fly”.
Spanish can’t sing mate. 😉
Jealous. Probably listening to some deep house, garage, or dnb, while hanging out with a bunch of party kids on the beach.
I’m a bit jealous.
While I’m a Hip Hop guys some smooth vocal house doesn’t do any harm. It’s a great island, and I’m not talking about that boom boom Sant Antonio.
Can you watch the Pats lose on Thurs night?
Sweet, the Fiancee and I were in Playa del Carmen around this time last year..I remember damn near destroying the business center on the resort after checking the Eagles-Jags game score on NFL.com before halftime. And then drinking some coladas and swimming in the ocean with a smile on my face after the 3rd quarter.
The pretty blonde espn reporter (sorry can’t think of her name) says ERTZ is a full practice participant and said he expects to play monday but that it’s day to day.
,.
When teammates were asked what impresses them most about SAM, they seem to rave more about his quick and correct decision making more then praising his arm strength or accuracy…
..
Sams only really been practicing running this offense since the beginning of August, impressive to hear him being praised for his command of this offense already.. If he sees the field well, and knows where the guys Chip has running free are on each play, this offense becomes SCARY!!!!
..
Between Sams accuracy and decision making combined with a run game that will keep us out of 2nd and 12, consistentky putting us in 2nd and 6, pick up a first down or two and we starting Rolling down hill like a Giant Boulder that can’t be stopped!!!
..
So HYPE!!! Last Wednesday we were trying to mentally prepare for friggin Tim Tebow making the team. next Wednesday we will be pacing back n fourth in anticipation to get our hands on the Cowboys.. What an exciting time… Let the games Begiin!!
I’m hoping we get a full game of what he gave Washington in the 1st half a couple years ago.
This was the night my twins were born. Tomorrow will be 2 years exactly. And you all know the outcome.
is your wife pregnant?
You sound nervous. Anything you need to fess up to?
This offense has been putting up 25-30 points every single game since Chip got here. And, last year we saw that continue despite a faltering run game and QBs who couldn’t consistently hit wide open receivers.
I kept thinking last year, how many points could we consistently put up, if we had a QB that could hit wide open targets on a regular basis? I think this year we’re gonna find out and the rest of the league should be terrified.
Nothing from last year needed to change except for having a QB that could consistently throw the ball with mild accuracy to wide open targets that seemed to appear on every single play. Now we seemingly have that, along with a running game that just keeps churning out positive yards. This offense could be record setting.
Record setting might be underselling it.
Transformative. Revolutionary. Water shed.
I have little doubt that this offense will literally form new religions on a weekly basis…literally
I will worship Dhalsim Bradford as a Hindu God if he goes into Foxborough throwing fire balls all over the Pats defense, leading us to our first win EVER against Tom Brady… I want that win SOOOOO BAD!
..
I ask for 4 things outsiide of the divisions:
..
1) Beat Brady for the first time, in Foxborough where God knows all the cheating we have to overcome,,
..
2) Bennie Logans REVENGE against the Saints..
..
3) Knock Carson out early so Barkley has to line up against our front 7
..
4) hold shady under 45 yards on 25 carries, blowing out the Bills..
…
That’s my dream hit list for this season
..
And next year, we get to kick the Ravens ass
So last years prediction he had pat v hawks in SB this year he just says eagles win the SB. Sweet so we win in a blow out.
My favorite stat is its been a gazillion year since the same two teams made it to the NFCS championship two years in a row.. So according to history, either seattle or GB won’t make it back to the NFC championship game.. Remove one of them from the NFC equation, and Eagles look like they have a great chance, health permitting of course..
Yussss, odds are in our favor!
Yes, if both the Packers and the Seahawks aren’t in NFCCG the Eagles have a much better the zero chance they otherwise would have had.
So JPP finally joined the Giants, they told him that he isn’t ready to play, so he left and went back to South Florida….ok…..
..
I thought the Giants OL was a mess, defense might be even worse. Not only do the Giants have one of the biggest secondary Trainwrecks, they keep signing safeties and cutting them two days later lol.. When your secondary is bad, the worst thng you can do is not have a good pass rush, and without JPP, I don’t know how they are going to pressure QBs and that secondary is going to get Torched. I’d be surprised if they don’t give up 30 points in every game.
..
Victor Cruz hasn’t practiced in 3 weeks, and the Giants have to play 3 games in 12 days…so he may not be back TIL like week 4..
..
And all that dysfunction and we haven’t even talked about the OL mess yet.. I don’t know what that franchise is doing any more.
..
Redskins continue to be the Redskins, Rg3 “felt sabatoged and that he was lied to”… Nuff said…
its better when the division is all about the eagles, and the dumb Texas team, that should be in the NFC south anyway.
Thanks for the heads-up about JPP. What a mess for the Giants.
lol they put him on some weird, designated franchise list that I never heard of.
Basically JPP wanted to play Sunday with a cast on his arm, but the Giants aren’t going to put him on the field at leas then full strength for how much they have to pay him. JPPS thnks he can play now, Giants think he misses at least a month of game…
…
I’m sure seattle will try a last chance attempt to get Kam to join the team. Offering him to waive all the fines he accumulated from holding out and try to get him on the field, but he sounds pretty stubborn about missing games if pthey don’t address his contract, and i don’t know how seattle can make him happy, without setting a terrible precedent of giving new contracts to guys with 3 years on their deal left. This is the worst possible time for seattle to cave to Kams demands since their is a line of guys behind game Like Bennett wanting money, and expiring contracts like JR sweezy needing to be adressed… Recent report is Kam is now expected to miss week 1..
..
Jordy Nelsom out for the season, and DT Letroy Guion being suspended first two weeks
..
Cowboys starting season with Greg Hardy and Rolondo McClain missing the 1st month
..
panthers are so screwed up, they are saying a FBB/HB nicknamed “Fatboy” mIke Tolbert will get snaps at WR which is insane lol
..
While the Eagles start the first practice of the season with 63 of 63 players being full practice participants.. #Culture #Sportscience #Birdgang
Mike Tolbert is getting snaps at WR…bhahahaha
LOL isn’t he like 5’11 n Chunky? Their starting WRs are Ted Gin and Philly Brown..l actually feel bad for Cam..
..
He went to O’Hara…………there ain’t nothing Philly about that.
Speaking of selfish…here’s my dream scenario: Boykin ends up in the dog house in Pittsburgh, rarely sees the field and enters free agency with no serious suitors for his services. He signs back with the Eagles on a reasonable slot corner salary and continues to be the best nickel in the league. Eagles still get a 5th round pick. A boy can dream I suppose.
In all honesty though, I really do wish Boykin the best and hope he does well both on the field and financially off it.
How about after Boykin leads the Steelers defense to a Super Bowl thrashing at our hands, Boykin grovels at Chip’s feet to return. Chip helps him to his feet, reaches in his pocket, and pulls out a nickel which he flips to Boykin.
“Can’t offer you much more than that.” says Chip.
“I’ll take it,” responds Boykin, weeping openly, “just a nickel, but I’ll take it.”
As they turn away from each other, Chip rubs the top of Boykin’s head, “Good to have you back, lil’ guy.”
“Look who’s talkin’,” responds Boykin.
amazing
I picture them walking off the field, back lit in beautiful black and white as Chip whispers, “ya know, boyks, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” Boykin doesn’t reply he just tilts his head and leans it on Chip’s shoulder as everything fades to black.
And Chip tosses him a smoothie.

There’s been a severe lack of Marlon Favorite references this offseason. Fixed:

I like that Bradfords first game in years is against a simple defense he should be familiar with assuming the head coach brought the simplistic seattle defensive system to the Falcons.. Bradford got a twice a year front row view of the seattle Defense.. Hopefully he is a little more comfortable then he would be against a complicated Bellichek defense… Let him ease back in against Atlanta and Dallas defense missing McClain, Hardy and Scandrick before our offense has to step it up a level against a quality Jets defense that has corners capable of taking our outside WR’s out of the game without safety help..
..
Atlanta is an Inferior roster and for the most part Chjp has made sure we beat the teams we are supposed to beat. We got away from that against the skins at the end of the year, hopefully we handle our business against Atlanta.. An inferior roster like atlanta probably needs to force a couple turnovers and get big boost from their Special teams… Keep Devin Hester return game in check, and take care of the ball, and it should be very, difficult for atlanta to beat us, even if their fans DONT realize they are a 6 win team yet… That Falcon OL is in trouble against Cox and the front 7. They will have to keep TEs and Rbs in to block all game..
no turnovers, we just had a TON of bad luck last year, injuries, crazy fluky TOs, etc. Hopefully that was our murphy’s law year and this year we can get back to doing what we do.
can’t have OL getting hurt in the first game like last year when Foles took a beating,, the special teams and the defense had to bail out the offense a lot..just hoping to be firing on all cylinders in all 3 phases. When that happens, we will be tough to beat

Yall hyped yet? I sure as hell am, even more then I was before I watched this. Man I can listen to B-Dawk give inspirational speeches all day. That 1:42 mark, I really miss that.
“Dog-goneit”
I knew I should have waited until Monday to watch this!
Sorry AG I couldn’t help myself, as soon as I watched it I had to post it.
I thought the same thing.
Listening to Dawk gets me…GOAT. Wish he had a SB ring, he deserves one so bad. I hope he joins Eagles staff to get his due. 😀
that was awesome.
dawkins is the man.
At the end when he did the “weapon X Crawl” I went nuts! Dawn speeches greater then Ray Lewis
I would much rather listen to Dawk speeches over Ray Lewis and his constant jibber jabber horseshit speeches.
The Ravens’ old pre-game warmup was pretty dope tho in all honesty.
https://youtu.be/Wv9A36qK-Eg?t=12s
Not as good as this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgdW9IS_t-c
Hah I remember that game, so awesome. I half expected a Cowboy to run and tackle him but that was the infamous star incident:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-nxdzgQH8U
George Teague was one sick athlete in addition to being ready to defend his star. His play in the bowl game vs. the U was flat out one of the most amazing plays I’ve every seen.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx1AZSeCkkM
That was awesome.
My brother and I were going nuts.
I don’t watch much college football, but without seeing the clip I know the play. That was the first time I was watching a player in the draft.
how could you not like TO? Man put TO on a rex ryan team they might blow up the NFL.
I need this on the Eagles D
after all the details of patriots cheating this week, going to be run to watch the NFLN “do your job” Bill Bellicheat documentary tonight..
“Steal those gameplans well!”
When i heard that Do Your Job first person who came up in my head was Gus Bradley saying it.. Now its a Bellicheat saying??
I know, do your job, but if that fails, at least we have their play sheets and signals, so don’t sweat it guys…

Here’s a small look at the Maclin-Eagle negotiations as told from Mac’s agent
Curry full time OLB now
what? BGN says he is going to do both:
http://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2015/9/9/9297919/vinny-curry-outside-linebacker-defensive-end-eagles-falcons-chip-kelly
My understanding is hes gonna be listed as an OLB now. Still used in 4 man DL fronts but position will now be OLB.
From the article by Maclin’s agent:
As Reid, quarterbacks Alex Smith and Chase Daniel and receivers coach
David Culley were calling Maclin that day, “making him feel like he’s
the greatest thing on Earth,” Parres said, Maclin could “barely get
(Eagles coach and de facto general manager) Chip Kelly to answer the
phone.”
“He called Chip Kelly five times Saturday: ‘Chip, can you just show me anything?’ ” Parres recalled.
(At a news conference after Maclin left, Kelly said he had had a number of discussions with Maclin and said that “we couldn’t go as high as Kansas City.”).
That Sunday, while Maclin was on the golf course, the Eagles called and
countered by shifting money from year three of their offer to year two —
which contrary to Kelly and published reports made it close enough to
the same deal Maclin was offered with the Chiefs that Maclin was ready
to stay.
As they stood on the 16th tee, Maclin’s initial thought was just that.
Then Reid called again.
And 10 minutes later Maclin was Kansas City-bound.
“Itwasn’t the money; it was that 10 minutes,” Parres said. “Jeremy said, ‘(The Chiefs) just wanted me more, and I think that’s where I should be.’ ”
Interesting b/c he isn’t the first person that hasn’t been able to “get a hold of” CK in negotiations. I think if CK wants you you get extended early, if not better take a hint. I think it’s smart(ish) to save that $10m by going with young receivers, but it’d be nice if he just called a spade a spade. It’d be interesting to know if Mac was called by other players on the team.
Yeah man thinking of money tied into Maclin or having the guys we have on roster now. Matthews, Huff, Agalor. Along with Murray etc. Eagles are better now roster wise than last year. Financially in a good space too.
yeah probably a wealth transfer straight from Maclin to Bradford. Be nice to have one vet on the team, i guess that’s why they got miles austin.
I doubt Kelly should go as far as calling anything a spade at this point
Yay another slew of great questions that Chip will have to answer in his press conference!
it makes sense, KC needed him way more then we did. not that we don’t, he’s great, but they really needed him
I thought the criticism of Chip was he wasn’t going to treat players like grown men? Now the problem is that he doesn’t act like a middle school boy with a crush? I am sorry, but if the grown man to whom you are offering 50 million dollars needs a warm fuzzy phone call as conformation that you really want him, he has issues.
To me, this sounds like a good dinner story to make you appear like you weren’t after the money. Careers are short, the pain lasts forever, they work hard year round and have a rare talent. Get the money, but don’t play coy about it.
Coaches call players they want, that’s the way recruiting works.
Why do you have to recruit a player that has been on the team for years, who you publicly complimented through his rehab and through a career season, and who you have been showering with ever-increasing contract offers ever since you accepted the terms on his deal the year before? That is an unhealthy level of needy.
you mean the guy you got to play for $4m on a prove it deal, who you let reach FA in the first place after being a top 10wr? That guy you have to call if you want him.
I guess it is semantics, but they “got” him to play on the prove it deal at his choosing, And they “let” him reach FA while offering him millions of dollars for months on end.
I don’t think a phone call would have mattered. He wanted to play for Andy and he wanted to get paid. Now, he wants to tell the “sitting in the upper deck gives the authentic experience, it isn’t about the money, I wouldn’t want the luxury boxes” story, when it was about the money, and Andy.
Missouri is also home. Maclin did say immediately after leaving that it wasn’t only the money. I buy that. The idea that a missing phone conversation sealed the deal…I doubt it.
The article was definitely written through KC colored glasses, but it was as the article says: Reid needed Maclin in a way Chip did not. It is what it is.
I think he wanted to go no matter what
Agent hand feeds a writer a narrative.
Writer prints it.
Professional Journalism ladies and gentlmen.
When did folks start to think that self-tacklin Maclin would want to play for Chip?
Judith miller approves.

Good read. Time for some owners to start allowing coaching staffs to put rookie QBs into an apprenticeship system to learn how to play the right way because it seems way to many colleges are playing the game the wrong way.
If you get down to the Ray Farmer quote where he basically says it would be better to make QB a fungible position; you might throw up.
I have no desire to watch an NFL where every team has a rotate-a-QB system with some running loser as their QB.
I don’t think Colleges are playing the game the wrong way. Its just a different game. And I don’t think College coaches should change how they play/coach in order to do a NFL’s coaches job for him.
I don’t think the NFL QB will change too much, but QBs are getting more athletic.
When i see or hear a complaint about how QBs schemes are from college i get that Bruce Arians in my head for his dislike of the Eagles way of playing.. Old school coaches just dont like the new
I think there is a line without going full Arians. One of the guys quoted in the article talked about how Chip changed a ton of stuff to take his really fast approach, but modify it for an adult game.
Thats the good thing about Chip.. Hes not stuck in his way. He has his philosophy his concepts but hes not afraid to tweak it
I would have killed to have been in the series of meetings where he and Shurmur really got everything figured out.
I don’t think colleges should change if things are working for them, but the run around stuff is wrong for what I want to watch as a fan.
The NFL is going to have to stop being cheap and just start their own minor league to be quite honest.
And “athletic” as Wilson, Bridgewater, Luck. etc. I like.
Cam / Kaep, Tebow, Manziel………. I don’t.
I wouldn’t throw Cam in that second group. I think you undervalue him
I think he’s putrid. His career passing stats are the same as Andy Dalton, who people kill…………and with good reason.
And Cam’s rating has gone down each of his 4 years in the league. Couple that with the increased number of hits that have slowed him down as the years have gone on and you’re looking at a guy not long for the league.
Look at that offense. Without Cam they are picking #1. I know he needs work, but he doesn’t have a ton to work with. At least Dalton has A.j. Green, a good RB and a OL that’s not trying to murder him.
Those are correct conditions you describe in Carolina, but there isn’t any law against throwing the ball away rather than getting banged up over and over.
True! Only thing I got is that its better than throwing picks
His stats have been a solidly average QB his entire career. Not bad, but not awesome. If he has a great defense, it’s enough to win; if a not-so-great defense, then they have a losing record. His level of play hasn’t changed all that much. Not sure he’s ever going to be tons better, though he’s now being paid like they expect he will.
Problem is it’s super hard to be a pocket QB, part of that is the high school/pee wee and now college game where QB is more of an athlete than a distributor.
I think that’s related to the fact that there aren’t enough pro-style QBs for schools to field a pro-system, especially if you aren’t a powerhouse program.
If i was a qb recruit i’d want to go to a pro style offense so that i’m not just a bust / backup after i get drafted.
The difference between those two groups, to me , is between the ears. Cam and Kaepernick have sufficient talent to be successful at pro level, but their OC’s, schemes and their HEADS hold them back. If Mike Vick was quick on his reads and made correct decisions 50% more often, I bet you’d have a different take on the subject.
QB rushing
1. Wilson 118-849 7 atts/gm
2. Kaepernick 104-639 6 atts/gm
3. Newton 103-539 7 atts/gm
4. Luck 64-273 4 atts/gm
5. Dalton 60-169 3 atts/gm
6. Geno Smith 59-238 4 atts/gm
7. Bortles 56-419 4 atts/gm
8. Tannehill 56-311 3 atts/gm
9. Fitzpatrick 50-184 4 atts/gm
10. Alex Smith 49-254 3 atts/gm
11. Bridgewater 47-209 3 atts/gm
12. Rodgers 43-269 2 atts/gm
Part of me thinks that if the system is easy to learn and easy to implement, forces defenses to simplify what they do, and works maybe it isn’t wrong at all.
The other part of me thinks that if certain systems are shown to have players with big win totals and gaudy numbers passed over repeatedly in the draft, those programs are going to develop a recruiting problem.
The spread and Air Raid direvatives are “the wrong way” to play the game?
I’m sorry I’m going to have to disagree.
For one I’d rather watch both of those than a boring ass I-form WCO, or Marty Schotenheimer grind em into dust, throw a go route every 10 plays offense.
Additonally Tom Osborne called, Barry Switzer and the old ball coach both confrenced in and said offenses that don’t neccessarily translate to the pros aren’t anything new.
But if schools were still running a derivative of the veer as their base nobody would be bitching.
The move to the NFL being a passing league has only made the fact that there are a limited amount of QBs who can play the position at a high level more obvious, it’s not like in 1995 there was some great abundance of HOF QBs stuck as third stringers.
Hell even Nick Saban is running packaged plays.
Gah, got a pickle, who do I start as my flex this week? Amari Cooper or Allen Robinson.
ESPN standard scoring league.
Robinson. Cincy is going to lock some dudes down in Oakland. Who the flip is Carolina stopping Robinson with?
I know but I have bought into the Cooper hype and he is just sitting in the back of my head. Thanks for the help.
be different if it was ppr.
Josh Norman is actually a very impressive CB. If he doesn’t play I would go with A-Rob but if he does play I would go Cooper only because they Raiders are going to be down every game and Cooper is going to see a ton of targets.
Cooper only because of the volume of targets he is going to see and the fact that the raiders are going to be throwing a lot because they’ll always be down.
I agree. Play ppr next time though!
F$#* Tuesday! Make it Monday.
It’s Wednesday
This “do your job” documentary is fascinating.. Goes into detail the thought process and strategy behind all those plays thy started to confuse defenses with, screwing with who is eligible.. They stole the idea from the Titans who lined up 4 skill position players as a 4man OL…
..
Also talks about the history of that double pass Edelman threw for a TD
..
Hate the pats but this is interesting stuff
all the great match ups this week like Bills vs Colts and they are airing Crappy games! This sucks..
..
1pm CBS: Dolphins vs Skins, Donkey Kong Suh might kill Cousins.
fox is airing Panthers vs Jags, what a joke..
..
CBS 4:15 Ravens/Broncos solid game
..
giants vs Cowboys Sunday night
..
I can’t believe they are airing the worst teams in the league at 1pm
..
After all that crap desean talked about how great skins are.. Now he was asked if they will contend this year, and he was so down on the team he didn’t even know what to say lol.. Miami kicking their ass is fun, but how the Hell does fox air Panthers vs Jags? Yuck!! I used to like Panthers defense now their DL has issues.. I do like watching keachly and Tommy.. Curious to see Shaq Thompson in the mix… The Jags have nothing worth watching with Dante fowler injured.
I watched the Jags play the Eagles last year…. the first and only time I watch a Jags game
Cardinals TE Ifeanyi Momah has a torn meniscus and needs surgery.
It’s believed he suffered the injury in Arizona’s preseason finale, or in a practice after that. Momah is a tree at 6-foot-7, and shined in August with six preseason receptions for 92 yards. There are unconfirmed rumors the Cardinals will sign free agent Joseph Fauria to take Momah’s roster spot.
it’s too bad for that guy, lots of setbacks.
I was rooting for him, even as a Cardinal.
Not sure if serious or you used the word rooting because in the first comment he was called a tree
No, I missed that pun completely.
