yup, but looking at it looks more like a batted pass than a FF

  5. 5 GEAGLE said at 11:25 AM on September 16th, 2015:

He has a great matchup this week to really get himself going,
I assume Damarcus Lawrence will stay on the left side against Lane, while DT Mincy has to replace Hardy and Gregory at DE, I can see how JP can struggle early in the year pass blocking against tremendous speed off the edge, but a guy like Mincy who they would rather have at DT, doesn’t have close to enough speed and athleticism to go up against JP…. Great matchup for JP to put a rough game behind him, and get back to establishing his dominance in pass protection, and we know his run blocking will always be there with his size, strength, speed combo..
Demarcus Lawrence has some game, he is no slouch for a young DE, so I’d like to see Lane step up and win that matchup Nuetralizing His pass rush while continuing to dominate the run game like he did in the second half on Monday night… lawrence and DT Crawford are their only hope to generate pressure on Bradford without Blitzing and SAM sure gets it out quick like Brady, helping his OL by how fast he gets that ball out..
I’m Hoping Chip comes out early, with a great plan to help andrew Gardner neutralize,Crawford just long enough to put together two scoring drives long enough to gas Crawford and take the wind out of his sail.. By then Gardner should be comfortable and ready to hold up against a gassed Crawford who is going to have to play too many snaps on Sunday for the rest of the game,,
0-1, with the hated Rival coming to town, and the extra emotion of wanting to rally for Demarco this week, against an Offense that has been Nuetered by the losses of Murray and DEz, and a DL that Lacks depth due to injuries and suspensions which is probably the worst thing that you can have going into a matchup against a team trying to take your soul with our Tempo for 60 minutes, Great Opportunity To get this season on track by beating down our Rival,

  6. 6 GEAGLE said at 11:08 AM on September 16th, 2015:

    1) dallas suspensions and Injuries leave them coming into this matchup Severly lacking depth on their front 7, especially the DL, and against the Eagles, you will get slaughtered if you don’t have bodies to rotate in on the DL and help deal with our tiresome Tempo..and the Cowboys are seriously lacking Bodies to give the starting DL a break when they need it..
Former DE Mincy, was supposed to spend most of this season at DT, but they DONT have DEs, Hardy and Randy Gregory, which means Demarcus lawrence is going to have to play too many snaps, and Mincy will have to play DE opposite of him, and behind those two, they don’t have any other talent edge rushers on their bench,, if DE depth Wasnt bad enough, moving Mincy to DE also hurts the DT depth. Crawford is going to have to earn his money, playing way too many snaps on Sunday..
I know everyone saw how badly we gassed the Atlanta defense in the second half, and we accomplished that without being able to effectively use our tempo in the first half.. it’s crucial that we don’t make sunday harder then it needs to be, which means our Offense has to move the ball and get first downs in the first halfl Atlanta front 7 had more depth then Dallas will have sunday and we completely gassed them basically just using our tempo in the second half because we couldn’t move the ball in the first half,. Dallas will be sending playërs to the Hospitals For Exhaustion by the end of the 3rd quarter if we can start draining them with our tempo moving the ball in the first half..
If we can start the game on Fire, score early, have our defense get a 3 and out or 5 and out, putting the defense back on the field quickily, and then our offense gain a couple first downs and put together another scoring drive while going up 10-0 early and already asking the Defense to play like 10-14 snaps against our Tempo, it’s all downhill from their. If Dallas allows us to get first downs and use our tempo early, they won’t have the depth to ever revover. dallas defenders will be hooked up to IVs at half time, coming out in the 3rd quarter Drained, while its time for us to unleash a completely Fresh Ryan Mathews…. “Conditioning/Fatgue makes cowards of all of us”!..
And if that’s not to Alll bad enough, lacking front 7 depth, having to ask guys to play thru serious fatigue, you are putting your guys at higher risk to sustain more injuries, something Dallas can Ill afford..
Come out hot against this team, put together two scoring drives early while getting their offense off the field Quickily, and it’s all down hill from there.
    2) Dallas got very little from its WR sundays against crappy Giants defense. dallas Offese did most of its damage with Witten, Gavin Escobar and throwing to the RBs… And at full strength, the Eagles are a terrible matchup for teams that heavily rely on throwing to TEs and RBs,,.
Eagles TEs all offseasons have raved about Kiko’s ability in Coverage, and we are adding him to a Lb corp with Barwin who is one of the Better OLB in coverage against TEs (see the domination of Jimmy Graham).. And Kendricks has the speed to be one of the best defenders in terms of covering RBs coming out r the backfield to catch the ball…. On Defense, Kiko/Barwin are capable of taking Escobar/Witten out of the game, Kendricks has all the ability to matchup with Dunbar and Randle if dallas has to throw at them again because they can’t run the Ball… You take Dallas 2 TEs away from Romo, and Kendricks doesmt allow RB checkdowns to bail Romo out, LIFE should be MISERABLE for that Offense…and if Our a offense is moving the ball using Tempo, while Dallas can’t sustain a drive or two, they get behind the 8ball in terms of Fatigue due to our tempo and its all down hill from there.
getting out to a good start in this game, can make things miserable for a team coming on the road lacking depth on its front 7.. Against the Falcons we had to gas them in the 2nd half when we got it going.. I’d like to see a pissed off Eagle team gas this cowboy defense already before they even go into the half.. And when they have to come back out for the second half after tbeir DL all needs IVs at halftime and they see a completely Fresh 230lb Ryan Mathews battering ram come into the game, won’t take long to take that Front 7 into the deep end, and then DROWN THEM!!!!

  9. 9 Avery Greene said at 12:11 PM on September 16th, 2015:

The last time we played Dallas’s backup, it was a close game that we won to end the 2013 season. He passed all over our secondary.

  10. 10 GEAGLE said at 12:24 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Oh I get it,,, but I wouldn’t care if Montana lines up at QB, if we can’t slow down a team who’s weapons are Terrence Williams, COle Beasly, Jason Witten, Gavin Escobar, John Randle, McFadden and Dunbar with the horses we have on defense, then we don’t deserve to win anything this year. Kiko, Barwin and Kendricks is a bad matchup for a team relying on throwing it to their TEs and RBs,,

Lol @ Marshawn Lynchs mom tweeting about how Seattle has to fire OC Darrell Bevell for the stupid call sunday trying to make up for not running the ball in the Super Bowl… As if that Locker room Wasnt in enough trouble Right now…
they don’t have one of the Top generals of thier defense, the QB of the Legion of Boom, Kam Chancellor over money disputes
Earl Thomas is playing without being able to comletely lift his arms up over his head playing thru his injury
cary Williams and Dion Sims are clear down grades to Maxwell and Kam
Greed, Jealousy, envy contractually speaking is starting to infest that locker room.. seattle is in a tough position of having to take this stern stance against Kam, because they already have important players like micheal Bennett who are pissed off and making noise about wanting/deserving more money
Then their are guys who need to contribute in games, but who Seattle łet go into this season as lame ducks without new deals like Bruce Irvin who already knows it’s his last year in seattle and he will play for the Falcons next year, which means, that this man has one foot out the door already which means we will see a much more selfish player then a guy who was more willing to make any sacrafices for the defense in past years now that he knows you don’t value him past this season..
These issues go completely against the Unity and close knit team that made seattle so great in years past and all this is after playërs already lost some trust in the coaching staff with whispers of wanting to make Wilson the SUPERBOWL star instead of Marshawn to have better contract leverage against beast mode….. this is not even close to the United team that made them great, and it’s bad enough that the Legion of Boom, is the Legion that’s doomed right now, all that’s left is Sherm, Earl is great but playing thru injury limitatiòns and Cary and Sims are a significant downgrade from the standard of the legion of Boom.
And to complicate things even worse, is that adding a prominent star player like Jimmy Graham who is all finesse, and a smaller Finess Tyler Lockett is going to cause a little identity crisis early until they figure out how to balance the new Finnesse offensive pieces with the traditional smash mouth, grind it out style that has been a staple of the Seattle offense..
Not an ideal time for Seattle to have to travel cross country, to visit a GB team that stole a Super Bowl chance away from them last year and the numbers say that teams that start 0-2 have only made it to the playoffs 12% of the time… That franchise is a very fragile state right now, and probably the worst time imaginable to lose to GB and go down 0-2..
too Many Chinks in the seattle armor that made them into a quasi mini dynasty.. The Philadelphia Eagles have to stay healthy and play up to their potential because this conference will NEVER be more WIDE OPEN then it is THIS YEAR! Just stay Healthy, and we should find ourselves in a geat position to make a playoff run.. But we have a ton of growing to do to get their, and most importantly keeping our roster Healthy all year

  31. 31 P_P_K said at 12:01 PM on September 16th, 2015:

I agree the Kam situation in Seattle is more significant than Many seem to think.

  32. 32 GEAGLE said at 12:06 PM on September 16th, 2015:

My wish is that the Bears franchise completely crashes and burns to the point where they blow that team up and start rebuilding that team…
IMO the #1 thing on my Eagle wish list would be finding a way to get Kyle Long to Philly. I’d Rather spend two draft picks and a player like a huff for Long, then to spend draft picks on lIneman we need to grow. This team is ready to compete NOW, IDEALLY we can get our hands on a young Guard like Long who is seasoned and totally game ready, rather then worrying about hitting on the Guard we draft and then Develope him.. Wishful thinking, when it’s time to pay him, they will be so bad that they value extra high draft picks who they can have on cheap rookie deals more then committing To Long.. perfect guard who we know can handle the tempo, even possible RT when Lane eventually moves to the left side. Adding Kyle Long is my dream, but it doesn’t have to be him, as long as it’s a mean, athletic, talented young player who can be here longterm, but be more game ready then a rookie.. A stud Guard going into his 3rd,4th or 5th yr would be Ideal, because adding a stud starting Guard, really helps our depth for next year since we extended Gardner and Dennis kelly who we would have on our bench next year, along with Tobin with another yeàr of growth under his belt
#2 on my wish list would be a Talented center to back up KELCE like Hroniss Grasu who can also compete at Guard, but his true value is being as talented of a backüp center as we can ever hope to carry on our bench for a stud center like KELCE who has missed games to injury…It doesn’t have to be Grasu, but I don’t quality centers to stick on our bench league wide, off the top of my head. But Hopefully this is the last season where we don’t have a high quality backüp center insurance to KELCE, if he can start at Guard also, EVEN better
Get a starting Guard who is better then both Barbre and Gardner, AND a quality back up center insurance, and not only would our OL be even better, but it would be a big boost to our depth..
Hopefully the Guard can be signed or traded for. We need youth, but rather it not be a rookie, when we are so ready to contend .
    #3) Another outside WR
    #4) another OLB
Not many other spots where I’m looking to replace guys,,. Maybe another young Safety on the bench who is better then Couplin

  33. 33 GEAGLE said at 12:21 PM on September 16th, 2015:

While Seattle is having team “Issues”, The Packers also suffered a Loss, ILB Barrington done for the year. He was supposed to be the ILB upgrade that allowed them to łet Clay Mathews rush the passer opposite of Julius Peppers.. This loss should take Clay Away from rushiñg the passer at times, because GB has a better #3 OLB then what they had at backüp ILB
Good news for GB is Datone Jones and Letroy Guiyon are ready to come back from suspensions and give that defense a boost..but they can Ill afford another injury to any of the current starting Linebackers or lack of depth can get them in trouble, along with their continuos SPecial Teams defficiencies

It’s no secret that Foles is my dude, Big Fan… But I have to admit how much better it is to listen to a Bradford press conference then it was to watch Foles at the podium who was like a broken record… Foles at the Podium is Bellichicks Dream QB, he says NOTHING, just repeats the same rah rah team first cliche’s over and over each week…get boring and pointless to even tune in to a Foles press conference. it’s a nice change to hear Sam who can be personable and answer questions honestly, but still know what a QB is supposed to say not to ruffle feathers in the locker room or giving opponents bulletin board material.. For example he was just asked what he knows about the Dallas and if he can feel it this week and it’s nice to hear a QB give you real legit answers, be able to honestly talk about the issue without saying something that would upset a coach, teammate or even give opponents bulletin board material… Where as it was like Foles always worried about making sure he didn’t say anything wrong that he sounds like a robotic cliche at the podium each week, his press conferences are like the QB version of Bellichick

  41. 41 botto said at 12:52 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Field.. Happy for the kid… Hopefully he paid his injury dudes and can have a few years of good injury luck

  43. 43 anon said at 2:44 PM on September 16th, 2015:

22/25 is pretty impressive especially when he’s distributing the ball, making the right reads and we don’t have a run game to rely on. Feels good that we didn’t lose the game b/c the QB couldnt connect.

  44. 44 nevadausa16 said at 1:10 PM on September 16th, 2015:

When Foles was an Eagle, a certain someone said this:

So far, a QB can’t possibly carry himself better than FOles has..good times and bad times, he has handled every situation as well as you could ever possibly hope for. Seems always truthful, and Truly “GETS IT”…. And we all know what it’s like going from Andy’s “times yours” to chips press conferences,,.

  45. 45 Jesús M Hernández said at 1:47 PM on September 16th, 2015:

  47. 47 sonofdman said at 3:51 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Thanks! Now I like that Twitter account even more.

  49. 49 GEAGLE said at 1:48 PM on September 16th, 2015:

There is NOTHING at all wrong with Foles at a press conference. He won’t EVER say a single wrong thing.. But after a while, Like Reid, it was extremely predictable.. Unless your QB is throwing teammates under the bus or giving the other team bulletin board material then your QBs press conferences mean absolutely NOTHING..
But some players and coaches can say the right things while still answering questions openly, others don’t even risk saying anything that can be taken the wrong way and give cookie cutter answers… not exactly some anti Foles comment right there pal

Some players and coaches after you see 5 of their press conferences no need to see any more because they won’t tell you anything. At this point, I don’t even know why reporters waste their time going to a Bellichick press conference, but that’s not a negative about him as a coach… If the worst thing about our QB is a boring press conference, consider yourself lucky

it’s a pretty vanilla team — i think we see how they play us and then we react.

  55. 55 Tumtum said at 3:35 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Gassed and just all around better play. In the first half there were some really stupid mistakes that were drive killers. There were less in the second half, but ultimately the drop by JMatt probably cost us the game.

The defense played solid in the first half considering the circumstances they were put in. Julio did what he does, but they kept him from scoring on the big plays.

In the second half the offense stopped trying to run up the middle, and found their run game. That let drives extend and the defense then played absolutely phenomenal.

Side note.. drives dont need to last 10 minutes, but 3 and outs hurt the defense soooo bad due to the speed. A 2 minute drive by the O would be an eternity to our D. Taking 10 seconds off of the game clock just doesn’t give them enough real life time to rest.

Back in 2011, a nationally-hyped Eagles team played in an early season primetime matchup at the Georgia Dome. The Eagles came back from a deficit, only to lose a very winnable game in the end. Everybody said they would be fine, especially with a depleted, receiver-less division rival coming to Philadelphia the following week…

…That game ended in a defeat to the New York Giants (‘the Victor Cruz game’), and the Eagles went into a shocking tailspin.

I know there are many differences here (such as the Vick injury in 2011), but this has crossed my mind several times. We need to blow Dallas off the field on Sunday.

Pretty irrelevant what happened to an eagle team in 2011..
But with every game you can find trends that fit your narrative, just like you can bend stats to support an opinion..For example, going into Monday’s Falcons game, if you thought the Eagles would win, you could point to how Atlanta has the worst MNF win percentage. If you thought the Falcons would win, you could point to Matt Ryan being 6-0 in opening games,

  69. 69 sonofdman said at 3:44 PM on September 16th, 2015:

I went to that Giants game and I remember listening to the radio on the way to the game and everyone (hosts and callers) were saying that they could not see any way we lose.

Every team is threat and there are no gimme games. Especially in the division.

  78. 78 ACViking said at 2:55 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Banging a cowbell — if it was a cowbell — in the Georgia Dome could be an inside joke about “Artificial Noise” sourced from SEC country. The Falcons of course were hit with an NFL penalty for piping artificial noise at home games.

Ringing a cowbell during the game is a longtime tradition at Mississippi State — dating back to WWII. (The apocryphal story is a cow wondered onto the playing field during an Ole Miss at MSU game. And after MSU won, the cowbell became a staple of good luck.)

But because of complaints about “artificial noise” by teams visiting MSU, the SEC adopted a rule in the early ’70s baring the use of noise-makers — i.e., “artificial noise” — in SEC games.

In 2010, the SEC amended the no-artificial noise rule by once again allowing the ringing of cowbells at MSU home games.

    1) DONT Take away the Sack Fumble Turnover Fletcher Cox earned at a crucial time where we were fighting our ass off to get back in that game. Kiko didn’t effect the Guy he was covering AT ALL, you can’t take that turnover away from us like that at such a critical point,
    2) you threw 300 Flags, and you don’t throw a flag on the one play in the entire game that Warranted a fine, that illegal hit to Jordan could have cost us our top WR for a few weeks and you don’t call anything..

Atlanta safety William Moore fined like 23k for his illegal hit on Jordan Mathews. We got flagged every single time we breathed on a falcon player, yet we can’t get a penalty called for a his worthy of a fine that could have cost us Jordan Mathews for weeks had he been concussed??? Weak sauce
But Kiko makes insignificant contact down field and we get a strip sack turnover taken away from us at a crucial point during the game, you don’t make that Bullshit call, and good chance we win that game. They were on the ropes, a bullshit call like that totally saves them and let’s them off the hook.
If you are going to call every single penalty imaginable on us, you better at least give us a call on the one play in the entire game that was worthy of a fine. You threw the flags all night except on the one illegal play in the game that warranted a fine… We didn’t LOSE the game because of the Refs, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t do their job and not take away such a crucial play from a team that busted it’s ass overcame a bunch of penalties to get back in that game..
What funny is that whenever a bullshit call goes against us, and they ask the jackass head of officiating to explain the call on the broadcast, His opinion almost always is anti eagle…
That first half was disgusting enough to sit thru as eagle fans, the friggin refs shouldn’t pile onto our disparity.
We are good enough to beat that Falcons team and overcome any bullshit the refs threw our way so I can’t blame the loss on the refs.. But I would be lying if I said that I thought that was a fairly ref’ed game. I seen plenty of times when their OL got away with shit we were getting called for on multiple times

By the time I watch Sportscenter, football tonight after the 4pm games, some NFL network next day coverage, and inside the NFL on HBO, I will have seen all the plays you see on Sunday watching a highlight channel… Football isn’t football without the struggles and adversity you have to overcome and endure in between the highlights you see on the REDZONE channel..

  126. 126 GEAGLE said at 4:42 PM on September 16th, 2015:

I feel like the redzone highlight era has screwed up the way Eagles fans view games,. They expect a good win to always be some 40 to 3 picnic, and God forbid the first two drives doesn’t go the Eagles way, the sky is automatically falling in Philly…
Just because we have a really good coach and a ton of talent, doesn’t mean we should expect to see these college type blowouts every week where we barely face adversity all game..
Watching the first half of atlanta, we looked terrible, yet I swear to you that at no point in the first half did I stop thinking we were going to win that game. At Haftime, in my head, I was still completely convinced we were winning that game. not because I saw anytning in the first half beating we took that gave me hope, but because I’m just not wired to ever feel we are out of a game at Halftime.. Even when we are supposed to be much better then a team and I think we will blow them out, I’m NEVER surprised to run into some adversity,,. This is literally the ultimate team game.. You can have 10 players playing well, and 1 guy gets beat, can stall your entire offense or get your defense burnt… Every roster has talent. All it takes is one of your 11 players getting beat bad on a play and it can have drastic effect on the game,. You can’t expect all 11 of your players to dominate all 11 players of the opponents every play for 60 minutes… odds are, you will run into some adversity that you willl have to overcome, one play can start to change the course of an entire game.. What you see in the 1st quarter is often irrelevant by the 4th Quarter, that’s what makes this game so amazing,,, which Is why I will never be able to wrap my head around, how fans can be so down and think we will lose after a bad half of play. If atlanta can have a good half and score 20 points, then why should I feel like we can’t make adjustments come back and score 30 in the next half? Losing will ever cross my mind in the first half, unless maybe if we are suffering a bunch of key injuries while getting our butts whipped… But as long as we are still healthy, I don’t care what happens in the first half, I will always still think we will adjust and win the game, as long as I can believe in the coaching, preperation, talent and Charachter of our team… Obviously, when I see a gutless group of Eagles like the 2012 team, you can bet I won’t be as confident,,, but if you believe in the talent, coaching and Charchter on this team, you should NEVER think we aren’t going to win the game at halftime… And I’m grateful and feel fortunate that the Eagles are at a point where I believe in the leadership, ability and preperation of this eagle team

I truly want to believe that Murray is gonna come out and smash the Cowboys but Im worried about this O-line for the first time since we released the starting guards from last year. Of course a perfectly good explanantion is, Monday was the first time those combination of 5 players played together in a real game. We all know they need time to gel. However after all of that I still have the bitter taste of seeing several mistakes from last year ending up in our loss to a decent team. Im honestly not really even excited for the games against the Redskins, Panthers, etc. Im lookong forward to Cowboys, Saints, Pats, etc. I NEED to see us compete with the big boys.

The Jets game could be tougher then we think if our interior OL isn’t ready to block those DTs on the Jets….
Wonder who they will stick Revis on? Wouldn’t be that crazy to see them disrespect our outside WRs and see Bowles put together a game plan that has REVIS on Sproles when he is in the game, or we could end up seeing REVIS on the Pope,,,, not sure they can afford to waste his talent on Agholar, Huff or Coop…

  152. 152 Mitchell said at 5:03 PM on September 16th, 2015:

  153. 153 GEAGLE said at 5:09 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Yeah I’d probably view a top defense like the jets as a better test, then us facing a top offense like the colts that will struggle on defense..

  154. 154 RobNE said at 5:07 PM on September 16th, 2015:

wasn’t it the first time the Falcons OL played together? They had just traded for one guy the week before.

  155. 155 GEAGLE said at 5:21 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Yeah, but that’s oversimplifying things because Rarely did they have the Balls to try to block us with Those “5”.. A lot of that first half Atlanta was keeping 6, 7 guys in to block,,. We didn’t actually see their “5 OL” shut down our rush.
But that’s not an excuse, it was no secret that they weren’t going to go with 3, or 4 WRs this week even tho teams will Probabky want to test our nickel and dime, because of the fact that they weren’t going to have the confidence in that unit to try and only blocks us with 5 guys,, so we should have been more prepared to get Pressure on them in the first half, instead of leaving Maxwell out to dry, asking him to cover for like 5 seconds on long developing play action pass routes down field

  156. 156 anon said at 5:41 PM on September 16th, 2015:

the opposite of the eagles, they have one guy and say “stop him”. Usually we take away the run and force the pass, feel like we should have tried that here, but its hard when you have julio and roddy.

    Both teams I suppose.

  158. 158 GEAGLE said at 5:07 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Cowboys are coming into this game with their entire DL depth depleted. You do NOT want to face our tempo unless you have at least 6 quality players on the DL that you are comfortable rotating into a game, and they will be short Gregory, Hardy this week, which will force them to probably take Mincy away from DT weakening DT depth, because they don’t have another DE that can start opposite of Demarcus Lawrence…
We didn’t move the ball in the first half, and Atlanta rotated its DL depth and we still managed to completely gas them with our tempo in the second half.. What’s going to happen to a cowboy DL that lacks depth, if we get our tempo going and start wearing them down in the first half? What happens when they are drained at halftime and they see a fresh Ryan Mathews getting ready to come into the game for the first time?
As Long as we don’t wait Til the second half to show up, or tempo should really cripple their lack of depth… Not only do I expect to beat them with tempo, but when they are so tired and DONT have backups to give them a breather, they wetter be worried about being more susceptible to injuries..

THeir Lack of DL depth can be a nightmare against our tempo especially if we show up in the first half… And on the other side of the ball, it’s probably not ideal to be facing Kiko, Barwin and Kendricks when you will be looking to TEs Witten and Escobar and throwing to RB Dunbar because they can’t run against us..
If they had all their horses on Defense, maybe they can overcome the Loss of DEz, but between the players they lost to injuries and the players who are suspended because they don’t care about Charachter, it’s like the worse time possible for them to have to face us… if we show up ready to play in the first half, by the 3rd quarter we will take their conditioning into deep waters and then DROWN THEM!!!

I hope most of the whiners are finished now? First, too many Eagles fans were telling themselves, “The national media is mean to our boys. We are waaay better than they say. The national media said negative things about other teams, but we believe them”. Second , in the first half everybody on the offense was not in sync. Timing was off. Idiot penalties, passes dropped, Sam overthrowing a couple. That will go away. Third, Julio will beat everybody. Heck, on Sunday I saw Revis get beaten by a receiver he had already knocked down! Revis! Jones caught that pass from Rodgers with Ball velcroed to his jersey. Fourth, the Front Seven (Magnificent Seven?) let ball carriers eel and slither through the line too many times for 2 or 3 yards when it mattered. This seems more noteworthy than the back-end still working the kinks out. For those who don’t actually watch the games but want to crucify the coaches:- the coaching staff changed their scheming at half-time, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER COACHING STAFF IN THE WHOLE LEAGUE!!

Finally: Presidential quote (plus many a winning coach):

What we needed on D was a Rex Ryan Blitz approach which he used on Luck. Kill the passer and let the WRs run wild – in the end it does not matter if they are open when the QB is on his back.

Remember last season where we kept seeing erratic performances from the this team where they would play 2/2.5 good quarters of football coupled with some really crappy stretches?

Most of the year though we kept talking about the Eagles playing 4 complete quarters though without seeing. Really didn’t occur to the Sunday night vs Giants and again vs Dallas on Thanksgiving.

Against inferior teams /and/or at home, the Eagles can probably get away with playing on a good half or so. On the road though and/or against better teams that have some offensive capability, it generally won’t.

  181. 181 Insomniac said at 9:24 PM on September 16th, 2015:

People were hyping up the potential of the team. They forgot that we have to hit all cylinders to get to that potential and then reality hit. It’s the 2nd week and we have some times to iron out some things (ok maybe not the secondary though).

  182. 182 BobSmith77 said at 9:57 PM on September 16th, 2015:

Think we are going to get more of the former and inconsistent football most of the year with a couple of teaser games.

I had the Eagles at 10-6 on here and taking the WC. Its funny but it a lot of ways I felt this team went in a circle this offseason and still feel that way.

  183. 183 Avery Greene said at 10:33 AM on September 17th, 2015:

I’m not ready to say that yet. A lot of the inconsistent play last year came from the QB. Bradford without a running game was stellar in the 2nd half. Last year, we didn’t get that type of play with a non-existent run game.
Let’s see how it plays out before we decide they are playing inconsistent football all year. We have two new OL, new QB, new RB, and a new WR. Lots of moving pieces. It looks like there was a lot of miscommunication, and that comes with time.

If they are still playing mostly inconsistent ball Week 7 or 8, I will agree. If they look like they are starting to hit their stride Week 7 or 8 (not unusual for good teams), then we have something to be hopeful for.

  184. 184 unhinged said at 11:38 PM on September 16th, 2015:

It all starts w/QB. I really think that if the OL can get its issues ironed out and Bradford can ID his third and fourth options MOST snaps, the run game and tempo can contribute to a rhythm that will set a tone. We beat ourselves often last season, and we did that in the first half monday night. That trend was discontinued in the 2nd half until that last drive stalled. I don’t think we are very far from consistency.

ppl are not talking about this much, but the play of the game, IMO was the 3rd and 20 when the falcons ran the draw and converted. At that point, Atlanta’s defense was gassed, Eagles O was rolling and we had a 1 pt lead if i recall. If they get off the field, I have no doubt Philly scores another TD and makes it an 8 pt game…its just frustrating. That 1 play was so reminiscent to the last few years of the D not being able to get off the field on 3rd and 10+…o well on to dallas…

Nobody’s really calling him out (that I have seen), but it looked like Kiko played that play really poorly. Once he saw that Coleman had the ball and was running toward Kiko, it looked like Kiko waited to meet him a fe yards short of the first down marker. This let Coleman change the angle he was running at and get past Kiko to get the first down. If Kiko had attacked he may have gotten the tackle or at least forced Coleman to make a move earlier which could have forced him towards the sideline and maybe could have given another eagle a chance to help out. I’m a big Kiko fan, but that wad my impression when watching the replay of that play.

I know Mathis in Denver was having major issues getting up to speed. Then he didnt have the preseason and camp to do it so its more understandable. He was getting ahead of the other linemen and creating gaps they were saying, so a lot of timing stuff is important to gel on.

In the Seattle game last year (and some other games) defensive linemen were flying right to where run plays were going immediately when the ball was snapped and after the game Seattle’s defensive players were saying how they knew what plays the Eagles were running. It looked just like that in the first half of the Atlanta game and Atlanta’s coach was Seattle’s defensive coordinator last year.

  290. 290 76mustang said at 6:09 PM on September 17th, 2015:

If you were a DC and game planning against the Eagles offense facing a QB that hadn’t taken a game snap in @600 days, and had a backfield of DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews, and had an OLine starting 2 journeyman guards, wouldn’t your first priority be to stop the run and make Bradford prove he was all the way back?

The thing about Chip’s offense is that he has the weapons to use the pass to set up the run, and vice versa. It really is a pick your poison scenario that DCs are faced with when game planning the Eagles. For now, I imagine DCs are going to load up in the box and take their chances with Bradford and the Eagles’ receiving corps.

My hope is that Chip and Pat realize this and counter with the type of play selection they used in the 2nd half (as it relates to scheme/personnel on other side).
Chip was very rusty in his play calling. He needs to step up his game and be ready for whatever the Cowboys decide to throw his way.

That’s absurd: plenty that needs to be much better, but there is also a lot to like,
For example, the way we played in the second half, refusing to allow so many costly penalties to derail our drives and keep us out of the end zone.
our Guards actually weren’t at all bad in pass protection during the second half, and that’s impressive especially when we abandoned the run completely allowing the Atlanta DL to not even worry about the run, focusing everything on getting to Bradford. Of course Bradfords quick release also helped, he was hit 8 times yet wasn’t sacked a single time, which says he is helping the OL not holding onto the ball.. Wish he would have taked the sack instead of throwing the INT,

What to do about the guard situation? nothing! Adding free agents off the street or trading for a guard today isn’t going to solve our problems. patience, continuity, hard work allowing 10 new starters to Gel is how we fix this issue.. Changing personnel will only set the gelling process back and make it take longer for us to gel the way we need to.
All the practice reps in the world won’t solve this problem, In order to gel as a team so we can stand a chance at this ultimate team game, there is no substitute for being on the battlefield with your teammates while the love bullets are flying and face adversity. There is no substitute for that, when we decided that last years roster wasn’t good Enough and that we would have to make so many drastic changes, it should have been understood that we were going to have to start the gelling process all over again, instead of being able to just build off last year..
Remember the start of the chip Kelly era? A rough month of September, but after the Denver ass whooping when we had a month to Gel, everything started to click and we were a completely different team then what we saw in September..
Understand that we have to go thru this process together, there is no substitute or expediting this process.. Good news is what we see in September, good or bad, is just a starting point for the team we will see us grow into over the course of this season… Stay afloat in September, grind out some wins, and come beginnings to mid Octobrr, we will start to see serious growth as the weeks go by,,, we aren’t some veteran team that’s been together with little changes for the past 3 years so we need to understand, that it’s a mistake to expect to now be seeing the Team we are going to see in November/December and hopefully January
Forget about the style points now,
Blowing teams out today isn’t important. What’s important is that we score at least 1 more point then our next 3 opponents so that we don’t fall behind in the rankings before we gel into what the 2015 eagles should be…
All that matters today, is grinding out wins and growing from one game to the next while remaining healthy.. If we can stay healthy, I HAVE NO DOUBT, this collection of players will gel and then start picking up more and more steam as the season goes on like a giant boulder getting faster and faster while rolling down hill trampling everything we come across..
patience, Hard work, supporting each other… We have to respect the grind and understand their is no substitute for being on the field facing adversity with your teammates to gel into the team we think we are capable of Being this year., this team was always going to have to grow as this season unfolded. even if we blow out Dallas, it’s just a starting point and the team that blows out Dallas won’t win anything this year if it doesn’Continue to grow from each game..
In September, wins are all that matters. even if we look great today, it won’t be good enough unless we continue to grow from each game.
Nothing to do but be patient and put in the work, stay healthy and these coaches will get us where we need to be

Dude, just stop it. This isn’t madden where you can just take a RB sub him in at outside WR and he will immediately perform like he had been a WR his entire life
You are seriously mistaken if you think someone who has been practicing at OLB for like 3 weeks is ready to play ahead of a guy who has been an OLB in this system for 3 years,.. Believe it or not, there is more to playing OLB then just trying to run to the guy with the ball as soon as the ball is snapped… Even chip talked this morning about how Raw Vinny is, how he still needs to learn the keys, the reads, the techniques of playing outside Linebacker in our base defense and how his technique was all over the place last week. He needs to learn the position much better before you can even consider such a thing… Vinny is my favorite player on the team, but to say he is ready to play OLB in our base over Brandon Graham is just ridiculous.
Might want to give Brandon Graham more then a game before you kick him to the curb, FYI, my boy Vinny played against the Falcons too and he didn’t do anything either

This week is driving me mad.. I care about the Eagles too, can I find a halfway accurate discussion about the game and our season. cHange this, bench that, replace him, sign Johnny bagpfdonuts off the street, how dare Sam Bradford need first half of a game to get over two years worth of rust? The audacity of that Bradford.,
I swear it’s like we signed a great college coach, and now eagles fans watch NFl games expecting to see cake walk, no adversity, college blowouts every week.. You post on this site during a game, and God forbid the Eagles don’t play well the first two drives of the game, the sky is falling, games over, our season is doomed,,, it’s like as if people are expecting an Eagles game to look like Oregon vs bumble Fuck university each week. How did our fans ever get like this? It’s like they have been accustomed to two decades of complete eagle dominance.,.. And what’s REALLY frightening, is this site represents one of the smarter segments of our fanbase, yet if an Eagles game isn’t going our way in the first quarter, everyone’s ready to talk about the Draft, If it’s that crazy when we face adversity on this site, I can’t even imagine what another sites comment section looked like during the first half of the falcons game.
When I looked at the matchups, I thought we should blow out the Falcons too, that didn’t happen, but that has no bearing on what I think of this years team… To make matters worse, people see that a guy like Jason Peters is a Great Player, but that doesn’t mean Jp is NEVER going to get beat over the course of a game., and God forbid he has a rough entire game, everyone will start saying he is done… It’s insanity..
no Matter how great our players are, whether they are hall of Famers or all pros, every team has some type of talent on the other team too, and even the greatest players are going to face adversity in games and get beat during games, Jason Peters had a rough first half, yet that shouldn’t be enough to be concerned and start
Shitting on out players talking abut how they are done.. everyone GETs Beat, it happens…
And when we kick Dallas ass Sunday, it will be back to talking about the Super Bowl, either extreme is crazy. It’s a long season and teams do grow over the course of a season. It’s really not a case of seeing how a team plays in week 1, and that’s the level of play we will se for the next 15 weeks… The teams that play in the SB this year, will be significantly better in December then how they look in September.. The teams who stay healthy or overcome injuries the best and continue to grow the most over the course of the season are the teams that will compete for a Super Bowl..
The Patriots team we saw win this Super Bowl in febuary was drastically different then the pats team stinking it up in September last year
as long as we are healthy, we are a well coached, hardworking high charechter team. losing sucks, but relax its September for crying out loud. And the silver lining to injuries is if you have the right coaching an charechter in your locker room, the losses will promote the most team growth for us…
Sunday we are going to look awesome, we will smack Dallas around, but we will still have a ton of work and growing to do if we want this to be a great season.
I can’t stomach my fellow fans turning into soft, gutless, winning fans whenever some adversity presents itself and we have a rough stretch… Seasons are a roller coaster, you can look incompetent in the first half and then look like world beaters in the second half. Like players no point getting too high, or too low in September, especially when we were just 9-3 last year and had no playoff birth to show for it..

Well said brother. I really don’t hope this blog doesn’t turn into 247 that would be really upsetting. As for people already declaring us a dumpster fire, it is truly ridiculous. Like you said look at the Pats from last year who after week 4 some folks were already calling for Brady to retire and the Pats were done forever and look how that turned out. The 2nd half showing should show people that Chip isn’t an idiot and he can make adjustments. I really seen people call for Andy Reid to come back, like really people? I don’t remember the last time Big Red making a half time adjustment. All in all I’m with you on everything you said.

Graham has never really developed a set of pass rushing moves either. If I wonder if that is due to knee issues which hamper his ability to move laterally or pivot quickly.

Understood why the Eagles brought him back given the issues they have at OLB but just disappears/non factor for long stretches.

The refs should be paid on performance. They should have a tier system. 0 mistakes= highest amount of pay, 1-2 = x pay, 3-4 = y pay. >4 suspended for a week. Officials need to start being held accountable. If the mistakes keep coming they should be “benched” or “cut”. Mistakes could be bad calls or missed calls. Ie. JM getting jacked in the head, no flag but a fine the next day. Or visa/ versa, player getting flagged but no penalty actually occured.

That is scary. They got screwed against the Cowboys but noone has had more bad calls go their way over recent years than the Giants.

In 2011 they would have lost to the Cardinals and not made the playoffs if the refs didn’t decide that a clear fumble by Victor Cruz didn’t count and their most reliable play with Eli has been to throw an underthrown pass somewhere near the receiver and wait for a PI call.

  338. 338 Avery Greene said at 2:00 PM on September 17th, 2015:

I agree with everything except the very last part: “player getting flagged but no penalty actually occurred.”

  339. 339 Eagle Talon said at 2:07 PM on September 17th, 2015:

I can respect that. I was talking out of frustration. The NFL needs to allow coaches to challenge penalties. Set it up like challenge process of instant replay. If it is a huge penalty the coach should be able to get a review. Some bad calls on penalties change the game just like a turnover.

  340. 340 Avery Greene said at 2:10 PM on September 17th, 2015:

philly fans were happy with kelly after season? kelly got hammered here with how the season ended & had a lot of doubters until what occurred in preseason this year.

even going into preseason, i can’t think of one media personality in town who was talking Super Bowl contender for this team.

Even a phony liked Gargano flipped his viewpoint and all of a sudden said this season was a disappointment if this team didn’t go to the NFC Championship game after the preseason.

Winning the post season in the NFL is too variable to view anything short of a championship as a disappointment. The only way this season should be viewed as a disappointment is if they are done playing by January for the 4th time in 5 years contrary to Lurie’s ‘gold-standard organization’ comments yet again this offseason.

More mediocrity ala the Dolphins especially with the last playoff win back in ’08.

  354. 354 Avery Greene said at 2:02 PM on September 17th, 2015:

The index finger is gone entirely, cut off at the palm portion of the hand. I can’t tell if the knuckle is still there. The thumb is bandaged and looks a bit smaller. He may be missing the tip, but he’s probably still got the knuckle. There looks to be some major scarring going on in the web between the two. The middle finger is wrapped from top to bottom in bandages preventing it from bending, but it looks to be all there. The two small fingers are in tact, but swollen. Blade of the palm is fine.

I hope he is smart enough to understand the reality of his situatipn, aka forget about your 70,80,90, 100mil contract Dreams..you can forget that…. Better tuck your tail, and do whatever the Giants need you to do to get them to put you on the field ASAP, because you are going to get stuck signing a very cheap, non Guaramteed 1yr contract, and you won’t Ever make Millions again until you can get on the field and prove you can be close to the player you were before you blew your own hand up..
Sad sad story to see a young man Maime hmself pissing away his lottery ticket after playing hard ball and refusing to opt for the financial security. I won’t lose any sleep if he is never effective again against the Eagles, but I surely don’t wish him any more harm then he has already endured, hopefully he can get back to playing the game At a reasonable level so he can make some mney and secure a future for him and his family… I want him to suck against the Eagles, I get no joy from seeing him lose his entire career, so I am rooting for him to overcome this, just not against us

And if Mathis isn’t good tonight, we will find that out quickly by the NO Joke Kansas City defense putting a beating On Peyton..
Some Tough defenses on display tonight. Denver defense will have to keep Denver in this game, fortunately for them, they have some awesome pass rushers that can have a field day against that bust Eric Fisher… I trust KC offense much more then Peyton being neutered by Kubiak, especially since Ty Sombrero can be exposed to get to Peyton, just like Eric Fisher can be exposed to get to Alex smith.. But I actually trust Alex smith with his weapons Zeus, Chaarles and Maclin more then I trust Denvers weapons because I have less confidence in Peyton then Alex smith..
