CAR 14, PHI 6 – 2nd Half

Not a pretty 1st half at all. The offense is struggling and the defense has given up 119 yards rushing already. To be fair, most of that came on 2 plays (a 43-yard run by WR Ted Ginn will do that).

The Eagles stole 3 points at the end of the half to cut the lead to just one possession. Better field goals than nothing, but the Eagles must get TDs.

Sam Bradford did not have a good 1st half, but he was hurt by drops (what’s new) and some penalties on his OL. Speaking of the OL, Jason Peters left the game with a lower back injury. That hasn’t helped matters.

Bradford seemed to wake up a bit late in the half. He really needs to get going if this offense is going to have some success. The Eagles have run the ball reasonably well, but need more production from the passing game.

This is still a very winnable game, but the Eagles have got to play better in the 2nd half.

Game feels like a loss.
However, we’ve run 42 plays already. Might take a toll in the 2nd half. Murray and Matthews might have some fun in the 4th qtr.
Time to see what adjustments Chip and Billy make.

I said in the last thread that the offense isn’t actually playing horribly. They’re making mistakes at inopportune times. We’ve handled them, just need to stop with the stupidity.

I understand being frustrated, but if we are going to celebrate an aggressive defense that gets key turnovers, you have to allow for Maxwell to go for the ball hanging out there after Jenkins knocked the 260 lb back off balance.

Three of the INTs were dropped passes which should have been caught. The INT problem was really just the previous two games… and those were inaccurate passes for the most part, not bad decisions. That problem did need to be fixed but I didn’t see the short passes tonight. Behind the receiver too much yes, but it looks like he did work on stuff.

No horrific interceptions, bizarre fumbles, incompetently blocked running plays that go for negative 7 yards. Was just the drops really, and that one really sad whiff by Byron Maxwell on Mike Tolbert.
Otherwise we at least played respectably, so I’m happy. It’s a big step up from where we were a few weeks ago.

I can’t agree. When the Eagles aren’t a contender, I want to see promising signs for the future. So far what I see is:
– We don’t know who our QB will be next year.
– Our three young WRs are all not meeting even reasonable expectations.
– DeMarco Murray may be ok, but the Eagles paid way too much for him.
– The offensive line is a shambles with only two guys, Johnson and Kelce, who seem like legitimate future starers. (excluding Peters because he’s old and will retire before too long). And Kelce is undersized and overrated.
This team needs a complete overhaul on offense.

cam, still a celebrated mvp candidate, goes for 14/24 for under 200 yards. matthews avg over 16 per carry, and murray 3.6. murray gets 18 carries and mathews 6. keep murray at 18 and run more, pass less than 46 times.
but of course you could say bradford and cam throw for almost the same yardage, but cam only needed 24 throws to do it, or only 14 completions. so bradford and offense def has issue with yards per completion.

It looked like the same old running plays and passing plays we always run. The receivers were covered and/or dropping passes. I saw them run 4 verticals once in the second half, everyone was covered and they threw it underneath – it worked for a first down but they never went to it again.
They keep running that damn WR screen that NEVER works.
Very frustrating to watch – you never have the feeling that they are going to be effective.
