Awful
Posted: November 22nd, 2015 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 250 Comments »The Eagles played their worst game of the year. Tampa played their best. That’s how you get a 45-17 result.
The defense was horrible. Just horrible. Tampa had 355 yards at halftime and then went on a 9:47 drive to open the 3rd quarter. They did whatever they wanted. Very disappointing since the D had played so well this season.
The offense started great, but then stalled. Once the score got out of hand, Sanchez had no chance.
The Eagles are now 4-6.
Since getting out to a good lead last week the team has been outscored 62-20.
Ouch.
_
This just feels hopeless.
That’s what a poorly coached, poorly constructed football team looks like.
Watching a little of the post-game on Eagles.com and and they kept saying “you don’t want Sanchez to throw that much”
Then why the hell (wanted to type a stronger word there) is he on the roster? QBs are supposed to throw the ball – that’s their job! If he can’t do it consistently, show him the door!
there’s maybe 10 human beings in the world where you can put a game squarely on their shoulders and tell them to go win. If you don’t have one of those guys, you need to give a lot of help to the guy you do have. In those situations where the game situation takes away the run game, you’d better have a great line or great receivers.
I’m ready for the draft going full Sixers and rooting for losses don’t care if that makes me a “bad fan” or whatever thats what is best for us right now we are too bad to try and pretend to be competitive
Kinda the same, we need a QB, a WR and 2-3 new OL, plus plenty of depth on the D + secondary starters depending on FA.
We don’t have a lot of cap for a full rebuild if we extend Thurmond/Cox, so is a lot of draft work needed.
And dont really have ammo to move up for a great QB cuz we lost of high 2nd for no reason
Well if we suck out the rest of the year we will be in the mix. If we give a win to the Lions next week we can be in the No.1 draft pick chase… Chargers/Browns can both get 2 more wins.
Think that was the end of the Chip Kelly era, whether he leaves now, the end of the year, or later. Reminds me of 2012, the way the team is playing now.
Terrible game. Bad team. Im really conflicted if I want Chip back foe the first time. Im wondering if I even want him to draft a qb next year. So many questions compared to the end of the 3rd preseason game.
He will be back,..
If they go 4-12 or 5-11? I don’t think so.
I mean wed probably still not get rid of him….who would we go get right now? would we fire him a year after making him God? I mean I would love for them to do that but I doubt it
He will be here… Not sure if that’s a good thing, but he will be here
Yeah, next year is it though….another bad season and hes gone for sure
I would agree with that…. But LUrie seems like he errors on the side of stability, so who knows
Regardless of the record, he’ll be here next year unless he decides to leave on his own.
I’m being honest here. Does this team win another game this year?
probably somewhere…no better than 6-10 though
And if they dont, do you want Chip running the draft?
I mean we kind of have to give him another year unfortunately …unless the Briles pipe dream happens
I know.
Where do we pick with 4 wins?
top 10 somewhere….Paxton…?
sad we suck in a bad year for qbs
You never really know though.
Which leads to bad second year… any hope there?
possibly not
I think it will be a struggle to get to 7 wins,,
Patriots are going to kill them.
Fire Chip Kelly the GM……worst last 8 quarters of football I ve seen
I have a much bigger problem with Chip the Coach, than Chip the GM
well it seems like Dream team all over again. I agree with you ..the team is soft. Fire him as Gm and maybe he resigns as coach.
Id try to trade chip and our 1st to the Texans for Deandre Hopkins LOL
i want Obrien as coach
Hell NO! He might be the only coach making a bigger mess than Chip. I would have fired Obrien after playing musical chairs with his QBs the first month of the season, That hack OBrien would be lucky to be a QB coach after the mess he made..
it’s crazy that hopkins is just carrying that whole team. gotta be #2 behind antonio brown.
Well he is also a very good coach…Hey he made Mcgloin a QB… gosh and the guy is on an nfl roster.. Kelly traded away our stars and by the way thank god we traded for Alonzo. I know shady stinks Chip has to realize guys are here playing to feed their families not playing for scholarships… who cares we r stuck with winnie the pooh (chip) anyway
Not interested in college success… Moron got rid of Fitzpatrik who is having an Ok year for the Jets, so that he can start a new garbage QB every week to start the season, basically putting his team in panick mode with no continuity right from the start…. He damn sure HASNT done anything to warrant a pro HC job after he gets fired from Texans
..
Needs to go back to College, or work his way back up from Offensive Coordinator
Deandre is filthy though, keeping them relevant by himself…he should be their coach quite honestly….I wish we could have a guy like THAT 🙁
He did that with the cheatriots
(you lost me on the TG we traded for Alonzo” .. is that because you think kiko is good or because we all the fear that chip would’ve traded our best RB for no one ?)
You are better off taking Chip out of the deal…he has negative trade value
*7
the first quarter vs. Miami was good.
I’m officially out on trying to make the playoffs with this garbage heap.
Time to do what we did in the final 6 games of Reid’s last season: start building for next year.
1.)I want to see Marcus Smith on the field. Let’s give him one last shot to prove himself before we officially declare him a bust and cut him in the offseason.
2.)Start giving guys like Rowe, Agholor, Burton, Reynolds, etc. more reps. Yes, they’ll make mistakes that cost the team. But unlike the veterans in front of them, they at least have the potential to improve and can benefit from the experience.
3.)Lane Johnson moves to LT permanently. I think we’ve reached the point where we can’t count on Peters going forward, and Lane should start settling in at the spot he’ll hopefully be manning for the next 10 years.
4.)Scan other teams’ practice squads for promising talent. No need to keep limited veterans like Maragos, Braman, and Ajiratutu on the roster at this point.
Time to look forward.
I don’t think Huff or Agholor can possibly play worst than Miles Austin… Ags was open today, they just didn’t throw it to him much.
Yeah I’m not blaming the youmg WR’s… huff finally makes a big play on the first drive, and I don’t think he had another ball thrown to him all game..
..
AGHOLAR caught every ball I saw thrown to him all game… If they are waiting for WR to get WIDE OPEN, the NFL don’t work that way. You gotta throw it to covered WR and give them a chance to make the play
they don’t look outside, which is the opposite of last year, all passes are shallow to WRs or inside to TEs
Yup… Sanchez eyes were short or to the TE all day
I don’t disagree with you at all, but unfortumately its not going to happen… He will try to win every game with his best players… If he didn’t go young and tank when Mariota was in the draft and we weren’t making the playoffs, he won’t now..
Yep – the same as he did in the meaningless Giants game week 17 last year. Put the kids in and lets see what we’ve got.
I’m with that.
After the first few weeks, I was skeptical of chip the GM, now I’m seriously doubting chip the coach. Poor scheme, poot execution, getting predicatble, and no heart or pride is all on the coaching staff. Rebuild time.
I don’t think Chip should be GM. Not because he’s especially bad at picking players, but because he needs to focus on making the team better in every other aspect. Schematically it seems like we’ve been stuck in neutral for the past 3 years (which is not good in a fast changing nfl). Seems like he’s banked everything on getting the guys he wants in here to take what he’s doing to the next level. He himself is going to really have to focus on taking his craft to the next level this off season. I don’t think he needs the distraction of being a GM.
We suck, this is what a team looks lIke when you give all your talent away. I would say I am rooting to lose out. The problem with that is Chip is still running everything. I keep saying Chip has NO concept of value. This is the result of that and His Ego is to big to see His own faults. He will not be fired after this year so I will get use to it. Because I will always be a fan
Re: Kelly’s Post-Game Remarks
No mention of the coaches being out-coached.
Just that the players didn’t get it done.
our reprters are terrible in pcs. but chip repeats the same thing every game.
unfortunately “execute better than the other team” is not an acceptable game-plan. You can’t go into a game expecting your team to be more talented and better coached.
This is really bad.
We all made fun of Reid for his “I’ve got to do a better job” routine, but the players loved him and remained loyal to him because of it. Remember how many of them came back to salute him on his way out?
Chip’s “my way or the highway” approach will not go over well if he doesn’t win. If he throws his players under the bus over and over, it could turn into a full-scale mutiny.
Don’t you feel that might have already happened? I think Chip’s downfall is his inability to handle professional players as people, which has definitely affected his personnel decisions negatively.
Whatever. He’s writing his own ticket at this point.
So does Howie knock on Lurie’s door and say wanna think about giving me my old job back?
On a serious note:
1) not having a high No.2 pick next year will suck, and is looking really expensive at this point.
2) at what point do you start to hoping for a higher draft pick? If we loose to the Lions next week i will be all aboard the tank train.
me too
Im already aboard…have been since last week….ready for the draft
If Paxton Lynch is the QB prospect of choice among Eagles fans, how about “Pack it in for Paxton”?
I like Goff as well so there are 2 at least to look/lust over.
Well I already said we could also “drop off for Goff”.
Put me on team Goff as well.
Now that the season is pretty much over, the Eagles should try to imitate the Sixers from this point forward. Let’s see what our young guys can do.
why because chip what to do in the draft? or how to integrate new players ?
I’m actually not 100% sure Chip is going to be there next year. Regardless of my opinion on whether or not he should, that kinda looks like a team that did quit on his coach.
Well is first really bad loss of the year that looked like team threw in the towel.
Is hard for a team to be asked to give 100% commitment and then play like this and get these kinds of results.
Imitate the Sixers because they are successful?
Russell Shepherd – the Eagles should have a ‘Cut For Riley Cooper Hall of Fame’ shrine at the Linc.
cybill sheperd could have gotten open against our secondary
Re: Key Numbers
2-5: Eagles’ record in their last seven home games.
5-9: Eagles record in their last 14 games.
65-20: Opponents outscoring Eagles in the last 7 quarters.

Discouraging trends
Ever since last Thanksgiving, the Eagles have been on a downward slide. One year is enough to determine that the Chip experiment is over.
I don’t know what it means, but Facts are that chip has ONLY had NFL success with FOles as his QB… Not pumping up FOles, but those are the facts
well i’m sure he can get foles back
Wasn’t that when Desean was still here?
Ruben Frank made that same observation after the Carolina game.
Foles: 14-4
Other QBs: 10-14
Foles with Maclin (would be less cap this year), we would have more wins at this point and have had some better games… i guarantee it. oh and a 2nd round pick next year.
oh yeah for sure Foles isnt great but him, Maclin and the 2nd means we are probably 6-4 with more picks
nah, no ST or DEF TDs that’s what saved foles last year
well i’m sure we can pay him $7m next year and get him back, didn’t take long for him to losehis job
I mean I’m done….he makes awful decisions as a coach and GM…lets go of stars for no reason then overpays injury prone player….threw away a 2nd for nothing, has a total of 4 offensive plays…I am done, we have gotten worse and worse
I’m steeling myself to the fact that Lurie ain’t going to make the fire vs. extend decision until 2016 concludes.
Whens the draft? Lol
right now!
http://www.first-pick.com/
Watching the Eagles’ offense right now, I can’t help but think of what John Wooden told all his teams:
Be quick . . . but don’t hurry.
Sanchez needs to listen to those words.
Draft OL. Yep, I’m already talking about the draft.
And a QB, and a legitimate outside No.1 WR, And a RT, and 2x guards… and whatever you need on defense.
Seems like a total overhaul to me.
I still havent given up on Ags. I’ m thinking a new coach puts Matthews on the outside and Huff in the slot
Matthews has stepped back this year and has looked ineffective outside when not in the space that the slot gives. He just struggles to get separation against high end outside CB’s.
Huff has great YAK but is more of a No.4 WR type guy/gadget plays.
Agaholor has not shown much so far but with injuries is still really early, but has not looked like he has that Xfactor. Cooper is gone soon as season ends.
Ags was open today. And the guys that matthews has had trouble with have been some good CBs. He has shown up ever since the bye.
I think the problem is all he runs are crossing routes. They never send him downfeild.
I would love to see what it looks like if chip had to call plays with this personnel and a pro style offense, instead of such a limited offense that he keeps insisting on
i think ryan day is gone after this year. qbs are terrible.
WR is legit not as big a deal as the others…you can try and get by the Nelson, Matthews, Huff and a mid rounder for a little while…OL and QB are dire needs
Agholor can be a number 1. The best number 1 in tje league? No but definately top 10.
yeah he can be…you need to see them because that wr core can potentially be good the OL and QB is what REALLY needs to be worked on NOW
WR play has been really really bad this year… like worse than OL and maybe even QB.
Its been awful I agree but I see enough there to not spend ANOTHER high pick there unless the board dictates it…the OL can not be ignored any longer same with QB
I think they have been much better after the bye…. except Cooper and Austin… I don’t think Huff and Ags get enough targets
In my mind I am less worried about Nelson, Jordan and Huff going forward than a 60 year old JP and whoever the hell we start at guard
Tobin is garbage, shame on anyone who thinks otherwise
First Pick is up and running if you want to run a few of your own drafts.
It’s not letting me pick an offensive or defensive coordinator, which are our biggest needs.
I’m done with Chip… he got too cute for his own good
cute how so?
All the moves… I gave it a chance but it looks like this team has quit.
Paxton is my dude….my only dude really as far as QBs go so we need to lose out if we want to try and get in the top 5 and not get raped in trades
I’m more of a Goff guy, but I like Lynch as well. Will we suck enough to get a chance at either?
Where do you think they are going…we should be top 10 but I don’t think we will be top 5 unfortunately
Depends on how poorly QB needy teams fall and/or who has a major desire to trade up.
If season ended today we would be 10th with 4 Realistic QB destinations in front of us, we are going to have to increase our tanking efforts
And we lack a 2nd rounder to use to trade up!
YAY!
I think that neither Goff or Lynch are really all that. Only good play is a second (oops) for C. Jones and develop him.
Put me down as “ABSOLUTELY NOT” on Jones.
But I’m good at looking at Wentz or Kiel in the 3rd if we don’t want to go QB in round 1.
Seriously? Does he even play anymore? Yuck.
It’s time for a veteran GM in Philly – no more of this rookie parade with Howie then Chip. There are plenty of proven GMs that know how to build a team. Unfortunately, we’re looking at another 3 – 5 year re-build.
Howie can be the GM again I am cool with that…Chip has to leave though….IDK why I am still lusting after college coaches like Briles but I want someone
I think Chip is overloaded – go back to just HC and see how he performs.
I wish he was that humble.
Like I always said.. Howie will sit in the backgrounds, and whenever chip leaves, whether it’s next year or 7 years later, Howie will end up getting his GM job back, and Howie will end up hiring chips future replacement… Basically he is being paid to be held on Retainer Til Chip leaves and he gets his job back
Howie has a good GM track record… has managed cap well, signed flexible contracts and has a good draft record when he was in control.
Maybe there is someone better but i imagine if Chip leaves (he wont be fired) i imagine he is next man up… Lurie is paying him $1mil+ a year for a reason.
Yeah I dont feel like looking for a GM and coach when we at least have a solid GM who can help look for a coach
I agree that he’s a great numbers guy, I just don’t think his talent selection is all that much better than Kelly’s.
I hear you, but two things;
1 – I like Howie
2 – A new GM would mean Chip is fired.
Only thing worse than Eagles looking like shit is having to hear the mumbling, bumbling idiot Governor give his analysis after the game… And get Jillian Meale off my damn TV. You Hire some WORTHLESS Chick to read Tweets on the air? Fuck off
..
And don’t let me start on that Geppetoe looking imbecile Elliot Parker
I’m glad I live outside the market!
If you don’t want to listen, why watch?
I don’t get that.
Fuck off
Chill Geagle
This would not be so bad if this team was taking a step back so it could go three steps forward. However, especially on the offensive side of the ball, there are not many young players with upside to make anyone reasonably conclude that there will be any marked improvement. Of course, after today, the same could be said for the defense.
Eagles through 10 games:
2015: 4-6
2014: 7-3
2013: 5-5
2012: 3-7
2011: 4-6
This team has been utterly unenjoyable for the last 5 years except for the Foles takeover of 2013.
Wow. My sentiment exactly. But listening to many, Chip has actually proven something and deserves latitude.
flacco torn acl
Shame. Just once I’d like to see that be Eli.
Cox sounds Embarressed and pissed off.. “Total embarressment starting with me, I gotta go home and look myself im the mirror, total embarressment, total embarressment, Next question, Total Embarressment”… Appreciate the young pup coming to his own and taking ownership. But to me he looked like one of the only kids who showed up today as our leading tackler
..
Like that he isn’t talking about how we are still in it, and is furious over this loss
Also appreciate that he was able to be furious, but still hold his cool with reporters even tho he sounds more pissed than I ever heard him… He was able to be a pro, hit the reporter with “next question, Im embarressed” over and over instead of blowing up on media and behaving like cowboy trash
LBs were especially terrible. I think BG had two offside calls, Barwin had one – not to mention it seemed that a couple times a LB lost contain on the opposite side that went for a big play. It could have been a DB that was responsible, but everyone looked terrible.
Carroll and Biggers looked like they were abused all game.
I’ll see if I can stomach re-watching it, but I’m willing to bet that Kendricks is going to have a terrible day watching film of this game.
It seemed both BG’s and Barwin’s came on 3rd down which basically gave them 1st downs or very close to it.
But even still, they couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down.
I dunno. I know others love kendricks, but all I see is a super athletic but undersized guy that had zero instincts. In other words, he is nothing special. The guy is really overrated and generally over pursues everything. Hicks is so good and it takes watching kendricks run in to him when he over pursues to realize how good hicks could be
If it wasn’t clear, I tend to agree with you, at least for this game. Again, I’d have to go back and watch carefully (and still wouldn’t know for sure), but I got the feeling from watching it live that Kendricks did not do a good job of diagnosing plays and was a major factor in the big runs. I think he’s a blitzer and not much else.
BS armchair QBing. As if it’s that easy in realtime!
I called it in real time, and I’m generally not a guy who sees much in real time. That one was just that obvious. And you can see that Sanchez Kaepernicked it – he never took his eyes off of his first read, and the Bucs jumped it. But in the end – that’s Sanchez, and when your team gives up 45 points, including a 9 minute drive to start the second half, talking about your backup QB’s flaws is kind of missing the point.
Well (and my post came off more hostile than I meant), it’s not that easy when you’re on the field. And like you said, backup quarterback.
I actually agree, and got really tired of all the all 22 “experts” who would whine over Foles missing his wide open 4th read a couple times a game. My big gripe is that Sanchez got target lock and never got away from his first read, who was clearly well covered. Kaepernick could get away with that 50% of the time due to his cannon; Sanchez has no chance.
“It’s tough, I got a bunch of pissed off prideful men in there and it starts with me. From the coaching, on down, today was unacceptable”-Bill Davis
maybe Chip should…
Thats great and everything but what are you gonna do about it? You know?
That’s how you accept responsibility, Not the Bullshit chip feeds us
Who is prideful? Not a single player played with any today.
I certainly hope that Lurie will fire Chip but wonder if he will. Lurie has been a very good, hands-off owner with a long term outlook. He may reason that Kelly has had only one full year in full control.
Even if Kelly gets fired, the team will need both a GM and a coach. The last two drafts have been awful. As a fan its hard to tell whose fault it is. I’m sure a lot of the fault falls onKelly but some has to fall on the evaluating personnel and they will still be here. It looks like we are likely to face a few lean, horrible football years.
Its way too early to call this draft awful, Shepard hasnt played, Hicks looked great I still have hope for Nelson and Rowe…now 2013 was BAAD!
2014
2013 – we Lane Johnson, Ertz, and Logan, 3 solid NFL starters. Could see Johnson going up a level as well.
I meant to say 2014
yeah, no worries – thought you might have
what happened to pope jordan?
2014 was the real miss – Jordan Matthews appears to be the only solid player from that draft.
if even
My bad I meant 2014 but typed 2013
I don’t see Chip getting fired, but we have a perfectly fine football guy (Howie) to be the GM whenever we move on from Chip.
Just embarrassing. Rookie qb dismantled the vaunted defense.
If we’re completely honest, this defense has been overrated for much of the year. No semblance of a pass rush has really killed them lately.
That falls on Billy.
I thought they did ok, considering how long they were on the feild.
They were on the field a long time because they could not stop the Tampa offense at all. This performance by the defense was as far below “ok” as possible.
I was referring to the season over all. No damn excuse for today. Basically against a cream puff like Tampax bay, you do what you need to and get a win. Even with Sanchez. Just hand the ball off.
So disgusted right now I’m having a hard time coming up with adequate words.
Man, you guys are pretty subdued for how bad they got beat today. I guess the season has just worn us all out.
I would be surprised if Chip gets canned, even if this continues. Lurie is a stay-the-course type. Really, if you give the keys to the guy and let him do all these crazy things, you need to give it plenty of time. So far, #sportscience, #culture, #tradingorcuttingyourbest players looks bad, but the bridge/ships have already been burnt. Have to let it play out through 2016. This team is neither bad enough or good enough to fire him.
IDK – if the team ends up like 4-12 or 5-11, I could see him going. I agree he’ll be back if they end up like 7-9/8-8
He’s got at least next year, depending on the results. If it looks anything like this again he’s finished.
I agree with your assessment of Lurie. His end of the year state of the team speech will be along those lines of need to be sure we give it enough time.
But I think it more likely Chip decides he’s happier in college. Los Angeles is really nice this time of year. So is Miami.
Chip is so damn stubborn. Part of me admires him for it. He wants to do it his way. It may end up that the NFL doesn’t work out for him.
I was saving this, but if Lurie fires Chip halfway through the season, I’ll bring it out again:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt6pXTMGThA
Maybe you are right. I hope so. Maybe he will adapt. He doesn’t seem like a dumb guy. He seems adaptive. We are about to see.
I’m about to get un-subdued, but I get your point.
I’d agree that Lurie ain’t going to can Chip until after the 2016 team, no matter how long stuff continues this way this year.
Anybody want to take up for Billy Davis? His D has been putrid for far too many stretches vs. when it hasn’t been.
Yes. Other than today, the Defense has played well all season long. The defense has improved over the past 3 years. Complete opposite of our offense. Offense gets worse and worse. Had maybe 1 or 2 good games (Saints, Cowboys 2nd game) all season long.
How about the non-D vs. the rush in the Carolina game? Or the non-stop slant routes we can’t stop?
This scheme, as does any defensive scheme, has to give up some things and won’t be perfect. Look at the overall results. Defense kept us in many games, despite our offense and its turnover machine super powers.
The main thing for me – I see improvement. That is the mark of good coaching. Regression is the mark of bad coaching.
We’ll need to chat about this (a lot) again at the end of the season.
But I still see a lack of a consistent pass rush, too many missed tackles, and lapses in key situations.
Think about it this way. Put the year 1 Nick Foles offense with this defense. What do you see?
lack of pass rush, missed tackles, lapses in key situations, Mathis playing at an all-pro level, and DeSean playing at a pro-bowl level.
Yes, I completely agree. They lack an identity and physicality. That’s a direct reflection of the coaching. How many more times can we get beat by the same slant routes?
Any DC candidates you have in mind? I’d like someone from the Denver or Cardinals coaching staff.
I’d need to see who gets fired this off-season first. Could be any one of a number of guys.
We’ve been getting beat by those slants since the first game of Chip & Billy’s time here. And not a damn thing has changed.
The crazy thing about that is that our CBs should be less susceptible to that route. Being deep yes, but our bigger press corners should be less susceptible to a quick release
And our defense has excessive pressure being put on it by our pace of play (which is even worse when the offence sucks).
I think they are a pretty good unit who are well coached and improved consistently… unlike the offence.
There isn’t much to say about Sanchez except he’s a backup QB. I’m looking firmly at other parts of the team before I’m going to flame a backup QB.
Good point. Sanchez is not the problem. Is he good, no. But he is a backup. I believe Chip has lost the team already. At least with Andy Reid, the players loved him and busted their butt for him until he started bringing in the outsiders. Chip seems abrasive and so he probably is much quicker to lose players
Bill Davis sucks. End. Of. Story.
Put me in that camp. Not everybody is there with us however.
I thought he turned the corner after the first few games, but it seems teams know what he’s doing now.
Tampa’s line, outside of Mankins, is a bunch of sucky bums. How was there no pass rush on Winston today?
Interesting conversation I had with my dad about an hour before game time. He said he was really worried about the defense more than anything today. I asked why, and he simply said, “They do the same thing every week. Eventually teams are going to start beating you.”
That’ll be worth watching.
Has there been pass rush all season…or last year?
I know. Some people get still blinded by one or two good defense performances – like the one against the Giants – though our D Line play in those games made it seem that way.
Billy D may be a nice person – and I’ve been saying this since his hire – but his track record over all these years in the NFL make him what he is: a mediocre DC.
At least he admitted it.
I’m at a loss on how to assign specific levels of blame right now. There is so much wrong with this team.
What the hell is going on in this town?
Eagles – terribly under expectations
Phillies – worst team in MLB
Sixers – worst team in NBA
Flyers – horrible and they still haven’t unloaded cap clogging dead end vets
Union – putrid lack of talent
I can’t think of a single year where we’ve had our pro teams be collectively this bad.
It’s shameful. One of the top markets in the country & all 5 professional teams are at or among the very worst in their respective leagues. This city deserves so much better.
I think its debatable whether this was our worst game. The Cowboys game and last week against the Dolphins were really up there in terms of all time awfulness.
Except Tampa is less talented than either Dallas or Miami.
True, but we just sucked today. Dallas and Miami were the biggest slop fests I’ve ever seen.
I can’t argue that. The major problem is that we don’t have a decent 60 minutes all year.
I thought Diggs would be a good player but #culture#BigbodyWR
as did i, i really liked him a lot….but he didn’t go until the 5th round so a lot of teams passed
The point is I have a fantastic eye for talent. Kappa
well who doesn’t know that lol?
Justin Gilbert
Justin Gilbert
Justin Gilbert
Justin Gilbert
Justin Gilbert
Tobin TobinTobin
Tobins an adequate starter.
Gilbert is the Marcus SMith of CBs.
I know people are going to get beat and the line has several times throughout the weeks but I feel loke Tobin, especially early, was a turnstyle. The team is a mess again anyway. Gilbert was an early evaluation experience. I honestly havent followed him at all.
The loss is even worse because we had to lose to Winstons stupid looking face.
the most embarrassing part of todays debacle was the opening drive of the 3rd quarter…..how many penalties did the Bucs have? it was like they were actively trying to stall their own drive, but as we already know 3rd and 20 is wayyyyy too tough a predicament for this defense.
These players should seriously be ashamed of themselves
I’m still much more comfortable with our D facing 3rd and 3 than 3rd and 13. How this can still be such a problem I have no idea. 3rd down is our kryptonite, even against a team like Tampa who have been pretty terrible on 3rd downs.
Billy Davis
And I’d like to thank Temple Basketball for losing as well today. How the heck are we supposed to get through the winter/spring if we don’t get all 6 Big 5 + Drexel Philly teams into the NCAA tournament?
My buddy is a St Joe’s grad. He was happy for a short time this afternoon.
The Big 5 collectively needs to stop letting so much top talent from the region leave the region.
Pay Rhule to stay.
I meant HS BB talent not playing locally.
Gotcha.
Chip says he self-scouts. I think he needs a stronger voice in the room at the coordinator spot. No one was terribly enthusiastic about Shurmur or Davis. I think CK needs some sharper guys to help game plan, or at least let him know that running the same 5-7 plays won’t work every game.
I’m rambling, but I feel like the coaching on this team is seriously lacking right now, across the board.
I actually like Shurmur quite a bit.
I think he’s finidng that having to be GM, headcoach, and OC is a bit much.
Chip’s definitely getting another year, even if they lose out. Billy D is hittin’ the road either at the end of season or midway. Prob a few defensive cod he as well. The big mystery is whether Chip has a GM-babysitter this offseason or if Lurie gives him another year of free reign.
I’m as big of a Chip guy as anyone not from Oregon and even I am starting to doubt his ways. I don’t want to believe it but yeesh, this is not a good football team.
Oh and Maxwell, good god, I might take Sconces back at this point or maybe even Nnamdi…
He is Nnamdi!! Kidding aside, you deserve a lot of credit for your honesty. And I agree that Lurie will likely do nothing.
Everyone was bad, he’s been legit up until today. Yeah the first couple games were bad, but the last 5-6 for him have been pretty good.
He’d be like at best the 3rd person I’d get mad at in the secondary.
While today was just deplorable, he has not been anywhere near legit this year, IMO. To me, to call him legit would mean that he is a good corner. Forget the fact that we paid him to be elite. I would just settle for good. He has not played good this year. Mediocre at times, terrible at others. He has not been good. Cary Williams had good games at times, and he was pilloried.
We’ll agree to disagree, but here were his stats coming into the game.

Cya Chip, thanks for dismantling a good team and turning it into garbage I hope USC finds you well.
4-12 was NOT a good team. How quickly we forget
but somehow Chip’s “magic” made it into a 10-6 team? Nope, the talent was there Chip just gave a breath of fresh air and a demeanor of firing you if you weren’t 100% with him.
team he inherited wasnt that great but he took a promising 2013 squad and made it progressively worse somehow
Worst swan song ever!
You know it’s really bad when Tommy’s not trying to paint a happy face on it..
Still a lot of hot hot takes coming in, do not think Chip should be fired. But it is getting harder too see the forest for the trees currently.
FIRE CHIP!!! BOOOOO
I have been a fan of this franchise for over 40 years. I know that I have seen a lot of crappy teams and times, but I can’t remember being so angry. I was embarrassed to be an Eagles fan today. The drive to open the 2nd half is unacceptable. Sorry to rant, it’s needed therapy
Sanshite.
