Awful

The Eagles played their worst game of the year. Tampa played their best. That’s how you get a 45-17 result.

The defense was horrible. Just horrible. Tampa had 355 yards at halftime and then went on a 9:47 drive to open the 3rd quarter. They did whatever they wanted. Very disappointing since the D had played so well this season.

The offense started great, but then stalled. Once the score got out of hand, Sanchez had no chance.

The Eagles are now 4-6.

Since getting out to a good lead last week the team has been outscored 62-20.

Ouch.

Watching a little of the post-game on Eagles.com and and they kept saying “you don’t want Sanchez to throw that much”

Then why the hell (wanted to type a stronger word there) is he on the roster? QBs are supposed to throw the ball – that’s their job! If he can’t do it consistently, show him the door!

there’s maybe 10 human beings in the world where you can put a game squarely on their shoulders and tell them to go win. If you don’t have one of those guys, you need to give a lot of help to the guy you do have. In those situations where the game situation takes away the run game, you’d better have a great line or great receivers.

I’m ready for the draft going full Sixers and rooting for losses don’t care if that makes me a “bad fan” or whatever thats what is best for us right now we are too bad to try and pretend to be competitive

  6. 6 Fufina said at 4:48 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

Kinda the same, we need a QB, a WR and 2-3 new OL, plus plenty of depth on the D + secondary starters depending on FA.

We don’t have a lot of cap for a full rebuild if we extend Thurmond/Cox, so is a lot of draft work needed.

Well if we suck out the rest of the year we will be in the mix. If we give a win to the Lions next week we can be in the No.1 draft pick chase… Chargers/Browns can both get 2 more wins.

I’m officially out on trying to make the playoffs with this garbage heap.

Time to do what we did in the final 6 games of Reid’s last season: start building for next year.

1.)I want to see Marcus Smith on the field. Let’s give him one last shot to prove himself before we officially declare him a bust and cut him in the offseason.

2.)Start giving guys like Rowe, Agholor, Burton, Reynolds, etc. more reps. Yes, they’ll make mistakes that cost the team. But unlike the veterans in front of them, they at least have the potential to improve and can benefit from the experience.

3.)Lane Johnson moves to LT permanently. I think we’ve reached the point where we can’t count on Peters going forward, and Lane should start settling in at the spot he’ll hopefully be manning for the next 10 years.

4.)Scan other teams’ practice squads for promising talent. No need to keep limited veterans like Maragos, Braman, and Ajiratutu on the roster at this point.

    Time to look forward.

AGHOLAR caught every ball I saw thrown to him all game… If they are waiting for WR to get WIDE OPEN, the NFL don’t work that way. You gotta throw it to covered WR and give them a chance to make the play

  54. 54 Ark87 said at 4:36 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

I don’t think Chip should be GM. Not because he’s especially bad at picking players, but because he needs to focus on making the team better in every other aspect. Schematically it seems like we’ve been stuck in neutral for the past 3 years (which is not good in a fast changing nfl). Seems like he’s banked everything on getting the guys he wants in here to take what he’s doing to the next level. He himself is going to really have to focus on taking his craft to the next level this off season. I don’t think he needs the distraction of being a GM.

  55. 55 JJVJack said at 4:38 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

We suck, this is what a team looks lIke when you give all your talent away. I would say I am rooting to lose out. The problem with that is Chip is still running everything. I keep saying Chip has NO concept of value. This is the result of that and His Ego is to big to see His own faults. He will not be fired after this year so I will get use to it. This is really bad.

We all made fun of Reid for his “I’ve got to do a better job” routine, but the players loved him and remained loyal to him because of it. Remember how many of them came back to salute him on his way out?

Chip’s “my way or the highway” approach will not go over well if he doesn’t win. If he throws his players under the bus over and over, it could turn into a full-scale mutiny.

  60. 60 dillinja said at 4:55 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

I think he’s a blitzer and not much else.

I called it in real time, and I’m generally not a guy who sees much in real time. That one was just that obvious. And you can see that Sanchez Kaepernicked it – he never took his eyes off of his first read, and the Bucs jumped it. But in the end – that’s Sanchez, and when your team gives up 45 points, including a 9 minute drive to start the second half, talking about your backup QB’s flaws is kind of missing the point.

My big gripe is that Sanchez got target lock and never got away from his first read, who was clearly well covered. Yes. Other than today, the Defense has played well all season long. The defense has improved over the past 3 years. Complete opposite of our offense. Offense gets worse and worse. Had maybe 1 or 2 good games (Saints, Cowboys 2nd game) all season long.

  186. 186 Media Mike said at 6:01 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

  187. 187 Dragon_Eagle said at 6:05 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

This scheme, as does any defensive scheme, has to give up some things and won’t be perfect. Look at the overall results. Defense kept us in many games, despite our offense and its turnover machine super powers.

The main thing for me – I see improvement. That is the mark of good coaching. Regression is the mark of bad coaching.

  194. 194 fran35 said at 9:19 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

  211. 211 Media Mike said at 6:36 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

Except Tampa is less talented than either Dallas or Miami.

  212. 212 SteveH said at 6:37 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

True, but we just sucked today. Dallas and Miami were the biggest slop fests I’ve ever seen.

  213. 213 Media Mike said at 6:49 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

I can’t argue that. The major problem is that we don’t have a decent 60 minutes all year.

  214. 214 Mitchell said at 6:38 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

I thought Diggs would be a good player but #culture#BigbodyWR

as did i, i really liked him a lot….but he didn’t go until the 5th round so a lot of teams passed

The point is I have a fantastic eye for talent. Kappa

    Tobins an adequate starter.

Gilbert is the Marcus SMith of CBs.

  221. 221 Mitchell said at 9:54 AM on November 23rd, 2015:

I know people are going to get beat and the line has several times throughout the weeks but I feel loke Tobin, especially early, was a turnstyle. The team is a mess again anyway. Gilbert was an early evaluation experience. I honestly havent followed him at all.

  222. 222 Mitchell said at 6:41 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

The loss is even worse because we had to lose to Winstons stupid looking face.

  223. 223 JoeBlow said at 6:47 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

the most embarrassing part of todays debacle was the opening drive of the 3rd quarter…..how many penalties did the Bucs have? it was like they were actively trying to stall their own drive, but as we already know 3rd and 20 is wayyyyy too tough a predicament for this defense.

These players should seriously be ashamed of themselves

  224. 224 Crus57 said at 7:13 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

I’m still much more comfortable with our D facing 3rd and 3 than 3rd and 13. How this can still be such a problem I have no idea. 3rd down is our kryptonite, even against a team like Tampa who have been pretty terrible on 3rd downs.

  225. 225 Media Mike said at 7:15 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

  226. 226 Media Mike said at 7:16 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

And I’d like to thank Temple Basketball for losing as well today. How the heck are we supposed to get through the winter/spring if we don’t get all 6 Big 5 + Drexel Philly teams into the NCAA tournament?

  228. 228 Media Mike said at 7:21 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

The Big 5 collectively needs to stop letting so much top talent from the region leave the region.

  229. 229 The original AG said at 7:22 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

    Pay Rhule to stay.

  230. 230 Media Mike said at 7:32 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

I meant HS BB talent not playing locally.

  231. 231 The original AG said at 7:37 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

    Gotcha.

  232. 232 The original AG said at 7:22 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

Chip says he self-scouts. I think he needs a stronger voice in the room at the coordinator spot. No one was terribly enthusiastic about Shurmur or Davis. I think CK needs some sharper guys to help game plan, or at least let him know that running the same 5-7 plays won’t work every game.

I’m rambling, but I feel like the coaching on this team is seriously lacking right now, across the board.

  233. 233 Media Mike said at 7:32 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

I actually like Shurmur quite a bit.

  234. 234 D3FB said at 6:41 AM on November 23rd, 2015:

I think he’s finidng that having to be GM, headcoach, and OC is a bit much.

  235. 235 miked718 said at 8:01 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

Chip’s definitely getting another year, even if they lose out. Billy D is hittin’ the road either at the end of season or midway. Prob a few defensive cod he as well. The big mystery is whether Chip has a GM-babysitter this offseason or if Lurie gives him another year of free reign.

I’m as big of a Chip guy as anyone not from Oregon and even I am starting to doubt his ways. I don’t want to believe it but yeesh, this is not a good football team.

  236. 236 miked718 said at 8:05 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

Oh and Maxwell, good god, I might take Sconces back at this point or maybe even Nnamdi…

  237. 237 Mr. Magee said at 8:26 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

He is Nnamdi!! Kidding aside, you deserve a lot of credit for your honesty. And I agree that Lurie will likely do nothing.

  238. 238 The original AG said at 8:30 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

Everyone was bad, he’s been legit up until today. Yeah the first couple games were bad, but the last 5-6 for him have been pretty good.

He’d be like at best the 3rd person I’d get mad at in the secondary.

  239. 239 fran35 said at 9:09 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

While today was just deplorable, he has not been anywhere near legit this year, IMO. To me, to call him legit would mean that he is a good corner. Forget the fact that we paid him to be elite. I would just settle for good. He has not played good this year. Mediocre at times, terrible at others. He has not been good. Cary Williams had good games at times, and he was pilloried.

  240. 240 The original AG said at 9:26 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

We’ll agree to disagree, but here were his stats coming into the game.

  242. 242 Buge Halls said at 8:15 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

4-12 was NOT a good team. How quickly we forget

  243. 243 Insomniac said at 8:33 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

but somehow Chip’s “magic” made it into a 10-6 team? Nope, the talent was there Chip just gave a breath of fresh air and a demeanor of firing you if you weren’t 100% with him.

  244. 244 oreofestar said at 8:18 PM on November 22nd, 2015:

team he inherited wasnt that great but he took a promising 2013 squad and made it progressively worse somehow

I have been a fan of this franchise for over 40 years. I know that I have seen a lot of crappy teams and times, but I can’t remember being so angry. I was embarrassed to be an Eagles fan today. The drive to open the 2nd half is unacceptable. Sorry to rant, it’s needed therapy
