Gameday – Shady Comes to Town

Shady vs Chip. And DeMarco. And everything else that is going on.

I feel pretty safe in saying there has never been this much drama involving the Bills and Eagles. I’m tired of all the talk and just ready for the game. I wrote my game preview for PE.com.

Now let’s talk about the inactives.

QB Thad Lewis
WR Jonathan Krause
OL Tanner Hawkinson
OL Barrett Jones
DE Brandon Bair
LB Steve Means
CB Denzel Rice

There was a report that Jordan Matthews back acted up on Saturday. He is active and supposedly his back settled down overnight. Still, that is something to watch. The Eagles don’t seem too concerned since they sat Krause and only have 4 WRs besides Matthews that are active.

There are 4 RBs and 3 TEs. I think the Eagles will attack the middle of the Buffalo defense with those backs and TEs rather than focusing on the outside.

This is a huge game for both teams. The Bills are trying to stay in the Wild Card race. The Eagles want to stay atop the NFC East. A loss hurts the Bills more so they may be a bit more desperate, but both teams need this game.

I’m curious to see how everything turns out. Lots of intrigue in this one.

    Only difference from last week I think is Ryan Mathews active and Krause inactive. Means on roster in place of Austin but Means is inactive this week as Austin was last week.

    Well lets keep that in perspective too… the Bills are 6-6, which while I’m pleased we can beat a .500 team late in the season, wouldn’t quite have me stamping my ticket to the post-season quite yet.

    Arizona next week might the one for all the marbles.

    Maxwell needs to keep his base square off the line when pressing so the WR can’t stack him to one side and force his hips to open the wrong way. Also his punch was way to high at the shoulders, it needs to be closer to the hip. Is he not being taught these things or can he just not do them?

    The most notable thing is that it’s easier for him to throw an easily catchable lofted deep ball than for Bradford. So when a guy busts a coverage badly, more likely good things happen.

    I think best bet may be to give him the transition tag in the offseason. Let other teams negotiate for us and then decide if we want to match. Teams aren’t allowed to poision pill contracts anymore so there isn’t really a downside. If another team offers more than you’re comfortable with, then you let him leave.
