The Eagles are winning. It isn’t exactly pretty, but they are winning.

Jordan Hicks made a huge play in Dallas for the 2nd straight year, picking off a pass in the end zone to keep Dallas from taking the lead late in the half. Then Carson Wentz marched the Eagles across midfield and set up Caleb Sturgis for a 55-yard FG. Perfect kick with a ton of leg. 13-10.

The Eagles have struggled with Ezekiel Elliott. He is 8-52 at halftime and has been hard to bring down. He is also 3-42 as a receiver. Right now the Cowboys are winning the battle up front. Marcus Smith has a sack and Brandon Graham has gotten pressure a few times, but there isn’t enough pressure on Dak Prescott. Fletcher Cox has been quiet.

The offense is playing a lot of small ball. Wentz is 17-21 for 107 yards. Yikes. They have got to throw the ball more aggressively. It was good to see the Eagles start to run the ball in the 2nd Qtr. That is encouraging.

This has been somewhat of a sloppy game and I think that favors the Eagles. Dallas has played with a comfortable lead for much of the year. The Eagles played in tough games the past 3 weeks. It is also encouraging that Dallas has been so good in the 1st half and the Eagles have been a big 3rd Qtr team. The Eagles get the ball to start the 3rd. If they could go score a TD, that would give Dallas their first real deficit in a while and it would be interesting to see how they would respond.

Lead or no lead, the Eagles must play better in the 2nd half if they want to win this game.

    He’s had a number of illegal hits not flagged this season, love him or hate him, he has taken some hits this season that he shouldn’t have had to.

    Bradford would have been on IR week 1 if he had played againt against Denver that night

    The difference in this game was the supporting casts. Prescott is not as good a quarterback as Wentz is. But his receivers are better, his backs are better, and his line is better. Elliott makes big plays while Smallwood fumbles the game away. Agholor and Matthews drop potential touchdowns while Bryant makes a contested catch for the tying TD. Etc. If we get even one big play from a skill guy, we win the game.

    GM Chip’a moves absolutely devastated the offensive talent base of this team. Roseman’s number one priority now has to be putting the pieces around Wentz to succeed. We’ve got the franchise QB which is the hardest part. Let’s not make the same mistake we did with McNabb and waste the first five years of his career trying to win with him throwing to trash receivers.

    Indeed. The thing is, I continue to look and Dak himself and think “meh”. He’s better than anyone expected him to be coming into the league and I think he’ll start for a long time. But I see a guy who’s more in the Andy Dalton/Alex Smith class than a true franchise changer. Without the top weapons he has I think he struggles.

    It’s an interesting question – would you rather be the Eagles and have a potential top 5 talent at QB, or the Cowboys and have great players at every offensive position EXCEPT QB? Short-term, I’d take the Cowboys’ roster – I think they will go farther this season. But long term I’d rather be in the Eagles’ boat. History has shown it is really hard to win with a good-but-not-great QB.

There’s an argument to be made there, but I think it would have been disastrous for us, whereas for Dallas it worked. They had more supporting pieces on offense than we did, so that’s why things worked out for them, and why it would have been disaster for us.

    We made the right call, though whether empirically or not I can’t really say. But for us, yes, the right call.

    I have to say, the pass behind the line of scrimmage was a decision. The play call left it out there, but the decision to lose the yards was his. I know we’re all blaming Doug on this one, but Carson has to take some of the blame. He made the decision to throw in the face of that.

    Part of the issue with that play that isn’t being mentioned is that there wasn’t a clean snap. I’d have to watch play over again (oh hell no…) but I would guess the fumble threw off some of the timing of the play. If the ball gets to Sproles earlier, he can cut inside and allow Kelce to get out there to put a block on Lee.
