What an ugly 1st half of football.

WAS is outgaining the Eagles 285 to 42. They’ve got the run game going and Kirk Cousins continues to play well against the Birds.

The Eagles got on the board with a KOR and an INT return for a score. Those were huge plays that have helped keep the game within range. The Eagles offense has really struggled. Big V has been awful at RT. Making matters worse, the rest of the OL has been very up and down. Those guys needed to play well to help provide stability for Vaitai. Instead, it’s been gas on the fire.

Should the Eagles make a change at RT? That’s got to be a real possibility. Jeff Stoutland and Doug Pederson will certainly discuss it. The defense has been a mess today so the offense needs top score points. The coaches better believe they can get the OL straightened out or they need to make the change.

This is still a very winnable game, but the Eagles must quit making mistakes. They have been their own worst enemy today, just like last week.

This is basically Ryan Kerrigan destroying the Eagles’ drives and making the TOP completely one-sided. I’m happy they’re still in the game. They need to gameplan around the Vaitai/Kerrigan matchup because it’s killing them.

Well Vaitai can pull the ‘What the Hell is that’ on at least one play. Maybe give a Samoan battle cry on another. That covers them on at least 2 plays.

He is this year’s version of Kirkland without the girth and a bit more range.

This game wasn’t even as close as the 27-20 score. The only ‘silver lining’ is that Wentz played as well as he did.
Skins’ roster doesn’t necessarily have that much more talent than the Eagles but they are certainly a lot deeper especially at the offensive skill positions & it showed today.

The defense is getting worked over these past two games. Sloppy and undisciplined. Not getting pressure either. Stupid penalties. Not getting stops on multiple 3rd and longs.

Obviously not happy about today’s result, but not going to overreact too much. This is not the 12-4 team some people thought it was after week 3, but it’s not a 3-13 team either. It’s a young team with some serious holes but which has a difference making talent at QB. That’s what I was hoping for going into the year and through 5 weeks my hopes have been born out. I don’t expect them to compete for a SB – I’d have been very happy with 9-7 and a terrific rookie year from Wentz at the end of the preseason and both those goals are still very reachable.

Was watching him specifically and he actually played a bit better in the second half. They did give him help with chips and double teams at times but there were also plays on which he had to single block Kerrigan and he did an okay job. Would’ve been hard for him to be worse, but at least he didn’t totally fall apart Winston Justice-style.

The media will pile on Pederson and Vaitai this week with some good reasons though. Actually thought he did ‘ok’ vs Kerrigan on a few plays in the 2nd half but he was getting beat like a drum in the first half & I couldn’t remember a play where he should Kerrigan up and held his ground.
Getting pushed back every play by a veteran who wasn’t doing anything that fancy.

The last series he had to block Kerrigan one-on-one on one of the plays Wentz got sacked and totally stoned him. He was the only guy able to hold his block on the play. Not sending him to Canton yet but it’s a start.

Just laid an egg today. Still didn’t think the coverage was that bad today although the secondary tackling wasn’t great & they had some really inopportune penalties at times.

Cox is the only elite frontline player and he is a DT. Graham and Curry are both solid but they are more complementary players. A truly disruptive edge rusher would help them take the next step. As would a CB who’s even above average.

Really disliked the extension Curry got this offseason and said as much as the time. He strikes me as a one-trick pony who frankly goes too long in between showing it & has games like today where he is next to useless.

OL will get piled on because it will be the trendy thing to do tonight & tomorrow but this DL flat out stunk.
They doubled Cox a lot and were able to manhandle the rest of line all day. Schwartz doesn’t like to blitz, Skins have been very effective against it, and Cousins had all day to throw no most passing plays.
Schwartz seemed like he brought a bit more pressure in the 2nd half with slightly better results but run defense & tackling were fairly atrocious all game.
For a team that has invested so much in their DL, they certainly haven’t gotten the commensurate returns the last 2 games & Curry is the single most overrated player on this team. He stunk today.

Agree with Didinger. As bad as the Eagles played today, they were still hanging around with a chance to win at the end.
Skins really aren’t that much better either. I just think they have a deeper roster right now than the Eagles and a coach who is able to maximize what talent he does have on offense.
Troubling thing is that their schedule does get notably tougher from here on out and they are going to play better teams the next month with the exception of the Giants.

Why I was so bummed they lost the Lions’ game last week. They didn’t play well today but still get the Skins at home later this year.
