Gameday at WAS

Posted: September 10th, 2017 | Author: | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 821 Comments »

Kickoff is fast approaching. Are you starting to get a little excited?

Here is the inactive list for today.

I was curious if they would go with LB Joe Walker or DE Steven Means. Obviously they went with the LB. Walker will make his NFL debut.

I also wondered about Jaylen Watkins vs Dexter McDougle. Watkins is more versatile and knows the scheme. That combination probably got him the nod. We’ll see if McDougle gets to play in a week or two.

It is nice when your team is healthy and the coaches have tough choices to make.

*****

The Skins have owned the Eagles recently, but I feel pretty good about today. The Eagles are better on the OL and DL and with their skill players. I don’t know that WAS is improved.

The last two times the Eagles played the Skins in the season opener (1996 & 2013), the good guys won. Let’s hope that trend continues.

Let’s also hope this is a fun season.

Here we go…

  • Koy: The Legend of Neckbeard

    Rasul ftw

  • meteorologist

The Eagles coverage right now is beyond oversaturated between Tommy, Kempski, McManus, and now Sheil Kapadia again. I can’t consume it all! It’s a golden age

But right here is still my home base

  • SteveH

This is about the time the testosterone and adrenaline starts to kick in. 5 minutes before kickoff I’m ready to run through a fucking wall.

Obviously this is the first step on our path to superbowl victory. GO BIRDS.

    • daveH

Ha!! Me too ..yelling at the wife. .your comment very therapeutic

  • SteveH
  • Gary Barnes

    GO EAGLES!!

    • TO BLACKS

      GO WHERE?

  • Gary Barnes

One thing I always look for in the first game is our team fitness and the ability of players to play 4 quarters when they’ve gone through a TC and pre-season that actively works against getting many reps.

Unfortunately, that can lead to injuries in the first game as we saw again in the KC – NE opener. I expect erratic execution on the offensive side especially in this first game as well for the same reason: very few reps together in game action.

    • TO BLACKS

You are a dumbass fantasy dickheaded FAGGOT.

  • Gary Barnes

Kenny Albert and Tiki Barber as the Fox announcers, horrible.

    • Sean Stott

They’re not that offensive. They’re just not that great either.

    • meteorologist

      Yeah not ideal…

    • Sean Stott

Fwiw Fox is carrying this game in the OC / LA markets. They are a ‘featured’ duo now!

    • meteorologist

May have to try the “turn down the tv turn up the radio” thing

    • TO BLACKS

They both suck, that’s why I listen to WIP

  • Sean Stott

We need more Means! He should be in.

  • scratcherk

Special teams has woken up!! WOOT

  • Ark87

Time to find out how my week is going to be. Beyond wins and losses, hope the team shows up. If Philly goes out that an drops a deuce, I’m going to be miserable.

  • scratcherk

    Atta boy D

  • Sean Stott

    No

  • shah8

Hey guys, back to watch with you all.

    So far, defense looks improved.

  • Ryan Rambo

Way to get off the field on 3rd and long guys!!

    • FairOaks

1 out of 2, anyways. They gave up the first 3rd and 11. Of course that second one should have been a gimme interception for Bradham, but overall just one positive play given up out of six. One may have been more to the receiver losing the ball, but overall a lot of good.

      • Ryan Rambo

I’m keeping it positive. I don’t expect them to win every 3rd down situation. Just don’t be a seive out there!!

  • Gary Barnes

How did Bradham drop that?? Wow, that was like throwing a punch at a cabana boy and missing completely

  • SteveH

    CATCH THAT BRADHAM!

  • Ark87

    Hope cousins continues to suck

  • SteveH

Grizzle with the awesome run D already, 2 stops for him behind the line.

  • SeanofDead

Good lookin start for the D!!!!!

  • Gary Barnes

Both teams go for deep bombs on first play, lol

  • SeanofDead

    underthrown…

  • Gary Barnes

    Poor throw by Wentz

  • shah8

Damn, that pass was too short, man,

  • scratcherk

    Run the ball Andy

  • Gary Barnes

    Throw it away, Wentz! C’mon!

  • shah8

And an even worse sack! Jesus! Is the season over already?!!!

    • FairOaks

      No.

    • scratcherk

      overreact much?

  • scratcherk

    O M G

  • FairOaks

    well now.

  • Gary Barnes

LOL, Wentz incredible play for a TD!! Hahahahaha

  • scratcherk

    NELSON FUCKIN AGHOLAR

  • SteveH

    QWERWEGHZNEWQWENZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTYTRZZZZZZZZ

  • SeanofDead

Just like we drew it up!!!!

  • Insomniac

    Aghs????

  • shah8

Wow, like that Winston play. Horrible play at first!

  • SteveH

    YUHHHHHHHH BOI

  • Sean Stott

    WTF

    • meteorologist

      Couldn’t put it better myself

  • Ryan Rambo

That play gave me the goosebumps and I also need to change my drawz!! Be right back!!! #Carson2Nelson

  • Sean Stott

    That was epic

  • Ark87

Wait he caught it AND shrugs off a tackle

  • Gary Barnes

    Cousins inaccurate so far

  • SeanofDead

Skins already feeling the loss of Cravens..?…

  • Gary Barnes

    Its a FUMBLE!!

  • Gary Barnes

    Hicks recovers, nice!

  • Gary Barnes

    Cox with the strip

  • shah8

    Cousins has been awful.

    • shah8

That means we get more ball!

  • Gary Barnes

HATE that quick out to the sideline play, just awful

    • FairOaks

Many years of trying, hard to remember even one significant gain on that play. Started with Quick Out To Pinkston, I think, and has never stopped since. Even though we’ve never had anyone that can actually do it.

      • Gary Barnes

Exactly, when will the learning process come into play?

  • Sean Stott

This crew is like watching a WAS preseason team casted game

  • scratcherk

    WHAT WHATTTTT

  • shah8

    Bad screen effort, in all.

  • shah8

Bad referees stopping plays for no good reason.

  • Insomniac

    Refs in preseason form still.

  • shah8

now, the run blocking was great there!

  • Gary Barnes

Have we done one running play yet? lol

    • ConcussedFB

      1, less I missed one

  • Gary Barnes

    Nice! FIRST DOWN

  • Checkdown Charlie

    Way to go Ags

  • shah8

Aghelor is really playing with confidence that we didn’t see last year!

  • Insomniac

I don’t know what to say. Ags is HANDS catching and not that body catching BS.

  • FairOaks

Torrey Smith THAT WAS A LIVE BALL

  • SteveH

    WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • shah8

So far, the passing offense is still baby-qb level…

  • Gary Barnes

BRUTAL play, wow really poor execution and play call there

  • SeanofDead

FUcking stupid….and Smith standing there like an asshole

  • SteveH

    WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • Checkdown Charlie

    That sucked

  • meteorologist

No one gonna point out how TORREY SMITH JUST STOOD THERE AND WATCHED THE BALL

  • shah8

Oh my god, watching the replay, inexcusably inaccurate throw!

  • Insomniac

    You’re a fricking vet, that’s inexcusable.

  • Ark87

Smith nOT diving on that ball…

  • FairOaks

Hard to know what that play call is. Was it supposed to be a backwards pass? Terrible execution either way.

  • ACViking

Dreadful play design (with WR behind QB).

Compounded by Wentz’s (seemingly continued) problem throwing laterally

    • SteveH

Compounded further by smith not jumping on the ball. 3 fails on 1 play, impressive.

    • anon

he’s much better scrambling and then throwing downfield

  • Ark87

    That was brutal

  • scratcherk

    Pryor terrible drop, holding anyway

  • Checkdown Charlie

    Whew

  • SteveH

Graham drew the holding play. Dude is a wrecking ball.

  • shah8

Thankfully, desean Jackson is gone, there!

  • Gary Barnes

    Good tackle, Rodney!

  • SteveH

Cousins not sliding, interesting, what does he have to prove? Save your body Kirk!

  • meteorologist

    Curry on the ground alert

  • shah8

    McLeod had a great tackle.

  • SeanofDead

    Nice blitz Schwartzie

  • SteveH

Good hold D, don’t give up points after a dreadful turnover.

  • FairOaks

Sell out blitz, interesting, and it worked.

    • shah8

Yeah, this has been interesting. Typically, the best thing to do with the likes of Cousins and Dalton is to be conservative about the pass rush and force these guys to actually think and process.

      • FairOaks

Pryor looks like a bad matchup for us. As fast as Darby and way bigger. At least he’s got 2016 Agholor hands.

  • Gary Barnes

Schwartz with a JJ classic overload blitz

  • Checkdown Charlie

Now, make up for that sh_t Wentz and Smith

  • shah8

Cousins has been awful. Watches his payday draining away…

    • SteveH

Nah man if Osweiler can get that kind of $$$ Cousins is gonna get PAID.

  • SteveH

Additionally on the fail fumble, even if Agholor caught that he was about to get blown up for like a 5 yard loss… Just a real headscratcher after we started so well.

    • meteorologist

Because Torrey Smith blew his block

    • FairOaks

Smith missed his assigned block badly.

May have been a halfback pass type of play (well may be WR pass), or … not sure what else it could have been. Awful throw, awful blocking, awful awareness. Likely was an awful play call too.

    • Ark87

Was on the verge of being blown up because Smith put as much into his blocking assignment as he does into his fumble recovery. Tear that one out of the playbook. Don’t ever put Smith at the point of attack. No laterals

  • meteorologist

Was wondering who 41 with dreads is flying around looking fast… forgot Darby changed his number. Wasn’t expecting it to be him

  • daveH

Just turned the game on .. taped .. just saw the unbelievable …

    • SteveH

haha, yeah that will blow your mind.

  • scratcherk

hate when i see blount run the stretch

    • SteveH

I dont mind when he gains 5 on first down though.

    • Insomniac

Shades of Demarco Murray and Chip.

  • scratcherk

    that i like

  • SteveH

Damn, our run game is still struggling…

  • scratcherk

shotgun run on third and one… sigh

  • Checkdown Charlie

    Oy Vey

  • Someguy77

    F@cking terrible call

  • Crus57

Key so far is anytime Vaitai is in the play is going to go badly somehow.

  • scratcherk

    eagles ball

  • ACViking

HATE SHORT-YARDAGE PLAYS OUT OF THE SHOTGUN!!!

Chip Kelly ruined football with that.

    • BobSmith77

      Doubly foolish with Blount.

  • SteveH

    YEAH FUCK CROWDER!

  • scratcherk

    thank you fipp

  • meteorologist

Sun must be bright? Ppl dropping balls like crazy

  • SeanofDead

Absolutely must convert this into points

  • Someguy77

Skins have executing poorly across the board. Eagles need to take advantage.

  • meteorologist

    What a throw by Wentz

  • scratcherk

    terrible block by blount

  • SteveH

Jesus Christ Wentz is like coated in Vaseline or something.

  • scratcherk

    there we go

  • ACViking

Wentz putting up highlight plays . . .

    But where’s the O-line?

    • Insomniac

Blount whiffed on his block. The OL did enough on that play.

    • BobSmith77

Pressure from everywhere even when Skins are sending just 4

  • wallacemnw

    where is Alshon?

  • meteorologist

    Yessss feed Ertzz

  • scratcherk

    march boys

  • SeanofDead

    Carson “The Contortionist” Wentz

  • Checkdown Charlie

    Good pocket

  • scratcherk

    lets run it in

  • shah8

    Redskins are on their heels…

    • BobSmith77

Need to put up 7 here to do that

      • shah8

yup, so get it when they soft.

  • meteorologist

Any throw to Ertz is automatically a high percentage throw

  • FairOaks

Blount is definitely way better at getting those 2-3 yards after contact.

    • Insomniac

Dude is a monster if he gets a full head of steam.

    • meteorologist

Knows how to fall forward for sure

  • ACViking

    Pound. The. Ball.

  • SeanofDead

Jeffrey’s first catch as an eagle coming right here

  • scratcherk

good throw would have been td

  • shah8

    accurate pass is a td

  • meteorologist

Wentz is awful at those flat throws. Nice catch by Ags

    • BobSmith77

No touch or feel like McNabb early in his career.

  • scratcherk

    punch it in

  • scratcherk

    dont get clever

  • BobSmith77

    More awful play calling.

  • scratcherk

    one. yard. line.

  • Spooonius

Please just try to pound it in.

  • scratcherk

    hold offense

  • scratcherk

    UYAUAUAUAUAUAU

  • Checkdown Charlie

    TD

  • scratcherk

    YAYAYAYAY NICEEEE

  • SteveH

thought for sure that was OPI lol

  • FairOaks

    oh wow, offside defense! declined!

Blount scored, but … not exactly pounding it in. But we scored.

  • Spooonius

I thought it was a hold on Celek!!

  • SteveH

ahh fuck sturgis. Way to harsh our buzz.

  • BobSmith77

Didn’t like the call but it worked. 2 times from within the 1 and two passes.

Why did they sign Blount again?

  • shah8

Washington should melt down from there.

I thought the previous pass was a grounding!

  • shah8

    awww, mannnn….

  • Crus57

For a big guy Blount pulled a nice move there to dodge their LB

    • meteorologist

      Has very nimble feet

    • Insomniac

He’s very agile for his size.

  • Insomniac

    Sturgis please.

  • meteorologist

    :O kendricks sighting

    • FairOaks

No helmet to helmet either. Really solid tackle.

  • ACViking

Never understood why Blount (1) was undrafted [other than punching out opposing player, and (2) why he’s played for 5 teams

    • BobSmith77

Dirtbag who had a lot of off-field issues and in the locker room

    • Insomniac

He had baggage since college. I’m not quite sure if he got into trouble in tn the NFL. Blount is a 2 down RB, those guys are getting phased out despite Blount being one of the better 2 down guys.

  • scratcherk

    kendricks laying the lumber

  • Ark87

Can’t complain about the results, but was a bit too cute for my tastes. Can see why we got rid of Jmatt, Aghs seems like the offense is built around him

    • anon

whoever found his hands should get a bonus

  • scratcherk

Jay Gruden found a treadmill this offseason

  • SteveH

Ahhhhhh shittttt Darby down. Just what we need.

  • scratcherk

    fuck noncontact injury to darby

    • FairOaks

Holding his foot, so maybe not a knee

  • Ryan Rambo

    Damn. Darby

  • scratcherk

    looks like achilles…

    • meteorologist

Not to me that’s more towards the back of the foot

  • meteorologist

    Geez dislocated ankle??

  • shah8

Cousins is free to catch those tackles! He’s entitled to a first down or two!

  • ACViking

    Darby’s done for the year.

    Exploding ACL

    • Spooonius

      Looks like his ankle dislocated

      • ACViking

        YES!!!

        See that now.

        • SteveH

          Hooray for dislocated ankle! lol

          • Spooonius

It also looked like they were having difficulty putting it back. Might be a break which means he’d still be done

          • BobSmith77

Still a severe injury and can have a lot of soft tissue damage too.

  • CTbirdsguy

his ankle looks broken as f***

  • SteveH

    His ankle. It looks bad.

  • Insomniac

    Noooooooooooooooooo

  • truehaynes

Gotta hope for just a dislocated ank

    • Ark87

      He rolled it good

  • BobSmith77

Rolled right ankle and getting carted off the field. At the best, he has a moderate sprain.

Imagine Darby is gone for at least 2 weeks

    • truehaynes

Ankle was broken or dislocated looking at the video

  • ACViking

    Well . . . Darby’s not quite Randall Cunningham.

But it’s about that time of the opening day game to lose him (as Cunningham was lost against GB in ’91)

  • BobSmith77

If that is discolated ankle, it is surgery and done for the year.

Hope a moderate sprain and out 4-6 weeks

  • shah8

So big trade isn’t going to pay off as much….

Scoreboard watching, looks like Tom Savage is having a terrible game.

  • scratcherk

Hope Rasul can get good quick, fuck robinson in,….

    • FairOaks

      Rasul and Dexter both inactive.

      • scratcherk

        i mean for following weeks

  • CrackSammich
  • meteorologist

This is a HUGE deal for our season. We gave up a 3rd round pick for him because we recognized our massive hole at CB. Rasul Douglas isn’t even active which doesn’t speak well for his development. This. is. very bad

    • scratcherk

Was still the right move. Injuries are unfortunate.

      • meteorologist

Absolutely the right move. I just think our upside as a team is limited this season now

    • Insomniac

It’s not even the 3rd round pick that hurts. Darby going down hurts the entire process. He can’t develop as a player, Howie can’t evaluate if he’s worth resigning, and it hurts our defense a shit ton.

      • FairOaks

We have two years on the re-sign part, though obviously we may not be able to do it next off-season, where we had the leverage of another year on the contract.

      • meteorologist

Yeah! Just saying we gave up a third as a measure of how desperate we were/ how well we thought of him

  • anon

Damn, watching them trying to put that ankle back – no good.

  • SeanofDead

Dangnabit…they are gonna test the corners big time..Need Dline to step up

  • shah8

no confidence in Cousins so far… Even with crippled Eagles backfield?

  • meteorologist

Without Darby our ceiling for this season isn’t much better than last year imo. 9-7 is a good guess imo

  • scratcherk

    Alshon appearance

  • Ark87

That was gentlemanly of the Skins. Lost our only good corner, they immediately run twice

  • scratcherk

maybe he thinks ags is taller than he is

  • BobSmith77

Wentz has made some nice plays but had several bad accuracy misfires too

  • scratcherk

    fuck…

  • T_S_O_P

    Wtf

  • BobSmith77

    sigh.

  • scratcherk

    tip?>

  • FairOaks

That was a rather unfortunate tipped pass.

  • shah8

    WAT DA FUUUUUUURRRRRRKkk!!?

  • scratcherk

hit carson in the helmet, woulda have been a penalty if it was peyton

  • ACViking

    Wentz . . . reverting to form?

Boy, didn’t have a good foundation on either throw that series

    • BobSmith77

Got happy feet and feeling the pressure. This OL has stunk in pass protection today so far.

    • FairOaks

It was tipped, so did not go where Wentz threw it. Maybe on Wentz to make sure he doesn’t get tipped at that spot on the field. Or maybe should have called more runs.

      • Insomniac

I still think it might have been the same result. Kerrigan could have still read him like a book and picked it off. Bad read and even worse throw.

        • Spooonius

It looked like that to me too. It was well covered

          • Insomniac

            Yea it really did.

        • FairOaks

Could have had more on it, and gotten out there much faster. A typical overthrow would have just been OB. Wentz doesn’t seem like he makes the ill-advised throw as much.

          • Insomniac

It was to Sproles and Kerrigan is most likely going to break it up or pick it off just due to the size advantage alone.

      • Ark87

I second the more running bit

        • BobSmith77

Isn’t going to happen with this offense. Going to a 60/40 mix

    • T_S_O_P

If we could mix Donnie’s worm killers with Wentz’s air balls, we’d have a consistently good delivery.

    • meteorologist

Didn’t notice but I’ll keep an eye out!

  • shah8

Carson Wentz’ inaccuracy is just completely unacceptable. He’s not Jameis Winston where he’s good enough to be functional despite being inaccurate.

    • SteveH

You should probably write him a sternly worded letter.

      • ACViking

        Comment of the day

      • shah8

I’ll leave it to his coaches.

  • BobSmith77

Doesn’t seem to matter who is matched up against Kerrigan. Just seems to have a good game with a big play or two.

  • Ryan Rambo

    Run the EFFING ball!!!

  • Spooonius

i feel like Smallwood is gonna break one soon

    • Ryan Rambo

      One of his legs?

      • Spooonius

        Ha! Hopefully not today

        • Ryan Rambo

Definitely not. I’ll take a long TD!

      • Spooonius

Either way, I stand by my comment.

        • Ryan Rambo

          Lol

  • daveH

Watching on tape .. Danby ankle looks horrible. . Thus sport slaughters peeps

    • Spooonius

      Yup

  • T_S_O_P

Top class officiating, we have a prime minister here in Blighty that changes her mind in a very similar way.

  • ACViking

    Interview with Dean Blandino . . .

I’ve been waiting since February for that.

  • Insomniac

Blandino has such a punch-able face.

  • Ryan Rambo

    Gonna start drinking.

  • meteorologist

This ref really has a beef with Wentz! He got in his face earlier now he’s saying forward progress stopped?!!!

    • Spooonius

I didn’t know they still called that

  • ACViking

Is Lane better when he takes “vitamins”?

  • scratcherk

    accurate screen pass, thank you

  • T_S_O_P

    Lovely downfield B from Kelce

  • scratcherk

need a better block from smallwood there

  • Insomniac

Sproles still quick as hell. Nothing like that Pumphrey guy.

  • Checkdown Charlie

    Give Johnson some Roids

  • shah8

Man, this game is making me not so optimistic about the season. Except that there looks to be a lot of terrible teams this year. Looking at the scoreboard, who’d want to watch Ravens-Bengals, or Jags-Texans?

    • BobSmith77

It’s Week 1. It will take at least 6-7 weeks to a feel for how this offense will gel.

      • ChoTime

Don’t think it works that way. These early games often show flaws that will be here all year.

  • SteveH

Man… I still feel like a win today, but that Darby injury has really bummed me out… First half of the first game, goddamn.

  • Insomniac

Oof Brooks getting pancaked by Zach Brown.

    • meteorologist

He’s a pro bowl linebacker.. who I didn’t know was a pro bowler nor that he was on the Redskins till today…

      • Insomniac

Brooks is like 330+ pounds. Brown is like a 250 pound LB.

    • teltschikfakeout88

That was pathetic….the skins DL is not that good…but yet we are struggling in key situations where we should have an advantage….peters is playing like he’s old and Johnson is struggling with Kerrigan

  • BobSmith77

OL has been incredibly underwhelming so far. Wentz has made a few poor throws but no one on the line is playing well

    • SteveH

Yeah the line still feels like it’s coming together… Or coming apart, who knows.

      • Insomniac

Maybe both at the same time.

  • scratcherk

surprised sproles wasnt in on the third down, hes the best pass blocker and catcher back

  • scratcherk

    IG?????

  • scratcherk

    WTF REF?

  • wee2424

Hey guys I’m in the middle of Irma n S. FL. Can someone tell me score and how it’s going briefly, especially how Wentz looks? I know we lost Darby. Cannot get another Ste to load. Plzzzzzz. I’m having more anxiety over this then the giant Hurricane. That last statement is dead serious.

    • scratcherk

      keep safe man

    • scratcherk

      score 13-7

    • BobSmith77

It’s a game. Stay safe and hope are you and yours are doing ok

    • scratcherk

Wentz looks OK, needs more time to throw. Few high throws. Defense playing well. Refs picking up where they left off…

    • Insomniac

Stay safe man. Darby might be done for the year. Wentz looks about the same. OL looks very underwhelming. Blount is as advertised. Smallwood looks like a JAG. Alshon getting locked down by Norman. Agholor looks way better than Matthews.

      • wee2424

Thank you. If they put a 19 inch tube TV in the middle of the canal next to me I would swim to watch it.

      • wee2424

How does Peters look? Seumalo showing promise?

        • Insomniac

I would say the left side has been holding up a bit better than the right side of the OL. Our RBs have been struggling with pass blocking so it’s making Peters and Seumalo look bad. Although they are having their struggles too.

    • FairOaks

Wentz looks good except on short throws. Defense playing pretty well. Two turnovers each team, so some sloppiness. Each team a TD off a turnover. 13-7 Eagles (missed extra point). Other TD was a Wentz scramble then finding an open Agholor for a 58 yard TD.

      • wee2424

I know Wentz fumbled once. The other a pick?

        • FairOaks

First was a Wentz overthow of a …screen? lateral? which was not well blocked and Eagles stood around while the ball was live. Second was a tipped pass pick-six.

Redskins just scored on a pass with four missed tackles, 14-13.

  • scratcherk

    ARE U FUCKING KIDDING

  • FairOaks

#20 is in the area!?!?! oh please

    • SteveH

      That’s an Eli.

  • BobSmith77

Eagles DL though is playing very well early on

  • ACViking

Mills has been targeted on nearly every Washington pass.

    • Insomniac

      Just like last year!

    • BobSmith77

Noticed that too. I would too. He’s too slow to play outside and players don’t get faster in the offseason.

    • SteveH

With Darby out it’s going to get worse, soon Robinson will be targeted.

  • SteveH

Rasul Douglas, your NFL debut is going to come sooner than expected.

    • ACViking

      I sure hope it’s not Dexter McDougle . . .

I mean, he wasn’t good enough for the Jets to keep him.
(Speaking of which, is his 1-year extension a phantom w/ no cost if cut?)

      • FairOaks

Maybe he was too good for the Jets to keep him. We can hope.

      • Ryan Rambo

Darby wasn’t going to remain a Bill either. If he was, he def wasn’t going to be starting.

    • scratcherk

havent seen any update on teh injury yet, anyone see anything?

    • meteorologist

I mean I was expecting him to play today..

  • SteveH

We tip it, first down them. They tip it, defensive TD.

    • Insomniac

Seems about right, we’re sort of always on the losing end when it comes to luck.

  • meteorologist

    Well…

  • scratcherk

darby please just take one of patrick robinsons ankles and come back

  • Spooonius

    Halftime please.

    • scratcherk

      score first hopefully

  • teltschikfakeout88

    Pathetic tackling

  • shah8

and now we’re losing this game, when we should have been blowing them out.

    • anon

      carson giveth and taketh away

      • ChoTime

was he playing well before? I got here and it was 13-0 and it’s been shit since

        • anon

          couple of nice plays, yup

        • Insomniac

He looks good while extending plays. Under center with a clean pocket he looks about the same.

  • SteveH

Anddd that missed XP starts looming large.

  • Insomniac

    Andddd we’re losing.

  • TO BLACKS

THE EAGLES BLOW N GGER DICK

  • T_S_O_P

Bollocks, just had to get my son

  • ChoTime

Wow, I hate when other players look like Superman against us.

  • xeynon

This is a very frustrating first half. We should be up by two TDs. Shaky offensive line play is killing us.

  • Spooonius

It’s obviously Darby’s injury that let Washington back in this.

  • Insomniac

    Oh god

  • Spooonius

My god these underthrows are frustrating. At least he’s consistent.

    • anon

he also has a lot of overthrows

      • Spooonius

        Consistently inconsistent.

  • Insomniac

I’m hoping it’s just rust but that was under thrown.

  • xeynon

Lane Johnson did not look like a $10 million dollar offensive lineman there.

  • meteorologist

Can we get a Jeffery sighting? Please?

    • meteorologist

      Oh

    • FairOaks

He just forced it to him when Agholor was wide open.

      • meteorologist

        Yikes

  • SteveH

lol, ok Tiki Barber who considers our OL the best in football?

    • scratcherk

      our OL

      • SteveH

Lane needs to figure out how to sneak his roids past the screening because he hasn’t been good at all lately.

    • xeynon

Supposedly Pro Football Focus ranked them right up there. Which shows you what PFF grades are worth.

    • meteorologist

      “Tiki barber” lol

    • T_S_O_P

      The Giants? 😉

  • ChoTime

does every wentz pass have a Was fingertip on it at some point?

  • shah8

At least in this drive, I think Wentz is only really having one read!

  • SteveH

anyone trust Sturgis to hit this end of the half FG?

    • Insomniac

      Not really.

  • scratcherk

Our first JP injury of hte year

    • Spooonius

We should have done an over under

      • scratcherk

        over

    • BobSmith77

Not a surprising injury for a heavy guy with a bad back.

    • xeynon

I’m not thrilled about the idea of Big V as left tackle.

  • SteveH

wooo, first Darby now Peters, first game is great.

    • meteorologist

      Catestrophic

  • BobSmith77

Peters strained groin and out for the game.

  • ACViking

One thing Chip Kelly did great . . .
Getting Eagles — and all NFL — to get to the O-line f-a-s-t in the 2-minute drill

    • BobSmith77

This looks like a Reid 2-minute drill and last year they struggled with it too.

  • xeynon

At least Agholor-as-dependable-slot-receiver looks like it might be a real thing.

    • SteveH

Yeah, this is already his career game.

      • xeynon

I’m as impressed by the tough catches in traffic as I am by the TD.

  • Insomniac

The next thing that we didn’t need is Vaitai playing RT. I feel like turning the game off now.

    • meteorologist

Think vaitai may go to LT

      • Insomniac

Don’t you put that voodoo on us.

  • meteorologist

Ertz having another sneaky monster game feels like

  • scratcherk

    Money Sturgis

    • Spooonius

      Wow. Did not expect that!

    • Crus57

      Sturgical precision.

  • shah8

Think that last almost int is on Jeffrey.

    • xeynon

Wasn’t a smart decision to throw it. He was pretty well covered.

      • shah8

nah, he was supposed to throw it there. Jeffrey was supposed to win it. Jeffrey failed to highpoint the catch, and wound up having to wrestle the ball away.

      • FairOaks

I think a jump ball with Jeffery is an OK throw to make. Jeffery did fight to prevent the interception, unlike last years’ WRs. Worth a gamble to me, and still had time for the FG.

        • xeynon

An INT there is a killer and there were two guys in position to make the play if it’s even slightly underthrown. On a 40 yard throw I’m not crazy about that.

          • FairOaks

It was 50-yard chance for a FG, hardly a gimme. And a TD would have been huge. We haven’t had someone like Jeffery who can win jump balls; I don’t mind trying it out. And Jeffery is better at defending the interception than we have had in the past as well (which was close there, to be sure). Have to take some risks, and thought that was a reasonable play call and throw.

    • Insomniac

Seems under thrown to me but could be Alshon not reading the ball well and overrunning it at the same time.

  • SteveH

I did not expect Sturgis to make that lol.

    • meteorologist

      I had 0 confidence

      • Ark87

Rande had me believing Irma was in DC

  • shah8

okay we got the lead at least.

    • xeynon

We got the lead back, and get the ball first in the second half. Would like to see a quick TD to restore order.

  • Tumtum

Any room left at the bar? Sorry Im late. So it was nice having a real CB for 10 minutes, right?!?

    • Crus57

He looked pretty good too, always in the camera shot when the ball arrived which isn’t much but better than we’re used to

  • Can we please stop hearing about how dominant this defensive line is going to be? By far the most disappointing part of this game so far

    • Tumtum

I’ve been the guy with that voice most off season, but u cray. Line has been good.

      • It was good in the 4th quarter for sure. Hopefully that is what we see moving forward. But aside from some bad throws from Cousins and dropped passes, the defense was “ok”

        • Tumtum

Secondary issues are known. The Redskins couldn’t run at all. That can’t be over looked.

      • They were definitely dominant in the 4th quarter. Hopefully that is what we see moving forward. Personally I thought that they were not great up to that point. If not for some bad Cousins throws and bad drops we’d have been down at halftime and the outcome might have been different. You are entitled to a different PoV

        • Tumtum

I was pretty impressed all game long to be honest.

    • meteorologist

Wouldn’t say “by far” in a game we lost our CB1 and starting LT

      • Tumtum

With any luck JP loss will be nothing like darby

        • meteorologist

If nothing else, will deplete our OL depth

      • Tumtum

On que, sideline reporter says Skins had to go to quick game due to pressure.

      • Disappointed means something that does not live up to expectations. Not sure people really go into a season expecting no injuries. But sure it sucks to have lost Darby – sure seemed like he’ll be out for quite some time. we’ll have to wait and see how severe Peter’s injury is

  • Ark87

It’s looking like week 1 out there. Messy game on both sides

  • T_S_O_P

    Love me some #87

  • Ryan Rambo

    Peters is back. For now.

  • A_T_G

    JP is back.

    • A_T_G

      …sorta.

  • T_S_O_P

    Pinkston sighting

  • A_T_G

So, I was watching on my phone at a Scout event. Is Darby’s ankle as bad as it looked?

    • FairOaks

No official info yet, but carted off and won’t return.

    • Ryan Rambo

I’m praying for a break at this point man.

    • Checkdown Charlie

      havent said

    • T_S_O_P

Looked broken or dislocated. Either way, it the accompanying ligament damage.

      • A_T_G

I tried to tell myself maybe his shoe was just twisted sideways and not the foot inside…

  • shah8

best pass of the day from Wentz

  • FairOaks

Wentz has definitely learned how to slide.

  • T_S_O_P

Good recovery from missed XP by Caleb

  • SteveH

Alshon dropping that pass was discouraging. Dude is supposed to be a machine.

    • Crus57

You have to think that the fact he’s only on a one year deal will be in the back of his head, if he gets injured he’s in trouble for the forseeable future.

      • SteveH

IDK man I think he just dropped it.

  • SteveH

Wow Jacksonville is blowing out Houston lol.

    • A_T_G

      Dude, phrasing?

      Hurricanes?

    • FairOaks

Houston put in Watson at halftime, and he just got a TD. 19-7 now, looks like.

  • Ark87

That drive was looking good. Didn’t like that 3rd down call. But I guess it was safeish?

    • SteveH

3rd/12 tough to convert on regular plays, try a little misdirection to get it, just Norman made a great read.

  • SeanofDead

    Breeland is stupid

  • A_T_G

Clement with a nice tackle on the kickoff.

    • meteorologist

      Another one? Wow

  • T_S_O_P

    Timmy J beasting

  • SteveH

Oooooo Jernigan with the huge hit.

  • FairOaks

Jernigan sighting. That was a nice finish.

    • Spooonius

He got there fast and had a nice burst at the end

  • SteveH

D has only given up 7 points so far, they’re doing their part… If it weren’t for that tipped pass this would be a whole different game.

  • SteveH

    omggg holding, fucks sake.

  • T_S_O_P

Saint and sinner from the LBs

  • FairOaks

Tough holding call, as Cousins was in trouble and not looking that way. But did hold Reed.

    • Spooonius

He got out of position and had to hold. The TE got by him

  • SeanofDead

    Violent run by Kelly there…respect

  • Ark87

Great second effort frim Hicks, for naught

  • T_S_O_P

    Second team DL

  • SteveH

damnit we were off the field, and Bradham holds… Jesus.

  • A_T_G

Let’s go defense. Tighten it up.

  • SteveH

    Robinson actually good coverage there.

  • Spooonius

I wish the D would show Cousins why quarterbacks slide

    • xeynon

      Right?

I wonder if Washington has decided since he won’t sign a long term deal they’re not going to be overly concerned about his health and dial up the read option plays.

  • SeanofDead

    Robinson right there

  • xeynon

Don’t like like our defense giving them cheap yards with penalties.

  • A_T_G

That deep ball was 5 yards past everyone, yet Robinson stopped to look at it when it was thrown. He makes me nervous.

    • meteorologist

He makes me nervous too but I thought he played it perfectly

  • SeanofDead

need the 3rd down stop here boys

  • T_S_O_P

    Come on D

  • SteveH

omg, WOW, Chris Long misses the sack unblocked. Unreal.

    • Spooonius

      That looked awful

  • Checkdown Charlie

    Damnn It
    Almost had him

  • FairOaks

Chris Long unblocked and missed the tackle.

  • SteveH

What a savvy veteran play by Chris Long there. *wanking motion*

    • T_S_O_P

Kick Cousins asking for a flag literally equals *wanking motion*

  • xeynon

Chris Long clearly gets his pass rushing ability from his mom.

    • T_S_O_P

LOL. Was she also a Villanova alumni.

  • SeanofDead

    lets go Schwarz…show me something

    • SteveH

It’s not Schwartz’s fault that Long literally can’t bring down Kirk Cousins of all people while unblocked off the edge. What a load of crap. Game losing type plays.

  • A_T_G

It is smart how we are just letting them march down the field. We are bad at 3rd and long.

  • Ark87

This drive man. We look good, then miss the lay up

    • xeynon

Very frustrating drive. There are multiple occasions on which we should have killed it.

  • SteveH

How are we going to fuck up this 3rd and long.

    • Spooonius

      Interception?

      • SteveH

Im thinking Kirk Cousins stiff arms Fletcher Cox to the ground while Mills trips over his shoelaces and a TD toss to a wide open 4th string TE.

        • A_T_G

If that happens you are getting blocked.

          • SteveH

If that happens I’m just going to show myself out. It would mean I’m a witch.

          • A_T_G

            You’re lucky.

          • SteveH

Or unlucky, being a witch might be cool.

  • Crus57

Wish the playclock would go below 0 so we can see exactly how long some teams get before delay is called

    • SteveH

I wish they’d review the playclock situation where it doesn’t get reset like on our delay of game. Would be useful to know if it was a legit flag or a bullshit situation.

    • Tumtum

Would be too much embarassment for refs that don’t look at the clock.

      • xeynon

There’s no reason it should even have to be something the refs keep track of. Just set up an automated whistle that blows as soon as it hits zero.

    • Ark87

The thing should go off with a buzzer like in basketball

  • Ark87

The play clock on the broadcast has been janky all game

    • T_S_O_P

      Janky?

      • T_S_O_P

        Local speak?

      • Ark87

        Buggy

        • T_S_O_P

That is nearly as alien 🙂

          • Ark87

Lol, I’ll just describe it, play clock was counting down 2 seconds at a time, then going back a second all game long, like 30,28,29,27,28, etc

      • Tumtum

        U never heard that one?

        • T_S_O_P

          Not in Blighty

    • Tumtum

Saddest part is that clock is a legit feed from game clock. That is what everyone is seeing.

  • SteveH

Well thank god our mistakes only cost us 3 instead of 7. That would have been backbreaking.

  • T_S_O_P

6 from Wendell would be nice

    • xeynon

Would you take an awkward five yard return from Celek?

  • Spooonius

There is something disturbingly satisfying about that FG.

    • Tumtum

We held and lead? Satisfying as hell.

      • Spooonius

True. The drive was so long and frustrating though.

    • xeynon

With all that went wrong on that drive I was expecting the dagger TD on 3rd and long. Holding them to 3 feels like a decent outcome.

  • Checkdown Charlie

I figured Jax to be bad this year. Just shows pre season means nothing

    • Spooonius

      You and everyone else

    • Tumtum

Don’t be foolwd by week 1 playing a team that hasnt been home in over a week! Not to mentiom Watson came right in and got TD

  • SteveH

Somehow Nelson Agholor is my highest scoring fanduel player. And I have shady, Devonta Freeman and Antonio Brown. O.o.

  • T_S_O_P

Just how many KRs has the longest tenured Eagle made in his career?

  • Spooonius

Ha! There was a lot of foot movement to get 1 yard.

    • ConcussedFB

      He was pulling a plow.

  • SteveH

    goddamnit, another promising drive killed.

  • scratcherk

so the refs do call IG?

  • Checkdown Charlie

sometimes yo have to throw it away sooner

    • A_T_G

That is the price you pay for the magic where he ducks Clay Mathews and throws a TD.

      • Checkdown Charlie

        amen

  • Crus57

Homefield Advantage, that’s a 10yd penalty and loss of down

  • SteveH

    holy shit its jim tomsula.

    • xeynon

Demoted from HC to D line coach.. not even coordinator. Ouch.

  • xeynon

Ertz appears to be bringing his December game right from the start this year. That’s a good sign.

    • Checkdown Charlie

wasnt he hurt half the year last year

  • Spooonius

I truly do not understand how grounding is called. What about Smith
    ??????

    • Tumtum

      Didnt make it to line.

  • Tumtum

Home cookin has to be yummy. Blantant IG ignored for home team. Close one on us is called.

  • SeanofDead

I guess they don’t call contact after 5…

  • SteveH

There’s way too much pressure today… Jeffrey almost earned his paycheck on that catch.

    • Spooonius

Almost. He still gets the money though.

      • SteveH

Haha, well its game 1, lets not throw him in the dumpster yet.

        • Spooonius

I know. I can feel my inner negadelphian getting stronger

  • Spooonius

Isn’t that why we have Alshon? To catch balls like that?

  • T_S_O_P

Alshon coming close. But you get nothing for close

  • SteveH

All things considered I think the Darby injury is the big downer, but the OL play is super discouraging too.

  • Ryan Rambo

Just scrubbing the internet for any news on Darby. Didn’t come up with much, but here is an interesting article…..http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/profootballdoc/sd-sp-pfd-darby-ankle-eagles-0910-story.html

    • meteorologist

This guy is a great resource. Good find

  • xeynon

Wentz has a tendency to scramble forward toward the line rather than backwards when he’s under pressure. Gets him in trouble when the pocket is collapsing but at least he doesn’t have Nick Foles disease.

    • Tumtum

Stepping up is what good QBs do. Back peddling gets you cut like McGloin.

      • xeynon

Yep. Now let’s just start blocking someone so he doesn’t have to do it.

  • Ark87

Damn, the version of him making those tough jump balls changes this team, he’s been disappointing in the tough catch department so far

  • SteveH

the fuck was that Joe Walker. Jesus christ.

    • Ryan Rambo

Hey…let’s just hand em’ a free FIFTEEN smh.

  • Ryan Rambo

    Great play Joe. SMH

  • A_T_G

    Dumb penalty, (almost) rookie.

  • SeanofDead

come on Dline…need you to show up here

  • SteveH

This has all the hallmarks of a crushing Eagles loss, dumb penalties, dumb plays, dumb mistakes.

    • Spooonius

I’m starting to mentally prepare for it

  • scratcherk

    all kinds of stupid

  • xeynon

Joe Walker is not good enough to get away with even the occasional dumb penalty.

  • T_S_O_P

    Good save from Jaylen

  • CTbirdsguy

play action from under center looks so nice…

  • SteveH

Ronald Darby injury domino effect, Jaylen Watkins covering Terelle Pryor.

  • xeynon

Name I have not heard even once today: Derek Barnett.

    • Ryan Rambo

      #thatbendtho

    • SteveH

Man that is way down on my list of complaints for today, that a rookie isn’t making plays in his first NFL game. I mean shit, did you see that missed sack by Chris Long?

    • T_S_O_P

He platoons in with the entire second team DL. Not necessarily the most prosperous conditions

      • xeynon

I’m definitely not giving up on him. I still like the decision to pick him. Just would love to see him assert himself.

  • SteveH

    YEAHHHHHHHHHH ATTABOY MILLS

  • scratcherk

    miiiillllls

  • T_S_O_P

    Mills beasting

  • Spooonius

    Woo hoo!!!!!

  • scratcherk

    work on them return skillz

  • FairOaks

Has Mills replaced the finger wag?

  • A_T_G

    Nice steal, Green Goblin.

  • anon

    finger wavin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • shah8

Jalen Mills is having a great day

  • Ark87

    Thank goodness.

  • xeynon

I must say, I enjoy Kirk Cousins face almost as much as Eli Manning face.

  • T_S_O_P

    Stealing 7, tastes so good

  • scratcherk

can we run the clock and get pts?

  • SeanofDead

Jeffery and Smith 2 rec for 44 yds on 7 targets…..need better production

    • T_S_O_P

Contested balls to Alshon and under thrown deeps to Smith

      • T_S_O_P

        Or overthrown!!!!!!

    • xeynon

Not great. Agholor and Ertz making them pay though.

  • Tumtum

Oh no. Mills is growing a rat tail. Pls no!

    • A_T_G

If it helps with the ball skills, I’ll take it.

      • xeynon

I’d prefer it add two tenths of a second to his 40 time.

    • scratcherk

      looks more like rabbit puff

    • Ark87

The green is officially not the weirdest part of his hair do

  • ACViking

Sproles in on 1st down and runs the ball.

Smallwood in on 3rd and catches.

    ???

  • Tumtum

Blount in the game?? 9 in the box! Why not check??

  • A_T_G

    “When-DELL Smallwood”

    Is that right? Not WHEN-doll?

    • Tumtum

      Yeah think so.

  • FairOaks

Now overthrows Smith on the deep ball 😉 It was there

  • Ryan Rambo

When Torrey ducks his head, those jets turn on. Lol

  • T_S_O_P

    Rip it up!!!

  • scratcherk

    attaboys

  • SeanofDead

    Sexy Wentz is best Wentz

  • A_T_G

And that is why we need to accept the frustrating sacks when he could have thrown it away.

  • Tumtum

This kid isn’t perfect but he has it man. He is so impressive!!

    • scratcherk

      2nd yr QB

    • T_S_O_P

      He can grow into it

    • xeynon

He has what you call the “it factor” if it’s your QB and the “oh shit!” factor if it’s the other team’s QB. Every play, even the busted ones, is a potential big play.

  • FairOaks

Smallwood with a couple yards out of nothing there

    • FairOaks

… then loses a couple on the next one.

  • SteveH

Improv Wentz can be so beastly.

  • CTbirdsguy

breeland got hit in the head and went off. want a big play

    • CTbirdsguy

nope, they run it. backup CB still out there. best spot on the field to take a shot

  • SteveH

That 2nd down run was so ugly. No push at all.

  • T_S_O_P

    Smallwood < Blount today

  • FairOaks

    3rd and 9 and we try the quick-out !?!?!!?!?!

A block by Jeffery may have made that work, but… he didn’t.

    • SteveH

Yeah, good execution and he’s off the races.

    • Insomniac

2/2 for bad effort in blocking by the FA WRs so far.

    • meteorologist

A block by Jeffery or Torrey would have been nice

  • A_T_G

Our OL is not winning the LOS.

  • T_S_O_P

    Jaylen again

  • Ryan Rambo

Some of these calls on offense are offensive.

    • ACViking

      B-I-N-G-O.

And they don’t play to Wentz’s strength (i.e., not throwing laterally)

      • Insomniac

Beat them laterally if you can’t beat them vertically. Doesn’t sound bad on paper but it sure as hell is ugly to watch.

    • T_S_O_P

There is no point to and Andy prodigy without an accompanying Brad disciple

  • Ryan Rambo

Our DEFENSE wins this one for us here. LET’S GO BIRDGANG!!!

  • Ark87

Just can’t sustain drives on 3rd and long over and over

  • scratcherk

    safety plz

  • SeanofDead

We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind

    • Spooonius

      Ask and ye shall receive

  • teltschikfakeout88

    Awesome run blocking

  • T_S_O_P

    Jaylen gaming

  • scratcherk

    watkins angry

  • Spooonius

    The jaylens are killing it

  • SeanofDead

Nice hit by Watkins…whom I thought had no shot making the roster

    • Insomniac

He wasn’t bad as a CB, he’s just not very good as a safety.

    • Spooonius

Not just you. I would love to be wrong

  • scratcherk

gruden stole andys playbook for that drive

  • Spooonius

PI there should be a safety

  • Insomniac

Jaylen Watkins trying to usurp (insert random CBs) job

    • scratcherk

well if hes better there than safety, great

  • scratcherk

    put game away now

  • Checkdown Charlie

    Need to get 7 here

  • A_T_G

I want a long methodical running drive, but I don’t know if the OL can open holes.

    • xeynon

Yeah, grind clock and then score the killer TD.

  • Ark87

Thank god it isn’t just us who throw over and over at bad times

  • Ryan Rambo

    Stop that bullshit screen call.

  • FairOaks

Eagles determined to make the quick-out work. 0 yards on that one, which may tie for best.

  • teltschikfakeout88

    These play calls are terrible

  • T_S_O_P

I’m envying Kendal Fuller. Beast Alshon

  • scratcherk

    vaitai on kerrigan nice

  • scratcherk

so many foot tackles on blount, so lucky

    • Spooonius

      Yeah,hopefully he breaks one

  • Tumtum

Shoes strings are Blount’s achillies heel. Ia that bad?

    • A_T_G

Just so his Achilles isn’t a shoestring.

    • scratcherk

      velcro FTW

  • Allen3000

Have we had a run over 7 yards today? OL is weak at run blocking.

  • Checkdown Charlie

    No FG

  • xeynon

This is why we got Blount.

  • ACViking

Was there ever an update on Darby?

    • Tumtum

His ankle was prettt clearly dislocated. Won’t be good. Haven’t heard on though.

  • A_T_G

    Go for it.

  • SeanofDead

    hhmmmmm….do it

  • scratcherk

    plz dont go for it

    • T_S_O_P

      You’ve been heard

  • SeanofDead

    ummm…why the to

  • CTbirdsguy

    ugh

  • A_T_G

Was there not time to wait for the two minute warning?

    • scratcherk

wont matter with kickoff except maybe the 2 secs

      • xeynon

        Unless it’s a touchback.

      • A_T_G

        Unless it’s a touchback, right?

        • scratcherk

          yep. whoops

        • A_T_G

Nevermind, XP is timed, I guess.

    • meteorologist

No way. That’s an epic blunder if so

  • Spooonius

I was very nervous. I’m waiting till after the play to decide whether they should go for it or not

  • SeanofDead

    there was 5 seconds
    idiotic time management there

    • scratcherk

was wondering abt play clock, wont matter cuz kickoff will go to 2 minute warning

  • Allen3000

How many secs were onthe play clock?

  • teltschikfakeout88

Yeah… we are up by 5 and now have to give the ball back to Cousins who has killed us in the past in the minute drill…

    • xeynon

Defense is playing better today than it has in the past. Pressuring him and has forced him into two turnovers.

  • SeanofDead

I don’t understand that shit man, I hate to play captain hindsight but why…why call a timeout there, its unexcusable

    • SteveH

Low situational awareness… At the very least it doesn’t hurt us much, past the 2 minute warning anyhow, it only is 2 seconds worth of difference.

      • SeanofDead

We may very well need that Timeout tho

  • if the Eagles end up losing this game how many times do you think we’re going to hear about not going for it on 4th down there?

    • scratcherk

      100% the right call

      • SteveH

Yeah that was the right call, make it a TD game not a FG game.

      • meteorologist

You go for it there 100% unless your offensive line is getting demolished

    • Insomniac

It’s going to happen regardless. The media loves to criticize every move.

    • xeynon

You kick the FG there. Win probability is higher if WAS needs 7 and not just 3.

      • Oh, I completely agree it was 100% the right call. But I’m just saying that Pederson would have gotten unfairly roasted for not being aggressive after getting roasted for being aggressive last year. Luckily it did not matter and we won

  • xmbk

Did not like the spot there. Should have challenged rather than use TO.

    • scratcherk

      good thought

    • Spooonius

      It was definitely questionable

  • Tumtum

CUT THAT MEAT CUT THAT MEAT!

  • meteorologist

    YES

  • scratcherk

    WINNNNNNNN

  • A_T_G

Well, let’s see if it stands…

  • Checkdown Charlie

    Okie Dokie

  • scratcherk

THAT S THE WAY TO WIN BOUYS!!!

  • SteveH

YEAH BOY THROW THAT WASHTEAM IN THE DUMPSTER B GRIZZLE BABY WOOOOOOOOOOO

  • T_S_O_P

    Boom boom

  • SeanofDead

    Please God let this stand

  • scratcherk

    YES YES YES

  • Allen3000

    How you like that???!!

  • CTbirdsguy

    FINALLY SOMEONE GOT HOME

  • meteorologist

    He threw it 🙁

  • scratcherk

    incomplete

  • anon

bam bam – maybe schwartz should be coaching this team?

  • A_T_G

I think it will come back.

  • SteveH

    Ah shit. Fuck.

  • scratcherk

    fuck

  • Tumtum

    Comin back

  • Crus57

watch them convert the next play for a big gain

  • SeanofDead

his hand was but not the ball….almost looks like ball was out before contact

  • SteveH

Graham hits his arm… question is does the ball come out before or after it starts coming forward.

    • Insomniac

It was going forward. You can see the release of the ball.

  • T_S_O_P

It is out, but will be overturned

  • SteveH

HOLY SHIT TD! FUCKING YEAH ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!

  • SeanofDead

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • scratcherk

    YES YES YES

  • Checkdown Charlie

    WOW!!~

  • scratcherk

    thank you refs

  • Tumtum

    VICTORY!!!!

  • SeanofDead

    AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • meteorologist

    WOW

  • A_T_G

Holy shit! (I’d be furious if I was a WAS fan.)

    • T_S_O_P

      Even better

  • teltschikfakeout88

Thank god the refs blew it in our favor

  • Insomniac

Well I’m glad I was wrong.

    • FairOaks

I don’t think you were. But maybe just enough not-good angle on the replay to make it not obvious.

  • scratcherk

I think it was the left arm of graham that hit the arm that might have caused the doubt

    • meteorologist

      Maybe. Didn’t see

    • SteveH

Yeah he definitely hit Cousins arm at some point, it’s just when.

  • Tumtum

    Ok next week. MuST WIN!

    • Insomniac

I’m actually scared of the Chiefs next week just solely based on what we saw so far.

      • anon

        hangover week

      • Tumtum

I was scared before thursday. Now terrified.

  • scratcherk

    Good win guys

    • Crus57

it’s not over, we know better

      • scratcherk

I will personally mail you a check for 100 bucks if we lose

        • Crus57

that would come in handy to go towards replacing my tv in that situation

  • Ark87

We’ve been saving that ref karma. Been 1 sided until that dagger

  • scratcherk

I’m proud of you guys per usual. I’m also proud of myself for doing this with a 7 wk in my arms

  • xeynon

Looked like an incomplete pass to me, but maybe this was the classic “no indisputable evidence” case.

In any event, BIG COX IN YOUR FACE!!!

    • xmbk

I think he lost the ball trying to pull it back.

  • Allen3000

Why did we go for 2 there? Not going to complain, but just an odd call.

    • scratcherk

      2 score lead

      • FairOaks

It was already an 11 point lead. I guess the chart says go since a TD and two FGs will just tie instead of win, but … a bit silly really. Maybe they just wanted to practice the 2-point play at a point where it didn’t matter.

      • Allen3000

        2 scores= 14

We have a 13 point lead. We don’t convert and we’re stuck with an 11 point lead which is way worse than 12 points.

      • xeynon

They already had a two score lead. Missing that makes it possible for WAS to tie with TD + 2 pt conversion + FG. Was a questionable call.

    • xmbk

Must be numbers somewhere to support it, but I’d want to go up 12. TD and FG can net 11.

      • Tumtum

Yeah, chart says do it. Inconsequential due to time.

      • FairOaks

Right but extra point would be 12.

        • xmbk

          Right, should kick.

    • A_T_G

If they ore a TD, then we score a TD and go for 2 again, they would need a second TD to tie… all in 90 seconds

      • Tumtum

Think its more they could only tie with TD FG FG…in 1 min

        • xmbk

Worrying about 3 scores is ridiculous. That’s why human beings need to interpret data, not be slaves to it.

    • Insomniac

2 score lead and less chance of time management errors.

      • xmbk

        Kicking gives 2 score lead.

        • Allen3000

Right. How is this point lost on so many ppl??

        • Insomniac

He was being safe by being dangerous.

  • Ark87

There’s the ridiculously big body, when it doesn’t matter

  • SeanofDead

Id like to see a shot of Snyder seething right now

  • SteveH

Only thing I can thinks is they must have thought Graham hit Kirk’s arm before it started going forward. It does look like the ball isn’t in his hand on that one angle.

    • T_S_O_P

I think Cousins fumbled before Graham hit his arm. Spooked

      • Spooonius

        Me too

  • Duracell

I would have overturned that, and I’m annoyed that Washington fans now have a built in excuse, but woohoo!

Also really sad to see all the negative comments on both here and BGN (ugh, what did I expect). Not sure where all the negativity was coming from. We’re about to win a road game against a division rival.

    • Tumtum

And you have a built-in retort. SCOREBOARD

  • A_T_G

Okay, just no garbage points for crowder, my personal opponent today.

  • SteveH

So we got a Graham sack/FF and a Cox sack/FF, nice to see the stars showing up.

  • xeynon

Let’s pad the stats with a few more sacks followed by another turnover here.

  • SteveH

Woo Graham going towards that paycheck.

  • SeanofDead

Damn GREAT to have football back…That was a lot of fun!!!!

  • scratcherk

    Someone get BG a smoothie

  • scratcherk

    thats a fumble

    • FairOaks

      Make-up call 😉

      • scratcherk

        ill take it

      • A_T_G

        This made me laugh.

  • shah8

Good game. At least Wentz settled down and became more accurate as the game went on…

    • xeynon

Yeah he wasn’t perfect by any means, but he made some very good throws and a couple of “wow” plays.

  • Tumtum

Ok good get me some crowder and thompson trash time!!

  • Insomniac

BG already on track to have like half his career sack totals.

    • daveH

Yes her really is a wonderful player for us and impressive coming thru all that early setbacks

  • SteveH

D only gave up 10 points today. Good showing.

    • Tumtum

      All things considered…amazing d today

    • Insomniac

I’m amazed at how the Jaylens played. Totally expected them to be burnt toast against Pryor, Crowder, and Doctson.

  • T_S_O_P

Let’s see where we are with #71 and #41

    • Tumtum

41 we hope can make it back to 100% next year

      • xeynon

Let’s hope it wasn’t as bad as it looked, because it looked ugly.

On the plus side, we didn’t miss a beat defensively without him.

        • A_T_G

We held on, but the pass defense suffered.

          • xeynon

Some of that was Cousins getting warmed up. He missed some open receivers early on when Darby was still in there.

          • A_T_G

Could be, I was following on my phone early. Until that injury and the pick-6, though, both units appeared dominant.

          • FairOaks

He missed some open WRs late too. The biggest was overthrowing an open WR at the 5 yard line and finding Mills instead.

        • Duracell

I’d need someone watching the tape like Tommy to confirm how good the corners actually played, but from watching live it was more promising than I could have imagined once Darby went out.

  • xeynon

When was the last time we sacked Kirk Coupons 4 times in a game?

    • CrackSammich

      Kurt

  • Spooonius

    Ertz and Ags big today!

    • T_S_O_P

      Jaylen Watkins impressive too

  • A_T_G

Dumping the Gatorade after a week 1 win might be the wrong attitude.

    • Insomniac

Anonymous Eagles players set up scheme to dump Gatorade on Pederson every week, hopes to discourage him and let Schwartz be the HC – McLane

    • Ark87

      Cringey

    • T_S_O_P

Seriously! Beating the Deadskins, regardless of venue, is setting the bar low

    • Corry

      yeah….

    • daveH

      Dumpin it on that monkey

  • SteveH

Thank god I started Houston D against Jacksonville. They finished with a solid 0.

    • xeynon

I played in a fantasy league a few years ago where the guy who won the championship didn’t have a set defense/ST and just picked up and played whoever was playing the Jaguars that week. It won him a couple games singlehandedly and we joked that Blake Bortles should’ve been the first unrostered MVP in fantasy football history.

  • xeynon

Carson Palmer is burned toast. Arizona is going to be terrible this year.

  • Ark87

Good game by the D-line, got the better of a good O-line, D should have a good year, hopefully Darby can make it back this year

  • Crus57

Thing I worry about now is if Darby is done for the year or even significant time (which looks very likely) then I hope they don’t try and bring back Sidney Jones too soon into the IR break.

  • Allen3000

Solid game. Definitely some things to work on, but definitely a lot of bright spots to build upon.

  • Corry

So always good to see the Birds win. Losing Darby is going to hurt, but the defensive line is going to make life tough for opposing QBs. I’m very happy with the win!

That said, can we never do the wide receiver plays ever again?

  • Sean Stott

Hopefully Darby can come back after a couple months

  • Ark87

    God Seattle’s O-line is brutal

  • Dragon_Eagle

Just left Portland, OR bar where I watched the game with a Portland Eagles fan base. Good time/people. Sound sucked.

What is the status of our injuries? Peters, Darby?

    • A_T_G

Peters was “back” and had all his gear, but was coaching Vaitai, so he is probably day to day. No word on Darby, but it has to be bad.

      • Dragon_Eagle

Thanks for the update. Darby’s looked awful. If he’s back this season I’ll be shocked.

        • A_T_G

          Yup.

        • Tumtum

We could totally luck out and it was some sort of crazy cramp. I didn’t see anything that should of dislocated it.

          • daveH

It rolled on him and stayed locked .. yuck. Hoping for the best

    • BobSmith77

Peters has a groin pull and it sounds like a near certainty he will miss at least next week and possibly more.

No word on Darby and Sturgis will be evaluated with a likely hamstring injury.

      Kind of a costly victory.

  • daveH

German. .HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT GIRLS SOCCER SEASON AHEAD !!

  • A_T_G

I have NE defense. Oddly enough, the Eagles defense got me more points. NE earned me a whopping 0.5 points, while the Eagles held Crowder to negative 1.15 points.

    • Tumtum

I have Crowder…and the eagles d and ertz and ags …i play to many ffb leagues.

  • Dave

Just got back from the day golfing in the Poconos. I read the highlights, now I’m just firing up the DVR to watch the game. Although I’m happy with the win, I’m bummed about Darby.

    • Tumtum

      On the opener dude?!

      • Dave

I play every third week in a traveling league. Not gonna pass up a 70-degree day in the mountains with lots of beer;-)

        • Tumtum

I wouldn’t have either tbh. Just giving you a hard time.

    • daveH

I like the way we filled in for him and played and stayed very competitive

      • Dave

        How was the offensive line?

        • BobSmith77

Better in the 2nd half even without Peters but they still struggled all day.

        • daveH

More to worry about than to be confidant about

  • TO BLACKS

Where in the FUCKING HELL are the writer(s) for this SHIT ASS SITE?

  • TO BLACKS

Where in the FUCKING HELL are the writer(s) for this SHIT ASS SITE??

  • Ark87

Special teams or defense will need to score points when we play Seattle. Defense is as billed. But their offense is brutal. Particularly the O-line

  • BobSmith77

    – Couple thoughts:

    1. Eagles got a huge break on that fumble TD call. It was a bad call Skins’ fans are livid about and rightfully so.

    2. I said I wanted Reed over Ertz. Good call. Didinger did say that Ertz was going to have a big day and he even predicted Ertz would break the single-season Eagles’ reception record (Westbrook with 90 in 2002).

Ertz is off to a nice start. Wonder if becomes the security blanket that K. Jackson was to a young Cunningham and Lewis was for a young McNabb.

    3. Eagles have invested huge money in their DL and the Eagles collected the dividends today. Graham looked like he did last Sept and made Moses look bad all day. Played like a Top 5 DE end today.

    4. Both of these QBs were lousy today on deep throws badly throwing their targets.

    5. Skins constantly targeted Mills all day long. He made 2 plays I can recall but he is going to be a target that gets picked on weekly. Bradham got targeted a fair amount too.

    • Ark87

I was feeling fairly confident before the botched call. There was a lot more pressure coming for him. We held up fine in garbage time. Notorious stat fluff time it is

  • FairOaks

    https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/906986086181851136

Says Darby has dislocated ankle, X-Rays negative, will do MRI to check for ligament damage.

Some speculation that if no ligament damage, it may be a mid-season return.

    • BobSmith77

Huge break if no soft tissue damage.

      • Crus57

        although, phrasing?

    • Ark87

If everything works out, best case scenario 4-6 weeks?

    • SteveH

Jesus Christ that would be a huge break for us if he didn’t have ligament damage.

      • Crus57

        Don’t use the B word!

      • ChoTime

That would be a huge break for him if he did.

    • Dragon_Eagle

Thank you for the update. Wishing Darby all the best.

  • BobSmith77

Pederson insists on running multiple WR screens and man I hate them with this offensive skill personnel.

Unless one of the rookie WR is a good blocker, there isn’t a good-blocking WR on this team and I’m not a fan of using Agholor on those plays. Jeffrey and Smith are poor fits for any type of WR screen.

    • Dragon_Eagle

Agreed. Wentz needs to work on those passes, though. He was brutal. that fumble-TD was entirely on him.

      • Ark87

Definitely he floats them and they go high. To do that play, you
        A) need to have someone absolutely dynamic catching it. All those plays exist to manufacture touches for an incredible WR

        B) GOT to get that ball out there fast with a quick release and velocity . Watching other teams run it, their guys really flick it out with some zip

Bubble screens and variations of the jet sweep and the fakes on those then turning around to throw behind the line of scrimage on the other side, it all pissed me off

Overall, I’m not really that impressed with our offensive scheme. Seems pretty vanilla and basically just uses the same things a lot from different formation and with different personel.

I had hoped Doug would have spent more time this off season, adjusting and perfecting his playbook. The comparison will obviously come up a lot, but Doug needs to show he can do what Reid did so well throughout his tenure with us, and now is doing in KC. Created a great offense there, basically twisting everything from the bottom up to fit their roster. Not really a knock on Doug as the HC, more a knock on Doug the effective OC.

This Seattle defense is so good

Interesting to see Schwartz no where near Pederson during the Gatorade bath or on the post-game congratulations on the field.

McLane article already gotten beaten to death but it will be interesting to watch Schwartz this year including his comments after games.
