This normally wouldn’t be a big deal because the Eagles mostly play the Nickel D with Jordan Hicks and Nigel Bradham. But Hicks missed half of the last game so he’s clearly not 100 percent. You better hope he stays healthy tonight.
Also, the Skins will use 2-TE sets. The Eagles like to go base defense (3 LBs) against that look. This means Najee Goode or Joe Walker will play in those sets. Rookie Nate Gerry is active, but I can’t imagine he’ll make his debut on defense in such a big game. He will play on STs.
DT Destiny Vaeao is back in action for the first time since the season opener. He will have played two games…both against WAS. Crazy. Justin Hamilton played well last week so the fact the coaches are going with Vaeao tells you how much the coaches like him.

The Skins are missing one CB and the other CB is not close to 100 percent. This might be a game to throw the ball to your WRs and test those DBs. Take some chances down the field.

So, two games left against the Cowboys should be quite epic. Losing mabye our best non-QB players that aren’t named Cox. More pressure on Wentz, but he is looking up to it. Given the state of the NFC, this team is a contender.
The Cowboys don’t scare me, especially if they’re without Zeke for one or both games.
We match up amazingly against the Cowboys. We take away the run the best in the NFL, and even better always get multiple TFL’s, which are just drive killers. Don’t think Dak can carry the load against the Eagles pass rush to keep pace with what the Eagles can do on offence.
If their OL can push us around and dominate the game, they could control things. Our CBs probably actually still suck, and if our LBs don’t get back. That seems to be how they would do it, at least.
Last Cowboys game could be meaningless or mean everything. They play in Washington next week, the Redskins could really do us a solid.

Hicks -> Walker is probably the biggest downgrade between starter and backup of any spot on the roster. But if we have Bradham and Kendricks healthy I think we can get by, we usually only play two LBs anyway.

I’d rather he gave some effort into being ready to play. The writers covering the team seem to get great amusement out of the yearly out of nowhere soft tissue injuries with Kendricks that keep him out of games. So if the guys who all cover the team find it worthy of mocking, that can’t be because they lack perspective.

Don’t think that’s going to happen. David J. Chao, MD (@profootballdoc, follow him on twitter if you don’t already) is thinking it’s an Achilles tear for HIcks. From what I’ve seen, dude is amazingly accurate on his predictions.

I LOVED McNabb, but was shocked to hear he never had 3 consecutive games of 3 TD passes tonight. That was kind of wild.
That’s not easy to do though, I’d love to see a list of great qbs who didn’t do it. As far as McNabb, it’s not his play, it’s his act. He praised Wentz, then had to throw in how he had more pizzazz. Just let it go dude, meaning McNabb. Now he’s calling Goff the best qb in the nfc. I can taste the salt.
Other than 2004, not sure McNabb had the weapons. He also had to learn to play in the pocket — Wentz was doing a lot of that in college. Latter half of McNabb’s career though, he seemed satisfied where he was, and didn’t seem to improve a whole lot — probably actually stayed in the pocket too much. We really should have won a SB in the early 2000s. Things like never protecting McNabb the way other QBs were protected was infuriating (spearing in the playoffs and no call, etc.)
McNabb is the best QB in franchise history — well, can’t speak to 1940s-1960s teams — but Wentz is on a clear trajectory right now to eclipse him.
I was a big McNabb supporter during his time, however you cannot deny that when thinks started bad they had an overall tendency to end bad. It is a fair observation to make.

AMAZING GAME! Huge win and they’ve stuck the OJ knife directly in Washington’s throat. Other than that 3rd&11 on the drive to cut the lead to 24-17 that shouldn’t have happened and the O-line forgetting to block a bunch of pussies that I hate…..amazing effort. Peters is a one of kind player, still the best OT in the NFL (FU Thomas, Williams, Smith fans!), and a steadying influence with the rest of the team. It’s really a shame.

There’s literally no reason to think it’s an achilles tear vs. an ankle sprain.
An achilles year is probably the easiest thing in the world to diagnose. Squeeze your calf. See how your foot moves? Now go slice your achilles. When you squeeze your calf your foot won’t move. DIY Science!
All this stuff is super easy to diagnose with an MRI. That doesn’t mean that what’s being presumed is what’s actually happened.
I Don’t why people keep assuming that JP will only be lost ‘for a while’ while it was obvious that he might be out for the season ?!
Because out for the season is bad for the team, but it also could mean career ending, which is sad to consider. No reason to be sad just to get a head start on the diagnosis. We will know soon enough.
