Game Preview – Eagles at Rams

Posted: December 10th, 2017 | Author: | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 1,332 Comments »

This is the Game of the Year.

To this point, anyway. A win gives the Eagles the division title and really helps their case for a playoff bye. A loss delays the division title another week and makes the playoff bye a lot more difficult.

After a rough outing in Seattle, I think you are going to see a much better showing from the Eagles today. Carson Wentz is ultra-competitive. It has to drive him crazy that the offense put up just 10 points last week. Jim Schwartz let his defense know about all the missed tackles, penalties and sloppy play from last week. The Eagles should be a team on a mission.

The Rams aren’t going to be easy to beat, but this matchup fits the Eagles so much better than Seattle did. I wrote my preview for PE.com.

Zach Ertz is going to miss today’s game. That’s not ideal, but the Eagles can win without him. They had a good day against Denver with Ertz on the sideline. The run game has to be good. The WRs have to step up. Brent Celek and Trey Burton need contribute. All of those things can happen.

I think running the ball will be crucial today. You want to wear down the Rams DL. You also want to keep Jared Goff and the offense on the sideline watching the game. The Eagles will throw the ball plenty, but I do expect the run game to be the focal point of the offense. Jay Ajayi gets his first 100-yard day as an Eagle.

It won’t shock me for the Eagles to win this game by 10 points. The Eagles can run. They can stop the run. They can rush the passer. And I think Wentz will be playing with an edge today.

No matter what, it does feel great to play in such a big game. Haven’t had that feeling much in recent years.

  • DJH

After watching Wilson dismantle our defense and watching Metwon make some plays/throws against a great Vikings defense, I’m reminded how important a game changing QB is for playoff success.

    • xeynon

Yeah, which is why I don’t fear the Vikings in the playoffs.

  • Howie Littlefinger

    Vikings are frauds?

Or is it really hard to beat a good team at home when they NEED the game more than u?

    • xeynon

A little bit of both, I think. The Vikings are definitely a legit playoff team, but I don’t think they’re the kind of powerhouse that goes 14-2 and runs away with the #1 seed. And it is hard to beat a good team on the road in a game they’re desperate to win even if you are that kind of team.

      • Howie Littlefinger

It’s hard to win on the road in NFL. Now factor in a team being desperate vs a team pretty much cruising’

The Eagles got bashed big time by every pundit waiting for them to lose. If Vikings lose to Panthers does that make our 1 win against a “winning team” that much more impressive?

        Hardly

        • xeynon

The truth of the matter is that every team, elite ones included, has more trouble beating good opponents and winning in places like Seattle than they do beating bad opponents and winning at home. Anyone who knows anything about the NFL, if told the Eagles would be 10-2 at this point in the season, would probably pick out @KC and @Seattle as two of the likeliest candidates for the losses.

    • meteorologist

Why would they be frauds? We know Carolina is legit from that bruising game we played earlier

  • xeynon

Wow, the Panthers are completely gagging.

  • Rambo

    F*cking VaGiants

  • sonofdman

So glad that Eli is back in. Do we still have to pretend that Eli is a good Qb who can never be benched or is that just a 1 week thing?

    • Rambo

Eff Eli if he cant beat Dallas

    • xeynon

He’s clearly on the way down, and they absolutely should plan to move on from him this offseason. But he’s had a very good career and it was low class for the team to bench him in favor of Geno Smith in the midst of a lost season.

      • sonofdman

I agree for the most part. But the reaction to his benching was so over the top.

        • Dave

Ah, I remember pre-Wentz all the people on this site saying we needed ownership/front office more like the Packers and the Giants. Oops!

  • Howie Littlefinger

    Underrated narrative:

    Foles Revenge

    • xeynon

The hope is we get a chance to see that because we’re winning in a blowout and he gets some garbage time snaps.

      • Dave

The best play for the Eagles is Foles taking a knee in the victory formation.

        • Ankerstjernen

This all became like reverse-true in an awful way.

    • Ankerstjernen

      You jinxed it! You fucker!

  • Dave

On an unrelated topic, to all the plumbers out there, God bless you! Out of all the home improvement projects I have taken on over the years (I’ve completely remodeled 2 houses), plumbing requires you to contort your body into very uncomfortable positions all of the time under a cabinet.

On to the game, Doug please target Alshon early and often and let this be the offensive coming out party for Mack Truck and the Jay Train.

  • scratcherk

    Lions up woot.

  • scratcherk

crazy that that browns are in OT with the pack

  • scratcherk

    sigh, browns gonna brown

  • sonofdman

Wow, I feel bad for the Browns.

    • scratcherk

i feel bad for us if the pack makes the playoffs

      • sonofdman

First round bye and then in comes Aaron Rodgers in the divisional round.

        • Dave

Rogers has broken his clavicle twice now and has plates/screws. The probability of it happening again is high.

      • xeynon

They’re still a long shot even after today, and if they do make it, I think we actually match up pretty well with them.

    • xeynon

Quite possibly the hardest team in professional sports to root for.

The only thing saving that city from total sports misery is the fact that Lebron is a hometown boy and wanted to come back.

  • xeynon

DeShone Kizer is terrible. Can’t express how bad the QB evaluation acumen of a front office that thought Wentz wouldn’t be a top 20 QB but believed this guy was worth a high draft pick must be.

  • SteveH

    ALRIGHT BOYS HERE WE GO!!

MINNY GAVE US WHAT WE WANTED NOW TAKE OUT OUR ANGER ON THESE FRAUDS.

  • A_T_G

    Really? Troy Aikman? *Sigh*

    • Crus57

Troy I can handle, it’s Joe Buck that makes me want to carve my ears off.

  • Dragon_Eagle

I hate those AR specials with 5 feints for 1 yard.

    • xeynon

The hope is that they’re setting up something for later in the game, but yeah, I agree not my favorite type of play at all.

  • CTbirdsguy

Blount to start the game again??

  • Dave

    Ags fucking sucks!

  • SteveH

    AGHOLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK

  • scratcherk

    ugh

  • xeynon

Man, Agholor you can’t be doing that in a game like this.

  • Insomniac

    Great start.

  • bobeph

    same ol, same ol

  • SteveH

    That’s it, I’m numb already.

    • A_T_G

You must be drinking the good stuff.

  • Dave

Two weeks in a row that Ags and Torrey are targeted early while Alshon is not.

  • bobeph

    thanks for the td, agosucks

  • SteveH

Unreal. We are not ready to play.

  • xeynon

Looks like they got away with a block in the back there.

    • xeynon

Never mind, the defender turned his back while being blocked.

  • sonofdman

    Nice audible by McVeigh

    • xeynon

Teams have to find a way to stop them from doing that. Disguise what they’re doing until after the headset communication shuts off.

  • Insomniac

    Oh god kill me now

  • bobeph

me thinks we’ve been exposed against good teams

  • Dragon_Eagle

OK, boys. Time to wake up and go to work.

  • jshort

looks like they been smoking dope all week.

  • DarthBanner

Doug has em ready to go again.

  • xeynon

Couldn’t have started worse. If they were complacent hopefully this wakes them up.

    • Crus57

we thought that’s what last week was for..

  • SteveH

Im going to drink myself into oblivion tonight I predict.

    • Ankerstjernen

      This prediction turned out well..

  • bobeph

winning record against losing teams, starting to make sense now

    • jshort

      lot of time left.

      • bobeph

I know, but sheesh after last week you’d think they’d (ags) would be sharp

  • bobeph

that pick is against wentz, but it shouldnt be

  • Patrick

Eagles need to stop the run and run over the Rams to win this game. Do that and we destroy them.

Off to a great start then.

  • Crus57

At least I know that if I mute the game in frustration I won’t miss anything with Buck & Aikman covering things.

  • xeynon

On the plus side, the Saints and Vikings both losing means dropping this game doesn’t completely ruin our shot at a first round bye.

    • kajomo

It proves we can’t beat good teams

  • bobeph

I wish Bill Walton called football games

  • Duracell

    Not at all worried yet.

    • xeynon

It’s a long game, but it’s an understatement to say that’s not the start we wanted.

      • Duracell

Oh it was a disastrous start. But we’re the better team and have more talent on both sides of the ball. I’ll start to worry if we can’t score in the first quarter.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Try again. Let’s get the 7 back and reset.

  • Dave

1st 15 plays are scripted. Odds are high that Torrey and Ags will be targeted again.

  • nicolajNN

The false sense of security is a bold strategy

  • bobeph

    penalty

  • xeynon

Wow Brooks just annihilated some poor linebacker there.

    • Insomniac

He can really move for a behemoth.

  • SteveH

LOL AGHOLOR WASNT IN THE HUDDLE!

    • bobeph

cause he sucks, not as sucky as last year, but he sucks

    • Insomniac

The rookie getting a vet into the huddle. I’ve almost seen it all now.

  • A_T_G

So that screen was a variation off the initial play to smith? They thought we were starting the second drive with that same play?

  • SteveH

Agholor was smoking that crack in preparation for this game, what a joke.

  • scratcherk

    ajayiiii

  • sonofdman

    Ajayi is looking good.

  • SteveH

Thank god Ajayi, PLEASE stick with Ajayi and less Blount.

  • xeynon

Nice, we need to be pounding the ball here. This defense is quick but small. I think we can wear them out.

  • CTbirdsguy

    Ajayi > Blount
    Ajayi > Blount
    Ajayi > Blount

    • A_T_G

      Ajayi + Blount + Clement > Blount + Smallwood + Sproles?

      • sonofdman

Yes (even though saying anything that could be construed as anti-proles is sacrilege).

      • CTbirdsguy

Hate to miss Sproles in the receiving and return game but Clement has stepped up as a 3rd down guy, so yes.

    • xeynon

I want Blount getting some carries too. He’s the kind of runner who wears down defenses.

  • bobeph

have to score td’s today, fg’s wont get it

  • sonofdman

On the replay it looked like Brooks knocked Aaron Donald to the ground!

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Keep bludgeoning that DL.

  • scratcherk

    flaaaag

  • scratcherk

    punch it in

  • A_T_G

    PI against the old guy.

  • scratcherk

    sneak

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Groan…

  • scratcherk

    fuck

  • sonofdman

    Yeah Celek!

  • xeynon

    In Carson we trust.

  • scratcherk

    ill take it

  • xeynon

Hahaha I love the flying geese formation celebration.

  • jshort

    better

  • Insomniac

    Old reliable.

  • Allen3000

Woooo! Love seeing Celek get a TD catch!

  • A_T_G

Why would an OT jump on a QB sneak? It is the only play in the playbook where he could just not move and the play still works.

    • Insomniac

      Learned from JP

  • GENETiC-FREAK

Niiice boys! Back in it. Reset lets goooo

  • T_S_O_P

    War Celek

  • shah8

Can’t stay long, ’cause got to go to work, but hey! Joe Webb plays his role in another win, and Shady does his thing in the snow again!

  • SteveH

What do you want to bet Agholor was visiting his old USC stomping grounds this week. How do you clang an interception and THEN NOT BE IN THE HUDDLE WHEN YOURE SUPPOSED TO BE YOU WANKER!

    • Dave

      Growth Mindset at it’s best.

  • xeynon

Carson looks much sharper today than he did last week.

    • jshort

      Good protection

  • shah8

Rams D doesn’t look remotely capable of stopping Eagle’s O this first drive…

    • SteveH

As long as Agholor doesn’t touch it anyhow.

      • Insomniac

He can touch it as long as it stays in his hands. Now getting into the huddle is another issue.

      • CTbirdsguy

you’re getting excessive haha he’s not suddenly 2016 ags. He’s our most explosive player

        • SteveH

He’s had a hell of a start to the game.

    • shah8

      I…missed all the Agholor stuff…

  • Dragon_Eagle

Alright D. No excuses. Shut these guys down and get the ball back.

  • nicolajNN

There might be some room for Wentz to scramble today, the middle of the field seemed quite open on some of the pass plays, on the other hand there was not a lot of pressure on Wentz so might not be needed.

  • sonofdman

Why do they talk over a penalty?

    • Dragon_Eagle

This crew sucks. one of the worst.

  • T_S_O_P

    Holding?

  • Insomniac

We’re getting run on..and I don’t like it even if that run came back.

  • xeynon

Definitely a hold there, and one that was pivotal to the outcome of the play. Good call.

  • sonofdman

    That was dangerous.

  • SteveH

I thought that was a lateral actually.

    • sonofdman

It was close, but no replay that was conclusive.

  • Dragon_Eagle

    THAT’S MY D!!!!

  • xeynon

Goff with the Bradfordesque checkdown throw there.

  • Insomniac

    Curry!!

    • xeynon

If Curry is able to beat Whitworth one-on-one consistently it will be a long day for Goff and co.

  • sonofdman

This announcing crew does suck. It would have been nice to see a replay to see if that pass was backward.

    • Dragon_Eagle

Its not just the announcers. Its the production that makes them more central to the game than necessary. Comment on the game and what’s happening on the field, rather than stroking each other’s egos you fricking clown straps.

      • sonofdman

“Comment on the game and what’s happening on the field, rather than stroking each other’s egos you fricking clown straps.”

-This should be stitched on a pillow and sent to every announcer.

    • A_T_G

      Agreed.

    • A Roy

Troy is getting stale and Buck has stunk for ever.

  • scratcherk

    there u go

  • A_T_G

One official was ready to call that pass a lateral and turnover. I would have liked to see a replay, if not a challenge. Thanks Fox.

    • T_S_O_P

They’ll show it later to stir the pot

    • sonofdman

On the replay that only showed Goff, it looked like it was going backward, but no replay that showed where it landed.

  • nicolajNN

I think Long was lined over the ball on that 3rd down, was really close anyway

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Run the damn ball, Doug.

  • A_T_G

    Smith looks low key hurt.

  • xeynon

I’ve said this before, but Wentz throws the slant as well as any QB I can remember.

  • sonofdman

    Definite PI

  • A_T_G

I like the aggression in the call there.

  • Insomniac

    Yesssss

  • CTbirdsguy

saved by the underthrow. pocket shrunk to 1yd x 1 yd…

  • A_T_G

That was there, after the escape.

    • Insomniac

      Overthrew him this time

    • xeynon

That’s 7 points we’ve left on the field already.

  • xeynon

They should throw more of those 50-50 balls. It seems like Jeffery will either catch it or draw the flag more often than not.

    • Dragon_Eagle

      100% agreed.

    • Allen3000

Or Wentz will badly overthrow it ;(

  • scratcherk

    atta boy ags

  • A_T_G

I think Ags might be a little overhyped to play here.

    • Insomniac

      It’s a home game why wouldn’t he?

  • xeynon

Didn’t look like a false start to me.

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Gotta make that catch.

    • T_S_O_P

      First pro drop?

    • A Roy

      Concur.

  • ChoTime

this team’s success seems to track with Wentz’s heat level.

  • scratcherk

    achilles?

    • CTbirdsguy

      yikes

    • A_T_G

      Gotta be.

      • jshort

        who?

        • A_T_G

          A Ram.

          • sonofdman

I though he was a Greek.

  • Allen3000

    Oh Mack ;(

  • xeynon

Hollins was bound to drop one sooner or later.

  • bobeph

    I guess ajayi is out

  • scratcherk

    another missed td

  • sonofdman

Hollins is going to wait for the second ballot to get in the HOF as punishment for that drop.

  • A_T_G

Mack sucks, put Smith in! Wait, what?

    • Insomniac

That’s not how it works. It’s Marcus Johnson’s turn next.

      • xeynon

        Bring back Paul Turner!

        • Crus57

He hasn’t dropped a pass for the Eagles this season!

  • Insomniac

Mack looked like he wanted to run before he caught it. Rookie mistake.

  • ChoTime

looks like hollins heard the footsteps

    • A Roy

      That’s how I saw it.

    • jshort

no he saw the guy coming.

  • xeynon

So question: with the Wentz overthrow of Jeffery, and that drop by Mack, does that count as 14 points we left on the field, or is it 7 points we left on the field, went back and picked up, and then dropped again?

    • A Roy

      None yet.

    • Insomniac

      It’s the same 7

    • sonofdman

So far 7. If we get a FG, then 4. If we score a TD anyway back to 0. Can only score once on a given possession.

    • Dragon_Eagle

Also factor in that Wentz will throw it to Burton for a TD on the upcoming play. How’s it count?

      • DJH

        Freaky

      • sonofdman

        You are a fucking GENIUS!!!!!!!!

      • A_T_G

        Whoa. Respect.

      • xeynon

Wow… you’d better go buy a lottery ticket right now.

      • A Roy

        Well played.

      • SeanofDead

        Nostradamus eat your heart out

    • A_T_G

      21. Those two TD passes would definitely have opened up a rushing TD as well.

      • sonofdman

Damn. Without those mistakes we would have had more than 30 points after this possession. Oh well.

        • Crus57

no wonder we’re such a high scoring offense

      • xeynon

Points the Eagles leave on the field work kind of like first round picks for the Cowboys I guess.

  • bobeph

    ajayi?

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Told ya 🙂

    • bobeph

      yep

    • wallacemnw

      Nicely played DE!

  • bobeph

wentz is the best qb in the league

  • SteveH

    YEAH WENTZ BABY DO IT

  • SteveH

    FUCKING YES SHOW THESE PUNKS

  • ChoTime

    nasty 😉

  • Allen3000

That was a great, but kind of lucky pass. Excellent catch by Burton too.

    • A Roy

Only spot it could be caught. Not lucky.

      • Crus57

A little lucky Ogletree didn’t turn around though

        • A Roy

Reminds you of some ex-Eagles, doesn’t it?

          • Crus57

is it illegal to put stick-em on the back of their jerseys?

      • Dragon_Eagle

Agree with this. Perfectly placed. Not many QBs are capable and even less are willing to make that throw. That right there is way Wentz is clearly a top QB already.

      • Allen3000

Hence why I said great. It was lucky bc there were 2 defenders and the one guy face guarding could have easily moved his arm a foot to the left and batted it away.

        • xeynon

Yep, but it is as they say a game of inches. The ability to hit a window that small is what separates a good quarterback from a great one.

  • ChoTime

    favre 2.0

    • xeynon

But without the penchant for terrible risk-reward decisions in high leverage situations, so far.

  • GENETiC-FREAK

    Beauty ball!!!

  • xeynon

That looked like a throw into double coverage on first blush, but I think Wentz saw that the defenders had their backs turned and/or weren’t in position to make a play on the ball if he put it there. That is some high-level quarterbacking.

    • sonofdman

      agree

    • Insomniac

Pretty sure he was also picking on the one armed LB too.

    • Allen3000

Very similar to the earlier throw to Celek that drew a pi call.

  • DJH

We are at our best when we are aggressive. So different from seattlebgame

    • Insomniac

Yea. That game was so bizarre.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Shout out to all the Eagles fans in LA that made that timeout necessary.

  • A Roy

    DB finger wag.

  • A_T_G

So the guy that got carted off, anyone know how important he is to the Rams defense?

    • scratcherk

      starting cb

    • A Roy

Well, at a minimum, it’s not good when you lose a starting DB.

    • xeynon

When the Eagles get the ball back I want to see them go after his replacement deep.

  • Insomniac

Oh boy Mills keeping up with Watkins? Damn never thought I would see that.

  • sonofdman

    Robinson played that really well.

  • xeynon

    Gurley is a beast.

    • sonofdman

      true

    • Allen3000

No doubt. Looked like he took a hard hit to the helmetthere

  • sonofdman

    There’s the pass rush!

  • scratcherk

    nice pressure

  • SeanofDead

Either have a beard or don’t Mcvay

    • sonofdman

Cut him a break, he just started shaving this year.

  • sonofdman

Cox and Graham love to meet at the QB!

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Well played Barner.

  • wallacemnw

    NIce KB!

  • A_T_G

4th and 4 at midfield and you are punting. Hm, just accepting their beating, I guess.

    • Dragon_Eagle

Well, McVey is a coaching genius.

    • xeynon

I can’t really blame them the way the Eagles’ D collapsed their offensive line on the third down play.

    • sonofdman

Do anyone els see the Giants punt on 4 and 3 from the Cowboys’ 37 yard line today? Pathetic.

    • Insomniac

Big balls is a genetic thing, can’t be learned or so I was told.

  • SeanofDead

Ogeltree tryin to mix things up

  • scratcherk

hows that not a flag, ogletree getting chippy

  • ChoTime

ags has turned into anice little waterbug

    • xeynon

He’s always been a dangerous, elusive runner in the open field. Until this season he was just remarkably bad at getting himself into it with the ball in his hands.

  • T_S_O_P

Mostly second team DL that stopped last Rams drive

    • wallacemnw

Yeah, that was impressive. Keep it up!

    • xeynon

That’s what you can do when you have DL depth.

  • bobeph

    is ajayi out?

  • SteveH

This is driving me nuts, PLEASE use Ajayi!

    • meteorologist

Time to give up hope :/

    • kajomo

    • A_T_G

Whoa again. You are a wizard.

  • scratcherk

    beauty

  • sonofdman

That move on Brockers was great! It looked like Brockers was slipping on ice.

  • xeynon

Wentz has the same ability to suck the soul out of a defense that Rodgers and Wilson do.

  • scratcherk

    there he is

  • Insomniac

    Damnnnnn

  • CTbirdsguy

EXHIBIT A for AJAYI > BLOUNT

    • Insomniac

They’re both good at what they do. But yes.

  • ChoTime

    love it! rollin rollin

  • Insomniac

Someone give me a box of kleenex. Mack is getting snaps.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Need some yards here at least. Make it easier for Jake.

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Go for it.

  • SeanofDead

no brainer..Carson keeper for the first

    • sonofdman

      Or not 🙂

    • A_T_G

      Or…that.

    • Donald Kalinowski

      lol

  • xeynon

Love it. That’s how you put your dick on the table and say “you’re not beating us.”

    • A_T_G

      Awkward visual, but yes.

      • T_S_O_P

        Lol

  • scratcherk

    nice pick

  • Donald Kalinowski

    Jeez..The balls on Pederson

    • Insomniac

      They’re glorious.

  • sonofdman

    Agressive Doug is back!

  • A Roy

    Where waz that last werk?

  • Dragon_Eagle

    OK. What was that?

    • sonofdman

Who is the TD going to this time?

      • Dragon_Eagle

        FG

        • sonofdman

          BOO

          • Dragon_Eagle

You can blame Ags in a couple minutes.

          • sonofdman

            Should have stuck with Burton!

          • Dragon_Eagle

OH Sorry, that was next possession.

          • sonofdman

            LOL

      • scratcherk

        clement

    • xeynon

Carson’s Nick Foles impression. Hopefully we don’t see it again.

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Run the damn ball!

  • ChoTime

you know in old madden, you were always happy to get to 3d down, because the computer would punt or kick?

  • scratcherk

    fuck ys

  • SteveH

GET THESE FRAUDS OUT OF HERE THE BULLIES ARE BACK BABY

    • A_T_G

What if…they aren’t frauds and we are just this good?

      • Insomniac

But we haven’t beaten anyone good.

  • wallacemnw

    Wow just Wow

  • A Roy

    Fly, Eagles, Fly.

  • A_T_G

    Yes.

  • xeynon

That tied Jurgensen’s single season record.

  • Insomniac

    Who is this Burton guy???????

  • Allen3000

No Ertz, no problem! 3 TD passes to Celek/Burton combo.

    • Insomniac

So what you’re saying is..Ertz was the problem last week?

  • GENETiC-FREAK

Damn that cheer for Burton TD gave me goose bumps! Lets goooo

  • Crus57

So who finishes the season with more TDs, Burton or Blount?

  • Dragon_Eagle

I’m having a lot more fun than last week. I like this better.

  • T_S_O_P

We have only been stopped by a Nellie bobble which turned into an INT.

  • Masked Man

Looking good so far. Time of possession is crazy in the Eagles’ favor.

  • xeynon

The Negadelphian mind trying to digest this is like the average person trying to grasp quantum physics, but it’s true: we have a superstar quarterback.

He’s already one of the best in the game. And he’s only 24.

  • SteveH

HEY DALLAS FANS? ARE YOU WATCHING WHAT A MVP QUARTERBACK LOOKS LIKE!?

  • daveH

Was watching a bit from a PC Richards .. is not on the radio .. think we are doing OK again ….. Seattle v Jags tough D in on the radio

  • Insomniac

Ugh as someone who works in IT, an iPad is a damn computer. Screw you Apple.

    • sonofdman

I hate that commercial so much.

  • A_T_G

    So close Graham.

  • Allen3000

The Rams defense is better than Seattle’s, correct? I know playing in Seattle is a tough task, but our offense is light years better today.

  • T_S_O_P

    Robinson

  • A_T_G

    Ouch.

  • Allen3000

    Jenkins, wt??!!

  • sonofdman

    Why did McCloud stop?

  • Insomniac

    Holy shit that was bad

  • xeynon

Terrible play by McLeod there. Not only does he blow the coverage, he gives up on the play and doesn’t hustle downfield to try to make the tackle.

    • Insomniac

People call me crazy when I question his effort and wanting to replace him.

      • xeynon

He was the guy who ran down that receiver and forced a fumble out of the end zone earlier this season. First time I’ve seen him loaf like that.

        • Insomniac

          He’s very up and down.

        • sonofdman

He also chased down Baldwin and forced him out at the 1 yard line last week.

  • SeanofDead

McLeod straight gave up after allowing the completion…not a good look

  • Someguy77

McLeod is such a liability in coverage

  • xeynon

Bradham you HAVE to catch that.

    • Insomniac

Give him a break he had to chase down Kupp.

    • FairOaks

Terrible pass, WR was wide open in the end zone. But that was a major gift we declined.

  • sonofdman

Oh shit. Hold on to that Bradham.

  • jshort

    Got to make that play

    • A Roy

      That’s a play champions make.

  • sonofdman

Bradham still balling, but he should have caught that int

  • T_S_O_P

27 owes us. 53 should of paid the debt

  • SteveH

JESUS CHRIST DEFENSE WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT (JENKINS, BRADHAM)

  • Allen3000

The back 7 is looking increasingly sloppy. Terrible pursuit angles, poor job of wrapping up at times, dropped interceptions.

    • Dragon_Eagle

One of the few times this season, poor tackling cost us.

      • wallacemnw

True, but that was some spectacularly bad tackling

        • Dragon_Eagle

          You have forgotten 2010-2015.

    • Insomniac

We’re one center fielder safety away from this defense from being dominant to possibly all time. McLeod is too slow and small to cover WRs.

      • A_T_G

Douglas next year, mark it down.

        • Insomniac

I doubt next year. McLeod costs too much to let go next year. In 2 years? I can see it happening unless Mills gets converted first.

  • GENETiC-FREAK

    Hicks makes that pick easy

  • FairOaks

Ball was already across the plane when Kupp stepped OB, I think.

That pass was in stride, and that’s a tough tackle for Mills. Previous pass was not in stride, and Gurley had to reach back for it, and got blasted. That was the difference on those two throws.

  • SteveH

How frustrating. Had a chance to atone for the terrible tackle by Jenkins with a pick and we drop that. Christ almighty this team.

  • A_T_G

Its okay. They got a big play, but couldn’t run it and struggled outside of that one.

  • Someguy77

Eagles have been picking on 43 all game and Rams are targeting MCLeod

  • scratcherk

    that was a frustrating drive.

  • SteveH

So tilting. Sloppy play is coming back. Get it together.

  • DJH

Trying to stay positive, but can’t have shit like that from the defense and expect to go far in playoffs.

  • SteveH

More self inflicted wounds. Agholor stone hands, Jenkins missed tackle. Bradham dropped int. That’s the Rams entire scoring right there.

    FUCK.

  • teltschikfakeout88

Damn gave up a big play due to 2 missed tackles… that was on 3rd and 10…then had a pic opportunity and couldn’t come up with it…

  • SteveH

    MAKE THEM BEAT US.

  • xeynon

It looks like they don’t have any answers for our offense, so I’m confident we can keep scoring if need be. But I’d really like to see the defense play better. The Rams haven’t even been making great plays to beat us, our tackling and coverages have just been sloppy AF.

  • sonofdman

    Clement > Ajayi!

  • SteveH

Torrey smith couldn’t catch a cold sometimes.

    • Insomniac

Or maybe the cold can’t catch him?

  • Insomniac

Did Doug read Igglesblitz this week? Clement and Hollins getting more playing time???

  • SteveH

    Vaitai got beat bad again.

    • xeynon

That was more on Warmack than Vaitai. Pass rusher went inside, the guard has to pick him up.

      • SteveH

Thats bullshit, he beat Vaitai clean on the inside, who else was Vaitai supposed to block on that play? The air? Warmack could have done better but Vaitai didn’t do shit to wash him down the line.

        • xeynon

We don’t know what the blocking assignments on the play were, but Warmack was blocking that gap which indicates it was probably his responsibility. The offensive tackle is usually supposed to take care of the outside rush and make sure the pocket remains intact.

  • xeynon

Why is Warmack in the game?!?!?

  • meteorologist

    Why is chance warmack in???

    • Dragon_Eagle

      Uh, what????

      • meteorologist

He was in for the sack! ROBERT Quinn split him and Vaitai for the sack

    • T_S_O_P

      X 2

  • SteveH

Don’t throw the screen to Blount, jesus christ it’d take him 5 or 6 seconds just to run the 20 yards. Are they fucking allergic to using Ajayi??

  • ConcussedFB

    Wiz is out,unspecified injury.

    • Dragon_Eagle

      Thanks for update.

    • meteorologist

      Ahhh! No

    • GENETiC-FREAK

Ah is that how Quinn got the sack or was it because of the sack

    • nicolajNN

Eskin was saying earlier Wiz had an ankle injury, and it got taped up

  • Allen3000

Yeah Blount is not the guy you want trying to get 20+ yards on screen…

    • SteveH

Seriously, it’s time to relegate Blount to situations and only certain games where we want to mash rather than slash. The stubbornness is killing me.

      • T_S_O_P

Duce may have a spot for older heavier backs.

  • sonofdman

Gibson with the nice special teams tackle.

  • DJH

How about our defense makes a big play? A TO would be nice guys

  • teltschikfakeout88

11 yards running the ball on first play of drive and then Smith can’t come back in the back shoulder throw, then a sack…man hope that big play by Kupp isn’t a spark… need the D to force a 3 and out…

  • T_S_O_P

    Is Wis injured?

    • DJH

      Yes ankle

  • wallacemnw

If Wis is hurt we are in trouble

    • xeynon

They’re missing Andrew Whitworth which is a bigger loss.

Wisniewski is our second weakest OL after Vaitai.

      • wallacemnw

Warmack is a disaster is my point

        • xeynon

He’s bad, but it’s easier to compensate for a bad guard than a bad tackle.

  • scratcherk

    D’s time to step up

  • scratcherk

    nice job there

  • scratcherk

    YES YES YES

  • Dragon_Eagle

    That’s a QB hit.

  • scratcherk

    thats gotta hurt

    • scratcherk

      that much cox on you

  • A_T_G

    Big stop.

  • sonofdman

    Great penetration by Cox.

  • SeanofDead

Cox almost took his head “Goff”—dad joke

  • Dragon_Eagle

Wiz or Warmack? Earn your money stupid Fox crew!!!

    • scratcherk

      chance

  • SteveH

Ajayi once again. PLEASE limit Blounts snaps.

    • sonofdman

Ajayi is greater than or equal to Smallwood.

      • A_T_G

        Understatement.

  • Allen3000

    Yes, more Ajayi please.

  • A_T_G

Does Troy realize there is a game taking place?

    • Insomniac

      No

  • SteveH

Warmack got destroyed on that run block.

    • xeynon

He didn’t get any movement at all, but the run wasn’t going anywhere anyway.

  • SeanofDead

That formation was weird there..Celek lined up out wide

  • Donald Kalinowski

Stop trying to make Chance Warmack happen. It’s not going to happen

    • FairOaks

who would you prefer? Seumalo ?

    • Insomniac

There’s only Seumalo left who isn’t really good at anything apparently.

    • xeynon

      I doubt it’s by choice.

      • sonofdman

It almost like it is by chance.

        • xeynon

          Grrrr. Take my upvote.

    • ChoTime

      so you’re saying there’s not a ….

  • jshort

they just wont stick with the running game

  • SteveH

I hope Wiz can come back because Warmack is a massive step back.

  • sonofdman

Gibson is playing well as a gunner on the punt team.

    • Insomniac

It’d be nice to see that speed on offense.

  • teltschikfakeout88

Terrible RPO on the first down after the nice run by Ajayi…

  • Dragon_Eagle

Flipped field position. Take it. Now need a stop.

  • sonofdman

    Bradham with another almost int

  • scratcherk

    bradham again

  • SeanofDead

    Bradham needs that Stick’um

  • T_S_O_P

    Nice punt Doñnie

  • SteveH

Omg Bradham… This team is going to give me a coronary.

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Great tackle!!!

  • Insomniac

Get Bradham on whatever Ags did this offseason.

  • nicolajNN

Wiz has an ankle injury, return is probable

  • Allen3000

If Bradham had hands, he’d be Urlacherzzzzzzz

    • xeynon

That is an old school Eagles Message Board reference.

      • Allen3000

        Hey, he’s pretty dominant otherwise…

      • A Roy

Wonder how Iron Eagle is doing these days..

  • scratcherk

    mcleod making up for it

  • sonofdman

    Nice play there by McCleod!

  • GENETiC-FREAK

Bradham gotta make them pay man

  • SteveH

lol what that spot, are you kidding me?

  • Dragon_Eagle

    WTF?

    • FairOaks

Don’t think it was a good spot at all, unless the WR reached out with the ball.

… which he didn’t. Spot should be a half yard back of that.

      • xeynon

He didn’t. It was almost a full yard short.

  • sonofdman

    Challenge that shit

  • SeanofDead

Really nice D all around there…was waiting for someone to get picked

  • xeynon

    That’s an atrocious spot.

  • Allen3000

    That’s utter bullspit

  • SteveH

    You must be kidding me.

  • scratcherk

    Not even FUCKIGN CLOSE

  • SteveH

That line judge is on the dole what the hell lol.

  • scratcherk

did they judge that spot from the goodyear blimp?

    • T_S_O_P

Yes, the one covering the Seattle game

  • GENETiC-FREAK

haha what kind of spot is that??

  • A Roy

    Shouldn’t have to challenge …Basic Officiating 101

    • SteveH

At least it won’t cost us a challenge, we’ll win and still have our 2 for the 2nd half.

      • scratcherk

unless we lose the next challenge.

  • scratcherk

now what will happen if doug does not challenge this spot…. philarmeggedon?

  • A_T_G

He can still challenge since the play was before the 2 minute, even though we are at it now, right?

    • scratcherk

      good question…

    • sonofdman

      yes

    • SteveH

Yes, I’m not sure if it’s a booth review or a coaches challenge but either way it doesn’t matter.

    • Dragon_Eagle

Pretty sure, you can challenge plays up to the 2 minute warning.

      • A_T_G

Right, by when the play happened, not when the flag gets thrown. That was my question.

        • Dragon_Eagle

          Yes, by the play.

  • nicolajNN

Beat writers saying Doug is indeed challenging it

  • SteveH

The call from the official should be; “well guys we fucked up massively, sorry about that, we’re putting the ball back where it belongs.”

    • Dragon_Eagle

      Sounds like a Geico commercial.

    • sonofdman

      Ajayi >>> the officials!

  • Dragon_Eagle

And the home crowd cheers the reversal.

  • xeynon

You know what I’d really like? A punt returner who was a threat to do anything at all with the ball when he caught it. I really miss Sproles.

  • DJH

Rams are in this game bc of that fluke int and the fluke 65 yard play. Sickening that they have 14 pts

  • scratcherk

    maybe go away from 22

  • A_T_G

Sorry, Jones, but we do not have the best punter in this game.

  • Donald Kalinowski

Alshon needs to earn that $13 million

    • sonofdman

      Trumain Johnson is good.

  • xeynon

We had the one breakdown on the Quinn sack, but for the most part pass protection has been outstanding so far.

  • Donald Kalinowski

    Heh Torrey did something

  • T_S_O_P

11 needs to tuck and run a couple

  • ChoTime

    god his short touch

    • xeynon

It comes and goes. One of the biggest remaining weaknesses in his game.

This offseason he should be doing drills to master those touch passes along with the deep throws.

  • sonofdman

Let’s convert this and make LA pay for calling that time out

    • FairOaks

      Check

    • scratcherk

      there you go!

  • SteveH

Ugggghhhhhh that was Warmack again who blew the block on Brockers.

  • ConcussedFB

    Nice block, Warmack, damn

  • scratcherk

why is warmack in? wiz injured?

    • GENETiC-FREAK

      Yeah Wiz ankle

    • Masked Man

Yeah. What happened to Wiz? Don’t like taking a chance with Chance.

  • sonofdman

    Oh Yeah!

  • scratcherk

    YES YES YES FUCK YES

  • SteveH

    FUCKIN A WENTZ IS AWESOME

  • sonofdman

Smith > Hollins? Just trying to keep track.

  • SteveH

Wentz is the man, that was fucking beautiful.

  • ChoTime

    Wentz you the man!

  • Insomniac

    Smithz > Hollinz???

  • scratcherk

    Burton DOING WORK

  • sonofdman

    Another great play by Wentz!

  • GENETiC-FREAK

Smith got wheels when he puts it on. He changed gears quick.

    • meteorologist

Maybe he was dealing with a hammy for a few weeks?

  • xeynon

I had flashbacks to the Seattle fumble last week… please don’t do that again Wentz.

  • Allen3000

Wentz’s pocket awareness and poise is just incredible. It’s part of what separates him from most other qbs.

    • xeynon

Yeah, it’s uncanny, and something you can’t teach.

  • scratcherk

mcleod is the other 23 dummy

  • sonofdman

Dragon_Eagle – is that what you were talking about?

  • xeynon

Okay, let’s just get the figgie. 10 point lead at halftime isn’t bad.

  • SteveH

Whatya wanna bet that was Warmack who gave up the pressure on that last play.

    • xeynon

I’d like to see them run a few more bootlegs to get Wentz out of the pocket. That would’ve been a perfect play to do it to since the ball was on the left hash.

      • SteveH

Yeah they’re going to have to adjust to Warmack. He’s unreliable.

        • xeynon

Indeed. Big V has mostly played pretty well but I think it really helps him to have a dependable veteran on his right who will be assignment sound and won’t hang him out to dry or force him to make up for mistakes. Vaitai + Warmack is not a combo I want to have to roll with long if we can avoid it.

          • SteveH

Warmack got blown up on two different runs too, like badly blown up.

          • xeynon

Yeah. And run blocking is supposed to be his strength.

Seriously, watching the guy I’m mystified as to how he was a top 10 pick.

          • SteveH

He was considered a can’t miss prospect too, top guard in the draft, plug and play for 10 years kind of guy.

OL depth is an issue for us that we need to address because once you get to the 7th guy it’s a mess.

          • xeynon

Agreed, I’ll be miffed if they don’t draft at least two linemen next spring, one of them in the first three rounds.

          • Dragon_Eagle

OL is the top priority IMO. Gotta consistently invest in it.

          • xeynon

One of the best things Andy did was draft offensive linemen every year.

  • Insomniac

Stop throwing high to Torrey holy shit

    • sonofdman

      I think that was Agohlar

      • Insomniac

        Oh

      • A_T_G

Yep. Smith was the “target” on third down.

    • xeynon

The high throw isn’t bad since it’s likely to either be a TD or an incompletion so the downside risk is low. But Agholor and Smith aren’t the kind of receivers who are ideally suited to it.

      • Insomniac

Torrey blatantly sucks at it and they’ve tried it multiple times in the past.

        • xeynon

          Yeah, I can’t disagree.

Smith is as good as gone after this season.

        • FairOaks

Yes, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Rams had more coverage on the other receivers.

  • SteveH

This is so frustrating. Basically all of the Rams points come down to 3 mistakes. Agholor stonehands, Malcom whifftackle, and Nigel Butterfingers.

    • nathaniel driver

Ughh, that was rough watching live…

  • SteveH

If Wizniewski comes back in the 2nd half we’re going to smash them. Warmack is a walking disaster.

I want Ajayi to get more touches as well, he’s so clearly superior to Blount.

Why don’t we just use Blount as a closer? Someone to mash on defenses and wear them down.

  • nathaniel driver

I’m at the game – this place is at least 50% Eagles fan. Awesome atmosphere for the Eagles!

    • SteveH

Yo yell at Malcom about that tackle attempt. Woof!

  • Insomniac

In other news, Seahawks are getting handled by the Jags. Jags newest team to be feared?

    • Masked Man

      Hawks miss that home cooking.

    • scratcherk

they seem much more legit than theyve ever been

    • SteveH

Seahawks away from home aren’t the same.

      • Insomniac

That’s true but they’re making him look like very bad.

        • DJH

Curious how hey are plying him. He has owned the eagles.

    • FairOaks

Their defense is good. They will need to fix the Bortles problem in the offseason though.

Don’t fear them for the Eagles because we can’t play them until the Super Bowl.

      • Insomniac

There’s a chance. I have them as a dark horse because that defense is crazy good.

  • scratcherk

Wow just got a John Elway comparison.

    • Dragon_Eagle

      High, high praise indeed.

    • Masked Man

Yeah, I watched Elway play. I can see that.

      • Dragon_Eagle

Same here. I’d always been thinking Favre in Big Ben’s body, but Wentz doesn’t make the boatload of gunslinger mistakes Favre did. He does make some incredible plays with his feet and still gets off great passes. That’s Elway.

        • Masked Man

When they finally gave him a run game he won two Supes late in his career. Always a great playmaker and passer. Famous for the come back wins.

        • xeynon

I also think a bigger Aaron Rodgers is not a bad comparison.

          • Masked Man

Rodgers and Elway are a lot alike IMO.

    • xeynon

From Howie Long. Who was an all-time great in his own right, and played against Elway.

      It is indeed high praise.

  • SteveH

So I think Hollins had his first drop of the year today. And only the 2nd incompletion when he’s been targeted.

  • DJH

Doug needs to stay aggressive. That’s when Carson and the offense at their best. Can’t get conservative. Team stalls.

  • A_T_G

    Yeah, there’s that too.

  • Insomniac

Shady in another Snow Bowl, also balled out in said game too.

    • meteorologist

      Happy for him

  • xeynon

Goff looks like he has the potential to be a very solid NFL QB, but I don’t see the same special talent that Wentz has.

  • SteveH

So we gonna talk about the moment Wentz has a ball clang off someones stone hands it gets picked, but we have 2 of Goff’s passes literally in our hands but can’t come up with a takeaway? It’s like Wentz’s passes have magnets that match the opposing teams gloves.

  • DJH

Who makes the better half time adjustments?

  • scratcherk

    i hope we stay aggressive.

  • scratcherk

    WTF IS THAT.

  • xeynon

Once again, Gurley is a beast.

  • scratcherk

GET YOUR FUCKING HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES>

  • A_T_G

    Contain Currying.

    • xeynon

Gurley is a big guy who looks like he shouldn’t be able to get the edge.. but he can.

      • sonofdman

        he fast

  • Dragon_Eagle

Ugh. Gotta make those. Not going to arm tackle Gurley.

  • SteveH

Oh come on guys… Come on… Just the sloppiness… Jesus Christ.

  • A_T_G

Kendricks with a nice play there.

  • SeanofDead

    Alright Schwarzie..give them another look

  • scratcherk

    strange coverage.

  • xeynon

Can’t let them get the running game going, Goff is much more dangerous if he can work off of play action.

  • Ryan Rambo

    FAWK

  • SteveH

What the fuck is happening with the run defense today.

  • SeanofDead

eh…gotta give it to the Rams there…wont be cakewalk the rest of the way

  • sonofdman

Well, that was not a good way to start the second half.

  • xeynon

McVay’s halftime adjustments clearly worked. Ball’s now in Schwartz’s court.

  • A_T_G

    That TD pass was shit.

  • scratcherk

seems impossible to stop that play

  • ChoTime

whelp. guess it’s going to be a real football game after all.

  • SteveH

That was pukeworthy. The defense is playing like shit today.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Rams made the plays. We need to responds, lads.

  • SteveH

I can’t wait until this west coast trip is over. We seem like shells of ourselves out on the coast.

    • ChoTime

coincidentally when we play our two strongest opponents at their stadia?

      • xeynon

Yeah.. people gotta remember the other guys get paid too.

      • A_T_G

        Upvote for stadia.

  • Ryan Rambo

We knew it wasn’t gonna be a blowout realistically. We need to settle down on both lines and give Carson time to make some back breaking plays to put these assholes to bed for good.

  • SteveH

Worst part about that is it could have started with a TFL but Curry whiffed in the backfield, then Mcloed took a shit angle on a chance to limit the gain.

  • SteveH

So offense went INT (off Agholors hands) TD TD TD FG, what’s the defenses excuse?

    • xeynon

The Rams are good. Todd Gurley is really good. They’re going to make some plays. But yeah, we’ve given some gifts.

    • Dragon_Eagle

Rams have some serious talent and a good player caller. They are not easy to shut down. And if you make mistakes, you pay.

  • meteorologist

Wentz had 30 PASS ATTEMPTS in the 1st half??

  • meteorologist

    Seumalo in at LG

    • TXEaglesFan

      Oh shit

      • xeynon

I think Seumalo is better than Warmack.

    • scratcherk

      goodness..

  • Ryan Rambo

    Stop with the morale-killing plays.

  • xeynon

Time to fake one of these short throws and go for the double move.

  • wallacemnw

I hate that play to Ags it never works

    • Ryan Rambo

      NEVER

    • Dragon_Eagle

Got TD on it 2 weeks ago, didn’t we?

      • Ryan Rambo

I only remember the negative stuff!

      • wallacemnw

I think that was bit different call though

    • daveH

I’m not watching. .so I’ll guess that it was a not done quick enough sideways pass to Ags 1 or 2 years behind the LOS ….

  • Dragon_Eagle

3 and out. Not fucking good.

  • scratcherk

    wow really hung in there.

  • ChoTime

damn, these bastards are stepping up

  • Ryan Rambo

    Well FUCK

  • sonofdman

    fuck

  • xeynon

    Goddamnit.

  • scratcherk

    fuck.

  • scratcherk

    didnt clean that shit up

  • Ryan Rambo

    Countess of all FUCKERS

    • A_T_G

Why do I recognize that name?

  • Insomniac

    What

    • sonofdman

      the

      • Insomniac

        Duck

        • Dragon_Eagle

          say?

  • scratcherk

    game on bitches.

  • ChoTime

interesting, football outsiders has their ST ranked ahead of ours, and it’s showing up

    • xeynon

Our ST aren’t very good this year – they’ve been at best a non-liability. They could cost us this game.

      • ChoTime

fwiw, they have us at 10 and them at 2

  • xeynon

Clement fucked up there, but the coaches have to take some blame for that too.

    • Someguy77

      It was 43. Not clement

      Doubled the wrong guy

      • sonofdman

Sproles? I think he is on IR.

        • A_T_G

That explains why he couldn’t get to the blitzes.

    • kajomo

I thought it was Kamu. He doubled a guy and let his guy go free

  • meteorologist

Gonna be a helluva game if the Rams keep it up

  • DarthBanner

Starting to look not nearly as good as they think they are.

  • GENETiC-FREAK

    FFS!!!

  • TXEaglesFan

Well maybe the talk of losing Fipp to a head coach job will stop now. They’ve been very average lately.

    • xeynon

The lack of big plays in the return game can be attributed to the lack of a good returner, but stuff like long kick returns and blocked kicks should not happen with a well-coached unit.

  • Tumtum

    Former Eagles make me angry

    • Insomniac

Byron Maxwell last week and Blake Countess this week. All linked to Chip Kelly.

  • kajomo

    Give Ajayi the fucking ball

    • Someguy77

Amen. No passing it 3 downs here

  • Ryan Rambo

    Rally UP Birds!!!!

  • TO BLACKS

Who is this loser writer Lawlor?

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Run the damn ball, Andy!!!

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Seomalo at guard now?

    • xeynon

      Better option than Warmack.

  • teltschikfakeout88

Wow… huge ST play by rams…on the road and big play on the block… not looking good…

  • teltschikfakeout88

    First one to 30’wins

  • sonofdman

Someone should hire the Rams ST coordinator as a head coach (instead of say DeFilipo or Schwartz).

    • scratcherk

      been there done that.

  • SeanofDead

We aren’t losing because of the lack of running
Putting up 24 points in the first half, and it ain’t fait to criticize how they got there

    • Insomniac

DBs not having the best game.

    • scratcherk

      this is on the D.

  • xeynon

Seattle getting beaten by 14 by the Jags and getting lit up by Bortles… letdown game?

  • Dragon_Eagle

    What a throw.

  • scratcherk

wow that was scary and happy all at once.

    • wallacemnw

      Yes

  • sonofdman

    Wow! What a throw!

  • wallacemnw

    That is a great throw

  • Donald Kalinowski

    COME ON WENTZ

  • xeynon

There’s a good chance we’re not yet a complete enough team to win the Super Bowl.

But Wentz is a stud. The future is bright.

  • scratcherk

play action doesnt work if you dont run

  • ChoTime

kind of feels like wentz has to win this one for us

    • scratcherk

esp if we dont run it

      • Insomniac

and if our defense doesn’t do anything

  • xeynon

Seumalo vs. Donald is not a good matchup for us.

    • scratcherk

      anyone vs donald

      • Insomniac

He’s the closest thing to a human wrecking ball

  • Someguy77

    IS Wiz hurt?

    • Insomniac

      Yes

      • A_T_G

At some point they might mention it?

        • Insomniac

          Nope.

    • GENETiC-FREAK

      Yes haha

  • meteorologist

    19 HITS!?!?

Some of that must be Wentz holding the ball but still CRAZY

  • Someguy77

    Wentz is taking a beating

  • Someguy77

Lots of blitzing by the Rams

  • sonofdman

    Jeffery should catch that

  • scratcherk

    ugh, need to catch that.

  • bobeph

    on the money, drop

  • xeynon

$13 million receiver’s gotta make that catch.

  • SeanofDead

    taunting sob

  • scratcherk

    there u go.

  • sonofdman

    LOL.

  • xeynon

    Wow, what a dumb penalty.

  • scratcherk

    ill take t all day

  • bobeph

    burton time

  • Dragon_Eagle

Good to know that other teams have players that do stupid things.

  • ChoTime

    aj, you………..

  • Donald Kalinowski

    I’ll take it lol

  • Insomniac

    We’ll take it.

  • SeanofDead

That’s pretty cheap…he was just jawing..but Ill take it all day everyday

    • sonofdman

He must have said something unexpected.

    • xeynon

Don’t know what he said. I think there’s some jawing the refs won’t let go.

  • A_T_G

    Make the penalty hurt…

  • bobeph

    burton time still

  • ChoTime

waht did he use the n word or sometingg

    • Dragon_Eagle

Only thing I can think of. Something stupid like that.

  • sonofdman

    Good play! Late hit!

  • scratcherk

    LATE HIT

  • xeynon

    Late hit.

  • bobeph

    larams are stupid

  • scratcherk

    BLOUNT IT IN.

  • A_T_G

That was close too, but okay.

    • sonofdman

You could hear the whistle well before the last guy came in with the hit.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Isn’t that late hit, half way to ejection?

  • bobeph

they are trying to gi ve us the game, just like the eagles do sometimes

  • meteorologist

    “let’s go eagles” chants lol

  • bobeph

    wentz got nailed

  • scratcherk

    got walloped.

  • sonofdman

    God dammit

  • bobeph

    lanes holding all game

  • xeynon

Lane Johnson is not having his best game today.

  • sonofdman

    Nothing there. what hold?

    • Dragon_Eagle

Seriously. Didn’t see a thing there.

  • Insomniac

No cameras on Wade Phillips? I know he can get pretty red.

    • Donald Kalinowski

I love Wade Phillips. I wish he was in the AFC.

  • A_T_G

That was a sneaky good run.

  • scratcherk

atta boy clement, always uses his blockers smartly

  • SeanofDead

    Nice Clement..running strong

  • bobeph

    runt it again, and again

  • ChoTime

    if that didn’t break a rib…

  • xeynon

Have said before, I love how Clement runs. He reads his blocks so well, and you almost never see him lose yards.

  • bobeph

    go for it

  • Ryan Rambo

    WOW

  • scratcherk

    going for it????

  • sonofdman

    DOUG!

  • Dragon_Eagle

Oh boy. Big balls brought them this week.

  • Ryan Rambo

    Get the 3 Doug

  • bobeph

goood call here, not really I’d take the pts

  • scratcherk

    WHATTTT

    • daveH

What happened ??? I’m on side of the Long Island Expressway !!

      • scratcherk

went for it on 4th and goal. jeffrey with a sweet catch

      • Dragon_Eagle

Wentz happened. TD to Alshon that had no business being a TD.

  • sonofdman

    HOLY SHIT!!!!! WHAT A CATCH!

  • scratcherk

    BIG BALLLLLLS

  • scratcherk

    BIG TESTICLESSSSS

  • SeanofDead

    DOUGIE BIG BALLS STRIKES AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A_T_G

    Was that actually to Jeffrey?

  • Ryan Rambo

I knew they’d make it. (sarcasm)

  • xeynon

    Big Balls Doug.

I would’ve taken the 3, but I’ll certainly take this. That was a huge play by Jeffery.

  • scratcherk

    BIG HAIRY SALTY NUTTTTTS DOUGHGGHGHGHG

  • Allen3000

I wouldn’t have called it, but I’ll take it! WOW!!!

  • ChoTime

that was close. I decided before the play I was cool with the call. it was close!

    • meteorologist

Same. Loved the decision.. before the play

  • Insomniac

Brb adding another offering to the shrine of big balls Doug

  • Ryan Rambo
  • xeynon

Since they never get their due unless they screw up: great work by the OL there. Wentz could’ve read a book back there before making that throw.

    • ChoTime

there have been several plays like that. I was surprised CW didn’t take off, actually

      • xeynon

Not taking off is part of what makes him special. I think a QB with less poise and mental acuity does take off there.

        • ChoTime

don’t you think he could have made it? that pass was pretty low% imo

  • SeanofDead

That’s gotta be infuriating for a Ram’s fan..assuming they exist of course

    • Dragon_Eagle

They’ll be Warriors, Yankees, or Russian ballet fans soon depending on next month’s trend.

    • ChoTime

I think it must be really tough on the D. it probably almost feels like cheating to them

    • Insomniac

      Nothing new for actors.

  • SteveH

Wentz is playing out of his goddamn mind, this is some action hero shit.

    • meteorologist

Reminds me of Russ Wilson last game. In a Wentz kinda way

  • sonofdman

Oh Shit. Carson, get out of the tent please.

    • ChoTime

like I said, if that hit didn’t break something he must be made out of rubber

      • ChoTime

probably would have literally killed me

  • A_T_G

    Oh no

  • Patrick

Time for the defense to win us this game. Shut shit down! Especially if Wentz is out.

  • SteveH

Wentz will return. This is some statement shit right here.

  • sonofdman

Joe Buck forgot he is not supposed to be rooting for a team for a second. He just said that it was a terrible call on Trumain Johnson.

    • xeynon

FWIW, I don’t think he meant it in a “the refs screwed up” way, I think he was saying it was a terrible penalty for Johnson to take, which it unquestionably was.

      • sonofdman

Exactly right. He just sounded like a fan when he said it, then at the very end added “for the Rams”.

  • meteorologist

Anyone see they said 19 QB hits ALREADY?!! What do we make of that?

    • SteveH

Wizniewski is out and both Seumalo and Warmack are garbage.

      • meteorologist

But that’s still like .. unheard of stuff

      • CTbirdsguy

I’d like to think that with 3/5 above-average (pro bowl level) linemen we dont have our franchise QB get hit 19 hits in 3 quarters

      • kajomo

        What happened to Wiz

    • ChoTime

it means Wentz isn’t getting out of bed tomorrow

  • Dragon_Eagle

So, Wentz just set the franchise record for TD passes in a season, correct?

    • scratcherk

      yep

    • GENETiC-FREAK

      Yip 33 i think now.

    • sonofdman

      yes

    • Crus57

Yup, 33 and counting I believe

  • SteveH

    Fuuuuuuck.

    • Dragon_Eagle

      ^2

  • A_T_G

Guess we will run it now…

    • meteorologist

Nah time for Foles #revenge game lol

  • SteveH

    WHAT IS THIS RUN DEFENSE

  • xeynon

Jesus Christ, you know the run to Gurley is coming. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER D.

  • meteorologist

    #FolesRevengeGame

  • sonofdman

With Wentz potentially out, we need the D to step out now.

  • Someguy77

    McLEod has been garbage today

  • sonofdman

    Huge hold on Graham.

  • SteveH

Jesus christ, the defense, jesus christ, jesus christ, what is happening out there.

  • Allen3000

    That was a damn hold

  • CTbirdsguy

    Schwartz is getting swirl-eed

  • Someguy77

Really miss Hicks and playing a base 4-3 against this Rams offense

  • Patrick

They’re just moving it without any issues. Without Wentz shit is over. Pretty concerning our defense seems to fall apart towards the end of seasons.

  • SteveH

This is so sad, the first half sloppiness, the blocked punt, we should be dominating this game.

    • sonofdman

You have to give the Rams some credit. They are good.

      • SteveH

I’m not going to give the Rams credit for Agholors stone hands, Malcom Jenkins pathetic tackle attempt, Bradhams dropped interception, or Corey Clement forgetting how to block.

        • sonofdman

How about giving the Rams credit for their DB not having stone hands, Kupp making a nice move to make Jenkins miss, or overloading the line to get a punt block?

    • Insomniac

Not really. DBs aren’t playing well against a good offense.

  • ChoTime

looks like Foles is going to have to represent.

  • xeynon

This loss is going to be on the defense/ST.

The O guts out an unbelievable drive, giving them plenty of time to rest and adjust, and they just fold like a cheap suit on the ensuing drive.

    Infuriating.

  • kajomo

Darby has been absolutely useless since he came back

  • ChoTime

maybe once foles is in, dug will remember about the _three_ good running backs we have

    • xeynon

If Foles is in, I think we’re fucked.

  • DJH

I thought this was a playoff caliber defense. Seattle struggling today and rams walking all over us. Bad.

  • xeynon

McVay owned our defense when he was with the Redskins and he still does.

  • SteveH

The most concerning thing about this is how easily they’re running on us. It’s just way too easy. I have no idea what’s happening.

    • A_T_G

      They are holding.

    • xeynon

Just great coaching. McVay clearly has a good sense for how to attack our defense.

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Dammit

  • Insomniac

    Oh no

  • SteveH

This is embarrassing. What a failure by the defense.

  • TXEaglesFan

Our Dtackles didn’t show up today

    • SteveH

Nobody has shown up on defense today. We had our chances.

    • Insomniac

      Defense didn’t show up today.

  • Someguy77

Rams OL is just whooping the Eagles DL

  • Dragon_Eagle

    Someone please shut Buck up.

  • Crus57

That was a terrible angle by 21, like he had no idea Gurley is fast

    • Insomniac

      That was Robinson

  • ChoTime

gurley’s speed has turned a few plays on us.

    • SteveH

You’d think he was Bo Jackson. This is pitiful. Continuation of last week. Sloppy, playing down to standards.

      • xeynon

He’s not far from Bo Jackson, honestly.

    • xeynon

Our defense should’ve been coached to expect that. They’ve let him get outside on us way too much.

  • sonofdman

1 yard short. Buck is a piece of shit cheering for the Rams

  • Allen3000

Where the fu#* are our db’s???

This hasn’t been an issue all season…seriously what is going on with this team??!

  • Someguy77

Goes back to not being able to play base 4-3 with Hicks or a solid MLB. Too much big nickel

  • GENETiC-FREAK

Are you kidding me! Wheres the D at man

  • scratcherk

nick foles will not be winning shit for us unfort

  • TO BLACKS

Merrill Reese is horrible. He makes bad call after bad call.

  • Someguy77

Mcvay has made some great adjustments and Schwartz hasn’t been able to ciunter

    • Insomniac

I don’t think we have the tools to stop Gurley.

      • Someguy77

He has had ridiculous holes all day though. This dL is playing against the run like they did last year

  • SteveH

I’m so disappointed. Here’s Wentz gutting it out throwing TD’s while injured, trying to carry the team on his back, and the defense gives up a drive like that. Just gutless.

  • sonofdman

With Wentz, I like our chances in a shootout. With Foles, I’m not feeling confident.

  • Someguy77

Lots of attacking the edges on run plays today

    • ChoTime

why wouldn’t you attack the cbs whenever you can, though?

  • ChoTime

plenty of time, but the team needs to change the way things are going. looks like the Rams have figured out how to attack this D though. those missed interceptions might end up being the difference.

  • Allen3000

Why is BG pinching down so far inside??

    • A_T_G

Gotta guess a little down there.

  • TXEaglesFan

    Wentz our with knee

    • Masked Man

      Whole fourth quarter left.

  • CTbirdsguy

Graham was single-blocked by a TE, he just bull rushed towards the middle giving an easy cutback

  • daveH

I wonder what T Law is doing now … since i all literally pulled over on the LIE trying to not stresssssss out .. does he go to games or have a split of soft Suu to chuck at his tv …
    ..
Maybe i should invest soft stuffed animal like stuff for fans to chick Addy their tv .. fake rocks, stuiffed bricks …

    • SteveH

I’m not even angry right now, just disappointed. The Rams are making our defense look like fools. Our QB is out there sacrificing his body to get us over the finish line and our guys look like they’re still in preseason.

  • scratcherk

    wentz ruled out

  • scratcherk

    foles time

  • A_T_G

    Wentz won’t return, knee injury.

  • kajomo

    Wentz apparent knee injury

    • ChoTime

ug!!! okay, next man up. Let’s see what you got, Nick.

  • meteorologist
  • xeynon

I think we need to dial back the expectations a bit.

The Eagles are not the clear-and-away #1 team in the NFC. Along with the Vikings, Saints, and Rams, they’re one of four teams that’s about on the same level. The Falcons, Panthers, and Seahawks aren’t far behind.

Gonna be very tough to win a Super Bowl this year. There’s a good chance we don’t even get a first round bye.

    • D3FB

      Bro Wentz is an ACL

      • Masked Man

        Did you hear that?

        • D3FB

“LEFT KNEE INJURY” that’s an ACL

          • kajomo

Why couldn’t it be a mcl

          • D3FB

can’t walk or bend an mcl

          • D3FB

            would still be the season

          • Duracell

Would be ready for next year though.

          • D3FB

            At 70%

          • kajomo

Mcl is like a 4 week injury isn’t it?

          • D3FB

6-8 more likely. I’m telling you I would bet this is ACL.

          • kajomo

I’m sticking with MCL and a 4 week recovery time. Call me an optimist

          • Duracell

            Yeah that’s my take.

          • teltschikfakeout88

How is a left knee injury code for ACL

      • xeynon

If it’s a torn ACL, then yeah we’re dead meat.

I was assuming it wasn’t since he was walking.

        • D3FB

you can walk with an acl

          • xeynon

He didn’t look like he was limping.

          • CTbirdsguy

Can walk without a limp even. You wouldn’t think, but its true

        • CTbirdsguy

Lots of people can walk after tearing an ACL. Including me, twice

      • GENETiC-FREAK

        Wait for real????

      • ChoTime

        Life of an Eagles fan.

    • meteorologist

Obviously we need to dial back expectations when we lost our starting QB

    • sonofdman

With the Wentz news, it might be very tough to win anything this year. I hope he will be ok.

  • D3FB

So Martinas Rankins with the 23rd pick?

    • Insomniac

      OG?

      • D3FB

G/T Miss State. Depends how he measures in

        • Insomniac

          What about the Oklahoma kid

          • D3FB

            Phillip Loadholt 2.0

            I’m not a big fan

          • Insomniac

            Gross

    • Donald Kalinowski

      32nd pick

      • D3FB

Nick Foles aint winning the ship

  • Dragon_Eagle

Game is not over. Foles can do this.

    • D3FB

      Season is

    • Crus57

not with Seumalo/Warmack at guard vs Donald

    • xeynon

If Wentz is out for the year, it doesn’t even matter. We’re not a contender without him.

      • D3FB

And 2018 is pretty much fucked too

        • xeynon

Not going to go that far. Without knowing how serious the injury is, it’s quite possible he’s back by next September.

An offseason of rehab instead of refining his skills is still a huge setback for next year though.

          • D3FB

His mobility will be gone, he will likely be a bit more gunshy, and his mechanics are going to suffer

          • xeynon

            Sheesh.

Let’s wait until we have a diagnosis, shall we?

          • D3FB

I mean let’s just be real

          • xeynon

If we’re being real, guys do come back from torn ACLs all the time.

Assuming that’s what Wentz has, yes it’s a huge blow, but no, I’m not going to conclude it ruins him forever, or even for 2018.

          • D3FB

Never said forever but he’s going to struggle coming of a december ACL in 2018.

          • Duracell

That’s an overreaction. Maybe next year that’s the case, but ACL injuries don’t have super long-term consequences anymore.

          • Ankerstjernen

Sammy Bradfords knee begs to differ.

  • Dragon_Eagle

    There’s our running QB!

  • SeanofDead

    Giraffe Power

  • scratcherk

    run… the.. ball

    • Dragon_Eagle

      We did

  • wallacemnw

Sure sounds like Wentz out for the season. Ugh.

    • daveH

What what what what what what ?????

      • wallacemnw

Erin whats her name sideline report. Very negative.

  • Duracell

    This is so disappointing.

  • Dragon_Eagle

So, yes, offseason priority is investment in OL depth.

    • meteorologist

I mean getting Wentz to protect himself would have made the difference not the OLine but I agree

  • SteveH

Just shaking my head. If the defense had done their part Wentz wouldn’t be out there sacrificing his body. Just a tragedy. What a pitiful performance. A blocked punt TD? Really? A dropped interception on the goal line? Malcom Jenkins falling to his knees and praying to Jesus while Cooper Kupp ran right on by? Every single person in the secondary who’s let Gurley run right by them?

    Just disappointment.

  • SeanofDead
    • daveH

Sunshine back in the Sunshine State wher the bom as sssss hemp be ..on a missions for them Greens, tD making machines turned fiends

  • Someguy77

SEumalo is getting beat almost every other play

  • ChoTime

    nick is doing it

  • sonofdman

Burton is making a lot of tough contested catches today.

  • teltschikfakeout88

Again…walking off the field with an ACL…not the usual way that happens.. but Erin Andrews reported that the staff checked it out and was shaking their heads…

    • SteveH

Could be an MCL, meniscus, sprain, who knows.

    • GENETiC-FREAK

Yeah heaps peeps walk with ACL gone.

      • CTbirdsguy

        true

      • DustyRyder71

Randall walked off with an ACL tear in 1993.

    • sonofdman

Maybe they are shaking their head thinking “what the hell, it’s only a bruise but the Eagles won’t let him back in the game this week.” Maybe?

    • meteorologist

It’s heard of. That’s a tough dude tho

  • GENETiC-FREAK

Man wind knocked out of my stomach. Just shaking my head. Wentz damn

  • CTbirdsguy

The way Wentz’s upper and lower leg got hit separately and in different directions, I can totally believe its the ACL. And that’s about as flukish as it gets, I mean how many guys get hit while diving like that. Jesus the only thing worse would be a non contact move in practice……brutal game. brutal luck.

  • ChoTime

guys afaik we don’t know wentz is out for the season, right? wait until it’s definitive to get all depressed!

    • SteveH

Come on man, you know it. I just hope we beat the Rams to spite them but I have 0 faith the defense can stop anything right now.

      • ChoTime

I don’t know it. Things look bad now, but things change.

  • Someguy77

Image Wentz has at least a severe lingament sprain if not a partial tear

    • meteorologist

A sprain is a partial tear I thought

      • sonofdman

What do you know, you’re a meteorologist? 🙂

        • ChoTime

          lol

  • Donald Kalinowski

I was upset thinking it was a head injury and that he would be out next week as well. Ugh.

  • scratcherk

    no offsides?

  • SteveH

They were offside there. Would be nice if they threw a flag.

  • scratcherk

    no running game?

  • scratcherk

they were just so shocked we ran it, got 10

  • wallacemnw

I actually think Foles is pretty good. But Wentz injury breaks my heart. 45 Years of this.

  • sonofdman

I know no-one else around here agrees with me, but I think Ajayi is pretty good.

    • SteveH

I’ve been screaming for us to use him more all game. I have no idea why we’re giving Blount so many carries early.

      • sonofdman

        😉

    • Someguy77

Completely agreed. So much better than blount

  • sonofdman

    Give Alshon a chance

  • SeanofDead

Anyone else think its weird they had Carson walk a mile into the stadium and its being reported as a knee injury?

    • Insomniac

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug

    • meteorologist

      Nah. Seen it before

    • TXEaglesFan

      He is tough as shit

    • CTbirdsguy

tearing your ACL is not always a crazy traumatic injury, in many cases simply walking is no big deal at all. It wouldn’t hurt and wouldn’t cause further damage

    • GENETiC-FREAK

Just as long as your glutes, hamstring n quads functioning it can carry the load of your knee.

  • xeynon

    God, Seumalo is bad.

  • SteveH

Seumalo is going to get someone killed. What a huge miss on that pick.

    • Insomniac

I’m no OL expert but I never could figure out why we picked him in the 3rd round. Then again I also despise Big V.

  • meteorologist

Aaron Donald is something else ..

    • meteorologist

Guess he saw Cox getting pressures and decided to one up

    • SeanofDead

Seumalo is not something else unfortunately

  • Someguy77

SEumalo is playing as poorly as he did in the Chiefs game when he was horrible

    • SteveH

The only question is who’s worse, Warmack or Seumalo.

    • Dragon_Eagle

And yet, we had to bench Warmack for him. Think about it.

    • meteorologist

Well it’s about as massive a mismatch as is humanly possible going up against Aaron Donald

  • sonofdman

We need the D to show up or someone to make a play!

  • Sean E

    Grade 2 MCL tear

    • SeanofDead

      phuck off

    • Donald Kalinowski

      SOURCE?

    • Jernst

      Where’d u hear that

    • ChoTime

where did you hear that? that would probably be season right

      • Sean E

Well people are guessing ACL so I’m fixing their bad karma.

        • ChoTime

          ubtrollin!

  • SteveH

I love how the Rams celebrate giving up a drive to the backup quarterback. God we should have been dominating this game. Two weeks in a row critical mistakes kill us.

  • ChoTime

okay, Foles did pretty good considering. Jake stepped up. Time for the D to make a play.

    • SteveH

Hah, that’s funny. The defense couldn’t slow down the Crimson Tide right now. Just a complete no show.

    • xeynon

Foles is good enough to win us a game or two.

We’ll still win the division with him. But unless the injury is not as bad as feared and Wentz can come back for the playoffs, it doesn’t really matter.

    • Patrick

      Looooooooool.

Its gonna be a three and out. 1 screen play for 20+, 1 run play for 30+ and the rest to a wide open WR on a deep pass.

  • meteorologist
    • xeynon

      When it rains it pours.

  • scratcherk

really need D to rally here.

  • Ryan Rambo

    Is Graham out there??

    • Insomniac

      Corey? Nah don’t think so

      • Ryan Rambo

        Brandon

        • Insomniac

          No.

  • scratcherk

    ok ok. good start.

  • scratcherk

    HOW THE FUCK

    • D3FB

      Space Jam theory

  • Patrick

    Yeah, thats about right.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Jenkins having his worst game as an Eagle.

  • sonofdman

Why isn’t that a hold when the O-lineman tackled Curry?

  • xeynon

Gurley is the MVP of this game.

    • scratcherk

      hes damn good.

    • meteorologist

      Aaron Donald

      • Dragon_Eagle

Nah. Gurley is the first RB to really take it to our Defense.

  • scratcherk

    defense chants.

  • scratcherk

    fuck.

  • Eagles4life

We need to kill Goff in retaliation

  • scratcherk

    that was bs.

  • scratcherk

that hasnt been called all game.

  • TXEaglesFan

    Dumb penalty didn’t need it

  • Dragon_Eagle

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sonofdman

    Fuck Yeah!!!!!

  • meteorologist

Chris Long coming up huge again!

  • scratcherk

    FUCK YES

  • SeanofDead

    So damn overdue!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • D3FB

    Nothing matters

    • scratcherk

      quiet u

      • D3FB

        MAMA JUST KILLED A MAN

    • Donald Kalinowski

      shut up

      • D3FB

        nah

  • A_T_G

Veteran knowing when the team needs him.

  • Eagles4life

    Yes!!

  • xeynon

I went from being on the edge of my seat about the outcome of this game to almost not caring.. as if it was a random game between the Buccaneers and Titans in October I happened to have $5 on or something.

The truth is, losing this doesn’t hurt us that much if Wentz can come back, and winning it doesn’t help us that much if he’s out for the year.

    • Duracell

I want to win because fuck the Rams. But yeah this is pretty much true.

    • A_T_G

If it is an extended, by not season ending injury, 1st round bye might be huge.

      • xeynon

If it’s extended but not season ending I think we’re no sure thing for a first round bye even with a win here.

        • Duracell

Our schedule is so weak though.

  • scratcherk

    RUn the ball

    • Eagles4life

      With Ajayi

  • Insomniac

Bringing out the whiskey just in case we don’t score somehow.

  • meteorologist

Again… Trent Dilfer and Eli Manning won Super Bowls. Buck up Eagles fans

    • xeynon

Playing with much more complete teams that weren’t built around the talents of an elite QB.

I know you’re trying to cheer everyone up, but we’ve got to be realistic. Any noise we manage to make in the playoffs with Foles as the QB has to be considered gravy.

      • meteorologist

It was gravy to me anyways. Just enjoying the ride. We still have several years of #window left

  • ChoTime

    nice, long

  • scratcherk

    fuck.

  • scratcherk

you dont hear brooks name much.

    • Patrick

Matched up against Donald. Obviously not ideal, but fair enough.

  • sonofdman

I don’t think that is allowed.

  • scratcherk

    well that sucks.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Oh crap. What’s that do to FG range?

    • sonofdman

      We fucked

    • TXEaglesFan

      53 yarder

  • A_T_G

    Dammit, Foles

  • Dragon_Eagle

The sack is better. Thank you zebras.

  • xeynon

    That’s a bullshit call, he wasn’t down.

    • Duracell

Shh, works better for us though.

  • scratcherk

    58 yarder?

  • sonofdman

I don’t know if that is better or worse, but that call was bs

  • Allen3000

Yeah, Foles is no Jeff Garcia….

    • xeynon

He’s played pretty well given the circumstances.

      • Allen3000

Yeah, but he can’t keep plays alive with his legs like Garcia could.

        • Donald Kalinowski

He’s also not backing up a black guy so fans aren’t going to love him.

  • scratcherk

    what a guy.

  • ChoTime

more of that and we’ll be on qb#3. who is our qb#3?

    • sonofdman

      Sudfield

    • A_T_G

      Inactive, I believe.

    • D3FB

Nate Sudfeld. Second year guy from Indiana. Got him from WAS after final cuts. Was on PS, got activated when Colts tried to poach him.

  • sonofdman

    Nice!

  • scratcherk

    YES

  • TXEaglesFan

Man thank godcthe rams players are dumb

  • Dragon_Eagle

    RUN THE BALL!!!

  • scratcherk

    LEVERAGE FTW

  • ChoTime

    yes!

  • scratcherk

run the clock down for the game winner.

  • ChoTime

yes ref! so… what was the penalty for?

  • scratcherk

    need 7

  • sonofdman

I thought that if you jumped over the line on a FG attempt you can’t make contact with the line-man. Donald jumped over the guard and landed on him.

  • Patrick

Throw behind the first down marker…

    • xeynon

I have lower expectations of Foles than of Wentz.

Just happy it wasn’t a turnover.

  • TXEaglesFan

    Nice Sam Bradford impersonation there

  • scratcherk

    up to the d.

  • wallacemnw

    Not enough, I fear

  • meteorologist

Brooks stands up immediately looking for a flag. I thought it was a clear penalty on Donald watching live. Not sure where the confusion is

    • sonofdman

Yep. Donald clearly tried to jump over Brooks and clearly landed on him. Why are they so confused?

  • ChoTime

Jake the Snake with another cold killer FG

  • sonofdman

We need someone to make another play on D.

  • ChoTime

no QB controversy in this town

  • wallacemnw

    Any Wentz intel floating around?

  • meteorologist

    More of that please

  • scratcherk

    come on D.

  • Patrick

I’ve been slamming the defense all game, watch them make me eat crow and shut this shit down in crunch time.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Now would be a good time for the defense to show up again.

  • Allen3000

    Finally!!!

  • SeanofDead

Run D showing up at the most important time

  • Insomniac

Good start but gotta get it done

  • scratcherk

dont let them dink and dunk down the field

  • scratcherk

    bring the heat.

  • ChoTime

time to close this shit down!

  • scratcherk

    it is LOUD

    • sonofdman

Looked like Rams were using a silent count.

  • meteorologist

    LETS GOOOO

  • sonofdman

    Hell Yeah.

  • scratcherk

    YES YE SYES

  • scratcherk

    FUCK YES>

  • A_T_G

    They are punting?!?!?!

    • D3FB

2 minute warning, and 3 timeouts. Flip the field hope to get a stop.

  • wallacemnw

This is aging me. I am now 100 yo

  • Insomniac

    yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • Eagles4life

    We need a TD

    • sonofdman

      Or run out the clock

      • Donald Kalinowski

Just like last time in LA

    • Insomniac

clock or FG should seal the deal

  • meteorologist

Gonna need that home field advantage (and every other advantage) now

  • Spooonius

The call for defense was deafening!!!!

  • xeynon

You know, the Wentz injury aside, this has been a hell of a game.

If I were a neutral observer I’d feel like I’d gotten my money’s worth.

    • sonofdman

      definitely

    • Dragon_Eagle

Yes. All the injuries have sucked, but damn well fought game.

    • D3FB

NBC has to be pissed they didn’t flex this. The two young guns going blow for blow, drama with the injury. Tight high scoring game. WOuld’ve done a big rating.

  • ChoTime

    stepin up

  • Allen3000

Ugh, left 2 seconds on he clock

    • xeynon

Sucks, but can’t blame anyone for that.

  • TXEaglesFan

Damn if he keeps his feet

    • scratcherk

would have at least got it to 2 mins.

  • A_T_G

    Hometown clock.

  • ChoTime

was anyone afraid barner was going to drop it?

    • sonofdman

I was very very afraid of that

    • meteorologist

      If a fumble counts yes

    • xeynon

Not really, actually. One thing I’ll say about Barner is he is sure-handed.

      • ChoTime

        but, Eagles.

        • xeynon

Eh. I’m not superstitious. Maybe I should be given that our franchise QB just got hurt, but I’m not.

    • Spooonius

      Yup.

  • ChoTime

    ajayi becoming the #1?

  • Dragon_Eagle

Time for that OL to show up. Defense did its job. We need to pound out two 1st downs to end this.

  • TXEaglesFan

Come on 7 yards in two plays. Do it for carson

  • jshort

anyone think we can run the clock?

  • meteorologist
    • Dragon_Eagle

That only makes sense if its not season ending.

    • oreofestar

win here would be huge end the season with Oakland, NY, Dallas could still very well get a bye if Wentz isnt out for the season

      • oreofestar

        huge if though

  • DJH
    • meteorologist

Wow. I had a LCL injury. Wasn’t torn tho. Never hear about that ligament

    • sonofdman

What does that guy know, he’s a meteorologist. I hope.

    • CTbirdsguy

I’d be happy to hear that

  • Jernst
  • 79mr2t

Only x-rays are done on site. Can’t definitively diagnose a ligament injury without a MRI. We can only hope.

    • Ankerstjernen

If it is torn completely, they can see it fairly quickly. The knee buckles to one side because the ligament is not stabilizing it. They know if this is the case by simply testing it manually.

  • meteorologist

    LETS GOOOOOOO

  • sonofdman

    Nice Catch Ags!

  • Patrick

    NELLY!

  • scratcherk

    shefty thinks acl

  • xeynon

I love the decision to throw the ball there.

You play to win the game.

  • Dragon_Eagle

I take back everything bad I ever said about Ags. He’s fucking awesome. Great catch.

    • Masked Man

      The sure-handed veteran, Nelson Agholor…..!

  • scratcherk

    fuck yea.

  • TXEaglesFan

    AGS!

  • Patrick

    NO SHOTGUN RUNS DOUG!

  • sonofdman

    One more first down!

  • SeanofDead
  • ChoTime

    oh hell yes, the RaiNMker!

  • TXEaglesFan

    Shit do we punt it?

    • sonofdman

It’s second down, so I say no.

      • meteorologist

        Lol

      • TXEaglesFan

OK wait a bit and then answer this question lol

  • Dragon_Eagle

Two hands on the ball at all times gentlemen.

  • BC1968

With this defense and running game maybe Foles can be Hostetler. Wishful thinking.

  • scratcherk

theylll get it with 30 secS?

    • FairOaks

      More like 20 I think.

      • meteorologist

        Less

        • sonofdman

          Fewer.

          • Donald Kalinowski

I think it should be less?

    • oreofestar

if we dont get a first down a little over 20

      • meteorologist

        ? More like 10

        • oreofestar

well kick it around 20 but after the kick yes less

          • oreofestar

            nvm Im just dumb

  • scratcherk

this fucking sucks if wentz done…

    • Insomniac

Yeah even if we win, the loss of Wentz is so brutal that it won’t matter so much.

  • scratcherk

    7 seconds

    • Dragon_Eagle

They do a mean cover of 99 red balloons.

  • Dragon_Eagle

Max protect on punt. Kick out of bounds.

    • scratcherk

      YES PROTECT THAT FUCKER>

  • meteorologist

    You are still Beautiful Doug

  • GENETiC-FREAK

    Schefter said Eagles fear ACL

    • meteorologist

His season is over we know

      • meteorologist

  • Allen3000

    Oh, that’s glorious.

  • SteveH

    Nothing matters except Wentz’s health.

    • sonofdman

That is the most important thing, but that was a good win.

    • meteorologist

It does. We need home field advantage and every other advantage in the playoffs

    • Patrick

      Winning always matters.

    • Allen3000

Of course, but we pretty much had the division crown and a decent playoff spot wrapped up prior to this game. We’re in the postseason no matter what, so might as well just hope for the best with tempered expectations.

  • Patrick

    LEEEEEETS GOOOOO!

Enjoying this away win tonight, then gonna cry about our MVP tomorrow.

  • wallacemnw

Well, overall hellish game, but good ending. God I hope Wentz is not seriously hurt.

  • daveH

    How did it end ???

    • scratcherk

      fumble, run in for td

    • Insomniac

Lateral failed, BG picked it off for pick 6

    • Dragon_Eagle

UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLY!!! 1 second to go. Rams tried the constant lateral play. But BGraham snagged the first lateral in the air and ran it back for a TD. Eagles win!

    Also, Chris Long!

  • Masked Man

God, please help Carson’s knee now…………

  • xeynon

I love the game Pederson coached.

Losing Wentz is a terrible blow and at the very least severely reduces our chances to win the Super Bowl.

But he had the team prepared, he had a good gameplan, and he coached absolutely fearlessly.

We’ll win big with him coaching Wentz. Probably not this year, but we will.

    • sonofdman

      Well said.

    • SteveH

Conversely I hated whatever it was Schwartz and the defense were doing most of the game.

      • Allen3000

The Rams have an explosive offense, but that was crap.

      • sonofdman

They showed back up in the fourth quarter though.

    • ChoTime

not to get all negative nelly, but injuries are always an issue with this team. randall, donnie, westie…. it just kills things. but yeah, Wentz + Pederson look like winners.

      • xeynon

Injuries are an issue for almost every team in most years… the great coaches can overcome them.

See Belichick winning Super Bowls with backup wide receivers and converted rugby players playing defensive back.

I’m not putting Doug on that level, obviously, but I think he has the brains and the mentality to be a great coach.

  • D3FB

Well the t-shirts and champagne are gonna be a little bittersweet

  • Insomniac

I feel like the season is over if Wentz is done for the season. Hello whiskey my old friend.

    • xeynon

Super Bowl dreams are probably over, yeah.

But they’ve won the division, and they can still win a playoff game. They can still build the program for the future. I’m not going to turn up my nose at that or refuse to enjoy the rest of the season.

    Pyrrhic victory

  • scratcherk

Funny enough, the only Eagles/football/sports thing I have ever prayed for is for Carson to stay healthy. Just cuz he’s a good guy and deserves it. Forgot to this morning. I accept all blame.

  • daveH

Phyrric Victory … since Tommy Law was quoting Alexander the Great .

  • Corry

I’ve rarely been this depressed after a win (and a really good game). Let’s not kid ourselves, Nick Foles is not anywhere near Carson’s talent. But, he can still win a playoff game, we just need EVERYONE else to step up and carry the team.

Now excuse me while I go sob quietly in the corner.

  • Ark87

Been away on a business trip so haven’t been able to comment much. Crazy game, doesn’t mean a thing if Wentz is done for the season. Really sucks. Team gutted it out, can definitely win out to finish the season strong. But I’m about the most despondent as you can possibly be after an incredible playoff clinching win.

  • Dragon_Eagle

So, when we sign Kaepernick to back up Foles, how’s the crowd going to react?

    • Patrick

I almost hope we sign Romo just to see the Cowboys on twitter.

    • SeanofDead

      for me it would be

      1.Cowboys
      2.Chip Kelly
      3. Patriots
      4. Nammdi & Bmax tie
      5. Rams

      • Howie Littlefinger

Thats a solid power ranking of hate

Cam Newton somewhere on there most weeks too (for me)

        • Guy Media

          1. Giants
          2. Cowboys
          3. Newton

    • xeynon

It wasn’t a dirty play. I can’t really fault Barron or the Rams for it.

It’s a physical sport, shit happens.

      • Howie Littlefinger

I commend u for being rational. I might be depressed right now.

        I feel empty

  • Crus57

Small sliver of silver lining: at least it’s not Wentz’s plant leg, so may not play on his mind so much within the pocket.

  • xeynon

Hopefully this injury is the scare Carson needs to realize he needs to start being smarter about taking unnecessary hits.

I love how tough and competitive he is, but you can’t play in the NFL the same way you do against Eastern Illinois. When he comes back – whether by some miracle that’s this year, or it’s next season – he needs to be much more careful.

    • meteorologist

      Well said

    • D3FB

This is the kind of play you are ok with him being a bit reckless on though. It’s late in an important game going for a TD. You don’t want him doing this up 21 against the Broncos.

      • xeynon

Agreed, but he has shown a tendency to do it regardless of the situation.

My hope is he’s smart enough to understand the concepts of cumulative probability and risk-reward and recognize that if you do it enough, eventually you’ll get unlucky, so you want to limit how often you do it.

        • D3FB

He’s gotten smarter this year overall. I mean Teddy almost lost a leg just taking a snap and Tannehill tore his just scrambling in practice. I think next year is going to be a big learning experience for him too without having much mobility.

          • xeynon

Could force him to actually become better at the mental side of the game if he can’t rely on his physical ability to get him out of scrapes.

            Let’s hope.

      • Ark87

he protected himself pretty well, from the hit he could see, couldn’t see the second guy behind him trying to shear his legs off at the knee

      • Guy Media

I’d be more ok if the Rams pass rush was neutered by the Eagles having called more runs.

    • RC5000

Didn’t have a problem with it on that play though in huge game too. He was trying to get in the end zone. If you don’t want him to scramble, you’re taking a big part of his game away. He has to be smart though.

  • Howie Littlefinger

if I ever wanted something to be FAKE NEWS

  • RC5000

I can’t really express myself right now but gutsy job by the team. Which Ram caused it so I can hate him.

    • Corry

      Mark Barron.

    • scratcherk

      mark barron that worthless mofo

    • Ark87

there were 2 guys, only know Mark Barron got him for the front, guy got him from behind to make a shearing effect, legs would have been fine and been an absolutely harmless hit if not for the second guy

    • Guy Media

Pederson’s pass happy BS caused it. If the Eagles had established the run, Wentz isn’t forced to go running for his life on all of those snaps.

      • RC5000

Nah I want to hate a Ram.

        • Guy Media

I’m with that too! DIE BARRON DIE!

        • daveH

I’m not watching but Earlier post made it sounds 2 guys hit him. ..one hi one low. .. fuccckkkkers cheap shot artists

  • scratcherk

what was the run/pass ratio there?

    • Dragon_Eagle

Heavy on the pass. Not official but a quick glance at NFL.com stats shows 52/32 Pass/Run.

      • scratcherk

        thats what it felt like.

    • Guy Media

One pass too many that got the QB body bagged; nice work simpleton Pederson.

      • xeynon

Hoping this is sarcasm but I can never tell with Philly fans…

        • Guy Media

Not a all. I’m fucking livid our QB is done no favors by this dumb fucking simpleton of a play caller who totally neglected the run all game leaving Wentz as a sitting duck.

          • xeynon

I’ll forgive you because you’re emotional at the moment but that’s straight up idiotic bro.

          • Guy Media

How so? We’ve been screaming at this coach to run the ball more, he never does, the Rams teed off on the QB all day, and the QB got body bagged on a scramble caused by the Rams not having to respect our run at all. It finally caught up with Pederson.

          • xeynon

Firstly, they do run the ball plenty. They’re running it 45.7% of the time this season, which is 7th in the NFL.

            http://www.footballdb.com/stats/play-selection.html?sort=rushpct

Secondly, when you have an elite QB, you want him throwing the ball. You don’t just put him back there to hand the ball off like he’s fricking Blake Bortles. You use your weapons, and Wentz’s arm has been the team’s best weapon this year.

            Don’t be dumb.

          • Guy Media

They were 5:3 passes to runs tonight, so the 45.7% would have been most welcome. And I’d love to know that % if you take away ends of games when they were up by more than one score. Looking at tonight’s game in a vacuum they were facing a putrid run D, didn’t run it enough, kept pass, kept getting Wentz hit (19 times per a graphic posted at the end of the first half or early in the 2nd), and got the QB body bagged on a called pass. Sure, that can happen any time, but how less likely is that to happen if the Rams are forced to have more guys playing the run because we used it more?

          • xeynon

Of course runs called at the ends of games influence the percentages, but that is true of literally every team in the NFL.

They ran the ball effectively at times today, but the passing game was what allowed them to win it. Wentz threw 4 TD passes and their biggest plays were in the passing game.

You’ve got to play to win the game. Sometimes that means having your QB throw a lot. When you have a really good QB and you’re playing an evenly matched game against a good opponent, you can’t just wrap him in bubble wrap.

Your criticisms are classic 20-20 hindsight. If Doug had come out and called 60% running plays and they lost the game because they couldn’t keep up with the Rams’ scoring as a result, people would be screaming about how he was too conservative, like they were about the first half against Seattle last year.

          • Guy Media

That’ an interesting point about the Seattle game last year, but the Rams running D is putrid to the point we’d all highlighted that running the ball well was a key to an easy win.

          • xeynon

They did run the ball, and I think it helped them get the passing game untracked as well.

But it’s the NFL. You’re not going to get an easy win over a good team on the road with a one-dimensional gameplan.

          • Guy Media

I’d dispute the Rams being good as they got smacked around by the Vikings and Seattle this year and I’d like to see how we’d have done with a commitment to the run.

          • Fufina

And the hit was a freak one in the end zone, where defender comes in late. The run was a scramble after going through 3-4 pass protections, so in no way did the coach call a designed run there either.

Sometimes horrible things happen – we don’t control everything and never can. If you took the gamer out of Wentz who dives for those kinds of plays he is not the same QB.

          • Fufina

Titans ran the ball more than any team in recent history and it didn’t protect them from Mariota getting his leg broke and missing the rest of the year. It is very hard to sustain a heavy run game without using a QB as part of that and produce high scoring offenses, and that frankly gets QB’s killed far more than passing 40 plus times a game.

The injury rate on QB’s in the pocket is significantly less than outside the pocket, and being pass heavy tends to mean you are passing from the pocket….

          • FairOaks

Carson should not be running in traffic at the goal line. Just throw that one away.

Might have some quibbles about the run, but once Wiz went down, that was not a great prospect. I wonder if Beatty can play guard.

          • Guy Media

Interesting question on Beatty. The writers were all saying that Wiz was going back in, so I think he’s likely to be back soon.

          • FairOaks

Might rather he be active than Warmack though

          • Guy Media

Warmack appears to be active at meal time.

    • fran35

Way too much passing against a defense that is weak on run defense but brutal as pass rushers. Dougie gets a damn F from me for this game. Truthfully, the run worked but we never stuck to it. I almost thought that when Wentz out, we would run the ball more and win. Honestly, with how many times Wentz drops back and plays Houdini, it was only a matter of time.

      • Guy Media

        Correct

  • scratcherk

not sure why the rams got away from todd gurley. he shoudl have had 70 carries just by himself and the score would have been 105-0

  • meteorologist
    • SeanofDead

That’s true for humans…not demi gods

    • xeynon

That is much less true than it used to be. 8-9 month recoveries are pretty common with modern medical and rehab techniques, especially for elite athletes.

Still, missing an entire offseason of practice work in order to rehab is not ideal.

      • D3FB

PUP isn’t out of the question though

        • xeynon

          Yeah, definitely not.

The hope is that if it comes to that they can get by with a Foles-type stop gap early and round into shape once Wentz is back.

Would feel much better about that script if he were a 7 or 8 year veteran and not a guy who still has rough edges to his game that need work though.

          • Crus57

If there’s one thing we know about Carson already it’s that he will be spending every possible moment studying and preparing himself

          • xeynon

Yeah, but I think he needs more physical reps to improve at stuff like the deep ball and the short touch passes, not extra film or playbook study.

      • Guy Media

Yeah, he’ll be rusty and back game 1 next year. Totally not ideal, but it isn’t 1987.

  • BC1968

What was TO’s injury back in 04?

    • Guy Media

      Broken ankle.

      • Corry

And high ankle sprain I believe.

      • RC5000

Thought he broke his leg and tore a ligament in his ankle.

  • wee2424

Maybe we get a 1st for Foles at end of year?

    • xeynon

      Multiple firsts.

      Don’t just GIVE him away.

      • wee2424

        Get some draft capita back.

      • wee2424

Nah, I don’t think Howie will just throw him away. Especially because how light we are in picks.

He has to play good for this to happen though. His time with the Rams is going to hurt his stock although that can also be attributed to Fisher.

  • Ark87

What happened to Wiz? The left side of the line was horrifying with Vaitai and Seumalu side by side

    • Guy Media

Hurt his ankle. Was reported to be going back in, then never did.

      • Ark87

he needs to get back or the run game isn’t coming back. Only hope for the season is

        A) Defense gets it’s head out of its ass and plays like I know it can
        B) Run game gets dominant
        C) That old school style being enough to win out and get the 1 seed
        D) Wentz only having a sprain and coming back after the bye

        • D3FB

Only need 2 out of 3 for the top seed now.

          • Dragon_Eagle

So, even if Vikings win next 2, we could rest everyone against Dallas if we beat the Giants & Raiders?

          • FairOaks

Yes, because we now own the first tiebreaker. After last week, it was the other way around (common games tiebreaker was tied, after today, Eagles have it, and that will be the first tiebreaker between the two teams).

          • oreofestar

            yes 13 wins secures it…

    • Dragon_Eagle

Yes it was. Made us look like we did in the 1st 3 weeks. Awful OL play – everyone taking advantage of that weak link.

      • D3FB

Aaron Donald really isn’t the guy you wanted that to happen against either

        • SteveH

          Seriously. Talk about a confluence.

        • Guy Media

Funny how Seumalo got called for the full arm extended around the neck of Donald holding that Trent Williams gets away with on every snap.

    • xeynon

Looked like it was mostly Warmack and Seumalo who were the problem, Vaitai held up better than I hoped he would with a turnstile next to him.

      • SteveH

Vaitai made a few mistakes but he was all pro compared to Warmack and Seumalo.

        • fran35

Holy crap, I know. Can you believe Warmack was a top 10 draft pick? Somewhere in a Kelowna, British Columbia firehouse, Danny Watkins is smiling.

        • Guy Media

Big V has been really functional for sure.

  • teltschikfakeout88

Re: The Proverbial Pyrrhic Victory … If CW’s ACL is Shot

Well, with Vikings losing today to Carolina …

The Birds and Vikes have finished games against common opponents
(2nd Tiebreaker after head-to-head games — Best won-loss % and Requires 4 common opponents minimum.)
    ________________

    Birds and Vikes each played:

    – Washington (Birds 2-0 / Vikes 1-0)
    – Carolina (Birds 1-0 / Vikes 0-1)
    – Chicago (Birds 1-0 / Vikes 2-0 [final game of season, I’m giving MN the win])
    – Los Angeles (Birds 1-0 / Vikes 1-0)
    ________________

So, against common opponents, Birds finish 5-0 (1.000 winning %)
    Minnesota finishes 4-1.

3 games left in the season …
Eagles can go 2-1 and secure Home Field Advantage.
    ________________

Of course, if CW’s out with a blown ACL …
it’s just way to upsetting to think about.

    • SteveH

      A very appropriately Philadelphia circumstance.

    • Dragon_Eagle

Thanks for the detailed breakdown, AC.

If Doug gets this team to rally behind Nick Roles and do some real damage in January, he does deserve HC of the year.

Re: Championship QBs With ACL Tears

It’s been done before … but just once.

In the 1963 NFL title game — NYG v. Bears in CHI — the Giants’ QB was HOFer YA Title.

Title blew out his knee early in the 1st Q …

    Then he finished 11-29 147yds 1 TD 5 INTs .
    _____________

    Not seeing hope there.

    • Dragon_Eagle

You need to look for the Kurt Warner stories. Starter goes down and the backup plays out of their mind. Like when Michael Vick went down in Chip Kelly’s first year.

      • ACViking

I’m looking for a QB with a shredded knee who wins the title …

Have exhausted my memory. Can’t find one.

        • Dragon_Eagle

Yes. My point is your looking for the wrong thing if you want hope.

        • Guy Media

Brady won one a few years after missing a season with an ACL, right?

  • Masked Man

Nicky’s already in the Hall of Fame, so……

    Hey! No problem! Go Eagles!

  • Sean E

It’s obviously meaningless, but Pederson says those reports are only conjecture.

  • Tumtum

So I rarely ever show my face around the week after a rough loss. Just now really looking in the comments…not seeing any links to comments that our QB has to be amputated at the knee. Am I right? All speculation to this point?

    • Jernst

His knee buckled pretty badly walking back to huddle. Nothing’s confirmed but in all likelihood he tore something.

Re: Mid-season loss of Starting QB … SB Appearance

1972 Miami Dolphins … lost starting QB Bob Griese in game 5 (of 14).

Journeyman QB Earl Morrall — signed by ‘phins before the season — took the reins and led Miami to 9 straight wins and undefeated season.

    The comparison ends there, however.

Griese returned for the playoffs and replaced Morrall at halftime of the AFC divisional round (only 2 rounds back then) … and let Miami to a SB title.

Re: Mid-season loss of Starting QB … #2

1979 Rams lost QB Pat Haden (also in 5th game).

Hollywood Vince Ferragamo had a career year and led Rams to the SB.
(lost 31-19 in a great game to Pittsburgh).

Re: Mid-season loss of Starting QB … #3

1980 Oakland Raiders started the season with Dante Pastorini at QB …
    Also injured in 5th game.

    Jim Plunkett … that’s all I’ll say.

pfft. QBR makes no sense to me sometimes. QBR says Goff had a better game today. Get the fuck out of here. Wentz was making bigtime grown man throws into tight coverage all game. Almost half of Goff’s yards came on that travesty catch and run by Cooper Kupp.

This was Wentz’s best game of the year, and certainly his guttiest. It’s a shame the stats don’t reflect that.

Just check Dak’s stats … he’s the greatest ever

      • SteveH

Yeah I had a good laugh. He had 1 TD where Dez caught a 10 yard slant, threw down some no name cornerback no one has ever heard of and ran it the other 40. He had another TD that was a 5 yard slant that the running back took 80 yards untouched down the middle of the field because the Giants defense is a joke. His third TD was on a blown coverage to Witten.

The degree of difficulty that he has when he does well is so laughably low.

I hope he continues though, I want Jerry to invest as much fucking money into his bottom 10 quarterback as as possible.

Are you looking at QB rating instead of QBR? While I think both are junk stats, ESPN seems to indicate Wentz has lead the league in QBR so far this week:

        QB rating.

      • Guy Media

QBR is bullshit because it counts rushing stats and allow subjective judgement about INTs not being the QBs fault; so it’s a scam to over-inflate the value of Scam and Sheli.

        • Duracell

I’m not disagreeing at all. His comment was just that QBR had Goff over Wentz, and that doesn’t appear to be close to true.

Hire Romo, get him prepped while Foles holds down the fort.

Hopefully they banned Warmack from the post game meal.

Love it. The guy is everything you want in a franchise QB from a personality standpoint. You know his teammates will respond to that.

    NEW THREAD!

  • ACViking

Eagles’ record with Foles in non-garbage time in 2013-14, 2017:

    15-4.

He’s not Wentz … but he’s not Kolb either

    • Guy Media

Jump this to the new thread! It’s a good point.

he has some support, it’s a long shot but the dream isn’t technically dead yet.
