If that doesn’t get you fired up, I don’t know what will.
*****
Tim Jernigan was a full go at practice today. Sounds like he’ll be completely ready for the game. Everyone practiced so the team is healthy and ready to go.
“I’ve been around these guys all year and I can tell by the way they practice — the speed, the tempo, assignment sound, the energy level. Things like that lead me to believe because I’ve seen it all season,” he said. “Now, that doesn’t tell you how they’re going to play. But it just tells you that they’re prepared and ready to go into this game.”
The final whistle blew at 1:50 p.m., roughly an hour and 20 minutes after the afternoon session began. Following the team’s normal post-practice stretch, Pederson stood near midfield, surrounded by his players, coaches and front office executives, and delivered a lengthy speech. With it being the last full practice of the week, and the team’s final Friday practice of the season, Pederson felt compelled to have “a private little moment.” He stressed the importance of seizing the moment and also having fun.
“Play loose, have fun, enjoy the moment,” he said, relaying what he told his players. “These opportunities, as you know, don’t come around every year. Also, make sure just to reflect on this season, reflect on the journey that got us here. But just play for one another, have fun and enjoy it.”
Doug is staying on message and I think that’s what the players need to hear.
*****
Speaking of Coach P…Jeff McLane did a fantastic write-up on him. The opening story is great. Make sure you read that.
I think one of Pederson’s big strengths is getting everyone to buy in. One way to do that is to create ownership amongst the players and staff. This is their team, not just his.
Pederson’s staff appreciates his consistency. He sets a schedule and he doesn’t stray from it. When he holds coaches-only meetings at the start of each week, he goes around the room and asks each assistant, “What are your thoughts and how are we going to beat this team? ” running backs coach Duce Staley said.
“And he writes it down and he goes back and reads it,” Staley said. “And you know how I know? Because I see it in the game plan.”
Pederson isn’t tyrannical, which Staley said is difficult these days “because there are so many dictators, small countries” in the NFL. Schwartz has autonomy over the defense, Dave Fipp over special teams. Reich handles the two-minute offense and will call plays sometimes in those scenarios. Quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo specializes in the red zone. And so on.
Pederson has empowered his players and coaches for two years and you’re seeing the results. Corey Clement and Big V are the best examples of this to me. Vaitai started at RT last year in place of Lane Johnson. Most people expected Pederson to shuffle the line, but he trusted his rookie and let him play. That worked pretty well. This year he put Vaitai in at LT when Jason Peters went down. Instead of shuffling the line, he trusted his guy.
Clement was on the border of making the team, but once he secured a spot, Pederson found a way to use him. The undrafted rookie wasn’t just getting a rep here and there, he got touches in the Red Zone, on 3rd downs and in the 4th quarter.
Pederson trusted his young players and they delivered big results.
*****
Pederson’s buddy Brett Favre will be talking to the Eagles on Saturday morning, but speeches aren’t going to have a big impact on Sunday’s game. The Eagles are going to win if they execute. I know that’s boring to say and it is a lot more fun to think of a fiery Ray Rhodes speech, but emotions can be really overrated.
The Eagles are at their best when they play loose and have fun. That doesn’t mean they’re casual. This is a tough, physical, intense football team. They just like to smile while hitting you in the mouth.
*****
Terrific bit here with Chris McPherson interviewing Daniel Jeremiah.
I completely agree with his players to focus on. And I’m not just saying that because DJ played football at Appalachian State. I think you’ll like his Super Bowl prediction.
Jeremiah talked about the team’s chemistry and “it” factor. Here’s a good piece on that same topic.
Special group of guys.

Fantastic stuff as always, Tomny. Don’t know how I’ll manage to sleep a wink between now & kickoff. What a crazy, awesome & unexpected season it has been & we are so darn close to a finish for the ages! GO BIRDS! #FlyEaglesFly
I have to be at PHX to catch a flight to Philly in about six hours. Sleep would be fantastic… but I don’t see it happening,
Hope everything went well!
It was basically an Eagles fan shuttle. The fight song broke out no fewer than a dozen times. It was a beautiful thing.
Bad part is, after we win I won’t be able to sleep either!
That is a problem I am very much looking to having! lol
You have to believe that this team will find a way to win. Maybe it will be someone we expect that comes through or someone else, but somehow the Philadelphia Eagles are going to win the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Corey Clement is a microcosm of everything that’s right with this team. Big V and Mills too, but ever since Corey hung on to that beautiful, impossible TD pass from Carson against the Redskins, he’s held a special place for me. Love the kid.
Yup. In that same scenario, I see lots of receivers not being able to make that catch, let alone a RB. What he lacks in pure RB ability he makes up for in pass protection, receiving skills, and special teams ability. Definitely not a one-trick pony.
I told my kids that waiting for Sunday to me is like waiting for Christmas for them. I’m hoping and expecting to get the gift that I’ve…rather, that WE’VE always wanted.
This is even better because Christmas comes every year, not a SB.
I’ll take a Super Bowl every couple of years though.
I’m asking Santa for more Super Bowls.
Shit, DeFilippo runs the red zone offense? There’s absolutely no way we keep this guy.
Where is his likeliest landing spot? It sounds like Minnesota. Giants, Vikings, and Colts are the teams with OC openings according to Wiki.
The Vikings might promote Kevin Stefanski but want to talk to Defilippo probably. Stefanski may follow Shurmur to the Giants but Shurmur has a strong connection to Duce .
Vikings decision may hinge on this:
“We have a great chemistry on our coaching staff. They’ve done a phenomenal job, even from when Pat took over last year, taking Norv’s system and putting a little bit of his twist on it, and then adding some things that he learned from Chip Kelly as well,” Spielman said. “So whoever the new offensive coordinator is at that part of the process, do you blow it up and start from a whole new system? Or do you continue to build on what we’ve been able to build on over the last year and a half? So those are the decisions that Coach Zim will have to make.”

Jake Peetz, quarterbacks coach for the Oakland Raiders, has been mentioned as the likely Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator. (That is, of course, based on the likelihood they hire New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as coach.)Jan 17, 2018

Last calender day for the no Lombardi jokes. Enjoy yourself haters. Tomm night it’s gonna be amazin!
The Eagles are gonna win. They just are. Doesn’t matter what anyone says. Brady guaranteed a win in the SB before the Patriots even left the field after the AFC Championship game, so Alshon Jeffrey’s guarantee is no big deal.
no there not, brady is gonna be the difference maker in the game, and the refs, and the eagle players being sick, and ……………………………………………………………………………..
They re not sick anymore man. All Foles has to do is distribute the ball and the Eagles play makers needs to protect the football by not being too greedy. The Eagles can bleed the clock and N.E. no huddle offense isn’t going to be nearly as effective with limited possessions.
This is the proper Zen attitude. Assume the worst so your suffering is mitigated.
troll not even worth the time for a response!
no not trolling, I wish we were playing the jags, and you did respond didntya
One. More. Day
(Also another pat on the back for the Corey Clement love that started in the preseason)
I was appalled at how many RB’s we kept and specifically I didn’t trust clement’s success against 3rd stringers in the preseason. It really didn’t take him long to make me completely regret that line of thought. The kid is great, and he seems to be the team’s preferred 3rd down back.
Same. I didn’t think he has a chance to make the team.
Go back and watch the preseason games again.
I know enough to know that I don’t have any valid opinions on roster construction. I might think a guy sucks (can’t think of one this team, to be honest) but I’m sure that the coaching staff has an infinitely better understanding of the player’s ability. So when these bottom of the roster guys get a spot out of training camp, I always pull for them.
Unless I have some irrational personal dislike of them for no good reason. Then they’re a waste of space and the FO is full of morons.
Ags?
Eagles can carries GOAT..
..
https://youtu.be/8xz_LI5TLTY
I showed my wife that video last night. She was horrified…lol
Wow, it looks like it’s carrying something that weighs 3X its weight, in the air. Loved the goat “sound effect.”
Sane sounds when Cox collapses on Mr Brado
TODAY IS THE DAY!!!
…. that we wait one more day.
Tonight we go to sleep knowing when we wake up we can say, “Today is the day.”
I think that we will get punched first in this game. Just like the vikings game, we will have to persevere and just stay looking for opportunities.
One thing that has me nervous is special teams. They had some seriously dumb plays in the past few games. Also I am not a huge fan of Barner back there. I feel like he keeps the job based on one run back he had early on, but I would much prefer Aglohor back there. I mean to me Nelson is more of acceleration guy and he showed us some toughness in not going down after first contact or yards after contact.(the opposite of Ertz).
Didn’t Jake elliot kick the ball out of bounds on a kickoff this year? Why am I remembering this?
I just go through these spells, where I am concerned then unreasonably confident we will win.
To be quite honest, I have not looked at one patriots game this season, mostly because I don’t have time for that S***. But I am going in bllind. Matter fact, I haven’t seen much of Tom Bradys career.
I only really cared that he beat the Rams. I loved that game by the way. I still hate the Rams of 2001 more than the Patriots today.
It seems like this game is reminiscent of that game. I mean that was a crazy year for Tom Brady. I remember that year there were some plays or play where Tom had some passes bounce off of DBs into the hands of his WRs. I mean…that happened to us too. More than usual really. They had a defense that had corners that were underappreciated at the time. I think Jalen Mills his unique. I have talked about it before, but he just attacks the receiver and has zero memory. I wish he would ball hawk a little more, but he is good at what he does. He is a guy that won’t get many interceptions but is a great corner. Granted I am a asante samuel guy. I like ball hawking zone coverage corners that play the QBs eyes.
Darby is over matched every week. But he gives it his all. I think he in particular has gotten away with some Pass interference calls. And he will get matched up with bradin Cooks. That is the matchup I am worried about. Mcleod is going to have to be exceptional. I expect the patriots to have the top left corner route/flag and the flat and the seam in this game.
One thing we need to do in the off-season is get a stud linebacker. Our linebackers have benefited from the great front end and back end play.
Actually, When have the eagles ever had a standout ROLB or LOLB? I cannot remember….Like a Derrick Brooks like player. Thats what we need in this game. Remember how Derrick Brooks could take a away the RB…Is Kendricks that? Kendricks has had some outstanding flashes this year that reminded me of some of those great ROLBs.
Also, Can we talk about how good Derrick barnett is?
-Rant over (just needed to get that out of my system)
No we are the puncher. Pats are the punchee.
YUP!!! 🙂
How is Darby over matched every week? What do you mean?
Wow, where did he get those sheets full of Patriots picks? The ESPN staff apparently were polled and 61 went P and 24 went E (including Mike Golic, who got slammed in the video). Interesting dissenters from the party line:
Keyshawn Johnson (Just give me the damned Superbowl trophy!), Charles Woodson, Jeff Saturday, Greg Cosell).
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22190604/super-bowl-lii-predictions-espn-staff-picks-new-england-patriots-philadelphia-eagles
Some funny comments from the ESPN site:
“Patriots trail, 2minutes to go,, Brady passes a long throw oh oh ,,here it is all over again refs call PASS INTERFERENCE no matter if it really is or not , refs help Patriots win another super bowl”
“why play the game? the refs are going to screw the eagles on flags, goodell, krafts good buddy will hand him his 6th lombardi & and the legacy of corruption continues, a wink wink, a nice little masonic handshake,”
“The Eagles have only given up 25+ points in 3 games this year… so, all these “expert” predictions of the Pats getting 25+ is mind-bogglingly. Esp after the Eagles have given up the least amount of points in the postseason since Tampa Bay 14 years ago.”
“Greatest Dynasty in NFL History 46, Eagles 13. Over by halftime. Laughable that anyone could seriously think the Eagles have a chance when the best coach in the history of American sports has two weeks to prepare for a backup quarterback while he has the GOAT on his side.”
“Theres that many reporters dumb enough to pick the eagles you havent learned you’re lesson that they always choke?! ”
okay, I’ll stop!
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22190604/super-bowl-lii-predictions-espn-staff-picks-new-england-patriots-philadelphia-eagles
There was a video that went viral and was taken down a few days ago showing Goddell being asked if it would bother him if he handed Brady another trophy knowing that Kraft had paid the refs off and he said “No.” I hope it’s BS…
This may have been posted already, in which case, I apologize; however, this breakdown of how the Eagles need to score on offense against the Patriots has me feeling much better than I had been all week.

Great post. I feel good.

Love it! Go EAGLES!
If we win I’m gonna take a dump on my neighbor’s patio, smear E A G L E S on it, and go find a horse to punch.
probably shouldn’t do that.
That’s it?
Well now that you mention it I was thinking of roofying the nearest Pats fan and re-enacting that Ving Rhaimes in the pawn shop basement scene from Pulp Fiction.

Bring it home for Jerome, Just Win Damn it!!
Omens and luck. Before the last 2 playoff games, Leeds United have lost. Today, they lost again. Handily, actually. Go Birds!
Yes from the UK!!! Good to hear. As well, Pete (puss) Prisco, arrogant a-hole from CBS Sports, is picking against the Eagles for the third playoff game in a row. We need a third for the trifecta.
That Foles and Jaws picture is fabulous…
Two guys who lack facial hair.
This one feels like Seattle all over again, but worse. On the road, with high expectations, measuring stick game, up against an established bully, and one that both cheats and shows no mercy. Our offense just shoots itself in the foot, the defense gets torn apart once Brady/Belichick have the lead and can keep us guessing. Great season. Disappointing end. Patriots 48 Eagles 10.
I was looking forward to your game post. Best one yet. The game is now in the bag.
Thanks, D_E, NOW we are ready!
Honestly we’ll be lucky if we can hold the Patriots to under 100. Amendola alone should be good for 7 or 8 TDs.
Ags given IVs today apparently. Sounds like the flu is going around.
Ugh, was hoping they were past that. Even if everyone feels better by gametime, this will likely take something out of them. How seriously unlucky is that this happens this week of all weeks?
They’re all calling it a cold and it’s pretty standard, basically guys play through minor illnesses all the time, the biggest challenge is just keeping that all important hydration up to operate at peak performance. Everyone that has any lingering effects will get an IV before the game and at half-time.
I’ve heard they a lot of players will get one because half-time is so long, even eat a little if they want (not a cheese steak or anything).
Can’t have sleet bowl in cold city any more .. to overcome the flu also ??? WTF !!!
..
FU th the Flu
Mr. Lurie apparently called Mayor Kenney saying please don’t grease the lamp posts and telephone poles. Please coat them with Cheese Wiz instead.
So Mayor Kenney has teams out here round the clock smearing Cheese Wiz on the lamp posts and telephone poles. Seriously. I’ve been volunteering round the clock since Friday morning. Phew..! Kinda tired…
But if any Eagles fans climb the posts and poles, they get Cheese Wiz all over them. Lurie and the Mayor have the Philly Fire Department teamed up with Amoroso’s Bakery, right? If any fans coated with Cheese Wiz fall off the poles and lamps, then the Firemen will catch them in these giant Cheese-Steak Rolls.
Every fan that gets caught in a Cheese-Steak Roll will get raffled off to the highest bidder as “a Human Cheese Steak with Wiz.” And the proceeds will benefit the Eagles Autism Challenge.
So rather than lock up the crazy fans that will be climbing poles after the Eagles win, the plan is to just let them have their fun and then raffle them off to charity! That Mr. Lurie is a very creative guy.
Perfect plan! Now all we need is the Eagles win!
Gotta get back on the streets! Gotta spread that Wiz before it freezes! Enjoy the game tomorrow everybody! Looking for a big win tomorrow…
Eagles 27, Pats 23! Go EAGLES!
And philly cream cheeeeeeeeeeese
Brilliant post. Except for one thing; there’s no way Pats put 23 points up against this D.
no one thought the eagles would put up almost 40 against the vikes either
I don’t know if this is a joke or not, but either way, it deserves an upvote.
Joking..? Ummm… Yeah.
All out of serious analysis of any kind at this point. Just ready to act crazy. Bring on the Patriots!
Go EAGLES!
lol, I read it on my phone waiting for food and was quite distracted. I got thrown for a loop on the fireman catching people. too funny.
This gave me goosebumps!
https://www.facebook.com/philadelphiaeagles/videos/1652642674773499/
Very cool. This Eagles team is the most enjoyable professional team I’ve ever known. Such spirit, such personality, so much positive energy and joy. We all we need!
That was great.
They cheated a bit, one of the doubt segments was taken way out of context. It was Kyle Brandt just before before he predicted the Eagles would beat the Vikings in rousing fashion. Kinda deflated it for me.
Gotta love a miserable Giant
https://twitter.com/JimMiller/status/959463347182866432
Classic. I’d hate to be a flight attendant on that plane, though. I wonder at what point they shut down beverage service?
I think you gotta lean into it. Weld the emergency exits shut and start serving everclear.
That made my day.
I sympathize with the guy. You buck up for first class, and yet are still reminded that you totally suck.
This is amazing!
Today, Wentz beats Brady. Tomorrow, Foles beats Brady.

Pipeline is going off .. a very goooooood sign for US !
Mahalo !!
GE has just landed in Philly.
Any tips re a nice location to watch the Super Bowl tomorrow that is not already sold out are very welcome.
That massive place in amongst all the stadiums .. ?
Conshy.
Dude, you should go to the Filmore

Awesome!
YESS!!!!
All quiet on the midwestern front…
am I the only person who keeps coming back here, ready to partake in some Eagles chatter and repartee, but there’s _nothing_?
24 hours from now we’ll have all the excitement we can handle and then some.
Honestly, after two weeks of non-stop analysis, I’m pretty much talked out.. feel like we’ve broken this game from every possible angle and now all there is to do is watch them go out on the field and play it.
Dawkins is in the HOF!!!!
I cannnot wait to see the pump up video with him and TO that the eagles will put out tomorrow.
This week is all about the Eagles. Destiny waits for tomorrow!
https://twitter.com/eagles/status/959943372864552960
Ready to run through a doggon wall!!
Awesome .. wheres the HIT on Culpepper? ??
His best beast hit is on Duante Culpepper. . Made him fumble at the goal line .. made him rethink football .. hope they show that one because it seems to have escaped all the hype vids i watch
Just a PSA, these colds the Eagles are dealing with are only news the way Brady’s hand and Gronks concussion was news. Been a long long long 2 weeks and you have to sensationalize every story to fill it.
These dudes will all be able to play at a high level. They will be given IV’s to stay hydrated (the biggest key to peak performance even in healthy players) before the game and at half time and god knows what else science can throw at them with ridiculous resources. These players have all played through WAY worse. It won’t slow them down.
At the tone the time will be 7:13 and 23 secs. At the tone the time will be 7:28 and 40 secs. At the tone the time will be 8:17 and 31…
Dawkins shud speak to the team. .not fffffgff f in fffArve
Both
Can’t do it. I want SB winners.
Shortsighted.
I trust Doug. Period.
Mike Singletary is on line #1
You hating on Dougie?
Sure…
1991 called to say thanks for remembering that brett farve was on the field when Reggie White brought the Packers a super bowl
Like Farve?
Right in the middle of farve, Dawk steps in and stfd’s the creep and gets HIS team ready !
I officially hate the Farve hate. It’s disrespectful to Doug and Carson
Incorrect logic .. but its Coach’s call and I’m onboard w coach
Lol Doug only received one vote for coach of the year. What a joke!
Pederson’s team finished with a better record despite far worse injury luck, beat McVay’s team when they met in the regular season, beat the team that knocked McVay’s team out of the playoffs, and made it to the Super Bowl. But sure, McVay was a landslide winner.
*Eyeroll*
Was looking at the list of announced awards on ‘Bama’s site. http://www.phillyvoice.com/several-eagles-past-and-present-receive-recognition-2018-nfl-honors/
Note how many of these awards went to players on the NFC side.
McVay over Dougie is still a joke.
At this point in time, everyone knows it. We, homers we are, disagreed with McVay getting it at the end of the regular season.
Now? All those who voted for McVay know they were wrong. Let them live with it.
We all we got. We all we need.
Wawa .. we all we are
You don’t remember what the Rams had last year? Dougie did (does) exceptionally well, but McVey resurrected that team! At 32!
Yes! HOF. Deserved it last year.
But all part of the epic momentum for tomorow
Dawkins being elected to the HOF is awesome.
If we win the SB, this is the best weekend for Eagles fans ever. If we lose, having one of our franchise icons make the HoF will be some consolation.
1980, I wanted them to win. 2004, I wanted them to win, this time I expect them to win.
Boom! Hall of Fame post in honor of our new Hall of Fame member.
I’m more confident than I was in 2004 also (I don’t go back as far as 1980). But I’m not taking anything for granted.
Should have been in last year. Jason Taylor isn’t better than Dawk.
I’m made it here! Went to bar tonight in Wayne had Pliny the Elder and other great beer. I’m ready!!
Pliny the Roman writer or is this a beer?
Beer. A fantastic beer actually from Russian River Brewing in California I believe. Rarely makes it to the East coast.
And it’s Game day.
