I can’t say I’m a huge fan of this pick.
Pryor is a massive man at 6-7, 328. He started for two-and-a-half years at TCU, playing both RT and RG. Jeff Stoutland loves massive blockers and Pryor certainly fits that bill. The problem for me is that I don’t see a player who is physically dominant.
He was introduced as a OG, where he spent most of his college career. His height makes him a better fit at OT. He plays with pretty good pad level so the height doesn’t kill him on the inside. I don’t know that he’s got the footwork to play on the outside.
Pryor played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. I haven’t had a chance to study that tape yet. I’ll do that and would love to see Pryor stand out in that game.
Pryor had a terrible showing at his Pro Day. I think he looks more athletic on tape than those numbers would make you expect, but he definitely has limitations. I don’t know if Pryor is someone the scouts loved or maybe Jeff Stoutland. It will be interesting to find out more about that.
I see a player who is a project and who will struggle to make the 2018 roster. I liked other players better, but this is someone the Eagles obviously felt was worth taking a chance on. I hope they’re right.
UPDATE
Todd McShay just said on ESPN that he loved Pryor. McShay had him rated as a 5th round pick and he thinks Pryor can be a starter in a couple of years. McShay said he actually liked Pryor more than his teammate, LT Joseph Noteboom, who went on Day 2.
