Camp Opens

Did anything happen?
Report: Carson Wentz expected to start training camp on the PUP list. An explanation here: https://t.co/eC7mHRcxTt

How can I put this delicately? WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great news for #Eagles QB Carson Wentz, who won’t go on PUP. He’ll be limited but at least practicing.

Take that, Bama!!! Ian Rapoport never gets a story wrong.
Joking aside, I don’t see the PUP decision as a huge deal. By not placing him on the PUP list, the Eagles have more freedom. They can mix him in as slowly or aggressively as they want. Wentz is going to practice soon enough. It probably is smart to get him out there on a limited basis to help get him ready for when they give him a full green light.

There was a roster move.
The Eagles add a new receiver to the mix as the team reports to training camp Wednesday. They've signed Kamar Aiken, per his agent, Aiken, 29, most recently played for the Colts following three seasons with the Ravens. He had 944 receiving yards and five TDs for Baltimore in…

Joe Douglas and Andy Weidl knew Aiken from when the Ravens signed him in 2014. Aiken posted big numbers for Baltimore in 2015, going 75-944-5. Aiken only caught 15 passes last year while playing for the Colts. He has solid size at 6-2, 213.
Aiken is more than just a camp body. To me, those are guys that can simply eat up reps. Aiken is a veteran who can push for a roster spot. It isn’t likely that he’ll make it, but the Eagles at least feel he’s got enough talent that it is worth giving him a shot. Aiken knows how to run routes, how get open and how to block. The coaches don’t have to teach him a lot. They just want to see if he can play well or if that 2015 production is an anomaly that’s long gone.
The Eagles have plenty of young guys already in the mix. It was smart to add a veteran to go along with Markus Wheaton. The backup QBs need some veterans to throw to.

I wrote a piece for PE.com on the state of the Eagles. As you might imagine, it is a fairly optimistic piece. Most of the players and coaches from last year are back. The team has a good vibe. There aren’t any crazy holdouts or wild internal battles going on.
There are some injury concerns, but those players are on the mend and all the reports are positive (for what that’s worth).

Always great to hear Doug in action.
As the team reports for #EaglesCamp today, listen in on head coach Doug Pederson during the final spring practice.#FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/I96KsNgJbu
