The Eagles lost, again. Three out of five weeks this year, the Eagles have found a variety of ways to come up short.

Penalties were once again costly.

The biggest mistake of the game came when Lane Johnson got beaten to the inside, Carson Wentz was hit and fumbled, and then DT Linval Joseph rumbled 64 yards for the TD. A close second came when the Eagles marched right down the field to open the 3rd quarter only for Jay Ajayi to fumble the ball inside the 5-yard line.

You aren’t going to win many games when the opposing defense scores. You aren’t going to win many games when you have Red Zone turnovers.

Brutal.

The Eagles showed heart in coming back from down 20-3, but they couldn’t make the critical plays when they needed to.

The team now sits at 2-3 with a road game on a short week staring at them. This is not how any of us expected the season to go, but here we are. There are going to be tough questions for players and coaches this week. Those questions aren’t going away until this team finally plays a complete game and looks like the Eagles we’ve been expecting all year.

I still believe the problems on this team are fixable, especially as it gets healthier. At the same time, it is hard to feel any sense of confidence in this team with the way they are playing right now. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me three times in five weeks, shame on me.

A short week may be the best thing that could happen to this team. The Eagles need to get back on the field and play their way out of this funk. I’m not sure talking about the problems and thinking about them is going to solve anything.
