Eagles Making Moves
Posted: November 12th, 2019 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 1 Comment »The Eagles got some business done on Monday. They made one current player very happy. They brought back a former player, making him happy. They also gave a chance to a young player, no doubt making him happy.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Helps that he is a pretty decent player as well.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Brooks signing when the Eagles brought him over from Houston. It made me nervous that the Texans would let a big, healthy, talented OL walk in the prime of his career. Who does that? Apparently there were some issues between Brooks and coach Bill O’Brien.
Change that from apparently to thankfully.
The Texans loss has been the Eagles gain. Brooks has played at a high level since coming over. He is now considered one of the best RG’s in football. Brooks is 30-years old, but these days guys can play another three or four years at a high level. Brooks is playing the best football of his career so it is fair to expect him to stay at a high level.
All of this is amazing when you consider he tore his achilles last January, in the playoff loss to the Saints. Brooks worked incredibly hard to come back from his injury and he’s been a fixture at RG this season.

I’ve written about the return of Matthews a couple of times already. The team just made it official on Monday.
Smart move by the Eagles. They add a reliable veteran who knows the playbook and has good chemistry with the QB.
Matthews should be able to contribute right away. He should be starting over Mack Hollins or JJ Arcega-Whiteside.
The Eagles have been awarded a waiver claim on safety Marcus Epps. Was released by the Vikings yesterday to make room for … Andrew Sendejo.
Epps is a rookie 6th-round pick out of Wyoming.
Has played 76 special teams snaps this year and 12 on defense.

Epps makes sense for the Eagles. He can play CB, S or nickel. We know Jim Schwartz likes versatile DBs so Epps is a good fit.
Epps is going to need time to learn the playbook. It will be interesting to see if he’s active this week or if the team gives him time to adjust.
This move is more about the future than the present. The Eagles are healthy enough at CB right now that they don’t need three veteran safeties. They can move other guys around. Epps could help in a few weeks. He also gets to audition for a role next year. The Eagles need young talent at safety. They now get a chance to see if Epps is worth keeping around.
The Eagles are going to keep looking at safeties.
.Safety A.J. Howard, who was recently released from the #Ravens practice squad, visited the #Eagles today.
He was with the #Patriots earlier this year (offseason+training camp+preseason).#NEvsPHI

Should the Eagles sign Howard?
Yes.
And this has nothing to do with the fact he and I share the same alma mater, Appalachian State University.
I am completely unbiased and you can 100 percent trust me.
