Winning Without Playing
Posted: November 11th, 2019 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 1 Comment »The Eagles were off on Sunday with their bye, but still found a way to win.
The Cowboys lost.
The Rams lost.
The Panthers lost.
The Eagles are now tied with Dallas atop the NFC East at 5-4. Dallas obviously has the tiebreaker right now. The rematch in December could be the game that decides the division.

The Vikings (7-3) and Seahawks (7-2) remain the teams in the wild card slots for now. The Eagles host Seattle in two weeks so that would give them a chance to gain ground in that race. Seattle plays the undefeated Niners on MNF. Let’s hope SF can win.
This season has not gone according to plan, but the Eagles are right in the middle of the playoff hunt. They just need to make sure to keep winning games.

It is easy to look at the Eagles schedule and mark down certain games as wins. Be careful about that.
MIA 16
IND 12
The Dolphins organization might be rebuilding, but the players on the field are busting their butts to win games. To be fair, Indy had their backup QB starting today, but that is still an impressive win for the Dolphins. They were on the road and going against a good team. Give those young guys credit.
And they’re hot. Miami has now won two games in a row.

As I watched games today, it was torture to see WRs making clutch grabs game after game. Eagles receivers struggle to make standard catches, week after week.
Alshon Jeffery made a critical catch late in the Bears game. Maybe that will wake him up and get him going.

The #Eagles open as 3.5 point underdogs against the Patriots for Week 11.

It would really help the Eagles chances if they can get a split the next two weeks.
The good news is that the Eagles are at home for both games. They will also be rested and healthy this week. We’ll have to wait and see if that holds true next week.

Asked John Mara after the loss if he wanted to stop and comment. He never broke stride and exited the building. Clearly not happy with what is transpiring.

The Giants are now 2-8. They do have some young talent in place, but clearly they were expecting to a better team than that.
The rest of the world could see this coming. I don’t know why they didn’t embrace a full on rebuild and focus on younger players.
Good organizations can be honest about who they really are and what the right course of action is. Plans can change as the season goes along, but I don’t see how anyone genuinely believed the Giants were a team to watch. They have (and had) too many roster holes.

It was fun to have a week off. I watched the Red Zone channel and could really get into all the close games. There were times when the RZC had four games up at once and all of them had critical moments. That really is cool.
And it was awesome to see the snow falling at Lambeau. Snow games are the best.
