Gameday – PHI at WAS

Last week we had the Boston Scott Game. Could this be the Robert Davis Game?

Davis is the newest Eagles WR and will make his Eagles debut today. He has size. He has speed. We have no idea beyond that. History would tell you that a guy coming off the practice squad and stepping into an important role isn’t likely to produce very well. He doesn’t need a bunch of catches to help the team. Just make a play or two. Run good routes and affect the defense so the other receivers can get open.

The real pressure is on J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, Greg Ward and Josh Perkins. Those guys do have some experience. They made plays last week and they will be expected to make plays today.

I expect Boston Scott and Miles Sanders to get a lot of touches today, both runs and catches. I would try to get them 30 combined touches. Let the offense go through them. Mix in Jay Ajayi here and there.

Weather will not be a factor so that will help Carson Wentz and the passing game. He’s had to deal with a lot of wind and rain, but today he can just cut it loose. Wentz was fantastic in the second half last week. Let’s hope that mojo carries over to today.

No shockers, unless you’re excited to see OL Nate Herbig active.

I expect the Eagles to win, but it probably won’t be pretty. The defense has held 5 of the last 6 opponents to 17 points or less. With RG Brandon Scherff out, expect a big day from Fletcher Cox and the Eagles front four.

The good guys win, 23-13.
