Gameday – PHI at WAS

So…about that offensive line. The Eagles got stability at LT with Jason Peters sliding over there. The right side is a very different story today.

Lane Johnson is out.

You would think Matt Pryor might take his place. You would be wrong. Rookie Jack Driscoll will start at RT.

That frees up Pryor to play RG, right? No. Nate Herbig will make his NFL debut as a starter.

What’s up with Pryor? We don’t know anything for sure. Best guess is that the Eagles wanted him to be the top backup because of his ability to play OG or OT. He can take over for anyone other than Jason Kelce. Again, that’s just a guess.

Even with a banged up OL, I still think the Eagles win this game. They have the better roster. They have the better coaching staff.

That said, the margin for error is a lot less. Washington has a terrific DL and that group can make game-changing plays. I’m sure Doug Pederson and the offensive staff built a gameplan around stopping that DL. That could mean rollouts, draws, screens and other plays that slow down an aggressive bunch of pass rushers.

We will get to see Jalen Reagor make his debut and we’re all excited for that. He and DeSean could be a lot for the WAS secondary to handle.

Let’s get this crazy season started.
