2022 Roster Prediction

The Eagles have to get down to 53 players by Tuesday and they have some tough decisions to make this year. The top 50 or so players are pretty obvious, but the final few spots present some interesting decisions. The biggest question will be whether to go with potential or current ability, and that is always tricky for teams.

Here is my roster prediction:

QB – 2 – Hurts, Minshew
RB – 3 – Sanders, Gainwell, Scott
WR – 6 – Brown, Smith, Watkins, Pascal, Reagor, Allen
TE – 3 – Goedert, Stoll, Calcaterra
OL – 9 – Mailata, Dickerson, Kelce, Seumalo, Johnson, Dillard, Jurgens, Opeta, Driscoll
*23*

DE – 4 – Sweat, Graham, Barnett, Jackson
DT – 5 – Cox, Hargrave, Davis, Williams, Tuipulotu
SAM – 3 – Reddick, P Johnson, K Johnson
LB – 5 – White, Edwards, Dean, Taylor, Bradley
SAF – 5 – Epps, Harris, Wallace, Chachere, Tartt
CB – 5 – Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, Jobe, McPhearson
*27*

ST – 3 – Lovato, Elliott, Siposs

The headliner here is me keeping Devon Allen. Is he ready to play in the NFL today? No. But he has world class speed and that is coveted by all 32 teams. The fact he played on STs and actually showed good potential there convinced me he’s not just a track guy playing football. If you cut him, I think several teams would put in claims. Keep him on the roster and see if you can develop his ability as a receiver.

I left off Josiah Scott and that might be a mistake. I get the feeling the coaches want Jaquiski Tartt. That means you have Josiah Scott and Andre Chachere battling for one spot. Chachere has been the better STer so I went with him. Just a guess.

The two players I didn’t want to leave off were S Reed Blankenship and TE Noah Togiai. Blankenship hit and tackled well. He showed some athleticism. I just didn’t get a good feel for him in coverage. I kept Calcaterra over Togiai because of potential. Togiai is the better player right now, basically due to blocking and STs. Calcaterra is a gifted receiver and the Eagles need a backup TE with that kind of ability.

I think the Eagles can put Jack Anderson, Kayode Awosika and Josh Sills on the practice squad. I didn’t see enough from them to make me think the other 31 teams will be ready to claim them. There is a risk, but none of the three showed anything special this summer.

Deon Cain had a good preseason, but I’ve been fooled by preseason results before so I stuck with Reagor.

I do think safety and RB are spots where the Eagles will keep their eyes open.

I just didn’t get a good feeling for him in the coverage. I held Calcaterra over Togiai because of the potential. Togiai is the better player at the moment, mainly due to blocks and STs. […]

[…] 2022 Roster Prediction – Iggles BlitzThe 2 gamers I did not wish to depart off had been S Reed Blankenship and TE Noah Togiai. Blankenship hit and tackled effectively. He confirmed some athleticism. I simply did not get an excellent really feel for him in protection. I stored Calcaterra over Togiai due to potential. Togiai is the higher participant proper now, mainly because of blocking and STs. Calcaterra is a gifted receiver and the Eagles want a backup TE with that form of skill. I feel the Eagles can put Jack Anderson, Kayode Awosika and Josh Sills on the follow squad. I did not see sufficient from them to make me suppose the opposite 31 groups will probably be prepared to say them. There’s a danger, however not one of the three confirmed something particular this summer season. […]
