Boom.
CGJ is the best safety the Eagles have had since Malcolm Jenkins left. He is a young, talented player who can be the key to the deep middle. Marcus Epps is a promising player, but CGJ is on another level. He’s also a good scheme fit for what Jonathan Gannon wants to do.
That weak side “carry” Slot/Safety is a massive role in Gannon’s Quarters-based defense with a lot of 1 Hole M/M responsibilities. Chauncey will fill it that perfectly.

You’re carrying someone vertical most of the time and it takes real coverage ability to either pass it off to the deep safety or continue in what is essentially man coverage.

The Eagles cut Anthony Harris this morning. They could bring him back, but this is a major upgrade at the position.
We’ll have to wait and see what the compensation is, but I like the move. The Eagles needed help back there and added a stud DB in his prime.
