Eagles Notebook

He didn’t follow that up with a very good performance against the Falcons. Greg Cosell of NFL Films went so far as to call him a “below average NFL corner”. Cosell also said that in 3 games this year Nnamdi has given up a perfect QB rating on passes thrown his way.
Wow.
Not sure I agree that he’s below average. He’s definitely not the shutdown CB we all expected. He can be good, but he’s got to get a quality jam on the WR. When going against speed guys, he does need Safety help over the top. So did Bobby Taylor. Guys that are 210 pounds don’t run as well as the smaller CBs. And you can see that age has started to catch up to Nnamdi.
Tim McManus and his gigantic wallet did a good job of breaking down the All-22 tape to show his issues in the Falcons game.
Go here to see a picture of Tim’s George Costanza-like wallet. It is a sight to behold.

Jeff McLane reported on Twitter that the Eagles worked out CB Trevard Lindley. He’s made the initial roster each of the past 2 years, only to be cut the next day as the team adjusted the roster.
What do we make of this?
Nate Allen missed practice today. Lindley got some reps at Safety this summer. Could he be an emergency addition in case Nate can’t go? Could he be coming here to help at CB and on STs? We don’t know anything for sure. The only reason the Eagles would need him at CB is if they were down on Curtis Marsh and/or Brandon Hughes. We haven’t heard much from Marsh recently, but also haven’t faced many 4 WR sets. Hughes struggled in the DET game, but got an extension a few weeks prior to that and did play well vs the Giants.
My guess is Safety, but that is only a guess.

What’s going on with the #3 RBs? Dion Lewis was inactive due to injury for a while. Then he played. Then he was back to inactive. Something has got to be up with him and the coaches. The reason I say that is because Chris Polk has been awful on STs.
Go check out the STs stats and he isn’t on there. Polk plays on STs, but just isn’t getting the job done. The fact Lewis (who has 5 points) isn’t playing now means something is up. We need one of these guys to step up and help out with blocking and covering.
It is very disappointing to see Polk play so poorly on STs. There were some concerns at the Combine about his attitude. Those went away in TC and the preseason, but you wonder if the concerns were warranted when you see this level of STs play. STs requires players to play with enthusiasm, as well as skills. I don’t know if Polk thinks STs is beneath him or what, but he’s got to pick up the pace if he wants to stay in the league. He’s not a good enough player to make it just as a runner. And for comparison’s sake, Brian Westbrook was a good STer back in 2002 when he was just the #3 RB. Brian paid his dues before becoming a star.

Saints talk…Darren Sproles is out. He’s got a hand injury and will miss the game. No complaints from me.
Jimmy Bama has a great post showing how awful the Saints are in some areas. He also points out the one player that Michael Vick must fear. Probably not who you expect.

David Syvertsen posted some overrated and underrated draft prospects over at ScoutsNotebook. Might be a couple of names of interest on his list.

I put up the DGR this morning. Very sorry for the late post. Did a lot of Vick/Reid writing early in the week and that threw me off schedule. Feel free to ask questions in the DGR or here and I’ll get to them as best I can. Some of you may choose to ignore it since it is so late and covers a crappy game. I don’t blame you one bit.
