Any Masters fans?  It is cheesy to hear Jim Nantz utter those words every April, but pretty darn awesome as well.  I’m only a passive golf fan, but The Masters is something I’ve grown to love over the years.

For SB Nation I wrote about the Eagles and 1st round DTs.

I have said that I don’t see Jim Washburn loving Michael Brockers since he is a limited pass rusher, but it would be overly dismissive to say that the Eagles have no interest.  Brockers is too good a player to just ignore.

I wrote about pre-draft visits and how to understand them for ScoutsNotebook.

The Eagles never said a word to Brandon Graham.  They didn’t need to.  Studied him all year.  Watched him at the Senior Bowl.  Watched him at the Combine.  Saw production and athletic ability.

The Eagles did bring Winston Justice to the NovaCare.  He was a Junior with character issues.  That is a guy you want to meet with face-to-face and find out just what you think.  Justice answered the questions well enough that the Eagles did in fact take him.

I update the Draft Info page here on a regular basis to keep track of who the Eagles are talking to and working out.

One note of interest…Anthony Patch, the Eagles Director of College Scouting, was at the Nevada Pro Day.  The top defensive prospect was MLB James-Michael Johnson.  On offense the star was WR Rishard Matthews.  I like both players quite a bit.  They could go in the late 2nd or 3rd rounds.

      Good question. I know they met with a lot of them. Spent a lot of time with Jarrett. Matthews came to Philly. Met with Watkins at the Senior Bowl. Private workout with Marsh.

        He said it in reply to a question from Spads last year after the draft. I raised it then, maybe in the blog (version whatever). My memory is my best asset. Anyway have I asked you about Russell Wilson?

    For free agents is Joseph likely to want to come to eagles? Has he even visited with teams?
    How bout Chris Hope instead of Yeremiah Bell?

      Y Bell could still be target. No rush by team. Trying to finalize draft plans.

        Oh yeah Joseph Addai. I am suprised he hasnt found a home yet. I doubt that he comes to Philly. There are better opportunities for him. Obviously he could go back with Manning in Denver and pair up with Mcgahee. Heck even the Jets. But who really knows what he wants. He would sure have a fit in Philly. The part i really like about Addai is that he wont steal much snaps from Dion Lewis because he is much more of a blocking RB. Are there any players in the draft that are Known for their blocking as a RB. Isiah Pead or Vick Ballard?

          I didn’t watch many Colts games last year, but Addai’s stats aren’t too hot. I don’t think he has any right to demand a job better than he’d get here in Philly anyway.

      I have to cheer against Fred. He was the favorite golfer of a college roommate so I have to cheer against him forever. Keeps my friend humble.

    I love Masters weekend. I’m also a passive golf fan, but I always watch the masters and u.s. open. I don’t really root for anybody, unless Tiger is in the competition on Saturday. I always root for players on the verge of making history. Especially with golf, where a truly dominant player is so rare.

      I have no favorite golfer (was Tom Watson when I was a kid). I like Tiger to be involved so that it keeps things interesting. Watching him lose to YE Yang or Rich Beem is as much fun as watching him and Mickelson duel.

      I think I’ll pull for Bubba Watson tomorrow. Also like P Harrington.

        After watching Mickelson collapse at Wingfoot in ’06, I just have to pull for him to win another major. That was a humiliating defeat.

    Tommy can Mathews play slot? And I’m assuming you don’t think JMJ can play SAM?

      JMJ is a MLB.

      I think Matthews could play the slot. Didn’t do that at Nevada, but they run a strange offense.

    One more rooting for Bubba Watson and Lee Westwood. BUBBA has nothing to do with it, these guys are on my fantasy golf team!

    Random. But I was wondering which second year guy you guys want to see most improve. Watkins makes sense due to the fact that he is a starter, so does Rolle, but for me I have to say Jarret. I would love to see his college physicality translate to the NFL, and for him to become a starter. Not knocking on Coleman, but he just doesn’t bring that physicality.

      I expect jarret to make a big jump. He was thinking too much last year. I think with a full offseason and Bowles working with him, he will make a large jump ad just play. Not think.

    Re SBN article, Bill Walsh ranked Jon Harris as a 7th rounder, was that a common appraisal at the time?

      No. 3rd/4th. But he had a good workout for teams late and there was talk of him going in the late 2nd.
