Great drive from the 1st team. Vick looks good. Time for him and Shady to sit.
A little shaky start from the right side of the o-line, but that’s ok. The Ravens aren’t slouches on D by any means so it is good for Watkins and Harris to get reps against good teams. They will get better.
And I think it might go without saying, but it feels good to be watching Eagles football again.
I like what the d-line is doing. Looked like that Asante and Nmandi played only one series.

Can’t see the game here, so question for those who can: what’s up with the rushing stats? Ronnie is just above 2 ypc, Dion a little above 3, Schmitty had 2, and LeSean went backwards on his one carry? Baltimore just playing stout, or is our run blocking continuing to suck?
Nothing to add but: 1. Just found your site while mourning Igglesblog…wonderful stuff. 2. These Eagles TV announcers are intolerable. 94.1 on the phone is a lifesaver.

NFL Network (well, maybe just Eisen) is all over Tebow’s jock. Maybe it’s because he hasn’t been able to watch all of the DEN-DAL game, but there is NO reason to hype Tebow like that tonight.
Our old pal Mike Gibson is getting snaps at center for Seattle.

preseason passing rating:
1. Rivers 2. Vick
where it left off.. Ryan Mallett played well.. as soon as Belichick picks a guy like that..
To get a KO to the two you’d have to land the ball at the 12 at the least. Even Reno could move that far beyond the 20. Teams are just going to kick it out of the end zone.
Good read by Casey Matthews on the screen pass. Kept that play from developing.
I love the fact we’re already seeing the DL rotation.
I guess we won’t be seeing a lot of kick returns this year.
Ryan Harris has been beaten with 2 straight inside moves. Can’t have that.
Great catch by Riley Cooper. That’s exactly the kind of stuff I wanted to see from him.
Celek we’re still droppin’ em.
Ravens O is hitting the few Eagles weaknesses.. safety and screens..
great run D! Landri..
Ed Reed Wants to Hold Riley’s Hand..
Like the Schmitt 1st down..
Great effort by Jason Avant, but I’m not sure he got his left foot in.
TD pass to Celek. Great throw.
Great drive from the 1st team. Vick looks good. Time for him and Shady to sit.

Jamal Jackson has looked good. To my eyes, at least.
Looks like just about every team is going to be starting from the 20 after kickoffs this year. Not liking the 35 yard kickoff, that’s so 80’s.
Good coverage on that 3rd down. DBs did good work and Casey hugged up tight on the RB so Flacco had no where to throw it.
This play-by-play guy is just awful.
I like what the d-line is doing. Looked like that Asante and Nmandi played only one series.
Tommy, I think I speak for everyone when I say THANK YOU for taking your time to give a live analysis while trying to watch this game… Much appreciated!
Don’t know if I’m OK with Ronnie Brown wearing #36…
It’s hard to not use up numbers for a football team though.
Finneagle: 94.1 FM
Kelce is doing okay so far. Austin Howard had an excellent down block on run play to his side. Really caved in a DL.
I like this Ronnie Brown guy, but it is weird to see him as #36.
Love that Indy draw play
Howard lets Kruger get by him to the inside. Bad sack.
Our 2nd team would probably be a double digit favorite over the redskins 1st team.
Vince Young struggled mightily at Lehigh, but you can see how games are a whole other story.
Ronnie Brown is getting more carries tonight than he might get in the month of September.
What is this offence? Some gimmick from college ? Is this legal?
What are these plays where the QB hands the ball to the RB? Must be some new innovative stuff by Reid and MM.
May not have been the best QB play – but that was a great effort by Vince – with a good pass to Hall.
Actually glad the drive got stopped. We need to see Alex Henery in action.
Draws it just inside from 35. Icebreaker.
Andy Reid has the biggest jones for Chad Hall. Looks like we’re keeping 7 WR’s on the roster.
DeSean Jackson
Jeremy Maclin
Jason Avant
Riley Cooper
Steve Smith
Chad Hall
Johnnie Lee Higgins (KR/PR)
It’s called the 2nd team offense from the 1st preseason game that you won’t be seeing in the regular season..lol
J Jarrett with tackle on KOR.
Chad Hall could be on the P Squad this year. I’d have no problem with that.
D Tapp sack.
He’s playing well.
I think someone would pick Hall up if we try getting him in our P squad…
J Jarrett with an INT
Hugh Douglas didn’t think that was intentional grounding? Wonder what he’s watching.
Good situational rep for Henry the 8th
Great punt lousy job covering the ball.
Screen game tonight is going to be tough with the Ravens blitzing so aggressively.
Good run stop by G Lloyd.
Thanks for the posts everyone. I can’t get to a sports bar so have to follow online. Sd Seattle game is only one on my cable tv.
You think Chad Hall could stay on the PS, though? He’s proven his size isn’t a huge obstacle in the NFL. I could see a team signing him away.
LB Keenan Clayton is flying to the ball tonight. Good start.
I am very impressed with the defense. Jim Washburn has had a tremendous impact on the unit. We’re playing on the other side of the LOS on a regular basis. Love seeing that.
Kafka is in now.
Rookies doing well. Watkins, Lewis, Matthews, Jarrett
Dion Lewis is off to an impressive start. Doesn’t go down on first contact. Huge quality for small guy.
Another good run by Lewis. Runs hard. Strong. Good vision.
Are we ready for some football in Philly or what gentleman – there was some 800+ comments on BGN – and that was just mid-first-quarter of the first pre-season game.
A year (the year?) to remember!
Kafka with a pick. Dion Lewis had a nice blitz pick up though.
Another Tapp sack.
Really impressive 1st half. The D was every bit as good as I hoped. The offense was sharp with Vick.
No major injuries so far.
Very good start.
Seeing our D-line play is exciting, they spend a lot of time on the other side of the LOS. Less worried about stopping the run
I’m not sold on Kafka as anything but a backup due to that arm..
Dion Lewis’s 2nd effort is fun, fun, fun til the safety bats the football away.. I hope Shady teaches him to leave that to college days..
I’d say our aggressive D-line is having a ball, but remains to be seen how they fare once the O actually gameplans against our system…
2nd string offensive line will get a lot of ‘coaching up’ after this game
In case your wondering Morton is working late and asked me to fill in for him..
@ ian…
Best line of the night (RE: Morton).
Kafka wasn’t impressive. That’s why Eagles never counted on him to be the backup. I do want to see how he looks as he gets some more PT.

13-3 Eagles.
Tommy – turn off the volume and tune in to Merrill Reese through the Eagle website.
@ Sokhar…
Run game has been good at times. Shady ran near GL and got stuffed.
Brown looked good on his carries. Don’t know why average is so low. Maybe a TFL.
Dion Lewis looked good.
Missed tkl by Marsh on WR screen. Tentative, sloppy.
Good to know, thanks Tommy.
Derek Landri w/ sack. Looking good.
Is there a way to sync up the radio with the tv? Even if it is something I have to do manually. The tv feed I am watching is about a play or two behind merril.
RZ INT by J. Page.
Pressure by Hunt led to the pick.
@iskar36 I’m listening to FM radio (not website), it’s pretty darn close.
3rd string D does need to play better run defense.
Sorta cool seeing a RZ stop. Forgot what those looked like.
I realize it’s preseason with the third strings in at this point, but loooooove seeing a redzone stop.
Nice mobile play by Kafka. Maybe we can trade him to Miami for a 2nd.
Tommy don’t forget the REPLAY in on NFL Network at 11… In case you need a more indepth analysis for your next article.
Kafka to Gerald Jones for 16 on 3rd down. Nice play.
@ Iowa Eagle…
I will be studying the NFLN showing thoroughly. Probably gonna be a late night.
94 ysp is pretty good except for those Mama Deitz commercials…
I know I’m being a bit of a jabber jaw Tommy so I apologize… busted into my reseve twelve pack of Sam Adams Winter Lager for just such occasion.
Vandervelde, Dunlap both got beaten on that 3rd down.
You’ve got the beer, and fittingly I’m enjoying the chocolate pudding. IgglesBlitz, always classy!
Pressure by Hunt leads to another INT.
Oops. Pick will be challenged and likely overturned. Colt Anderson wasn’t able to get both feet in.
Nice job by Phillip Hunt so far.
Doubt that int will stand
Is Sinorice hurt?
Probably was roughing the passer on Hunt, though

Jorrick Calvin is not having a strong night.
The refs look like they’re ready to go home
Mike Quick singing the praises of Teo in camp
Phillip Hunt is having a strong night.
He and Tyrod Taylor have spent a lot of time together.
Hunt is nasty…
Ugh. Feeling bad for Kolb playing against this OL. Yikes.
good showing by Landri, Favorite, and Rolle
didn’t like Cooper not cutting back.. just ran where the play was going and didn’t get much. Kafka hasn’t gotten anyone killed yet on his ‘call fair catch’ screens knock on wood
I guess we really don’t need a quality KR anymore.
Shank by Chas Henry when he had a lot of room to work with. Gotta eliminate that stuff.
Bad punt
Tyrod Taylor will sleep well tonight.

Heavy blitz. Brian Rolle hit Taylor as he threw. Pass ended up incomplete.
Eagles don’t lose!!! Or tie!!!!
Kolb threw a nice deep ball to fitzgerald (who made a great catch while well covered by a db)
Anybody else hear these annoucers talking about nobody wanting an overtime?!? Umm last time I check, preseason doesn’t have overtime does it?
Adams also had a good game, possible PS safety for insurance.. Rolle and Favorite.. Locke looked good..
Castillo 6 points in preseason debut
I didn’t watch the game too closely after the 1st half, had company stop by. However, what I saw was better than expected. I thought the play in the first half was closer to a regular season game than a scrimmage as some advertised it.

I think Hall may have beaten out Higgins for the #6 WR spot. Hunt should make the team. Bye Teo and bye Lindley
still waiting for that first kick return
Seems a little crazy to keep a RS if there’s no returns
@EP
If you don’t have a RS, would the oppenent kick it to the 2 instead?
