Yes, no true FB kept. Backup OL is a big question. I have no idea how that’s going to shake out. I think some of the backups aren’t currently on the roster. Laws beats out Landri, but it’s a tough decison. Jordan is on this 53-man prediction but I think he gets replaced. 6th WR/return man is another possible place where we see movement. Anderson is kept for STs value. That’s not what I want, just what I think happens.

Keeping a 6th WR doesn’t mean the guy has to play every week. He could be the PR early on if Smith is inactive while still recuperating.

Dion Lewis had his spot pretty much locked up already. He has looked great throughout the preseason.
Just signed up to gamepass for $120 AU so much better than watching streams that cut out midway.
right side of line didn’t look too good on first drive
Dion Lewis is a future star in this league. Just look at that shiftiness!
That kick potentially could be really bad for Henery’s psyche…
Brian Rolle with an early sack. Love that dude.
The ball of hate!
brian rolle with the sack! wooo
We play in this stadium twice a year so it’s good he gets a shot to kick in this place and Ake was never very good here either btw
I thought Hall had enough time and space to beat the first man on that punt return. Didn’t do it last year either.
@ Kushan…
The miss could be good. We need to see how Henery bounces back. PKs need to show they can handle some adversity.
@Kushan
I hate to see him miss, but I really hope he gets a second chance to kick a long FG. It would be nice to see if he can make the adjustments.
Why was Chad Hall receiving the punt return? I want to see what Dion Lewis can do there.

What beer are you drinking now?
Watkins seems to struggle a bit… Is he playing opposite Wilkerson??
Haven’t been able to listen or watch any of the game yet. How does Watkins look?
Wicked hit on Cooper. That is one tough dude.
So, Dion Lewis is made the roster. I think Chad Hall must make it too! TD!
Watkins has been up and down. Good on run plays, inconsistent on pass plays. He is going against Muhammad Wilkerson quite a bit.
Vince Young executed the offense well on both drives. Right side of line looked better on second drive.
I absolutely hate the way all these rules are destroying the game of football that I love… There was NO penalty on Pool!!
How do the NFL expect defenses to play?!?!?!?!?
Should we read into the fact that JamJax didn’t start?
it’s likw Watkins is either blocking the wrong man / the wrong direction or not sustaining blocks on every other play. Discouraging.
Defense came out to play tonight!
Cooper’s helmet flying off made the call.
I hope Hall makes the team, I like to see servicemen get a shot in the NFL
I haven’t watched Watkins on every play, but the ones I do watch him on, it seems to me that the mistakes he has made have been mental. If he doesn’t make the mental mistake though, I haven’t noticed him not sustain the block well.

Forgot Laws was now #91.
Ok, I take back what I said about Chad Hall. Bye Bye Chad, nice knowing you.
Laws looking good. going to make it tough on the eagles to cut him
Is DeSean our only option at punt returner at this point?
Reno Mahe made it with Andy being marginally talented, but reliable and a good guy, perhaps Chad Hall can fill the same dubious role
Brian Rolle just blew up that run.
I hope they cut Chad. He’s not showing much progress from last year.
Trevor Laws is fighting for his spot! I like what I’ve seen from him so far…
And Brian Rolle looks every bit as good as advertised, Tommy 🙂
Landri/Laws is going to be a tough call… I don’t see Hargrove staying, being as deep as we are at DT and DE.
Any chance the Eagles will try Dion Lewis as PR?!
Watkins is done for the night.
I think Hargrove makes it. He can play DE too which helps. Juqua Parker is as good as gone. No way they’re keeping him at that salary.
Moss has 2 nice catches. Let’s put him back at PR for the rest of the game.
Excellent blitz pickup by D. Lewis!!!
@GermanEagle
Remember when they just threw a guy in on PR? his name was Greg Lewis and it was the worst unmitigated disaster since pearl harbour, and it cost us a game…

For those who need a link..
@Matt
thanks for bringing up those nightmare memories about Greg Lewis as our PR… 😉
Before the game I was pretty certain that Laws was not going to make this roster. As of now I am not so sure any more..
As much as they may be concerned about Jackson’s health, I can’t imagine he is not the punt returner this season.
Moss was in at PR on that last play. Short punt so he stayed away.
Was hoping we could see what Sinorice could do with the punt
Starting OL:
Dunlap – Vandy – McGlynn – Watkins – Wells
Wow, some good D-linemen will be cut, think Laws will stay? Who will be eligible for PS?
Winners so far:
– Vince Young: secured his backup QB spot
– Dion Lewis (a new star in the making?!)
– Trevor Laws: might make the team after all
Losers so far:
– Henery: everytime he tries a FG I am nervous as hell
– Hall: thanks for the memories.
Hmmm, so does that mean they view Jackson as a valuable backup/6th man or they don’t want him getting hurt so they can’t trade/release him?
Lee looking very nice tonight. I’m thinking 5 WR 3 TE.
And people really need to let the dream team thing go.
@Tommy
What now? :-0
@eagles nut
I had the same thought, but with Kelce being a rookie that has been up and down, we need to keep a solid backup at center. Do they keep McGlynn over Jackson?
Crap, that didn’t look good.
What a bizarre series of events!!!

I didn’t want to jinx it, but it seems their are too many injuries have occurred at this new stadium. Last year was Nate Allen, and this Giants lost two cornerbacks this year. This field is horrible for being a brand new stadium. With that note, hope VY is nothing serious?
I don’t understand why Andy went for it. The rookie PK needs reps. Dumb decision.
I’m just worried about our kicking game.
@Tommy
Isnt preseason the best place to practice 4th down conversions?
@Tommy

If you don’t trust your kicker to make kicks, then you really should be bringing in a new one next week…

It almost looked like the Jets KO unit had a 4 man wall, was the Colt on the tackle?
I don’t mind skipping 18 yd FG. Not much to gain from that.
Honestly, I think Reid just does things sometimes to make it interesting for himself. Kicking FGs is boring.
Keenan Clayton just missed an INT. He’s done some good things.
Moss with the PR. Only got 2 yards, but looked smooth on the catch and shouldn’t have gotten anything on the return.
Who gives a crap about interviewing a GM… they’re ruining my JV scouting experience.

He also said they’d only carry 4 WRs. He’s not exactly Cris Collinsworth.
The Jets’ commentary guy is probably correct. They don’t have good depth at WR or OL.
Baaad blitz-pickup by Buckley led to that return… Bye bye Eldra
Austin Howard has looked okay at LT. He needed a good night. Coming in fat was dumb. Leave that to the bloggers of the world.
I don’t think Howard makes the 53-man roster. If I had to guess the backups right now I’d say Justice, Dunlap, Jackson, and Vandervelde. Strong possibility we get at least 1 new OL in here by waivers or trade. Vandervelde hasn’t stood out good or bad to me but he’s a Mudd pick so I think he has the edge over guys like Howard.
Good, a chance to see Henery try a long FG.
Great to see Henery nail the 49 yd FG.
Nice.
H E N E R Y!
Was that a smile from Reid after the successful field goal?
I’m not so excited about Henery making that FG. He was doing it against third-string goalposts.
Tommy did you just hear that? The announcers just talking about how this team reminds them of the 94 niners offseason. I swear there is no way these dudes did that research on their own. Somebody must have told them about this site.
They are reading your stuff and passing it off as their own on air. Anyway, us in the know here certainly gives props where they are due. And in this case those props are yours Tommy.
Welcome to the team Philip Hunt! Back to back plays! Nice
Moss has to be the PR over Hall…right?
I know it’s preseason, but HUNT= 3 sacks in 4 games
@theguyotc
Nice!
@Tommy
Jeff McLane is just speculating, but he posted on Twitter that he thinks Jarrett’s knee contusion will land him on “wink wink” IR. Do you think that is likely? If so, do they just go with 3 guys at safety to open up somewhere else, or does Anderson make the team?
Maybe neither of them. Maybe someone we acquire later this week.
@ guyotc…
3rd string goal posts??? That explains it.
Brilliant.
Tommy what do you think about Teo? Will he be cut?
@ iskar…
Putting J Jarrett on IR might be a very good idea. That would clean up a log jam at Safety.
We are WAYYY to deep at DE, but I can’t help but notice Chris Wilson these past few games… Is it just because he’s got limited playing time and fresh legs?
RE: Teo
Need to watch the tape. He hasn’t stood out and that sure doesn’t help his cause.
“Moss has to be the PR over Hall…right?”
Is “neither” a choice?
I haven’t been able to watch the game, so I don’t know if they already tried this… I’d like to see Lewis return some punts. The guy is fast, shifty, and athletic. Sounds like a PR to me.
Any chance we keep Wilson or can trade him? The guy can play.
@eagles nut
I agree… I’m rooting hard for Wilson and Hunt.
Another strong showing by the Eagles defense. Juan Castillo has them headed in the right direction, at the very least.
Moss over Hall, Laws has helped himself – did he beat out Landri? Can we keep 5 DT’s with Hargrove a part-time DE.
Hunt over Teo.
How do you cut Donald Lee after that performance?
Dion Lewis – WOW.
Without the Hall punt fumble and Kafka pick-six, the Jets were shut out.
I was thinking Hall would make the team at the expense of the 3rd TE, but Lee had a great showing today, and Dion Lewis showed he can be the KR. I’m thinking Hall is definitely gone.
Tommy, do you think the coaches make room for one of Moss/Higgins? If so, at which other position will they go lighter (I’m assuming 6WR means one less OL, TE or defensive player)?
Could go:
QB – 3
RB/FB – 4
TE – 2
OL – 9
WR – 6
That’s a total of 24 spots, which is normal.
53-man roster prediction:
QB: Vick|Young|Kafka
RB: McCoy|Brown|Lewis(no FB kept on 53-man roster)
WR: Jackson|Maclin|Avant|Smith|Cooper|Moss
TE: Celek|Harbor|Lee
OL: Peters| Mathis|Kelce|Watkins|Herremanns| Jackson|Justice|Dunlap|Vandervelde
DE: Cole|Babin|Tapp Hunt
DT: Jenkins|Patterson|Laws|Dixon|Hargrove(DE)
LB: Fokou|Matthews|Chaney|Clayton|Jordan|Rolle
CB: Asomugha|Samuel|Rodgers-Cromartie|Hughes|
Lindley|Marsh
S: Coleman|Page|Jarrett|Allen|Anderson
ST: Dorenbos|Henery|Henry
Yes, no true FB kept. Backup OL is a big question. I have no idea how that’s going to shake out. I think some of the backups aren’t currently on the roster. Laws beats out Landri, but it’s a tough decison. Jordan is on this 53-man prediction but I think he gets replaced. 6th WR/return man is another possible place where we see movement. Anderson is kept for STs value. That’s not what I want, just what I think happens.
Anyone else against keeping 6 WR? I’m not willing to bench Cooper or Smith for a KR.
@EaglesNut
I like the 9 OL idea too and agree with 99% of your roster. I think they’ll keep Schmidt at the expense of Lindley though.
Keeping a 6th WR doesn’t mean the guy has to play every week. He could be the PR early on if Smith is inactive while still recuperating.
When Steve comes back you might have someone else banged up and inactive. Or maybe the extra WR sits and DeSean is the PR that game.
You can mix and match.
I’ll tell you what…
It’s a lot more fun cutting guys you want here than waiting and hoping to pick up guys so you can compete!

Harris you cut or injury-settle and maybe bring back later in season.
One guy who made a case for himself tonight was Jeanty.
Jeanty probably ensured a look by another team tonight. I was very impressed with Lewis and Hunt tonight, both not only wrapped up there roster spots imo, but earned some playingtime. I am really hoping chad hall and jlh are cut in favor of Moss.
If teams believe that the Eagles weakness is in the linebacking corps, and plan an attack based on the running game and short passes, then haven’t the Eagles put them where they want to before the game has even begun?
What about Donald Lee’s performance tonight? He looked extremely athletic. In my opinion he looked much better than Clay Harbor. Any chance he gets more playing time in the regular season?
@ izzlangfan… you took the words right out of my mouth.
How can we keep Parker with all the young talent @ DE?
Things we learned in the pre-season.
Our LBs are very good when our DL gets penetration. We have no idea how they hold up against good teams when our DL doesn’t perform.
@McG
keeping him on the team shouldnt be too hard.
putting him on the field and thus stealing reps from some young talent? now thats more of a problem! especially with his $$$ this year
Lance Briggs is asking to be traded (again!).
Just saying..
