PHI 28, NYJ 13 – 2nd Half

Posted: December 18th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 95 Comments »

Great start to the game as the Eagles went up 28-0.  Then a pair of costly turnovers led to 10 points and the Jets cut the deficit to 28-13.  They get the ball first in the 2nd half, giving them a chance to really get back into the game.

Good news is that the Jets only have one scoring drive of more than 25 yards and even that one was basically one huge play.  The Eagles defense is having another solid day.

The Eagle offense is playing well, minus the Shady turnover.  That group just needs to hold onto the ball.

STs is once again an issue.  Dion Lewis fumbled a KOR and Curtis Marsh had a punt bounce off him and get recovered by the Jets.  Can’t have those kinds of mistakes.

The Eagles have blown a ton of leads this year.  Is this a new Eagles team or the same old bunch?

Well that’s not a good way to start the 2nd half…. I refuse to believe that Special Teams was ONE guy (Colt Anderson).

    Good stop by the D.

    What’s up with DeSean?

He was hurt chasing down Shady’s fumble. He was on the sideline hunched over…not sure what’s going on though.

The 1st half was a microcosm of the Eagles’ entire season.

The only question is whether the 4th Q will be, too

  13. 13 Anonymous said at 6:29 PM on December 18th, 2011:

No you are not the only one. To me it seems like he always finds a defender waiting for him, perfectly squared up, and its just a matter of momentum.

  14. 14 Anonymous said at 6:23 PM on December 18th, 2011:

And McCoy just keeps on scoring TDs. How many passes have been stopped at 1 yrd line this year and McCoy just keeps on running them in?

It’s so frustrating to see the Eagles play this way . . . .

Too many T.O.s early in the season killed this year. And J.C. as D.C. — too much too soon.

    Just so frustrating.

When this offense clicks, it’s unstoppable.

Really a shame. Hopefully we can crush Dallas and Washington and keep our heads high.

As bad as VY was against Seattle, where was THIS defense?

Clearly, Reid was right when he said this defense was built to play with the lead.

Now, if Reid could just guarantee that the Eagles would have the lead most of the time going to the 4th Quarter . . . then J.C. could come back as D.C.

Oh. That’s right. The Eagles had the lead 5 times and lost.

    Forget it.

Now that the Eagles are winning in the 2nd half . . . here’s the offense throwing the ball.

    Interesting.

Is Reid that scared about the 4th Q?

The Jets look like they’re just as flat as Rex [edit] is round.

  35. 35 Anonymous said at 6:37 PM on December 18th, 2011:

And u know it’s killing Rex and shottenheimer that Juan is out coaching them. Fundamentals Rex…fundamentals. Gap responsibility. It’s thats simple.

I hope we mix in Dion, Ronnie in the 4th Q. No reason to run Shady into the ground.

DRC looks MUCH better on the outside. Totally different

  47. 47 Thorin McGee said at 6:57 PM on December 18th, 2011:

It’s a shame Asante can’t play on the inside, because his build and ball skills are actually a better fit for it than DRC’s.

  48. 48 Eric Weaver said at 8:33 PM on December 18th, 2011:

Yeah, and while I’d hate to see Samuel go; I think DRC can fill in admirably. Especially if Juan wants more of a physical play at the line.

One the other hand, the Eagles had Mitch Berger as a rookie punter (per Kotite) then cut him the next year. Berger went on to have a long and very, very good career.

Let’s stick with Chas. Just needs work.

    Worst trade in 28 years . . . Raiders give 2 #1s for Palmer.

In 1973, the Eagles traded 2 #1s, plus All Pro WR Harold Jackson, plus “touchdown” Tony Baker, plus a #3 in 1975.
