PHI 28, NYJ 13 – 2nd Half
Posted: December 18th, 2011 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 95 Comments »Great start to the game as the Eagles went up 28-0. Then a pair of costly turnovers led to 10 points and the Jets cut the deficit to 28-13. They get the ball first in the 2nd half, giving them a chance to really get back into the game.
Good news is that the Jets only have one scoring drive of more than 25 yards and even that one was basically one huge play. The Eagles defense is having another solid day.
The Eagle offense is playing well, minus the Shady turnover. That group just needs to hold onto the ball.
STs is once again an issue. Dion Lewis fumbled a KOR and Curtis Marsh had a punt bounce off him and get recovered by the Jets. Can’t have those kinds of mistakes.
The Eagles have blown a ton of leads this year. Is this a new Eagles team or the same old bunch?
Fly Eagles Fly, baby… lets win this popsicle stand.
Well that’s not a good way to start the 2nd half…. I refuse to believe that Special Teams was ONE guy (Colt Anderson).
Good stop by the D.
What’s up with DeSean?
He was hurt chasing down Shady’s fumble. He was on the sideline hunched over…not sure what’s going on though.
The 1st half was a microcosm of the Eagles’ entire season.
The only question is whether the 4th Q will be, too
Tommy –
What did you see re: D-Jax?
Would certainly help our chances if Sanchez stays out…
MAGNUM T.E.
Damn straight! Deserved the TD there, really.
SHADY!
How beautiful is that? Another RZ TD.
Does anyone else chuckle when they see Celek out run or run over people?? Am I the only one?
No you are not the only one. To me it seems like he always finds a defender waiting for him, perfectly squared up, and its just a matter of momentum.
And McCoy just keeps on scoring TDs. How many passes have been stopped at 1 yrd line this year and McCoy just keeps on running them in?
…although considering out past short yardage struggles from recent years we really shouldn’t take those for granted.
The Shady has landed.
Tommy as the most knowledgeable eagles fan I know I’m sure you watched and admired Van Buren when he played so how do you feel about Shady breaking his long standing record?
Damn Tommy, I didn’t realize you were that old! In that case, you are one handsome man.
It’s so frustrating to see the Eagles play this way . . . .
Too many T.O.s early in the season killed this year. And J.C. as D.C. — too much too soon.
Just so frustrating.
When this offense clicks, it’s unstoppable.
Really a shame. Hopefully we can crush Dallas and Washington and keep our heads high.
Philip Hunt is in . . . Jets can’t move the ball!
Babin is nuts, man. Nuts.
Meh. All he does is sack the quarterback . . .
Holy crap! Another sack?!
Don’t know if you guy saw this. Halftime show for DEN was monkeys riding on dogs.
http://t.co/HfXQwpIu
And I could watch that all day.
…I’m no longer and Eagles fan. Long live Tim Tebow and the monkey riding dogs.
That just changed my life.
Isn’t that one of the signs of the Apocalypse?
HAHA
As bad as VY was against Seattle, where was THIS defense?
Clearly, Reid was right when he said this defense was built to play with the lead.
Now, if Reid could just guarantee that the Eagles would have the lead most of the time going to the 4th Quarter . . . then J.C. could come back as D.C.
Oh. That’s right. The Eagles had the lead 5 times and lost.
Forget it.
Nice effort from Coop Doggy Dogg.
you misspelled ‘Sunshine’.
Now that the Eagles are winning in the 2nd half . . . here’s the offense throwing the ball.
Interesting.
Is Reid that scared about the 4th Q?
The Jets look like they’re just as flat as Rex [edit] is round.
And u know it’s killing Rex and shottenheimer that Juan is out coaching them. Fundamentals Rex…fundamentals. Gap responsibility. It’s thats simple.
I hope we mix in Dion, Ronnie in the 4th Q. No reason to run Shady into the ground.
Celek’s had a great game today. I’m really hoping they get him a TD today.
2.3 games left.
I hope Reid lets Henery attempt a 50+ yard FG.
It’s be nice to know he can make one before next year.
3rd pick for Chaney, not bad. Occasionally happens to be in the right place at the right time.
PHILIP HUNT IS IN . . . Turnover!!!
Nice penalty by Mathis. Good to see him helping his teammate.
Will Henery ever get a chance to kick a long FG?
Yeah, I was hoping we’d do that. Looks like Andy made the right decision, though.
Excellent drive by the Eagles offense there. Just excellent.
C’mon two points!
DRC in for Asante.
DRC looks MUCH better on the outside. Totally different
It’s a shame Asante can’t play on the inside, because his build and ball skills are actually a better fit for it than DRC’s.
Yeah, and while I’d hate to see Samuel go; I think DRC can fill in admirably. Especially if Juan wants more of a physical play at the line.
We have a whole 4th Qtr to go. Play some backups, please. Would love to see Kafka and Dion for the final 5 minutes.
We are building mo on D
GODDAMMIT VICK WE’RE UP 25!!!! THROW THE DAMN THING AWAY!
And this is why maybe we should consider not firing everybody (says the guy who wanted to hand out pitchforks a couple weeks ago).
yeah, I think you can throw the whole “This team has quit on AR” argument. (I’ll be putting my torches back in their boxes).
I dunno, they sure looked like they quit in Seattle. I was drunk, so I don’t remember it SO clearly, but I do remember there was a reason I started drinking.
So…I’m just gonna come out and say what we’re all thinking…
Super Bowl!
:-p
Eagles have lost all chance for RG-3.
They’re moving into Ryan Tannehill Territory (TxA&M QB who played WR for 2 years. Big guy. Big Arm. Very good athlete)
Okay . . . get an MLB. Another DT. And Tannehill.
Might be out of Kuechly range now too.
You know it’s been a good day on D when our linebackers are even making plays.
Also, when Cullen Jenkins is lining up wide at LDE…
Just one little criticism: haven’t we been allowing some extra-long kick-off returns tonight?
Missing colt. Guy really did make a big difference.
Remember . . . Never as good as your best game, or as bad as your worst.
That said . . . those turnovers against SF and Buffalo killed this season
“But I’m not quite dead yet.”
-Our Season
Philip Hunt back out there. Jets can do nothing!
Vince Young is in. We’re doomed.
Surely even VY can’t blow a 32 point lead from here…
What’s the record for pick-sixes in a quarter? 😉
What’s the point of Young in when he’s going to be a free agent?
Less wear and tear on Vick.
Right, but why him rather than Kafka in that case? Does this mean we are considering keeping him around?
Good point, and god I hope they aren’t planning on keeping VY….
What aerochrome2 said.
Watching the Jets . . . They’re SLEEP WALKING through this game now.
I don’t think the Eagles did that even against Seattle — no matter what the local media and RICHARD (call me “Mike, not Dick”) FLORIO wrote.
Still . . . I’d hate to see this team go into the tournament at 8-8.
Unless they win the SB
Tebowmania is D-E-A-D . . . thank God
Glad to see Shady out. No reason to get extra hits on him.
Lets go Raiders. Any loss for an 8-win NFC team is good in my eyes, right now.
I never thought I’d see an Eagles RB better than Wilbert Montgomery.
If McCoy puts up 3 more seasons like this — not necessarily all the TDs, but the yards — he’ll be the BEST
There’s that Philip Hunt again . . . dominating.
Chas Henry . . . more than bit concerned.
One the other hand, the Eagles had Mitch Berger as a rookie punter (per Kotite) then cut him the next year. Berger went on to have a long and very, very good career.
Let’s stick with Chas. Just needs work.
Kinda like Juan . . .
God I hate Plaxico.
Hey, Tommy . . .
Why didn’t the Jets come out running the WHAM block play against Babin in Q-1?
Oh Nnamdi, a PI penalty and TD allowed. It wouldn’t be the 2011 Eagles without it.
Cannot blame Nnamdi for that TD . . . wish the Eagles had thrown all that money from VY and SSmith at Burress.
Worst trade in 28 years . . . Raiders give 2 #1s for Palmer.
In 1973, the Eagles traded 2 #1s, plus All Pro WR Harold Jackson, plus “touchdown” Tony Baker, plus a #3 in 1975.

Gabe had a great year in 1973. That was it.
I don’t get why do we have VY in the game, shouldn’t we give Kafka some reps?
Good to see Graham on the field.
A+ blocking from Maclin today. He got two guys on Celek’s long catch and run and looked like he was instrumental in several other plays.
Philip Hunt . . . once again, disrupting all possible chance for the Jets to score
What the hell is Reid doing putting Kafka in for the V-play?
Or is that Marty’s brilliant call?
Young looked like C-R-A-P!!!
Probably a dumb question, but if our D keeps this up is Juan still demoted?
Yes please, the players are just getting familiar now, but it shouldn’t change the fact that Juan is out of his league…
Results are all that matters.
I don’t care if Juan does it with voodoo hexes, if he can keep the defense playing they way they have the last two weeks, or against the Cowboys and Giants, bring him back!
Jamar Chaney had a strong finish to the season last year….. and he’s been just fabulous this year hasn’t he.
I think he has to be.
It’s kind of annoying that he’s decided to finally get this act together when it might not even matter. If he had just kept sucking it would have made it very clear. I think either way if Spags becomes available has to be out.
