PHI at TB – 1st Half
Posted: December 9th, 2012 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 175 Comments »So…who is fired up for this game? Tampa just isn’t a team that I dislike. Or really care about. I can’t remember the last time I was this ambivalent about a game. I guess being 3-9 does that to you.
I am looking forward to seeing the young guys. Big test for Bryce Brown, as he faces the #1 run defense. Can Nick Foles have a good game for the 2nd week in a row? Colt Anderson gets his first start of the season. Should be interesting to see how he does at S.
You know my primary goal is to hold Josh Freeman to a rating of less than 120. That streak has to stop. Right?
Inactives:
Vick
McCoy
Salas
Polk
Kopa
Patterson
Coleman
Really surprised to see Colt starting over Sims.
Disappointed as well.
Yeah that is kinda weird.
I hope the coaches at least let them split time as safety. Sims should see the field today on defense.
I am more excited about ginger bread houses than this game. Having said that i am with you. 120 is the magic number over 120 yards for bryce under 120 rating for josh
This game has all the excitement of a chess match for me.
I am just looking forward to watching it live, particularly as there is no off-season for us this year. Young Colt with a pick is a prediction.
Noted.
Can we get an over/under on how many times Dick Stockton miss pronounces a name?
237
over.
According to McLane’s article, Chip Kelly is the top choice heading coaching candidate. Makes me wonder if this is all a smoke screen since the Eagles dont usually have news leak out.
I have Vincent Jackson and Josh Freeman starting on my fantasy team today. I am a terrible fan.
I demand that you boo yourself.
I have started picking up the opposing teams D every week, it was the first time i ever used a Dallas player
Alright! I picked the Eagles to win…ATS. It was +9, seriously.
Let’s Go Birds!
Chaney at SAM? Interesting.
nice opening series by our D.
That was. Hope they keep it up.
Wow, two changes there. Chaney at SAM and Kendricks at WILL. I think I like Kendricks at WILL
Can we ditch the runs to the outside for a bit?
I see Dennis Kelly just got a nice introduction to Mr. Bennett. Have to watch that match-up closely today
Tampa has a legit run defense.. Gonna be a hard day for Bryce.
good, we need to see him under a real test.
Cut Maclin. Geez.
Is Josh Freeman being nice to us?
Little known fact: Brasher took up voodoo during his retirement.
This offensive line is getting dominated.
Not off to a good start.
Nice play by Chaney. Maybe he will earn himself a chance.
He’s been disappointing this year. Would be nice to see him get going.
Damarius makes the right decision. Except for the Oline, things aren’t looking too bad.
Re:
Run the Ball Straight Ahead. Bucs line is quick. Eagles line having trouble holding blocks.
Yeah… outside ain’t working.
Coaches seeing a different game than I am.
Yeah they do need to attack the middle more. If Tampa stops those too, so be it. Gotta test ’em.
Yeah, they probably have the ‘Skins game playing on the sidelines.
So Foles overthrew a wide open practice squad receiver because of pressure by former practice squad meat Te’o Nesheim…
Gotta work on his deep throws – he had McNutt there.
Pressure was the problem there.
Foles moves to the left and throws really well.
McNabb rarely moved left — only time I remember is the playoff game against the Bears in 2001 when he hit FB Cecil Martin for TD.
Was that only the first “he’ll be sought after by many teams” comment re: Reid?
Interesting how the Bucs run between the tackles and get yardage.
Hmmm.
Must be some sort of fluke. Don’t worry, we’ll keep attacking the edges whenever we get the ball back.
Stop running toward the short side of the field. geez
Re: Short-side runs
Anyone who watches Oregon and Chip Kelly know that his offense is explosive, in part, because he exploits the college game’s wider hash-marks.
He won’t have that wide field in the NFL.
He would in the CFL. Just saying…
That’s a Bingo . . . love to watch those games.
It’s like watching Arena League football on a huge field
And how many guys can you put in motion toward the line of scrimmage at once? I also like the “import” “non-import” rule… I think your roster has to be at least 50% hoser…
Re: Eagles v. Bucs – old school
The Eagles routinely beat the Bucs by big scores in the early ’00s.
Except once.
So Dick Stockton . . . please stop saying this is like the games from 10 years ago.
Yeah, but it’s not like that was the only important game or anything…
I was at that game——– it sucked. Especially with how it started
Catch the punt and go! Three jukes and wiggles was two too many.
Admit it…you just wanted to use the word “wiggle”.
Why can’t we draft guys like Te’o Nesheim???
Damn you!!!
Sorry, I should have refreshed before I made my comment…
Why can’t we play against left tackle like Dunlap
What’s the score: Punts 5, First Downs 2?
Another Steve Smith dive from Maclin.
Re: Daniel T’eo N
Roseman’s feeling vindicated
Or Banner’s
Thought Teo was pre-Roseman. Was he a Roseman pick?
Helps when you are singled against King. Te’o has what 3 sacks this year?
King’s also a Roseman guy.
I don’t think Roseman’s feeling vindicated about him.
Or his Washburn idea
We’re locked in an offensive struggle here…
That #50 for the Bucks looks like a player. Who is that guy? Teo something? How do we miss out on guys like that in the draft?
Re: McBriar
I don’t see how he’s been all that much better than the kid Chas Henry.
Why not bring the kid back. Give him some experience.
Naw, too confusing for Bobby April having two Henrys, especially with the different spellings involved!
There’s also a Bobby April III roaming the sidelines, which must really rattle him.
King Dunlap is playing like he isn’t even second in line to the throne.
So am I the only one who saw two guys raping Avant with their hands on that punt return before Parrish even caught the ball?
Didn’t see that.
John Lynch for HC
This defense looks like an NFL team.
Hold your horses there. We still have nearly three quarters left to revert to semi-pro ball on D!
I am disapointed the announcers didn’t make the T’eo Nesheim connection.
Why would he throw that to the RB with Cox on his ass?
(Okay, I just wanted to write that…)
Wiggle.
That looks like a shoulder or collarbone for Nnamdi…
Would be ironic to have him start playing well only to get hurt.
It’s a little late to start playing well anyway.
Much like the Boykin return/fumble, it would really crystallize this season…
I’m not sure, looked like he landed more on his back and head on the replay.
Which is interesting because usually his head is up his ass. Hmm.
Re: the CBs
If Reid’s agreeing with Lynch’s lambasting of their effort . . . why the hell would Reid continue to start them?
Exactly how bad are Marsh and Hughes?
We’ll know if a woozy Nnamdi wanders out there on the next possession…
i remember seeing something that nnamdi has a playtime incentive in his contract. that might make for some kind of labor situation if they sit him while healthy, just to get a look at the younger guys. i dunno? lol
Marsh, Roseman 3rd rounder…the legend continues
I think we have more concussions than first downs…
There’s been a Clay Harbor sighting!
one where he wasnt beaten horribly in pass pro! yay!
Wait, what happens now that we crossed that yellow line, I forget?
lol bryce brown runs backwards. : (
Wow
holy crap. even if he comes down out of bounds, thats still an amazing catch!
Avant! He made a grab like that a few years ago against San Diego…
Wow, wow, wow. If only he was two tenths faster…
Unbelievable.
Sideline Report: Nnamdi Asomugha has lost track of the Eagles assistant leading him to the locker room.
he was expecting safety help over the top and didnt get it.
Hilarious
that’s funny
We’re winning
well, let’s play to keep the lead
you know you’re oline stinks when Garry Gibson is taking shots at your QB
22 straight FGs. i dont care how many of them are chip shots, thats still pretty damn impressive.
Sadly, Foles throwing it into the ground right there on third down is probably the most important play of the game so far…
TB came in with 18 sacks in 12 games. They have 3 against this improving Oline…just sayin’
Sadly, I am also starting Bryce Brown in fantasy today. The Eagles offensive line has switched over to the turnstyle blocking technique.
Ryan Rau checks in on special teams…
nice. i was just wondering who 53 was. the return of Mark Simoneau, thankfully not!
Ugh. That guy.
Ryan Rau was actually encouraging in the preseason, though his performance was met with a lot of “it’s just the preseason.” That said, I’m glad we got him on the practice squad and now on the team… it’s good to finally have a promising linebacker who played college in the state of Oregon on the team.
Re: O-line / D-line
I don’t remember seeing the O-line this bad in all phases of the game this season — at least so far. They’re being beating physically and scheme-wise.
The D-line . . . makes we wonder where the defense would be if Washburn had never come to Philadelphia.
Wow, over 100 yards of total offense so far (if you combine both teams, that is).
Ryan Rau . . . special teams demon.
Should have been on the roster.
I’m just glad he’s finally on it. I assumed he would get scooped up by someone else…
Who is #23?
That guy’s a tackling machine! He might have just played his way onto the roster!
Apparently he had a talk with his financial advisor.
Man a bad team really brings out the best of the humor comments
Still hoping we can get him for cheap this offseason
WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!?!
DRC just tackled martin in open space? and it was a nice tackle?!? whatthe…
Who’s that guy wearing the Rodgers-Cromartie jersey?
Wow. DRC on the run stop.
When DRC plays hard — like “NFL hard” — he’s actually very good
Our best defensive performance of the year in the making?
At least since the bye.
Tampa is somewhat inept, but the D is playing well.
Re: Eagles’ D
Lack of Pass Rush will cost later
Trent Cole’s hit on Freeman counts, near TO
Eagles not getting consistent pressure.
Back-end coverage night-and-day from last 6 weeks.
2-min warning . . . Time for the hard count
Wow… both tackles whiffed on that play.
Slowest TD run ever
that was kind of funny to watch.
Nothing ‘kind of’ about it
oh. I thought that was the replay 🙂
holy foles.
Foles looked just like Vick! Oh my god! Put some tennis balls on the bottom of your walker, son!
KF-III
Ha!
Randall Folesingham?
Watching the Vikes game, but just saw the highlight of Foles’ run. That was slower than Byron Leftwich’s touchdown run!
Holy Crap. Maclin threw a nice block
How many rushing TDs did Vick have this season? Also, great block in the end zone on that.
I think we start running the option with Foles…
As long as one of the options is an end around, since every defender on the field will have a chance to get over to the play side.
Bucs are respecting Brown so much that it just might work
There’s your answer on Curtis Marsh…
curtis marsh pass broken up? hey now
I can’t believe Andy didn’t take a timeout after that sack…
Oh… he waited 7 seconds to call it. Sure.
there it is
2 minute warning and the pass rush shows up, i guess!
Foles bootleg sneak! Come on!
Take the knee. Mostly bad things can happen from here
T-Law . . .
You have to like what you see today from the defense.
Seems like we’re getting lots of zone coverage.
Wow. Maclin blocked!!
Tommy, if the defense looks like this the last 3/4 weeks do the chances of Bowles staying get pretty high? I think we all underestimated the effect of Wash vs. the world had on Bowles perceived ineffectiveness
Nice throw from Foles even though it was just off.
Oh man so close
We had a 63 yarder made against us on this very field…
This is like bizzarro world Philadelphia Eagles. Maclin is blocking downfield. The secondary is playing fairly well. The D is tackling. What the hell’s going on out there?!
So would the defense always look like this without Coleman?
I haven’t yelled at the safeties all day.
I do NOT recognize this football team in green
ugh…. a false start on a long FG attempt. smh…
Plenty of leg… would’ve been good from 65ish…
That hit high on the upright. And whoever false started owes Henery some slippers, or whatever kickers like.
One of the announcers said, would have been good from 70. Wow, he killed it. Missed it by 8 inches.
AHHHHH FG hits the upright from 58 yards. damn!
i wanted to see his streak of consecutive FGs keep going.
He’s so fucking good. Never thought a 4th round kicker would be worth it.
did anyone see if his ‘practice’ kick from 53 would have been good or not?
OK . . . penalty on Mathis on a FG?!?!?!?!?!?!
Now I recognize this group
May have been No 68 – Matt Tennent
Either way . . . HORRIBLY STUPID.
All you do is block the guy running into your face.
Hit the top of the upright, no less, on a 58 yarder…
