TOMMY!!!! Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, Happy Valentine’s Day, and a Joyful Flag Day.
SHUTOUT!! Eagles 27 – Giants 0
So friggin’ beautiful.
SHUTOUT! SHUTOUT! SHUTOUT!
WOOT
The saddest moment for a Giants player isn’t when he learned Santa isn’t real, it’s when he learned Casey Matthews is.
Genius.
Dear Santa, please let Darren’s knee be alright.
Dear Santa, don’t make me wait till Christmas for Darren’s knee to be alright.
I’m legitimately sad that he got hurt. And, I hate those damned dirty Giant players that twisted him backward on purpose after the play. This is why I hate the giants they always seem to pull this bull shit.
So predictable tommy…good night eagles nation….gotta figure out what I am doing next Sunday…..
LOL – “Bill Davis for president. Or emperor or whatever….”
FTW!!!
The Eagles are 5-1, but they could easily be 0-5.
well, 1-5. this game wasn’t close at all. agree with the 7 pt or less games though
Poor Desean and his 1-5 record… But he got his 100yd 1 TD
hell of a YPC avg he has though
LOL – I watched that game today (only one I had @4). He missed a block on 3rd down that caused them to punt. He also dogged it on a few plays when they didn’t go his way.
That post means, “JPP can bite me.”
The guy that was quoted was hardly seen this day! Suppose the shame for that mathematical mastery was too great.
i’m sure even he could accurately count how many points the giants scored
I actually feel happier for Tommy than I do for the team (or anyone else for that matter). He’s been wanting a shutout for soooo long and finally it happens.
Lol
Tommy,
I know you have been waiting for this for a long time. So have I. Congratulations to both of us.
This is the game that launches our Defemse to the next level.. We feast on cardinals next, we will beat them in the trenches as well..and if we win the trenches, we win the game…
…
Good thing I was supposed to hide under my bed because the big bad Giants were coming…
After the disaster last week, they stepped up. We have lost 3 ILBs to injury and still dominated the front with Matthews/Acho as the fill-ins. This defense is starting to gel.
Hoping that Carson Palmer stays healthy next week. A stationery target is a good target
Complete team win…Coop,Mac,jordan, all 3 TEs, both RBs, OL, DBs, Front 7,..STs… Everyone brought it!
I’m sure the FolesTrolls will be out with something negative any second now
Foles was really good pretty much all night except for those 2 head scratchingly bad ints. He sailed one over cooper, but otherwise I can’t really think of any throws that were noticeably off.
Best of both worlds, dominating win and two bad interceptions to kill him. They were bad throws. If your trying to throw it away. THROW it away.
I’m hardly a Foles troll (I’ve been cautiously optimistic about him for a long time now), but he’s got to cut it out with the bad interceptions. One of them he threw without looking where the defender was, the other he tried to force in on a play that just wasn’t there instead of throwing it away. Both mistakes you can’t have your quarterback making in, say, the NFC championship game.
He’s had his moments this year, but he also has the most turnovers of any player in football, and that can’t keep up if we’re going to be a Super Bowl team.
I agree with you but as I posted earlier: he is still a young qb and I know he and Kelly will fix his mistakes as the year goes on. He knows he is making dumb mistakes. That TD to Ertz was just beautiful….
It was. When he’s right, he looks every bit a franchise quarterback. He just needs to be right a bit more consistently.
That is a totally fair criticism and if you take away those two completely dumb throws he is essentially perfect tonight. Regardless though, our whole team played very well.
Truth!
That display on the end was pretty damn embarrassing for the Giants.
Really Embarressing…where can I find a COUGHLIN press Confrence?
prob. nfl network
Petty and poor sportsmanship. What the hell was Coughlin thinking?
didnt see it … was too busy putting $10 in the juke box to play the entire rocky soundtrack on repeat while I shadow boxed at the exit to the bar and watched all the giants fans leave with their tails between their legs…what happened?
Even Bo gave Tommy a shoutout on the post-game show for the shutout
Seriously though… the Giants were not prepared for black sunday…
they should have watched the video
Emmanuel Acho @thEMANacho 53 sek.54 sekunder siden
They say you’re only supposed to wear all black to a funeral… Well, #FlyEaglesFly #Shutout #27-0
LOVE IT!!!!
Wow!
well, wasn’t a perfect night…

D’oh.
JPP was very prophetic with his 0-4 prediction. They scored 0 points for 4 quarters.
NICE!
This is brilliant!
I’m going to savor reading the NY sports sections tomorrow.
Was scratching my head when Dungy was asked about our defense and he started talking about how good Dallas is….. So biased lol.
All in all REALLY good win, obviously. This game gave us a taste of what he could be, kind of like the Bears game last year. We have the bye week to get Kendricks back and then to beat the CARDS.
NFL Network is talking about how good the DAL defense has gotten this year.
The same evening the Eagles defense sacked Eli Manning 8 times, shut
out an offense that spent the past 3 weeks scoring 30+ points per game
and has 19 straight games with a turnover. Where is the love, man?
That is fine. Under the radar is fine. Offense looked good.
Defense looked dominant. O-line will be back to full strength just in
time for the push to the playoffs. Then, the Eagles really start
punching people in the mouth!
I think the reason the Cowboys D is getting a lot of attention is because they were historically bad last year and predicted to be among the worst in the NFL this year.
That TD pass to Ertz doe!
IT WORKED!
Defense: You know, it looked like Billy Davis used press-man to give the front 7 time to kick ass. I also didn’t see as much “prevent” at the end of the game. I saw attack mode!
Funny how it works to press man with big CBs instead of off coverage.
Let’s hope this isn’t the only time we see it this year.
Every NFL team from New York City got shutout this month! What a bunch of sorry losers!
I’m so excited about this win. The most hated rival (for me) and we just dominated all game. No let down. 60 minutes of football. This is a win to enjoy for a couple weeks.
One huge topic we haven’t touched on: The Eagles learned how to run a clock a bit more efficiently than in previous games! We bled a ton of clock off and if we had the starters in we could have run probably at least twice the time. Good job to Kelly for finding a weakness and improving.
Collingsworth talked about this. They didn’t huddle but went to the line and it seemed to work better for them.
Huddling is for pussies.
I’m a fan of Auburn’s quick break huddle. They huddle, then get into formation quickly at the last minute.
http://coachgrabowski.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/uptempo-huddle.gif
The Eagles did this several times last year.
I don’t remember it then. I just remember this year (and last year) it being so awkward. Perhaps its just more natural to them this year, particularly this game.
The Tampa and Packers game
Didn’t get to see the Tampa game, that could be part of my amnesia.
Packers game they ran off like the last 9 minutes.
Awesome way to start the week. Marky happy now, wife play with pee pee. GO BIRDS!!
ROFLMAO
I hope this isn’t a celebration reserved for shutouts.
Once every 18 years?
The Eagles shutout finally gave me a good excuse to open the bottle of Philadelphia Eagles “Rollout” Cabernet sauvignon I had bought.
Btw the all black looks a billion times better than the Black jersey midnight green pants we once went with.
Yea I was just saying this. The black/green is terrible. Black/white is ok but not great, and the all black is cool.
Had to take another look at that DRC/Prince picture…
The Eagles aren’t the team to beat in the NFC East. They’re the team to lose to.
Looking forward to Thanksgiving anyone?
OMG i’m gonna be a wreck! We gon’ wrangle them cowbitches.
SHUTOUT!!! Haven’t posted in a loooong time, but had to take the time to give a SHOUTOUT to Tommy for the SHUTOUT!
October 12th is now Tommy Lawlor Day. Mark you calendars.
Side note: Coughlin should be called out for the way that game ended. I know you want to save face by trying to put something on the board, but seriously… you already lost your best offensive weapon for the year, and you try to drag out the game and risk more of your players (and Eagles players for that matter) for no good reason. Complete bulls&$#t! I thought there were no moral victories in football, but yet he tries to score meaningless points at the end of a game where he got completely dominated, and now, completely outclassed.
Coughlin gets the jerk of the week award.
Well Coughlin did put in as many 2nd stringers, so really cant fault him. Same with the Eagles. Why not give Nassib and the backups some snaps? Not like he went with the FG after the penalty gift.
Yeah, I’m not sure what the complaint is here.
Would be different if he still had Eli in and just called draw plays or some stupid shit
Had to take another look at the DRC/Amukamara picture…
True story- my first Eagles game at the Vet was the shutout against the Giants in 1996. Ty Detmer was the QB and it was cold and rainy. This one was sweeter.
Yes, because there hasn’t been another one since!
I get the feeling that if you offered Tommy a lifetime supply of Funyuns & PBR AND Megan Fox in exchange for this shutout, he might actually have to think about it for a few seconds.
I’m loving we can fly under the radar for a few more weeks. The NFL Channel is saying Dallas is the best team in the NFL and it’s all they can talk about. Let them talk, we’re coming baby…
That defense is looking better than I thought and Murray is just beasting right now, but Murray is gonna be at like 300 carries by Thanksgiving and not sure that Cowboys defense can keep it up if the Dallas ground game can not control the game
Seattle’s offense isn’t that explosive. If you can get their running game in check, you can beat them. I think their CBs are a bit overrated (not saying they aren’t good), but they’ve been struggling a bit more this year since they are cracking down on contact more often.
Seattle has a ton of talent, but they aren’t explosive on offense. I think it’s starting to catch up with them.
I know Kelly hates TOP, but I think it is telling that in their two losses Seattle lost the TOP battle very loopsided.
That of course ties to that the offense isnt super explosive and it also helps a bad defense mask how bad it is, if the offense has the ball all the time.
Good observation. The Eagles offense can be explosive, and can score quick. It depends on how your team is setup.
The weird thing is, they kept their OWN running game in check. Lynch had 2 carries in the first half? Their offensive coordinator just called an idiotic game.
I couldn’t watch the game because my market forced me to watch AZ/Redskins. But I’ve never thought Seattle’s offense was that good, it was always their defense. I’m wondering if San Diego gave enough tape for the rest of the league to catch up or if it’s the new rules emphasis that’s causing them to not be so dominant.
That’s all any national media outlet can talk about.
Tommy I know you’ve wanted this for so long…me too! Happy shut out!!!
How insane is it that a defense coached by Jim Johnson and with guys like Brian Dawkins, Trotter etc. could never pinch a shut out, but Bill Davis does it with spar parts found in FA?
Jim Johnson didn’t have Casey Matthews, that’s why.
or Paper Bair
I think this front seven is really good. They can get pressure with practice squad players. They’ve lost 3 ILBs to injury and still dominate up front. That says something.
yea, but look up some of the early 2000 defenses or the 2008 for that matter, we was among the best in yards, sacks, turnovers and points and yet never had a shut out.
Does this mean we finally have a defense to shut down opponents?
They just did!
Maybe we can start getting respect, especially from our own fans!!!
So with our 5-1 record going into the buy, what do you think our record will be at the end of the regular season?
Tough to say. Next slate of games is going to be tough.
15-1!!!! Ok seriously I don’t know. I’m just enjoying the moment.
I said 12-4 before the season started. I’m not sure, but I think of all things our next 4 games are going to determine how we finish. I think we go 5-1 the last 6 games of the season, but if we can go 3-1 over the next 4 weeks, we may get a bye.
The winner of the NFCE might get that 1st seed
You know that’s funny. Before the season everyone was ripping how weak our division was. Now, we’ve got two teams legitimately in talks about late season runs. Funny thing is, even the Giants might sneak in the wild card.
Really tough schedule coming up.
What’s amazing is how easy Dallas’ is. They pretty much got all their tough games out of the way already.
Romo makes every December game look tough.
No, they still have to play us….. twice.
Not sure why people think we have it tough after the bye…Arizona, Texans, Titans are all garbage teams. Carolina is decent but imminently beatable. Green Bay is the only team that scares me. Cowboys, Seahawks, Cowboys, Redskins, Giants is a laughably difficult way to end the season. Those last 5 games are all blood baths. Yes, even the skins…division games are always tough.
Awww, Cardinals aren’t garbage but we should win that one, especially with a week to prepare.
15-1 is this a trick question?
I was at the game tonight. That place was rocking. Fans were into all game and were loud. Could you guys at home tell?
Problem is stadium noise on TV is controled by the TV station. They can make the stadium sound silent even if rocking and the other way around
So we are -5 in our TO differential now…. WOOF. That’s why, no matter how many turnovers we have in a game, we still have a chance to win. Incredible.
Funny is, that gives us margin for positive regression unless Foles decides that he wants to throw at least 1 int per game to make up for last year
lol, he is on pace as of now!
First text to Baloophi: “Tommy will love this.”
Also gotta give credit to Stoutland, he had Molk and Tobin ready to play really well today
GEAGLE: Vinny Curry with 4 sacks and a FF thus far this season. How do you feel about your scenario with Dion Jordan?
I don’t want that guy. He seems a total mess, but I’m not a scout. This is why professionals get paid. He seems to make mistake after mistake in Miami, but sometimes a change of scenery changes someone. I’m not opposed to it, but I’m concerned it’s not a slam dunk like most people expect.
2 weeks of being “giddy” – I can’t think of a better word for it. I will enjoy this immensely, but at the same time, the Cards game can’t get here soon enough.
