Another WR and a LB
Posted: April 29th, 2017 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 421 Comments »The Eagles used their 5th round pick on WR Shelton Gibson, a 5-11, 191 speedster from West Virginia. He “only” ran 4.50 at the Combine, but was faster at his Pro Day with a 4.42. That is the kind of speed he showed on game tape. Gibson averaged 23 yards a catch for his career. He had 17 TD receptions over the last 2 years. Carson Wentz just got another weapon.
Gibson can be a downfield threat, but is also dangerous after the catch. The Eagles want to throw deep and Gibson helps there, but he also is a guy you can get the ball to on screens. He can turn a short catch into a big gain.
Gibson has added value as a RS. He averaged 24 yards per KOR in his career, with 1 TD. Good value pick in the 5th round.
DGB and Nelson Agholor have to be nervous after seeing the Eagles take Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson. There will be a lot of competition for roster spots and playing time. Keep this in mind…the Eagles brought both Gibson and Hollins to Philly for visits. These are players they targeted. Both help the team on offense, but also on STs.
***
With the final pick in the 5th round, the Eagles added Nate Gerry from Nebraska. He was a SS in college, but will move to LB in the NFL.
Gerry is 6-2, 218. Ran 4.58 at the Combine. That’s a solid size/speed combination. He didn’t have the cover skills to be a starting S in the NFL, but has good athleticism for a LB. He was a good box defender in college and played the run very well. Gerry still managed to have 13 INTs so he continues the trend of these draft picks being highly productive.
We don’t know what Mychal Kendricks future is so Gerry gives the Eagles a body at that spot for them to develop for the future. Gerry also has a chance to be an outstanding STer. Keep in mind that LB Bryan Braman wasn’t re-signed so the team could use a LB to take his spot.
Good pick.
_
Why are we wasting draft capital on Gerry? He’s universally rated as a UDFA player. This is as wasteful as Countess was last year.
I like him way better at LB than at S.
That’s fair
Kendricks replacement at WILL
NICE!
Yeah. COMPLETELY changes the context for that pick. Now I’m pumped bout it.
I’d like it more as UDFA
Douglass doesn’t draft like that, and apparently neither does belicheat
I give no quarter on wasted draft capital.
That seems very generous
So is allowing Kendricks to keep paychecks.
I’d have rather taken a FCS guy who actually plays LB than a roided up SS
Totally fair
ok so I’m not the only one that thought he had a low dose D-bol or Sustanon 250 look to him
Not
at
all
Indeed – developmental guy for that role…
Universally? Uh, no. I’ve seen him generally rated in the 5th-6th round area. ESPN had him ranked only a few slots lower on the overall board than he went. Some people may have rated him an UDFA but it was by no means “universal”.
NFL.com had him udfa.
CBS had him 329th overall
Draft tek 311
Walter football – 4th to 6th.
So 3 of my favorite 4 (ESPN is on boycott due to excessive “insider” BS; as if my cable bill isn’t enough money for those clowns!) have him really later than we took him.
Most guys taken this late in the draft have grades ranking from “late round pick” to “UDFA”, because there are more players on that level than draft slots. My point stands that he was not “universally” considered undraftable.
Boxing on…!!!
Thank you Showtime!
Thank you RTL (free tv channel in Germany)!
I need to run through a few of my Euro stops and (sorry) Austrian beer bottle purchases when we get on a slower thread.
No problem. I’m currently at my parents home in Munich and having the best Lager beer in the world: Augustiner.
Massive upvote for Augustiner. There is basically a cult here in Denmark celebrating that beer. I think it started as a joke in a danish sit com.
Shit I didn’t even realize we lost Braman. Did he sigń elsewhere or is there still a chance he could be brought back? Braman and Maragos brought a lot of fun to our ST units but as we transition away from key contributors like Braman and Sproles hopefully Fipp and the Front office can keep our ST. unit firing on all cylnders.
.
Special teams was one of the more consistently enjoyable aspects of the chip era.
He’s been replaced adequately. move on. ST got better today overall.
Braman is pretty much useless as anything other than a ST player. Better use of a roster spot to have a guy who can be a core STer and play snaps from scrimmage without killing you it necessary (Maragos is a good example).
How is kruger Hill occupying a roster spot any different?
Really? Maragos scared me to death every time he stepped on the field and it wasn’t a kick of some kind :S
Maragos is still a better safety than Jaylin Watkins.
No . . . just . . . no.
How many picks do we have left? One 6th and one 7th?
no 7th. 1 more – that 6th
Cowgirls just took Xavier Woods, did we really take Gerry with Woods still on the board?
We are so very very stupid
yeah some of these picks have been disappointing but that usually tends to happen whenever you have expectations…all the months of psyching up ourselves about Douglas, Wiedl ,all the over analysis …first-pick experiments etc. could only lead to disappointment.
Anyways, we won’t know the true outcome of this draft until at least a couple of years from now
have we seen any playërs traded yet during this draft (league wide)?
Not during I don’t think
Kapri Bibbs and James O’Shaunesgey
So Howie needs to move 3 to take a commanding lead
Blount or Charles?!
Which veteran RB would you like?!
Blount due to cheap cost and better health and need of a big back.
Yeah I’d agree with that. Need power more than speed considering what we have in our RB room at the moment
..
Any chance we are mistaken in assuming Ryan Mathews will be waived? I Really don’t want to see him on the team again this year
Blount. You can rake him over the coals with guaranteed money due to his suspensions.
Kind of disappointed a bit that Eagles weren’t able to move Kendricks or Kelce for an extra 5th or 6th this year.
And Barbre and Matthews………but all will be (eventually) forgiven when all 4 and converted to assets………
More vet trades happen in camp when teams suddenly realise that 5th round pick they thought could start is actually a bumb and they need a position, or a key player gets injured.
You get better value trading for future picks anway.
I agree.
Barbre – 2018 7th
Kelce – 2018 5th
Kendricks – 2018 5th
Matthews – 2018 4th that becomes a 3rd w/ 50 catches or new contract with new team.
Only guys moved were cheap rookie deal guys
Yeah I was a bit surprised that more veteran guys weren’t moved although need numbers vs previous years.
Almost seems like their value has been discounted a bit too much.
We are short a 2nd next year. Im fine moving those guys for mid round picks in the 2018 draft in stead of 6 and 7 round picks this year. And itll be easier in training camp, once certain teams begin to figure out what kind of holes they need to plug before september.
Any mock draft 2018 that doesn’t have the Eagles picking Chubb in next year’s first round will suck more than Cramer’s announcement of the Eagles’ 4th round pick today.
Nick Chubb for President of The USA 2024
Let’s get working on our Saquon Barkley bong gas mask video
Pay the guy behind him at the combine piss test to poor in a glass of water to his sample.
We’ll see.. it’s clear the Roseman/Douglas/Pederson brain trust doesn’t view RB as a position that requires premium draft capital. My guess would be that unless Vaitai blossoms OT will be a top priority next offseason.
Thats going to be hard since the eagles will be picking in the end of the round.
How bout Bucky Hodges with our 7th?
he just went
Anywhere to look to see how many times the Eagles ran 3 and 4 WR sets last year?
They should have more WR depth there than at any time I can remember and certainly seems like that is the way they’ll go this year.
Might be misleading in that we didn’t even have 3 or 4 WR we wanted on the field so whatever last years total is might not be an accurate representation of how much they would like to have 3-4 WR on the field now that we have way more talent at the position than we had last year
,,
Will be interesting to go back and see how many times we used it last year compared to how many times we see it this year now that we practically overhauled the WR position
Can’t find formations but passing attempts
288 passing attempts out of 3 wide
184 attempts out of 4 wide
Hard to play a ton of 4 wide because you either take Ertz off the field or you go empty (which is gonna get Wentz hit)
Yeah and they don’t have a good passing-block RB either.
Can’t see Wentz making those quick reads either or them having the WRs that would function well running 5 or 7 yards routes underneath and across the middle.
Of any team the past 25-30 years, the ‘Run and Shoot’ Oilers were the one I can remember that ran the most 4 WR sets.
Moon was a very experienced QB, White was a very good passing RB, and they had 2 WRs who were very good at running routes, finding space underneath, and holding on to the ball (Givins, Hill).
I mean, not exactly like we had a reason to go 3 or 4 wide, other than when necessity called for it. We had like half a good WR last year.
I’d rather be in 12 more often than 11 long term anybody, but JMatt being useless anywhere but slot…………
Im in college and have been super busy, so I didnt follow the draft as closely as in the past so just wondering what your thoughts have been…good, bad, average draft?
Underwhelming for the soul
What is your grade for this draft so far? I know you hated the 2nd round pick and don’t seem to enamored on what they did today either.
Derek Barnett: Good pick
Sidney Jones: Why. Too early. There were good CBs that could play this year. Not super athlete before achilles tear. Weighs 12lbs
Rasul Douglas: Going to get worked this year. Could eventually become ok CB2. Gonna have to really work to avoid deep shit
Hollins: Best case he turns into non racist Riley Cooper low level WR2. Most likely he’s a ST guy and WR4/5
Pumphrey: So So So So fucking stupid.
Gibson: Specific sticking skill. Big Upside
Gerry: Piss off Joe
Grade: C (could bump to plus or minus depending on the 7 and UDFA)
Thanks. Still would have like to see a RB beyond Pumphrey and I don’t see how this secondary isn’t Swiss Cheese again.
Not a McLeod fan (especially on how he played in the 2nd half) and seeing Jenkins try & fail to cover WRs in the slot was tough last year.
Mills is the worst outside CB they had too even with some of the real duds they have put out there the past several years. Appreciate he has confidence but it was almost comedic relief watching WRs run right by him despite him playing 5-7 yards off.
Basically have to hope they have a ‘bend don’t break’ defense that has some success in the red zone and forces its share of turnovers again.
Hard to see how they don’t give up passing yards in frightening chunks again though.
They’ve got to do something at RB and CB still.
Matt Dayes/De’veon Smith/Elijah Hood and a trade for Kyle Fuller and I’ll feel better about the season.
Right now we’re gonna have to install the Air Raid to win shoot outs every week.
Hated Pederson’s game plans in last 10 or so games of last season with Wentz throwing so much.
Gonna be more of the same, no?
Probably worse.
Andy’s gonna call him and tell him to chill the fuck out
Yeah having Wentz throw the ball 45+ times in a game seems like a recipe for disaster.
http://i.imgur.com/r0brUpg.gif
Wentz attempted 40+ passing attempts last year in 7 games. Eagles went 1-6 and only won the meaningless season finale vs Boys’ backups when he did.
Hope that another year and a big upgrade at WR should help change that a bit. Just can’t see this team having a winning record in those games this year though either.

Coach –
How do you see Pumpy handling blitz pick-up on someone like Alex Ogletree?
Did you see that they’re talking Pump as a slot WR for a lot of snaps as well?
saw that.
made me think he’ll be used the way the Rams use Austin.
but running him out of the backfield gets him on a LB or S — mismatch, you’d hope.
Thank god we’re not paying Austin prices for that.
WTF really?
Well; if you know you’re not keeping Jordan Matthews and the two guys you drafted today are Alshon / Torrey replacements…………
https://twitter.com/Astonia67/status/858377913439322112
That atmosphere in Wembley is absolutely stunning. *Sweet Caroline
Looks it on TV. They expect Joshua to do something epic and then call out that trash Fury.
So you think J will knock out the steel hammer?!
No, but that crowd does. It wouldn’t shock me however.
I don’t have any feeling for that fight…
How do you feel about it now?
Dutch Kickboxing is really where it’s at. Savages like “the rebel” Gokan Saki (most exciting combat athlete in the world), Badr Hari (when he isn’t in a morrocan prison), Tyrone Spong, african KO King Zack Mwekassa
..
Rico Verhoeven would batter Klitchko, Joshua and Make fury look really stupid.
.
Boxing is in trouble unless The Big Drama show is fighting or Chocalitito. Sad that there really isn’t a compelling Big name superfight for Tripple G
Tripple G is an exiting dude, but I feel a lot of boxing ends up disappointing. Sadly, that shit has begun to creep into the UFC lately. Not a lot of good fights in 2017 IMO.
Some really good UFC fights coming up tho. The next PPV should be really compelling with two titles Stipe Miocic vs JDS is better than any heavyweight title fight that boxing could possibly put together
..
Joanna Jedrzejczyk is also defending her title, and I would pay to watch her fight more than I’d pay to see any man who is currently fighting in any combat sport. I just adore that tiny Polish badass
..
The last UFC on Fox a couple weeks ago DIDNT have many big name fighters besides Mighty Mouse defending his title, but it was a fantastic action packed night that produced some wild wars and stellar finishes
..
Demian Maia vs Gamebred Masvidal also excites me
.
Eddie alvarez vs Poier should be a fun fight
That’s a stacked fight Card and some other really good fights booked for the next few months
The thing is the fucking injuries man, and dont get me started on assholes who can’t keep of the Tiramisu long enough to make weight for a great fight. Meanwhile Conor is off chasing fucking Mayweather, which admittedly would be cool, but jesus christ can we get someone to fight at the top of the lightweight division.
I agree with the Miocic/JDS event, theres great fights or great fighters there. I love Joanna Champions too, Maia is finally getting some recognition with his ground and pound, Yair Rodriguez is a super exiting dude.
I like Gustaffson, but the rest of that card is garbage. 212 just screams like an event that’ll disappoint to me, Derrick Lewis is fun to watch, but a pretty generic card, I think Holm will destroy Bethe Correia and Chiesa vs. Lee seems like a super shitty event. Seems like the next actually great fight is Garbrandt v Dillashaw and there hasn’t been announced shit about who else will fight that night.
Hopefully I’m wrong and some of these fights that seems uneventful will turn out great. I’d just rather see the big fights, seems like UFC are a little hesitant when it comes to letting the top guys fight, compared to previously.
Khabib Nurmagomedov pulling out of the Ferguson fight was about as heartbreaking as it gets, but I dont think Conor wants to get in a cage with El Cuccuey or Khabib, and until he fights one of them, there really isn’t a compelling fight outside of the rubber match with Nate.
..
Every day that Demien Maia walks around without the welterweight title is a travesty. Im a big Masividal fan, but if Maia strangles him like I expect, the UFC Better stop playing games and give Maia his title shot against Woodley, and woodley will get strangled too.
.
I thing Gegard Moussasi is really entering his prime and will be involved in some exciting big name fights in the MW division. I knew he would beat Weidman. Yoel Romero is about as exciting as it gets, and Jacare is still a high level MW. I think the Robert Whitaker kid from Australia ISNT far from really reaching that upper echelon MWs. bisping vs GSP is so stupid. Absurd to let GSP fight for the MW title, because if he wins the title I giarentee he will vacate it before he sets foot in the cage with MW killers like Romero, Jacare or Moussasi. GSP ISNT even close to big enough to compete with a MW like Weidman
..
Some exciting fighters like Robbie Lawler, Vincente Luque, Rockhold, Jon Jones, Overeem will be fighting this summer. It certainly hasn’t been a great year for the UFC but they have had dips before and always came back strong.
..
the HW division is in decent shape right now especially if Cain and Werdum also return as contenders along with Overeem for the winner of Stipe JDS
..
The LHW division is in pretty bad shape after DC vs Jon, Gustafson is still competing at a high level but Rumble retired. They need to find some fresh blood at LHW which is weird because it’s always been a strong division historically
..
Im really enjoying the MW division these days, and there will be some good MATCHUPS once we get Bisping/GSP over with
..
Welterweight is in good shape with wonder boy, Woodley, Maia, Robbie, dos Anjos
.
Lightweight will be ok once the stupid Mayweather/McGreggor fight is out of The way. Pains me that so many people with pay for such a worthless Gimick of a fight
.
Garbrant/TJ should be a lot of fun
.
Might mouse is on top of the world and getting better each fight.
.
And no matter what happens with the men, Im really pleased with the state of the woman divisions.
.
Hoping Nick Diaz comes back against someone like Robbie Lawler, wonder boy, Bisping. Maia vs Nick Diaz for the welterweight title would be a dream to see if Nicks Ju jitsu can survive on the ground against Maia which is practically unheard of
.
The UFC has had slumps before, but they typically have always rebounded strong. And you are right about some crappy looking fight cards like Holly vs Betch C, but many times the cards that look really underwhelming on paper have turned out to be some of the most exciting nights of fights, and you know they always try to put together some huge fights for the summer.
Hopefully we see them Eliminate the weight cutting once and for all
Lots of good points. I was devastated with Ferguson/Khabib, namely because it meant Conor was a goner because of a lacking challenger. And the big fat pile of money both he and the UFC is set to make if they actually close mayweather. I hope Conor just accepts defeat after being unable to hit may weather, because its Floyd its not gonna be a fight, and then just takes the dude down and chokes him out, whats Floyd gonna do about a rear naked choke, he’s never seen that in his life and its not like he can read about it.
Maia is a fucking warrior and I hope he gets his dues too. Maia vs. Woodley will actually be a good fight, but again, thats exactly what i want, 2 guys(or girls) in the top 5 of their class matched up. Its been lacking lately, and when it happens we get fucking DC vs. AJ and tha whole shitshow from DC cheating weight and AJ giving up before the fight.
I agree with gegard, but thats another division that gets hold hostage by fucking Biesping. I love GSP, but that fight is so disrespectful to everyone in that division. Yoel Romero might be an asshole and a borderline cheater, but he deserves to crush Biesping. Gegard probably gets Weidman in a rematch, which will be a good fight again. Pathetic from the UFC.
Thats one of the things I love about Mighty Mouse, that dude defends his belt and just continues his dominance. Its a real shame theres no-one able to challenge him, because I just wanna watch Demetrious fight all the time, but he’s kicked the ass of everyone even close to a shot at his belt. They let him demolish someone twice a year, but DJ will never get his dues which is sad because of how good he is and how likable he is.
I agree with the HW div. Theres a lot of potential in there for the future. I hope you’re right about LHW, mainly I just wanna se Jon Jones return and kick DCs ass again. Jon Jones is a grade A asshole, but i can’t stand DC talking thrash when he was utterly destroyed by Bones in their first bout. LHW div. are in shambles though, I agree with that, what the fuck happened there. Used to be the best one.
I seriously doubt Nick Diaz comes back, seems like the Pat Lundvall is out to fuck him over. That hearing was a travesty.
Need to figure out weight cutting, but also the ruleset and the judges who suck, especially the recent NY have been mindblowingly bad.
Trades could be after draft – as in our over-priced, expendable players for your over-priced expendable players. Both teams will generate dead money, but perhaps acquire players at position of need. Better than just dead money by cutting a player for no return.
I’d prefer getting back whatever the best 2018 draft picks Howie can get. And the added bonus of freeing up valuable playing time for our young guys while they’re cheap.
Feel like JD and HR got too caught up in the finding “philly tough” guys this year and left talent on the board. We’ve been down the culture road before. This draft was hard to screw up. It’s a solid B/B- effort, but it could have been way better. While we are a better team this week than last, but we did little to close the gap between us an Dallas.
Closing the gap’s gonna take 3-4 drafts.
That’s a long time. But look at the roster.
And look at how long it’s taken Dallas to get where they are.
Yeah this is an interesting yet highly flawed roster yet too. Still need to see how this team looks in preseason to get a better feel.
We just need Chaz Green to be awful and cause Dak to develop permanent shell shock
Other than being undewhelmed with Barnett’s ceiling and irked at the existence of cornball Gerry; I like what they did. I think part of the “Philly tough” stuff was 100% at the request of the DC, who wanted to upgrade the D in that manner.
And Lane saying no to drugs, Warmack getting coached up by Stoutland, and Seumalo banishing Kelce the Dwarf should give our O-line the needed upgrade to close down the distance between last year and our inevitable domination of the entire NFL.
No one in this entire draft has played a down in the NFL…just saying.
I’m not as down as a lot of people seem to be. I like our top 3 picks, and those are the guys most likely to be contributors anyhow. Once you get into the 5th you’re in crap shoot territory.
175lb RB is a regular He-Man
can you bench 128.5% of your weight, 8xs?
Touche
This draft is full of players I recognize/like. Don’t know if that’s a good thing but it seems like they didn’t outsmart themselves https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/84d282550f2d50ddc35648f7e47a89481eef105dbdda10be9941f1c1f6da84dc.png
I liked when Jerry Jones ran their draft and made ill-advised trades in the 1st round.
Sadly have been run much more efficiently and done a much better in the draft the last few years as Jones as taken a bit more hands off approach.
Chido is solid.
Taco is a lazy blowbag. Lewis will be suspended for domestic violence. Switzer was a reach by two rounds.
Can’t lie; Woods is good value.
From what I’ve read, if he gets convicted it will be 3 months in prison plus an indefinite suspension from the NFL. Who knows how it all pans out
He’s a Cowboy; he’s totally guilty.
They did annoyingly well (not a Taco fan but the rest is really good)
They picked a bunch of recognizable names, so everyone likes the draft. Are we sure either of those CBs stick on the outside?
Awuzie should, They already have Byron Jones at one. So Awuzie and Jones with Lewis inside is pretty legit.
I guess in 2018 and forward I’d rather have Sidney Jones, but we won’t know until then.
I disagree and the extra contract year matters.
The Ryan Switzer pick is pretty solid. I hope Jordan Lewis doesn’t pan out because he has a ton of talent
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/04/browns_have_turned_carson_went.html#incart_river_index
Interesting perspective on the Wentz trade from the Browns’ perspective. It is crazy how many picks they turned the Wentz trade into.
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/04/the_carson_wentz_trade_tracker.html
They better get Darnold next year or they’re still stuck in poop mode.
It’s the Browns. Not even good drafting can makes those players work. Howie was killing the draft meta game for years, and look at our abysmal picks.
Every pick the measurables or spider charts are flawed/miserable.
Game tape looks better.
In joe we trust?
Were there no players whom the Eagles liked — and were available — who had both good tape and good testing?
Ah, I see from the boards reaction,
that the Eagles selected only the bad players. And I was so specific when I told them to only take the good ones. This is on me boys.
So we still don’t have an every down back. I assume we’ll need to sign a veteran or trade for one…
Shit we don’t even have a lead horse in a RBBC
What’s Smallwood ceiling?
Low end RB2. RB3 more likely. One cut slasher with poor vision.
‘One cut slasher with poor vision’ sounds like the character for a Grade B/C movie villain from a low-budget 70s/80s horror flick.
We tried to think of a scary name but didn’t have the money to workshop it
I watched Pumphrey’s college highlights….he’s not making the team.
Oh please.
On the clock
Fingers crossed trade back
Ok thats much better
And he can play FB . . .
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/elijah-qualls?id=2557981
We’re finally a Super Bowl caliber team!
Beau gonna be really sad now
There’s the cheap DT we needed to get
Well that’s someone I’ve heard of so that’s good
Ok, I like that pick.
holy shit Qualls was still on the board!?
From our favorite write Sheil…
http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/235224/washingtons-elijah-qualls-escaped-drugs-violence-for-chance-at-nfl
Other than Tommy you mean?
So I guess that’s the draft then. We’re still a lead back short.
Wow! What a 5th round just now.
Just catching up on the picks. Like i said previous post i dont think there was any starting RB that stood out and they should just go for a Sproles replacement. Dont force the pick. Im expecting them to keep Matthews or sign a FA maybe Charles.
This is a great fight!!!
???
Klitschko vs Joshua.
None of them seems particularly preoccupied with defending themselves, but hell bent on hurting the other. Thats always a good time.
Thank god for RTL giving the fight for free.
Well here it is fellas https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/acd87a44d63be45296553393a1df0a7f5f7d399349695cda69b7d02b22fe0cfa.png
Man I just don’t like the Pumphrey pick.
I can fix that, let me help you out: Close your eyes and imagine that Bill Belichik just picked him up in the third. Now how do you feel about him?
Um…nope, still dislike it.
Okay, uhm. Let me try again: Close your eyes and imagine that we are drafting Chubb next year, and that Pumphery will spell him for about 10-12 carries and 5 targets every game. How about now?
http://www.patspulpit.com/2017/3/24/15054198/patriots-scouting-byu-linebacker-bill-belichick-allegedly-wanted-in-the-first-round-harvey-langi
Yea no even Belichick gets things wrong.
I generally like it. I don’t see a high ceiling for Barnett and HATE cornball Gerry. But I can dig the other stuff and see how/why it fits.
Qualls rough life as a child.
http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/235224/washingtons-elijah-qualls-escaped-drugs-violence-for-chance-at-nfl
Matt Dayes has to have some kind of undisclosed physical issue
He can disclose it at his presser when he signs here as a UDFA
I like the Gibson and Qualls pick.
The Mack Hollins and Pumphrey picks are a real head scratcher
Nate Gerry who?
Wasn’t Mack Hollins a character on ‘Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia?’
I had no prob with Pumphrey pick. When day 2 ended i was thinking there wasnt any player i thought Eagles would see as starters n just find a replacement for Sproles. Those players that fit that Sproles profile were Cohen n Pumphrey. We can stick with Matthews or sign Charles for the year. Good they didnt force the pick.
I’ll be watching a lot of Saquon Barley, Derrius Guice, Nick Chubb, and Royce Freeman this year. I want that top RB to complete this offense. Before anyone rushes to tell me we don’t need a top RB, I don’t care. I want one.
Yip next year we can look to use a early round pick on a RB or for Johnson replacement coz i think this is Peters last year as an Eagle.
Desmond King
Damontee Kazee
Corn Elder
Jayon Brown
Isaac Asiata
I can list more players but I think you get the point.
Except we probably don’t need a Sproles replacement when we already have Byron Marshall.
Marshall is playing WR now. That 3rd down role.
OL wasnt gonna be using a pick on after they went the FA route. Was said to be a weak class so its good a pick wasnt forced.
CB, WR, OL are stacked with bodies now. Let the competition begin.
He’s only listed as a WR.
OL FAs are on one year deals.
Stacked with warm bodies.
Moved to or listed to WR makes him a WR for now lol
Warm bodies are bodies. Go OL how many reps do think will be shared.
Someone will stand out this year and get extended. You dont you dont come back or traded. Eagles are in a good position.
RB still a weak spot but hey we werent that bad a team running the ball its good they didnt force the pick and Eagles can now go for a stud RB next year.
We weren’t bad as far as YPC and total yardage, but it could have been a lot better. Not to mention the un-timely fumbles by our RBs that cost us 2 games.
Pederson referred to him as merely “cross training” at WR now in the final press conference last night. They could be keeping him versatile and considering him still a hybrid, but giving him WR reps primarily now because they did the opposite last year.
Good DE competitipn too in training camp
Comes down to 1 out of Smith II, Means, and McSkinny making the roster as DE5 and being inactive every week.
I get what you mean but the Eagles even traded up for Pumphrey. They must see something there.

Yup.
I’m not wrong. The team is wrong. My mock was a superior outcome.
What a fight. Haven’t seen a heavyweight title fight like that in a decade. So rare to see a such a seesaw fight with both fighters alternating on the canvas.
Yeah, and the Eagles got the Qualls pick in before that fight really got rolling.
Nate Gerry is the second coming of Kurt Coleman
Hes here to play LB.
Second coming of Bryan Smith? 🙂
Keenan Clayton
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? panthers Coleman Wasnt bad, Eagles coleman, not so much….
..
I wanted a DE, DT, LB and multiple corners and they delivered while continuing to add weapons creating what should be a blood bath training camp competition amongst all the young WRs. The talent/depth on the Practice field at the WR positions should be a glaring upgrade to what we hsd at WR in last years training camp. Going to be interesting to see which young WRs respond to the competition, and which crumble memtally like we saw from Agholar last year
..
Should be a good competiton at DE too with Guys like Vinny, MS2, McCalister put on notive with the arrival of Long/Barnett
VERY bad
Coleman was a 7th round pick. If you get anything at all out of a 7th rounder, it’s a good pick.
We got negative out of Coleman. Embarrassed by one of the biggest draft busts in the history of the NFL.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KqnrI6OPlM
Casey Matthews? Too soon?
Racist.
Unapologetic Kurt Coleman fan club member, right here. The little safety that could, outlasting far better players. For his pedigree, we nailed that pick, and as you can see in Carolina, when his teammates are somewhat functional, he’s just fine.
I think Carson Wentz thinks we are crazy
I know you haven’t done UDFAs yet but thanks for the hard work Tommy.
Browns just took D3’s boy Dayes.
Chad Kelly given the honor of Mr. Irrelevant; that’s a joke. Kelly should be in jail. If he’d ever have pulled that “I’m going to come back he and shoot up the place” routine after he’d been thrown out of any bar I worked; he would have wound up hospitalized and arrested.
Best draft ever.

UDFAs Eagles have been reported to sign so far:
DE Bryan Cox, Miami(FL)
C Tyler Orlosky, West Virginia
Thank you for staying on top of this. Hopefully those RBs come in soon.
Gone to the WV well a 3rd time
Whichever scout is assigned WV seems to have juice within organization.
Eagles signed Corey Clement per Howard Eskin
Jerry Jones said at his PC that they were debating whether to take Donnell Pumphery or Ryan Switzer when the Eagles jumped them.
LOL we took the DE they wanted too.
I wasn’t paying attention to Day 3 today, but I am beside myself upset that we didn’t get Corn Elder. Terrible, awful draft.
We got a Cornhusker instead
poor substitute
A major failing. There was audible wailing when he was stolen from us.
That was me.
Eagles are going to have to cut some guys if they are looking for their usual UDFA class size
I’ve got few names I’d like to submit for the cut list.
I think a lot of fans are ok with some Cuts
You spelled “trade” wrong.
Trade Kelce
Trade Matthews
Trade Barbre
Trade Kendricks
Keep Barbre. He’s our third best tackle at the moment, and we can drop him next year. I don’t get why everyone is so high on HPV.
He’s not a better tackle than Big V
We need depth too. It’s possible that some of the guys on the back end improve enough, but I do like Barbre as a backup.
MSII has a roster bonus sometime in July. If they feel they have enough good backup DEs, he could be cut too. But they will at least get minicamps and maybe some of training camp before having to make that decision (unless they want his cap space for the rookies).
If you want to argue keeping Barbre as backup depth; I’ll buy it. But he simply CANNOT start as he’s preventing you from playing Warmack at LG.
And Seumalo is a MUST a center; we need 3 cheap years of his play at a high level prior to having to deal with a new contract.
Er… if it is anything like the Warmack which played last year, please keep Barbre.
http://www.phillyvoice.com/film-breakdown-eagles-have-work-do-newly-acquired-og-chance-warmack/
If Stoudtland can get Warmack to start to fulfill his original potential, then sure. But you can’t count on it. If Warmack doesn’t drastically improve he probably won’t even make the team.
I’m mostly with you on Seumalo, but if Warmack doesn’t improve we may need Seumalo at LG this year. But yes, I still want Barbre as backup only — if he his your scheduled starter, that would indicate that part of the offseason plan failed.
For how much money they paid Warmack; we’re all counting on it. He didn’t sign for some BS league minimum deal.
Huh? They are paying him $1.3M this year. That’s solid money for a backup, but certainly doesn’t guarantee a starting spot.
I thought it was $4 or $5 mil. My bad.
Pretty close to it. 1 year, 1.5 million, and only 500K guaranteed (which was the signing bonus). there may be a roster bonus, but cutting him would save more than 750K against the cap.
Yeah, Jernst already addressed it.
Whoops, sorry, didn’t see that in the “notifications” view.
And if Warmack fails; I want Wis at LG, then Barbre. Kelce needs to go no matter what because Sem’s long term future is at C. And I’m done with Kelce.
Have we settled on HPV as a nickname? That’s unfortunate…
Settled? Big V is settling. HPV is ascendant.
Eagles are signing RB Corey Clements form Wisconsin as an UDFA per Eskin
Excellent
He’s originally from Glassboro I think
He doesn’t like football Mike
Maybe he just doesn’t like having to rep a state run by turd Scott Walker; he’s in a more football loving place now.
I feel like the drafts we’re upset about at first tend to work out the best. So in reverse psychology logic, I’m fucking psyched. Patriots never draft guys I’ve heard of either, right? ….Right?
It’s all I’ve got.
I remember being very excited about the Dream Team, and that didn’t work out. I also thought Chip Kelly had a great chance of being a great coach for us… not so much.
Therefore, this could turn out to be an awesome draft.
Henry Josey is still on the street, right Media Mike? We can sign him to save us. I wonder if Mostert is willing to come back from the CFL.
Mostert is on a roster.
Somehow I feel like you knew that without looking it up?
Only because somebody tweeted out one team’s RB depth chart earlier today and he was on it. But only his name caught my eye, so I can’t tell you what team.
Eagles have signed TE Billy Brown and DB Tre Sullivan of Shepherd University
Watching some video of Hollins, I like what I see, but he waves his hands around like he’s conducting the band in the stands every time the ball comes his way. I remember at least one of our failed WR coaches preaching having “late hands” to not tip off the CB the ball is coming your way.
But if the ball wasn’t coming your way you could possibly draw a flag
Giants cleaning up on some of the “big name” UDFA
I’d say the same of the Eagles. Orlosky, Clements, and Cox are top-tier UDFA signings.
Yeah, I wasn’t complaining. Only one the Giants got that I was hoping the Eagles would target is Jadar Johnson
We got more clocks?
https://twitter.com/wingoz/status/858454032708403201
Future draft cities? Umm you just witnessed perfection, Tre … why even consider other cities?
1) Not sure you will get the same turnout if it’s in Philly every year. The novelty may have had something to do with it.
2) Not sure the city will want to shut down that much area of the city for over a month each year.
https://twitter.com/MikeSielski/status/858466038454857729
Howie said that Mathews was cleared to work out soon. Said he was still part of team. I don’t know if that means Eagles are keeping Mathews or that they’re just waiting until he gets healthy enough to cut without cutting him a check for the injury benefit clause in the CBA. That injury benefit doesn’t count against the cap but I’m sure they don’t want to pay him if they don’t have to. They’ll need the room to sign the rookies but that doesn’t have to be done immediately.
Get

I was doing a nice job avoid ESPN’s draft coverage in favor of the NFL network all weekend, but sadly extended stupidity from Heath Evans and Sean O’Hara ended the streak.
Bryan Cox just tweeted that he isn’t signing with PHI, that’s he’s signing with CAR.
There’s always false reports this early as guys change their mind or a team makes an offer but rescinds it after they sign someone else.
But per Iowa State’s official account, Eagles have signed CB Jomal Wiltz.
Immoral piece of crap just like his hoodlum POS father. HOW DARE HE!
Whoever was talking about Browns killing the draft this year, case in point on why the Hinkie strategy is only half the battle. Browns gonna Browns:
http://deadspin.com/browns-draft-caleb-brantley-unsure-if-they-will-keep-h-1794774248
That’ll free him up for a short ride down to Cincy.
What does drafting someone and changing your mind the same day have to do with Sam Hinkie strategy and the Sixers?
There’s been talking about how they’re hoarding/accumulating picks and how that’s going to lead to a turn around for the franchise. Similar to how the Sixers did it. But none of that matters if you can’t draft for shit. Examples: Both of their 1st rounders busting the Manziel year.
What Sixer’s turnaround? From the worst team in the league to the 2nd worst?
Yeah, well. Should have kept Hinkie.
Simmons, TLC, and Korkmaz were all excellent picks and I don’t like BC but I gotta say Hinkie woulda been fine with tose picks I think.
It doesn’t happen overnight in the NBA and Sixers definitely were set back with Embiid and Simmons injuries . They also made strides this year and Brett Brown has them bringing it almost every night.
It makes more sense to talk about a turnaround once it really happens rather then when you hope it’s going to happen!
Hordes of we Sixers fans talk about it. Lots of things people have fun with don’t make sense Debbie Downer.
Hordes of we Sixers fans talk about it. Lots of things people have fun with don’t make sense Debbie Downer.
https://youtu.be/IJ_R-G_i4Xk
Fair enough except we all know there aren’t hordes of Sixers fans. I’ll let myself out now…
Talk to us next year
I get the philosophical similarity but I don’t see how drafting Caleb Brantley relates to Sixers drafting Embiid, Ben Simmons and Dario Saric and maybe TLC. Tons of GMs get picks wrong.
The meta game of “winning” the draft through value management of picks is the similarity. But like the Sixers, you still eventually have to pick players, and they picked this guy and Sixers picked a bunch of dudes who literally cannot play at the same time. New Browns, same as the old Browns.
The best player (besides Jokic who the Sixers could have gotten in the 2nd anyway) taken after Embiid was Dario Saric. 98% of Sixers fans wouldn’t trade Embiid right now for what you could get for him.
I don’t think most Sixers fans would trade Ben Simmons for the 1st pick in this draft and most of us love Markelle Fultz.
The Okafor f-up is what annoys me the most. Hinkie should have traded down and gotten Hezojna and Colangelo should have gotten #3 overall from the Celts for Okafor because they wasted it on trash Jaylon Brown anyway.
I look forward to setting my 53 man roster as soon as the dust settles on all of the UFAs and then viciously impugning the character of anybody associated with the team who cuts my all stars in favor of their inferior “talent.”
Welcome to Howie’s world
Hopefully Howie is FAR away from that decision. I LOVE Howie, but that should 95% be Doug’s decision.
Actually…sounds like Chip..
Doug would keep Kendricks and Kelce. Howie will give him the kids.
Howie needs to get rid of them prior to cut down day via trade so Doug can’t keep them.
Way off topic, but what the hell did the Flyers just pull off in the NHL draft lottery?
They lucked into #2. Good for them.
It doesn’t make up for the NHL screwing them out of Patrick Kane and leaving them stuck with trash JVR.
I feel so unbelievably bad for Colorado.
Did we win the draft?
Yes; the draft should never be staged anywhere but Philly.
How Dallas always manage to get great UDFAs? Tony Romo, Miles Austin, Dan Bailey, David Irving, Anthony Brown…
I don’t even remember the last good Eagles UDFA since Mikkell.
Anthony Brown was a 6th round pick
Technically Peters, but we didn’t sign him.
Tony Romo hurt them. Jerry Jones gold.
Reno Mahe
irving was a Cheifs pick or UDFA that they snagged of the practice squad

Oliver went to Indiana
Wiltz is a Cornerback
I know the chances that Pederson would see someone like Perine as a fit were slim to none. But watching him go to the Skins was hard to stomach. I have a feeling we’re going to hate having to tackle him over the next 4 years.
I agree completely. Especially because I look him more than any other RB in my mocks.
Just hope he doesn’t last long with his style.
Ehhhh Duce played for Andy
He did and he reminds me a lot of Perine. But, he was also drafted by Ray Rhodes and Andy spent the next 15 years drafting dual threat pass catchers instead of 230 pound bruisers.
Perines actually a pretty good reciever.
Obviously though Doug doesn’t believe in anyone over 205lbs.
Maybe our wideouts can run the ball in short yardage.
I’m not a fan of the Pumphries pick, and makes me suspicious that the pendulum swung too far in the other direction after Chip/Ed left. Digging up some thoughts on prospects’ H/W/S from former Eagles VP of Player Personal:
“Big picture wise, you want to play with the odds, not against the odds. And the odds are telling you that the majority of these guys that are under this certain prototype do not play at a starting level in the NFL. If you have seven draft picks, do you really want to waste one, especially in the top three rounds, on a guy that history is telling you… typically these guys with these types of measurables don’t produce at this level?”
“We don’t have to be right about every player. Missing on a prospect who ends up overcoming the odds is frustrating, but it happens. I’m more concerned about not being wrong, and that means thinning the pool of possible selections.”
From who is that quote?
Likely Marynowitz and he was Chip’s designated mouthpiece.
So, basically, an idiot.
Ew; that dude was a piece of shit.
Yup, Ed Marynowitz
That’s shameful. Amazing he was able to remove Chip’s member from his mouth long enough to speak on record.
First thoughts on Mack Hollins after 3 Draftbreakdown clips: -Great name: Mack Hollins. -You have to love the size. He looks huge compared to some of the db he lines up against. – I love the way he explodes of the line on the stem of his route. There is not mamby pamby bullshit. Just straight up and go. – He does have some trouble dropping his hips into his cuts but at 6’4″ he’s going to. – Even with the less than stellar cuts, dbs have to play back on him because he is such a good deep threat, hence he gets open underneath fairly easily. – Willing blocker and a playmaker in that area. – natural hands catcher, doesn’t fight the ball. – Add in the special team talent and you have one helluva 4th pick. – Gets separation easily and you don’t really get to see if he uses his size to his advantage to wall of defenders at the point of the catch. – Stacks dbs on deep routes to prevent them from getting PD’s. – In summation, I’m actually a little shocked he didn’t go in the 3rd round but I guess that’s a testament to how stacked this draft was. In the future, I could even see him as a deep threat, RZ threat or even taking JM’s spot in the slot. He won’t be a “true #1” due to lack of speed but I can confidently say he has excellent value in the 4th.
I’m hopeful another team takes Jordan Matthews for a draft pick before we lose him for nothing as a UFA.
And thank you for the scouting feedback on Hollins.
In the famous words of Maui, ” You’re welcome.”
闲着没事,随便逛逛,心静自然凉。
Tyler Orlosky will make this team
because Kelce won’t be on it and we’ll need that center.
i had him as a guy who could push for a starting job year 1.
And yes I’m in the camp of I’ll believe Kelce is on the roster Week 1 when I see it.
There needs to be a tent fire in the camp sight of the other camp.
Waiting until someone suffers an injury – either on Eagles so they need Kelce or another team that’s willing to trade for him.
Agreed. Break out the Mitch Morse voodoo dolls
Does KC have any draft picks left to give us after they wasted all of them on that dolt of a “QB?”
I’ll take a 7
I thought he could have gone round 3. He must have some injury concerns we don’t know about
I had him more as a 5th round guy.
Centers never get drafted.
I had him as a 4th, but in a weak OL class I thought he could have been grabbed earlier
#tylerbias
Just wait until next year.
Pitts FB is George Aston and a third-cousin (that I’ve never met)
We can just go ahead and mock him 1-32 now.
Heath Evans will be pleased as well. F*&^ Heath Evans.
And I thought my family had the whitest names.
I’ve got less melatonin than casper the friendly ghost
Melanin damn it, you sound like an uneducated monkey!
it’s late, calm down iowa dr
Wait, How did you know that? lol
deleted fb last fall, found an old friend request i’d never seen from like 2013
O I got you lol. Thanks for creeping on me. 😉
I bet you have a lot of trouble sleeping.
He sounds like a rich dude.
I hear George is the reason Doug has delayed filling his FB spot.
Alright, now that post draft sensation sets in of being a kid who’s opened his Christmas presents but can’t play with them for 5 months. It’s so tortuous to have to wait to see if any of these kids can play.
I’ll be happy if all of them except Jones actually decide to play and don’t Sixer us.
#trusttheprocess
#fearthesurgeon
#Eatasandwhich
Was that directed at Pump?
And Jones.
Pretty sure I saw them both on an infomercial last night saying that for just $3.00 a month i could feed them
They can get the extra food that falls from the jowls of Qualls.
Even harder is getting a shiny new corner back and not being sure if you’ll be able to play with him at all.
Jones Island, coming to a Linc near you in 2018.
That would make for a very merry holiday every Sunday.
I was prepping for that in 2017 with pick 14 prior to the injury.
Nov 19, vs. Dallas, Shutdown Stanley brings coal for Jerry’s stocking.
Trying not to sound like a homer but I’m getting into the Pumphrey pick as well. – For starters, with a name like Pumphrey, you know its gonna be good. – There are several things that stand out when you first watch DP. The first is his size. I’m gonna be honest, he’s tiny but it isn’t as bad as you might think. I watched 4 games and could count on one hand how many times he fell backwards. – The next thing is his vision. He has a knack for when to follow the play and when to abandon it and go with a cutback instead. – He’s has excellent cut skill and frequently will make defenders miss in the backfield and the open field. – Features a spin move which got him extra yards on many occasions. – Can catch out of the backfield with soft hands. – I thought he would be complete trash as a pass blocker but it isn’t true. He’s tenacious and uses he small stature to maximize the effectiveness of his cut blocks. – Really not a goal line runner which should be fairly obvious with his size. – wouldn’t trust him handling pass blocking on a regular basis. – In summation, I feel like he is a bit of a Sproles/Shady hybrid. Not better than either one but a strange blend of the two. He can make defenders but also runs hard up the gut. He doesn’t have the KR/PR but I think he adds an EXCELLENT weapon to the offense. – Think about last year when we had 1.5 offensive weapons in Sproles, Mathews and Matthews. After the draft and FA the Eagles have Smith, Pumphrey, A.J., Gipson and Hollins AND Sproles…. – Get DP in space and he will do work, put him in a split back set and he will get you yards. Its gonna be fun to hopefully see Sproles and DP together on the field. – EDIT: As D3 will probably comment, he needs to put on a little weight at least, maybe 185? Give him some cheeseburgers and some bench press.
With respect, I dissent: Donnel Pumphrey sounds like the name of the prolific small school guy we draft every year. The one who plays great in the pre-season and then is cut and never heard of again.
“…and never heard from again.”
Not if Media Mike has access to a keyboard.
With the malevolent tyranny of Barner ended, I won’t need to hammer those nails any more.
You seem to have no shortage of nails this weekend. It’s the old adage about “when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail”, but writ larger, with much more venom.
Explain to me what he does that Marshall doesn’t. Or Anthony Wales doesn’t. And they are bigger.
Even if he carves out a role it’s not worth a 4.
I can’t explain it to you because I’m not sure. I was just observing what I saw from Draftbreakdown. I completely understand why people would be upset with the pick. He’s freaking tiny man. I’m gonna give him a shot though.
He obviously knows some tricks about playing at his size — if he dominated Mountain West, he’d probably be at least productive in better conferences. He ran a ton so he must have at least some instincts about how to stay healthy at that size.
The big question is if those instinctive tricks he knows will translate to the NFL. He’s small enough that most arm tackles probably bring him down, and it sounds like he does not have home run speed. If for whatever reason he can stay elusive against NFL defenders, he could be a fun toy to have. If he can’t, he is probably useless. The answer to that may come more quickly for him over other draftees — if he can’t cut it in preseason, it may be obvious quickly, and may not be worth it to keep at all.
Not sure if a gamble like that is worth a 4. But obviously I’m rooting for him.
I thought his acceleration was extremely impressive.
All that is nice until the very first time someone who’s 275 pounds and runs a 4.6 hits him full speed and he evaporates into mist.
Interesting you say that because I was thinking about physics and as you know for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Because Pomphrey is so small only a certain amount of force can be dissipated into his body. For example if you punch a piece of paper in mid air, the max force you can transfer to the paper is less than say you punch a wall. There is more counter force in the wall than in the paper floating in air. How this relates at all: Because Pomphrey is so small the amount of force transferred to him by a 275 lb person is actually less than the amount the same 275 lb person gives to someone of similar size. Because he is small I do wonder if those principles actually help him avoid injury. As far as I know he was extremely durable in college and was surely getting hit by guys with similar numbers to what you listed.
F=MA
There’s something to that. It’s part of the reason toddlers can throw themselves around and take tumbles that would break a grown mans pelvis and bounce right up. They have so little mass. I don’t have any numbers but I feel like a lot of injuries in the nfl are the “hit the ground very hard” variety.
Interesting
Biggest draft disappointment was not getting Kareem ” The Wet Dream” Hunt.
I feel that way about missing out in Dalvin cook
Me, too. I think he has all the ingredients to be a very successful rb.
I think in a few years you will be glad we have Sidney Jones rather than Cook.
Isaac Asiata, Matt Dayes, Corn Elder, Wayne Gallman and Elijah Lee would like a word
I was looking at Lee when the Eagles took Sean Considine Jr.
“But he can get bigger!”
Sure show me where steroid boy is adding mass people.
Best case he’s Keenan Clayton
Keenan Clayton had actual talent; this guy is trash.
Have you seen him play?
Minimally because he wasn’t standing out in any Nebraska I watched in passing. These out of nowhere type dudes who aren’t rated highly enough to merit attention going into the draft (Countess!!!!!) are better left to the UDFA signings when I can look at them then.
Yeh, I was looking for something to watch on him that’s why I was genuinely curious.
The fact that nobody has is VERY telling.
Highlights

Game cut
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suBEO21EBD4
Holy crap, I’ve watch RBs carry him 3 or 4 yards past the point of first contact in a few of the “highlights” in the first clip.
I’m gonna give him three things. – Competitive/shit talker. – Can lay some LUMBAH -Nose for the ball.
Looks like he’ll be a dollar short and a day late in the NFL in that department however.
His highlights included getting a taunting penalty, and a penalty on a helmet-to-helmet hit. And showed another pretty gross helmet-to-helmet hit on a defenseless receiver (unsure if he got a penalty). Lots of interceptions though — 13 over three years.
Knee jerk reaction draft grades? I’m gonna go ahead and give it a B+ only because I’m not sure about Pumphrey and the guy from Nebraska. However I truly believe Jones will make a FULL recovery. To get the guy I wanted as a first in the second round is crazy!
jack off Tennessee stole the guy I wanted for 14 at 5.
I’m sorry Mike, I was pretty excited about CD too.
“12 to 18”
F U draft Twitter.
I like Barnett and Jones. I don’t mind the Douglas pick, but I find it hard to believe he was the one corner they really wanted with the run of them in the couple picks before. I feel better having watched some tape. Everything else, meh. They’re note expected to be starters, so whatever. I like Hollins. I don’t really have an opinion on the rest.
B?
I’ll consider it a good year if Barnett is serviceable, Jones actually plays this year, and Douglas plays at least as well as Mills last year. If 1 of the rest pans out, call it a B+
Also remember that we can sort of kind of include Jernigan.
You can only include Jernigan if he signs a new deal here.
Timmy Jernigan; Eagles swapped third round picks with the Ravens.
Why has this not been taken into account when talking about this draft?
Because he’s a rental for which you’ve paid the point equivalent of pick 96. IF Jernigan has a strong year and signs a new deal here THEN he can be counted as something of value.
Or if we get a comp pick.
valid point
however even if he only plays 1 season w/eagles,and plays well enough to help make the D-line a menacing force and helps give the offense(Wentz) much more time on the field, then i`d him consider a great addition to the team and a part of this year`s draft.
Cause no draft,no Jernigan.
Howie mentioned it in his press conference.
I’m giving them a solid B-. I had them at a B before day 3.
Which picks didn’t you care for?
Both round 4 picks.
I can see Pumphrey but I’m digging Hollins. They were probably targeting Reynolds but he got taken the pick before…
Careful, the last time we said that, it was Winston Justice and Broderick Bunkley.
I’m an optimist by nature.

Not sure I saw even one broken tackle in there 🙂 Can make some pretty sick cuts though.
There’s at least a couple in the first minute of play.
OK, he spun through one arm tackle. The others seemed to be where just a hand or fingers were on him. Certainly seems like he made it hard to get that arm on him in the first place — I guess the question is can he continue that in the NFL.
That’s because guys arent getting a hand on him ;p
Do you think Sidney Jones goes on IR? Or maybe he could make it back in time for the playoffs/Super Bowl?
I’m sure he’d go on the PUP list first — that would give you 6-11 weeks I think to decide to put him on the roster. Or maybe technically that is the NFI list, but same rules I think.
Comes down to whether the Eagles want to give up a year on the rookie contract just to give him marginal field time on limited practice down the stretch.
It might depend on technicalities of the rules, but if they don’t promote him to the 53-man roster until the last five games — which I think they should be able to do — this may not count as an accrued year.

Look, it looked awesome, and nobody has anything bad to say about the event. But the draft shouldn’t be the shitshow that it is. Stop hyping it, announce the picks on time, and stop commercializing things. There’s no reason it couldn’t be done like round 4-7 except that they don’t want it to. And a party like the one in Philly tells them they’re doing it exactly right.
Jesus, even Howie was savaging Jim Cramer:
“Well, I thought it was going to be coming back, until I saw some of Jim Cramer’s speech today. It was going in a great direction until today, and then it went a little downhill.”

I missed Cramers speech anyone got video?
Never mind I found it… http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-draft/0ap3000000804641/Eagles-select-Mack-Hollins-No-118-overall-in-the-2017-NFL-Draft
Cramer is such a weirdo
Just saw it. Didn’t see what was wrong
The Bears have declined Kyle Fuller’s 5th year option. Just saying…
It’s happening!
I’m not sure about that. But what I’m really positive about is that he could be available for cheap now.
Maybe Kendricks for Fuller straight up?!
Let’s do it, Howie!!!
However I have just looked at all of the Bears draft picks and they didn’t end up with one CB at all. Mmmmh…
Yeah, but he was inactive at the end of the season, behind the CBs already on their roster.
Chicago doesn’t have any reason to cut / move him before at least minicamps, to see if he improves on whatever it was they didn’t like. Question is, can we offer them anything they would prefer? Fuller is a sunk cost, and they only get 1.7 million back from their cap by trading him. Kendricks is scheduled to make 5 million in salary/bonuses, so that would take a fair bit of additional cap room for them. Unsure how much they need a LB, but we can hope.
If they were looking to trade him, wouldn’t he be worth more with a 5th year under contract?
Fifth year options are pretty pricey
