Game Preview – WAS at PHI
Posted: September 8th, 2019 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | Comments Off on Game Preview – WAS at PHIAre you ready for the 2019 season? Enough about Jadeveon Clowney, Antonio Brown and every other big name player on the market. We finally have an actual game to talk about. Lots of story lines in this one.
The return of Carson Wentz.
The Eagles open with a division rival.
From DeSean Jackson to Daeshon Hall, there will be new faces to watch (Daeshon was here last year, but barely played).
I wrote my preview for PE.com.
This is a game the Eagles should win. This is a game they need to win. If recent years hold true, the Eagles should prevail. Doug Pederson is 3-0 in season openers. The Eagles have won four straight games against Washington. That doesn’t guarantee you anything of course, but those are good trends.

We did have one bit of football business.
The Eagles agreed to a restructured contract with WR Alshon Jeffery that guarantees his 2020 salary while also providing some salary cap relief for the team.

There were some rumors about the Eagles moving on from Jeffery. I’m guessing this deal is a way of making sure AJ knows he’s not going anywhere, while also giving the team a bit of cap help.
Jeffery brings a swagger to Eagles locker room. Brent Celek shared a story when he retired about sitting with Jeffery in cafeteria a month after Jeffery signed.
“Can you imagine how this city would act if we won the Super Bowl?” Celek asked.
“If?" Jeffery said. "You mean when?"

Great story.

This won’t make Jim Schwartz sad.
Jordan Reed has now been declared out. And JP Holtz has been promoted. #Redskins short a big-name talent. https://t.co/l0ythTQKye
