DeVonta’s Debut

The Eagles and Pats play in a few minutes in the second preseason game of the summer. There are several interesting story lines tonight, but the lead story for me is the debut of WR DeVonta Smith. He might not play a lot, but it will be great to see him get out there and make his NFL debut.

The focus will be on the WR position. Quez Watkins showed explosive ability last week. Jalen Reagor is coming off a good week of practice. Now we get to see those guys on the field at the same time as Smith. That could be a lot of fun.

Jalen Hurts has to do his part. He’s coming off his best week of practice and sure seems to be heading in the right direction. It would be a great sign for him to play well tonight. He’ll only be in for a couple of series, but that can be enough for us to get a feel for him.

The Eagles have some interesting skill player talent now and it would be great to see them making plays.

The fun story of the night is that Jake Elliott won’t play. Punter Arryn Siposs will do the kicking. He has never attempted a field goal in his life. Get ready for some interesting moments.

The starting DL is out tonight. The coaches want to see more of the backups.

Make sure you check out LB Patrick Johnson, #48. He caught my eye last week. I’m curious to see if he can do that again.

I’m excited to see safety K’Von Wallace in action. He missed the opener.

It would be nice to have a third down conversion. The Eagles didn’t have any in the opener.

It would be nice to score in the second half. That didn’t happen last week.

Most of all, let’s avoid injuries.
