Gameday – DAL at PHI
Posted September 4th, 2025 | No Comments »The 2025 season is here. Kickoff is just over an hour away. This is kind of like opening a gift. We have some clues on what we’re going to get, but we don’t know for sure. The Eagles are 8.5 point favorites so it is easy to expect a win. This is a rivalry game and crazy things can happen to the fellas in green need to be ready to roll.
Let’s start with some roster talk.
We are elevating S Marcus Epps and OLB Patrick Johnson for tonight’s game. pic.twitter.com/cqjTwuyKSF

#Eagles inactives:
EDGE Azeez Ojulari
QB Tanner McKee
EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo
OL Drew Kendall
OT Cameron Williams
OL Kenyon Green
DT Ty Robinson— EJ Smith (@EJSmith94) September 4, 2025
Interesting moves. Patrick Johnson offers depth at edge, but he’s also a STs player. Ojulari and Okoronkwo feel more like pass rushers. Kevontae Turpin is an elite returner so the Eagles may have focused on STs a bit more tonight. Rookies Robinson and Kendall both sit. They weren’t likely to play much so it isn’t a big deal. Matt Pryor and Brett Toth offer depth inside and Fred Johnson is the swing tackle.
Drew Mukuba is active. I’m curious to see how much he plays, or if he starts. Epps gives them depth on D and STs. We don’t know who the PR will be. I thought Covey might be elevated for this game. That will be something to watch.
As for Dallas…

Yikes. That is a bad sign for Mazi Smith, the former first round pick. And Blue was supposed to offer some speed to the backfield.
Strange things can happen on opening day. Back in 2014 the Eagles fell behind Jacksonville 17-0 before scoring 34 unanswered points. In 2020 the Eagles got up 17-0 on Washington before giving up 27 straight points and losing. There was the Pickle Juice Game back in 2000. Greg Lewis muffed a punt vs GB back in 2007 and the Eagles lost by 3 points. Since the Eagles are the better team, let’s hope for an uneventful game. Crazy things tend to benefit the underdog.
Nick Sirianni is undefeated in season openers. The Eagles haven’t lost a season opener at The Linc since 2010, when Aaron Rodgers beat Kevin Kolb/Michael Vick. Dak Prescott has put up big numbers in his games at The Linc, but he has also played backups in a couple of those games. This will be the best Eagles defense he’s gone up against in a game in Philly. That should make for some fun.
If you like betting defensive TDs, history is on your side tonight
The Eagles have scored a defensive TD in 5 straight years against the Cowboys:
2020: McLeod fumble recovery
2021: Cox fumble recovery
2022: Sweat pick six
2023: Carter fumble recovery
2024: Chauncey pick six pic.twitter.com/rTNh842oiy— Drew Balis (@drewBbalis) September 4, 2025
Great trend and great info by Drew. I hadn’t thought of that. Let’s keep that streak going tonight.
This game will be a good test for both coaches. Does Sirianni have his guys focused and ready to roll? Does Brian Schottenheimer have what it takes to lead his team to a win or at least play well against a good team? Will he make smart, aggressive decisions?
Odd prediction for the night…the Eagles blitz more than usual and Jihad Campbell gets his first NFL sack.
And the good guys win.
