Posted December 6th, 2025 | 2 Comments »The Eagles have been an erratic football team all season. They are currently on a two-game losing streak. All of this has Nick Sirianni and his players searching for answers.
Will new messaging make a difference?
Can schematic changes help?
Is there a better way to use personnel?
Everyone is trying to figure out the thing that will get the Eagles to look like the Eagles. Saquon Barkley averages 3.7 yards per carry. The OL is struggling. The defense just gave up 281 rushing yards. The team is fifth in the league in penalties and penalty yards. Jake Elliott has missed kicks in consecutive games. This isn’t Eagles football.
So what is being tried?
Jordan Mailata says the Eagles run game has “got some new stuff in this week”

The Eagles are trying to shake off that ugly Black Friday loss to the Bears. I’m told this week, the team had a series of “no-BS discussions” ahead of a “Monday Night Football” meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers. The message? Stop pointing fingers. “We are all done with the finger-pointing,” one Philly player told me. “It’s not just one thing that’s in our way. It’s not just Jalen (Hurts), it’s not just Saquon (Barkley), it’s not just (OC Kevin) Patullo, it’s not just the offensive line. … It’s a little bit of everyone.”
Landon Dickerson got a day of rest on Friday, sitting out practice in hopes that will help him.
The Eagles put in a waiver claim on Darius Slay, but Buffalo beat them out for his services. Slay isn’t reporting to Buffalo so we’ll see if anything changes on that front.
Jalen Hurts is going back and watching old games to see how things looked when life was good.
Will some of this work? Will any of this work?
We will find out on Monday in Los Angeles. I don’t think there are any magic fixes at this point, but there are small things that can lead to better play and better results. Just avoiding turnovers would have made a big difference in the past two losses.
If Sirianni, his staff and his players can figure out small tweaks that work, that would be even better. The Eagles came into the season with a loaded roster, but nagging injuries have had a major impact. People can talk about Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens as Pro Bowl players, but not the 2025 versions. Those guys have struggled in a big way. Jalen Carter has dealt with shoulder problems most of the year. Nolan Smith hasn’t been 100 percent all year. This is a year when the Eagles can’t just roll out a great team. The little things matter a lot this year.
Maybe all of this is a fool’s errand and this team just is what it is. But the coaches and players have to keep pushing buttons to see if they can find something to give them a boost. Since they played on Friday last week they have had a bit of extra time. We’ll see on Monday night if that time did the Eagles any good.
Is there any way this can fail?

*****
The Eagles job just got harder.
Sources: The #Chargers are activating rookie RB Omarion Hampton and he will play Monday night vs the Eagles.
Hampton has been sidelined since suffering an ankle fracture Week 5, but was off to a stellar start with 450 total yards and 3 TDs on 4.8 YPC. Big news for the Bolts. pic.twitter.com/SsmSu8gXIT

Hampton averaged 4.8 yards per carry before getting hurt. He’s got size and speed. The Chargers have a banged up OL and QB Justin Herbert isn’t 100 percent so they will want to run. Hampton gives them a big weapon in the backfield.
