Eagles Get Maclin, Jr (aka Nelson Agholor)
Posted: April 30th, 2015 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 380 Comments »The Eagles couldn’t re-sign WR Jeremy Maclin so they did the next best thing…they drafted a prospect who looked just like him, USC’s Nelson Agholor.
He is 6-0, 198. Runs 4.42 in the 40. Check out the highlights.
Agholor is a good fit for the Eagles offense. He has the speed to be a deep threat, but also has terrific RAC skills. The WR corps had some talent, but needed someone with top speed and RAC skills. Agholor comes from a pro style offense so he will be more advanced than some other WRs and that could help him to challenge for starting time right away.
Good pick.
If you are going to have Sam Bradford as your QB, you need to give him weapons.
_
Think this kid will be nasty
http://mockdraftable.com/player/4778/
Look at his comp
Steelers’ pick is in. Not revealed yet. Broncos traded up to Lions pick.
Tommy, can you weigh in on Agholor over Dupree?
Dupree is not a need if you are happy with MSII still. If you have them at the same grade you take the player you need i guess.
I mean, how high could you possibly be on MSII right now? I seriously doubt the coaches are like… yeah ink MSII in as our future OLB.
Dupree, Randy Gregory, or even Shane Ray. Byron Jones.
This pick is kinda blah. I can’t hate it, but I really wanted one of the above instead.
Alvin Dupree to Steelers. Steal for them.
Is it really a steal if 21 other teams do not want him? More likely fans are just overrating him (honestly, most mocks only had him top 15 after his combine).
Maybe
WR is one of the toughest positions to accurately predict, but for some odd reason, I truly feel like Agholar is a ‘safe’ pick. And I mean safe in a good way. I think we’ll see immediate production – equal if not better than Jordan Matthews’ rookie season.
beware the ghost of fredex
The thing is with Agholor is that he’s just ok in some areas and only just good in others. Sure he’ll probably have better immediate impact but I don’t see him as a game dominating player (sounds just like Maclin).
And Macklin put up big numbers last year coming off and ACL injury. I’ll take it.
This is a legit top 20 talent. Solid pick, tho I prefer a trade back, but can’t bash the pic. It was appropriate value
He’s was only a junior and by no means is a complete finished prospect, think his best football is ahead of him
Looks just like him. Are you saying…oh forget it, let’s work on that Redskins thing first. In advance, j/k j/k j/k j/k
This is a good pick.
Agholor was such an obvious fit in our offense. Should be able to step in and contribute Day 1 just like Matthews.
Also, #Culture.
Is he better than Breshard Perriman?
I think he’s a better scheme fit.
“Scheme fit” can we really say that? Kelly’s mantra has been big players defeat smaller players, but he passes on a 6’3″/4.24 40 WR
You’re talking H/W/S.
Agholor runs the full route tree, works inside / outside, and is probably a better culture fit.
You can have a guy like Perriman in Coates or Conley in the 2nd/3rd.
I say yes, but some will say no
Did you even know who he was before his 40 time? If he doesn’t get picked in rd one would u feel better about the Aguilar pick?
Well he’s in b more so we can keep a eye on him to compare the two with those CBS regional coverage on Sunday
Umm yes I did know of him. Actually I watched his dad play for the Detroit Lions. I’ll feel good about Agholor when he’s making plays on Sundays.
Perriman has the measurables of a god but he drops a lot of balls and runs lazy routes.
Nelson “nightcrawler” Agholor
The Pope
Josh will huff puff and blow little piggy skins house down
Ertz abuses cowboy safety Landon Collins
..
Nice young arsenal of weapons for bradford and Bryce petty to shred defenses
Height sounds more like Jackson
He is almost 3 inches taller than Jackson
Wow, didn’t realize Jackson was that small. I mean cause 6 foot isn’t all that tall.
Jackson is like 5’9½ (Boykin is same height btw). Agholor is also almost 30 pounds heavier
Yep, looked it up, it says 5’10 which means he’s smaller as usual.

#Lions traded No. 23 pick to #Broncos for Manny Ramirez, pick No. 28, pick No. 143 (fifth round) and 2016 fifth-round pick.
and Broncos picked Shane Ray
Broncos moved up for Shane Ray. Risky.
We still probably could nab another WR in this draft. I’m still ready to put my Coates on Chipper.
Your description brings Beckham to mind. Agholor is not as freakishly athletic, but the hands, the RAC, the quick twitch are similar.
Dead obvious to me now why Seattle traded away their pick.
What I’m thinking about is the advantages of Agholor over Devin Smith or Dorsett…
Very curious now what Carolina will do–They could gamble and get Beckham-Green or get OL, maybe…
DBG must have more skeletons than Marcus Peters in his closet.
We have receivers running open all day. They don’t really need to break a cb like Smith can do with positions mg and Dorsett with speed. We just need a qb to throw.
Agholor is a much more well-rounded player than either of those guys. Runs great routes, is shifty. Really like him here.
Shane Ray can smoke all the weed he wants in Denver lol
“no, no he can’t”
-josh gordon
Joke dude. Not that deep
As far as the cops are concerned. His arrest will put him into league’s testing program where he could be punished for a positive test.
This draft is gonna end up like the 2013 draft. A lot of smart, solid picks with good value.
He’s from the same continent as our President, interesting.
We’re all from the same continent as the POTUS?!?
Is it, though?
Hawaii isn’t a continent.
Mariotta isn’t from nigeria
Good start now let’s get defensive in rounds 2and 3
Need OL
Yeah I was thinking, they’ve done a great job with defense in offseason. Just by keeping Cox is a great move in itself.
Back end help with a corner safety type of player, but yes OL needs addressing as well
I don’t have a significant issue with the pick itself, but I definitely question the offseason strategy. No question Maclin got over payed, but what we effectively did as a result was we “paid” a 1st round pick instead of a couple mil extra in salary. Had we went ahead and paid Maclin, we would have taken a hit salary wise, but we would have a 1st round pick to use elsewhere (or even on Nelson still, but now to pair wth Maclin, rather than replace)
No way they didnt pay because the wanted to pick Agholor.
But they also freed up money because they did spend some.
Well instead of drafting a corner and paying a WR, we paid a CB and drafted a WR. Can’t argue with that.
Thinking same thing, we have an established CB, of course, with great guys around him before, but still like the way they did it.
good point
I think it will turn out to be more than a couple million.
Eagles had 3 or 4 offers to trade down
I really hope they were bad offers…
or Kelly just really love Agholor
Probably terrified of not getting the guy he wanted this year.
I wonder how Howie feels?
Enjoy your last year in philly Riley Cooper
Word, get our last WR late in the draft in the 5-6th round and we can kick him to the curb.
He stole his money and is set for life anyways, guess he won the game of life. Him, along with that center from the Lakers who completely raped the Sixers. Bynum the bum
I mean, he’s likely better at what he does than any of us are at we do, and he does it in one of the most profitable industries there is. So, yeah, justifiably, he has won.
Back to STs he goes.
D.J. Humphries to Arizona. Is Jonathan Cooper that much of a bust at LG or will Humphries eventually replace Bobby Massie, who is in last yr of contract, at RT.
They need an OT. IMO, Humphries is an RT.
Some people (Mayock types) have said Humphries has chance to be the best LT…
Humphries is a very good athlete. He’s a tier below Lane but that’s still immense potential. The thing is with DJ is that his injury history is a huge red flag.

#Rams RB Zac Stacy, after the selection of RB Todd Gurley, plans to ask the team for his release or to be traded, per league source.
lol fuck the rams
The Von and Shane Show in Mile High Stadium.
Other positive thing with Angolor is he is a good route runner with fantastic RAC, which will be a very good match with Bradford who is accurate but struggles to be a play maker, having a WR who will get open and then make plays helps Bradford hugely (something they never gave him with the Rams)
After reading 10,000s of words about this draft and the Eagles 1st round pick. I am not disagreeing with it but can not help to feel underwhelmed with agholor.
It’s kind of a boring pick. It’s not someone I can get too excited about.
DBs are such a risk, love WR as pick. Not as boring as Oline
I really like him – from the lack of trades i guess no one is looking to move up and they felt he was the player they liked the most.
Yep. I don’t hate the pick but it’s underwhelming. I don’t think Chip likes trying out new flavors very much.
He was on my list of players I’d be okay with but not very excited about. But character and stamina (seems well conditioned, high usage) help me feel like he’s a better fit.
who did u want? I had it btw Agholor, the duck OL or the d back from CT
Shaq gets the call.
Shaq Thompson to CAR.
I’ll take a hybrid of Randall Cobb and Macklin
OLs left
Clemmings
Fisher
Marpet
Sambrailo
That’s a small list so don’t be surprised if we don’t take OL early given how the board is playing out.
We haven’t been connected with OG Laken Tomlinson much but Jeff McLane of the Inquirer wrote that the Eagles had shown him tons of interest at the Senior Bowl.
I forgot about Sambrailo. Tomlinson just isn’t a zone OL so I would be super surprised if we take him.
Mitch Morse and Mark Glowinski later
Greg Mancz even later as well.
I’m ok with those guys as RGs.
Smith
For a moment there, I thought Carolina picked you, Shah8.
Bad news from Eagles perspective with respect to who Dallas took
Byron Jones?
🙁
Edit: Double 🙁
Good god it’s Byron Jones isn’t it.
bah
Manziel?
You know, these teasers are almost worse than spoilers.
If you need to know first and go to Twitter, so be it. Those of us who also want to can find out here: Twitter.com.
Allow the rest of us to enjoy the suspense and drama, can you please?
Now that one is a teaser. I apologize.
Thanks.
Onward and upward.
There goes Perriman
Breshad Perriman to Ravens
Wrong spot
I am not posting until it is shown on the NFL.com ticker on the Eagles live broadcast. It’s official at that point.
yes but just like last year, 90% of the people here are watching on TV and not looking at NFL.com and everyone keeps asking you to stop telling the picks before Goodell announces it on TV because that’s how they want to see the pick. Yet, you insist on ruining it for those of us who want to watch the draft that way. So you do you man…
When its on the NFL.com ticker it has been announced live by Godell
then i take back everything i said
Lol NFL network screwed up. They showed Denzel Perrymen 😛
Well that’s interesting.
ok…..
Ravens love the speedy ers
https://twitter.com/JClarkCSN/status/593971468335198208
#15 is retired, though, I believe Steve Van Buren
Seems like Agholor doesn’t avoid contact like Maclin did in his early years.
I was thinking the same thing.
Also he didn’t seem to go all superstar on celebrations.
I did see him smile and clap his hands after being caught from behind on one play. It was reminiscent of McNabb. He better not pull that shit here!
Sigh.
damn
Damnit another smart pick by jerry, too many lately
Jerry stepped aside and let his son start making the picks. His son is a lot smarter than he is. The mother must have contributed good genes.
This is another ODB to Giants pick. Fuck.
Not close. Jones was the 3rd CB picked in a shallow pool. I don’t hate the guy, but he doesn’t show near the ability of Morris Claiborne, who has been injured a lot. Beckham is a phenom and Jones is not close to that.
Doesn’t bother me
Terrible. Chip Kelly has no business being in charge of a draft.
Your drunk, Go home.
Even when sober I never liked Nelson Agholor. gross pick.
Not really but ok.
Why does being negative always equal realist?
Why can’t someone dislike a pick for real reason without being hated on? I have seen a lot of Nelson living on the west coast and don’t like him as player. Why does that need to be hated on?
and why cant a guy like him without been hated on and called homer?
I made my own comment about disliking the pick. Mitchell didn’t need to say anything if he disagreed.
I didn’t need to but it’s a blog so I did.
And now you are an industrial cock inhaler for doing so.
That actually made me lol.
Trailer park boys reference so it should make you lol.
Because basing your comments such as “you have to be great in a particular area to be a good NFL WR” are ridiculous.
Realist brah. Nothing like the cocksuredness on message boards
Wow, ok. I’m just not sure what’s not to like about good size, speed, toughness, hands and RAC ability. Sorry I offended you.
I would say he isn’t great at any of those and just average in all of them. IMO you need to be great at something to be a good Wide receiver in the NFL. nelson is not great at anything.
Kinda like Maclin though? He did very well in this offense.
Maclin sucks too though. Hate him as an nfl player.
You don’t have to like him.but he doesn’t suck. Look at the year he had last year.
Look at every year he had before that, should I like a player because a system makes him open?
I didn’t say you had to like him. He doesn’t suck. Cooper sucks.
Not disagreeing with that, I just would have rather had dorsett.
Yeh and I would have rather had Dupree (so much for being a homer). Agholor doesn’t suck and is arguably better than Dorsett in many ways except Maybe the deep ball.
Don’t feed into it bro. Not worth it.
Nelson is all around better then Dorsett besides the deep ball. You in an earlier comment regarding Maclin alluded to the system making players open. So you really don’t need a true deep guy, because the system will get them open. What you need is a more all around guy, such as Agholor.
hahah for all the hate would have thought you would have come stronger than dorsett. reality is all of the wrs were meh. this guy is clearly a ck guy, listen to him talk, pick not surprising, pac 10 former recruit, pro ready, and good
Your ridiculous.
Excellent route runner by all accounts but I hear ya. Don’t think celing is as high as some but Maclin last year works quite well. Watching Permian drops made me like it more
Best route runner coming out of college, extremely strong hands and rated as one of the most if not most Pro ready WR in the draft. Very good RAC ability hence the PR skills. Is a very quick twitch athlete. Your analysis is wrong. To say you have to be great at something in the NFL to be good is ridiculous.
What is Jordan Mathews so.spectacular at? He had a great rookie season.
Nelson has the potential to be better then Mathews.
However I will say this again, just so you can.understand. He is a great route runner. That’s a big deal in the NFL.
Hahaha who and what was this, it got deleted. I’m curious.
Hahaha who and what was this, it got deleted. I’m curious.
This is one of those comments where you hit the “flag” button and hope Tommy takes out the trash.
There settle down.
Not use to the cowboys making smart picks.. Boooo!!
I like Jones a ton and usually I don’t want guys like Jones to bust but..man I hope he doesn’t reach his potential in Dallas.
Thats how I felt with OBJ last year
We knew he was going to be great. I remember is talking about him.
I’m going to go cry now.
so you hope he goes the claibourne route?
Don’t put words in my mouth!!!
yes..:(
haha me too
If it makes you feel better he was mediocre in college
Except he wasn’t. Jones shadowed the best WRs on every team he played against as a CB. He did pretty damn well at it. Sure he wasn’t super flashy or makes the biggest hits and that’s not what lockdown CBs do.
Insane measurables, lackluster play against mediocre competition.
Ooh no physicality on the edge, here comes the Murray train, look out
Wow, Tomlinson in the 1st?
wow, dude’s name is laken
Plus, they traded for G/C Manny Ramirez. Thought they’d go DT here.
Have they announced the Lions pick. It’s on the NFL.com ticker. Don’t want to spoil anything for anyone.
hahahaha this timing issue has been my favorite subplot of this draft!
If its on the ticker, it has been announced
Yes, guy wants to be a neurosurgeon after football
the way things are going, he’s going to need a neurosurgeon after football. because brain trauma.
Dude, just stop already.
Chip: SAM SAM..we got you Maclin 2.0
Bradford: damn really? throw 15mil a year my way before I play a snap for you.
Chip: OK SAM
You mean, before I’m even cleared to practice and currently have no real timeline for return.
His return is August
Not calling BS, but do you have a link or more info? I’ve been asking around and haven’t heard anything remotely concrete.
Its burried now in all the draft talk, but can try and find it
Thanks, if you can cool. If it’s out there it will surface again, so don’t kill yourself.
He’s rehabbing, he’s getting ready, he’ll up and ready to go certainly no later than August.”
Per Mort
http://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2015/4/27/8505273/eagles-sam-bradford-contract-extension-marcus-mariota-draft-no-trade-clause
Thanks for linking this, I hope that’s accurate on Morts part. Mortensen must be close with Bradford’s agent or someone. He was practically embedded with the Bradford camp going down the stretch. He even had the report where he called the possibility of the Eagles getting to number to a fantasy.
All of my excitement over the Agholor pick has been sucked out of me by Dallas getting Byron Jones. Sucks.
Sources tell me that Byron Jones stole candy from a little girl last week after he kicked the shin of her mother. His favourite past-time is to spread Lego bricks around for people to step on
he also wears white after labor day
I heard that he pees on Easter eggs during Easter egg hunts too.
Those frackin things hurt!
Bastard Pats traded out again
who actually wants to hear these interviews? let the guys have their moment
My wife said something similar, but pointed out that between their nerves, adrenaline, and education, they all sound terrible.
So am I delusional in hoping we somehow get Clemmings in the 2nd round?
He a foot issue so he may well slide a fair bit – will be an exciting day 2.
The stress fracture shouldn’t be a big deal at all but I agree.
Yeah.
Not impossible…
That would be tremendous, but I don’t think he’ll make it to 52…
Packers could take Eric Rowe at 30. Not any type of teaser, just my opinion.
Ok pal. We’re not falling for that. Rowe is gong at 30 take it to the bank guys.
Wow, close.
So they have Randall and Dix now? That could have been our tandem.
You didn’t want Randall though did you? I just don’t see him being worth that much in the first.
If we got him at 30, i might have been okay. If we had gotten Dix last year, I would have been better.
That’s fair, I just don’t like Randall at all. He blows assignments all the time in addition to lack of physicality.
“Oregon offered Agholor a scholarship out of high school in Tampa, so Chip Kelly has a history with him.”
There you go guys. That’s the reason why we took him. Hundley will be our 2nd round pick now.
And then we will trade for Manziel.
I thought Chip was bidding against himself for MM.
Apparently he was bidding against the Titans if the reports are true. I am very happy he lost.
Colts took Phillip Dorsett. Screw defense. Just get Luck weapons.
love Dorsett but weird pick
ty hilton not getting paid
They don’t need OL if their WRs can go from 0-60 in like 3 seconds.
Luck is looking like a good fantasy QB.
If Luck gets injured in pre-season and it out for the year, they’ll go 0-16 again.
Patriots jumped Saints for someone.
Lots of these late 1st round picks feel like 2nd rounders. Shallow draft this year?
Yeah, looks that way.
Everyone from about 15 has been second rounds
most people said around 15 true 1st round grades
Maybe it was true that picks 16-50 were all kinda similar. And they will go in somewhat different orders than mocks.
Pretty much.
, Kelly was adamant that no players (Bradford, Cox) were offered as trade bait.
Not the only time that Kelly has been disingenuous
Yeah, he’s kind of got to say that now.
Gonna be really awkward next time he talks to Cox or Curry.
So guys… we’re cool right?
Thank goodness Randall gone
Packers want him at CB, just like Tommy wanted
That makes much more sense than safety.
Patriots didn’t trade up. JLC was wrong. Packers took S Damarious Randall who they view as a CB reportedly.
Who knew that JLC could be wrong? 😛
Yeah the media’s really getting served so far in this draft. Been wrong about a multitude of things.
JLC gets things wrong but on this one he was just confused by the backup. He heard NE had made their pick and thought they moved up but all 3 from 30-32 had been submitted.
Well now we see it could have been worse.
While I admit that I initially thought Agholor was just a bit of a reach, I’m just starting to grow on him. Like the others have said, this guy’s a solid pick; he has size, speed, and skill with good RAC ability. Some are comparing him favorably to Maclin, but I look at him more like a hybrid mix of Maclin and Randall Cobb. Imagine Chip Kelly utilizing this dude in the flat or crossing routes from the backfield, or even on the outside as a vertical threat. This could potentially let Matthews and Huff get more targets.
Now I’m looking forward to the 2nd and 3rd round…
Who takes slot, huff or agh okra. Assume jm outside but they can rotate
I would think Huff
Ya prob, nice spell check there on agholar
That’s what I’m thinking too. Make Agholor win an outside position from Cooper, which he hopefully does by the end of preseason.
Agreed
Pope in slot…r. Huff and Agholor outside
Not a reach at all.. He was a top 20 player on all the top guys big boards
Felt the same way initially then really started to like it the more I looked into him. Rated as the best if not close to the best route runner coming out. Very strong hands. I think his quick little moves are faster then Maclins. Really like the pick.
That Nebraska DE still out there?
yes
Wow, need some sad green room shots
He’s got Pats written all over him
Man still a lot of good players I’d be happy with for Day 2. Can’t wait.
Wow Anthony before Kendricks?
I’m thinking that the rumor of a knee problem is really screwing him right now.
I hadn’t heard about that.
Oh yea apparently recently one team didn’t approve is his knee, i forget what team but that definitely happened
Wow wonder if we keep Kendricks now
I think Tommy was right on with his take on their interest in Stephone Anthony, but I’m still pretty confident we’ll trade him for (hopefully) a 2 or a 3.
Thought Anthony could go to Packers at 30 so not that surprising IMO.
still on board: Landon Collins, Randy Gregory, Devin Smith, Dorial Green-Beckham, Bryce Petty, La’el Collins.
Do you think Clemmings drops to our next pick?
Not sure, but could see us trade up for Rowe or Fisher tho
Hmm good point. They are there if we want them. Lots of great players left for our 2nd.
Would really be ecstatic if we could land one of them in the 2nd.
Think the bucs take him at the top of the second.
If he does, it probably means his foot injury is worrisome.
I really don’t think stress fractures are that big of a deal especially if he didn’t know he didn’t have it. We’ll see though.
Strong too
I agree with the philosophy that says when it comes to QB, if your guy is available, you grab him. So I’m thinking Brandon Bridge in the 2nd.
Frankly, I think Earl Wolff is a far better safety prospect.
Top 8 2nd round targets:
1. Eric Rowe
2. Jake Fisher
3. Quinten Rollins
4. T.J. Clemmings
5. Owa Odighazuwa
6. Preston Smith
7. Eli Harold
8. A.J. Cann
Seen Agholor quotes on Eagles twitter feed and one can 100% see why he was drafted by Kelly. Super high character guy
Yeah, that’s been part of his story.
I’m psyched about this pick. Just pissed Dallas took Byron Jones.
I would have been more worried if they got Johnson
Bradford to Agholor has a nice ring to it.
So it’s not surprising that the Pats looked for their “Next Wilfork”
Yeah its a shame Wilfork was a generational player. They won’t find him easy to replace.
It’s just like we keep looking for the “Next Dawkins”…
I’m surprised Kendricks wasn’t used to move up to grab Waynes or Parker. Maybe he’ll get traded tomorrow?
At this point why trade him?
Word, the only way id be ok with letting go of kendricks would be if we could get. Stephon anthony..hoping we’re able to get quentin rollins, marpet, fisher, hundley, rowe, at least one of them tommorow and ill be happy
Final 1st round pick: DT Malcolm Brown to Patriots
Well team, I look forward to tomorrow. Hope we have as much gusto then as we did today! Great work all around everyone.
Sleep well guys. Not sure I can join tomorrow
You’ll find a way.
Lots of ILBs if kendricks is getting traded, same wi corners and lineman
Doubt he gets traded now that we don’t need picks for Marriota
So your guarantee’s just doubt now?
Guy still hasnt learned shit
Wow, that is some really dumb PR
Jameis really could not give a fuck. Bucs are going to badly regret taking him.
Thats the problem. Winston might be super smart on the field, but the guy shows all the signs of a sociopath (simply lack basic empathy skills)
needs to upgrade to lobster claws
His girlfriend’s name is Crab Legs? I don’t even want to know why.
thats the equivalent to johnny football walking on the stage doing his money pose, we know how that worked out
This is his “Johnny Manziel makes the ‘money’ gesture after getting drafted” moment.
I can’t believe that this is real. Holy shit that is stupid.
HEY GUYS LOOK I REALLY LEARNED MY LESSON
Wisenhunt says the plan is to start Mariota in September lol they are going to ruin this kid.. See u in free agency 2020 mr Marriotta
Or we get him in 2 years when he flops in TEN and they sell the team and we get him for dirt cheap lol
Build up Bradford and swap him for MM once he struggles
..
Winston vs Marriota week 1, both starting probably
As much as there are other areas of need, I really would prefer, all things being equal, to take OL in the 2nd round.
ROTO: ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports the agent for Zach Mettenberger wants his client traded out of Tennessee.
Mettenberger’s agent — Joe Linta — obviously sees his client as a starter in the NFL, and Mettenberger is likely not going to be Tennessee’s starter after the team drafted Marcus Mariota with the No. 2 overall pick. Mettenberger should have trade value, though not necessarily much. He was a sixth-round pick in last year’s draft, lacks mobility, and has erratic ball placement.
Three way trade: Tennessee get Barkley, Cleveland gets Mettenberger, Philly gets Manziel.
That trade almost makes sense
This is bizarrely brilliant.
The trade equivalent of moving chairs around on the titanic
Manziel is owed too much money for that to make sense.
he wasn’t serious
Mettenberger and his agent must both be really drunk or high right now to think that a 2nd year 6th round pick player who showed nothing in his 1st year should be treated with such resoect
/me shakes head.
Rather trade for Glennon…but I want Bryce petty
This is the best:
Gil Brandt @Gil_Brandt · 6m6 minutes ago
Hey, @Andy_Fenelon, you ever open the envelope? How did I do? #EaglesPick
Second round might be more interesting than the first. The troubled and the meh runs out quick here, too, so I’d expect there to be trades.
Would be down to trade next years 1st rounder for one of the first picks in the second round and take Fisher, then try to take quintin Rollins with our pick, but we already traded away next years second Rounder so it wont work unfortunately… Oh well, hello Hironis Grasu
/me blinks
No.
Hell no.
why do you post this garbage?
cant rem is tomo 2nd and 3rd or 2nd second only?
2Nd and 3rd.
So when do you think La’el Collins goes? I find it hard to believe someone won’t spend at least a 7th on him, unless Goodell unofficially told teams to back off to avoid another potential Hernandez situation.
Probably in the 5th or 6th. It’ll really suck if he’s not guilty and drops that far just because of really bad timing.
I haven’t read the story but why the he’ll would he want to kill his ex girlfriend? You know?
Everything I read indicates he’s not even a suspect, so I have no idea why he would fall because of that. Unless teams know things that the public doesn’t.
You don’t spend a 1st round pick on someone if there’s even a slight possibility of them going to prison.
He has the potential to pass Kevin Allen on the Eagles worst draft pick lists.
Curious to see where he goes. While teams won’t spend a 1st, do they spend 3rd, 4th?
the week before he’s about to come into several million bucks. also it’s crazy that she was murdered can’t imagine that happening in my real life, then also having to deal w/ the draft implications. instead of any sympathy it’s “did he do it”. crazy.
NFL should have allowed him to go supplemental, by then he would have been proven innocent if he was
Yeah it was stupid for them not to allow that. What if he is guilty? Does the NFL want that kind of publicity for another player?
The CBA specifically says that players eligible for the regular draft and aren’t allowed to withdraw and enter the supplemental draft. Can’t do it for Collins or anyone who gets hurt pre-draft and thinks their stock is sliding couldd ask for the same favor. It’d set a bad precedent.
Aaah well I guess you’re right so sucks for him assuming he’s innocent
http://www.mockdraftable.com/ is down.
I wanted to see his spider graph.
It’s on 24/7.
Is spider chart is 98.7% of Reggie Wayne and pretty much Jeremy Maclin as well. His game also reminds a lot of people Maclin, Wayne and Cobb
What grade would give the first round at first glance? I’ll give it a B-B+. I am upset we didn’t get Dupree and I had Agholor and Jones about even.
B+
I think the only thing that would have made it an A for me is trade down a couple spots and pick up another 4th so we could have ammo for a move up later. W/e though, maybe the offers were trash and Chip didn’t want to lose his guy.
maybe no good trade back offers? i think getting a wr in rd to was daunting,
I think Chip won’t do any trades unless he thinks he’s getting the advantage. He won’t trade up unless it’s for a bargain and he won’t trade down unless it’s more than usual value.
I like the guy we got, but there were others I would have taken above Agholor.

Was re-told Bradford was not included in any #Eagles offers, despite reports.
I am going to guess if we don’t trade anyone this offseason, then it will be reported that in fact, the Eagles never offered any players ever and no one was ever on the trading block.
Like someone said on 24/7, checking out the asking price is not the same as making an offer.
Amazing that Gil Brandt called this pick two months ago. Put the name in an envelope and sent it to this guy.

That’s banana pants. Wonder if Gil had an inside source or was just that keyed in.
Some scouts loved him, others not so much. I don’t remember him being mocked to the Eagles but I saw some mocks where he went before the Eagles and others where he wasn’t even in the first round.
I’m betting that a young Eagles scout knew the team had Agholor higher than he was hearing from other teams and put 2 and 2 together to show off for a well respected elder in the scouting community.
You know what makes a good drafting GM? I just realized–don’t fuck up in talent rich years. The fireman in ’11. Or Ponder… It gets really easy in talent unrich years.
Who would you rather have? Brandon Cooks–the guy that made Mannion look good, or Agholor? Same pick area.
Agholor.
why, specifically? Can’t be because of stats…
Well, let me ask you this, what do you get with Cooks? Some deep speed? Does he have great RAC ability? I know Agholor is tough as shit. You can see it when he plays. I think Cooks crumbles under contact. Cooks is also smaller not just from a size standpoint but from a physicality standpoint.
Cooks crumbles under contact? What.
Hey that’s just the way Cooks crumbles.
He is small yes? You can see the competition in Agholor it’s on another level. Agholor will take the contact, Cooks will avoid it. He has to be clean to get Rac.I said that poorly. You can just tell Agholor loves the game/competition.
Cooks was no slouch his rookie year and the Eagles were hot for him last year at pick 24, so they must have valued him similarly to Agholor.
Lets let Agholor play a few games before we start rattling off all the great things he does.
I was just saying what I like from the tape I watched.
Agholor is Maclin, only 5 years younger, cheaper and apparently can also play both inside and outside. He also is an STer. He’s not my first choice either, but just try to get any 3 people here to agree on who else should be the first pick. Good thing it’s Chip’s job, not ours.
Cooks, but it’s a whole different prototype. Chip wants his receivers to be more physical, fight for the ball, and for extra yards, and throw blocks when called for. Being able to separate vertically is less of a priority for him.
You nailed it ICDogg.
2011 had an awesome top 15. After that, the talent level fell off a cliff.
After watching his highlight and draft videos on the field, then watching and listening to his combine interview and call in to the Eagles… I like this guy.
Me too.
Surprised at a few of the names still available. Jaelen Strong… what happened with him?
Inconsistent tape, tho I still like him more than Agholor or Perriman
Idk. I liked him more than many.
Lots of effusive praise for Agholor on ESPN and on NFLN. They love the way that he likes to work in traffic and “do the dirty work” and loves to block and isn’t shy of contact, they love him as a red zone target especially.
FYI. Another USC wideout.

Matt Barkley Tweets “philly, you are going to love this guy”….
..
Josh huff better quit all his hobbies, because he is sorroundrd by talented young workhorses now in the WR room. Pope and Agholor are going to really thrive off each other’s work ethic. Should be some healthy, United competition between the two young WR”s… Huff better bring the insane work ethic(not saying he doesnt) because these two will make him look bad with the way they work… Excited for the weapons we are putting around the comeback player of the year, Sam Bradford….
…
Time to get fisher, Grasu, Ali Marpet, Daryl Williams , I’ll take Lael Collins in round 2 gladly…I’d take Eli Harold in RD 2…Bryce Petty. Gotta build the OL, and then get a versatile DB with CB and Safety experience
