I want the Eagles to lose this game to help with draft position, but I don’t know how you actually root against the team during the game. That will be tough to do.

I think most of us are more interested in the coaching search than analyzing the season finale.
The rumor of the day is that Doug Pederson will be a “leading candidate” for the Eagles coaching job. Jimmy Bama wrote up a quick article on this report.
I think Pederson is worth checking out, but he would not be one of my Top 5 candidates. I’m putting that list together and trying to finalize some things. I’m trying to do research on the candidates that goes beyond just stats and obvious information.
Now we have this.

Pederson is a Bob LaMonte client. The initial report came from Adam Schefter, who agents will use to get rumors out there. It could be that Schefter floated that rumor from LaMonte.
We’ll have to sort through a lot of rumors in the coming weeks. Not all will be true. Schefter is a great source of info, but he also can be a shill for agents. If LaMonte wants other teams to see Pederson as a candidate, it makes sense to tie him to the Eagles because of his background there. LaMonte is trying to create a market for his client.
We’ll see how this one plays out.
To me, Pederson is more of a fall back plan than a top target. I think the Eagles job is good enough to get a quality coach, but you never know how things will play out.

Lose: play a home game against Rams next year and pick 9-11
Win: play against seahawks next year and pick 13-17
Lose this game would be better, of course, but worse than that would be suffer with this team struggles even rooting for them to lose hahaha

I’m sensing that FO would like a quick turn around mext year w/ a trip to playoffs. It makes them look good & keeps fans interest high. Surest way to that goal is minimum t/o in remaining g coaching staff and retension of currant schemes. DC Davis goes; everyone else under contract stays. New HC must accept this condition. May limit field of potential candidates. NO rumor of looking to trade Sean Peyton is another variation that fits above. Here comes taser Howie.
I hope not. This is a long process. I wouldn’t worry about record next season. There are often HCs who have “quick turnarounds” their 1st season and then teams adjust and they can’t sustain their success.

Off topic: Even though I prefer Gase, I dont think McDermott would be too bad. I live in Charlotte and hear their sports radio/watch their games quite a bit. He’s done a hell of a job with some nobodies (including Kurt Coleman, an ancient peanut tillman). He’s also maximized the potential of Norman, Kuechly, Davis. Fun to watch their defense play (which we cant say for us for quite some time).
To be fair, Todd Bowles proves that that Eagles defense isn’t the best metric of a coach.

The explosion isnt there… Hopefully it comes back for next year… Cheap enough to hold on to and see if two years removed from the surgery makes any difference before we give up on him.
No argument from me on this one. Still don’t think it was a horrible trade, overpriced RB for a talented cheap LB. Sucks that it hasn’t worked out at all. Does make me chuckle about all the hype Kiko got this summer from the local pundits though.

Those last two are the biggest variables.
Bradford doesn’t have much say in it since the Eagles can always franchise him. I think it’s all up to the incoming coach, which could be another reason the Eagles want to move quickly in regards to the HC search.
I would think the new HC would seeing that he is the best QB we could possibly have at this point, therefore giving the new HC the best chance to win.
I really want Gase, because I believe Bradford would or should want to stay for him.

He even put Biggers on ODB 1-on-1, but it didn’t work out. Biggers was in way of the desired route and it threw off the timing. Giants get TD in the end anyways though.

Still the best part about Kelly getting fired imho. Best parts about playing a 2gap 3-4. . . . should be very good against the run and unpredictable pass rush. Under Billy . . . can’t stop the run and most lay people can tell who’s rushing the QB on any given play. Billy thinks vanilla is too spicy.
It’s cause we go into a 4man line when rushiñg the passer… We really only tried to use the 3-4 to stop the run,,..4man line is usually how we pass rush
Which wastes the one of the best points of playing a 3-4. Also, playing a 3-4 in ‘conventional’ downs makes you vulnerable to TE’s and RB’s as pass catchers, which was a huge problem all season.

The other side of that is very fast play calling will appeal to more than a couple franchises, provided it isn’t a defense killer. If Kelly has no voice on “character”, no demands on DC, and limited input on 53-man roster, he’s going to understand going in that tempo will not be an absolute. It can still put a defense on its heels, but there will probably be somebody in the organization to temper his dogmatic attachment to hell-bent 24/7.
